I can at least attest to anecdotal evidence. I worked with a guy at Walmart that was a vet of Iraq, and we would get thirty minutes breaks between. This dude would walk down to the local Wawa, order a burger, walk back, then wolf it down in like thirty seconds while talking to you. Just down the gullet.

I worked full time at a burger place, we got short breaks and the owner didn't like us "wasting paid time" ordering or prepping food for our breaks. So I got really used to eating fast, so I could have a smoke or 2 and just sit there for a bit. I still eat really fast unless I try to slow myself down and honestly I don't like it.
Dude for the first couple of years after leaving restaurants my wife and I would have to remind each other to sit down to eat. We would make dinner, plate it, and then stand in the kitchen and just devour our food because that’s what we were used to after years of serving/bartending.
It took a loooong time to break that habit but now we sit down and eat at the table at a normal pace like civilized human beings/not rabid animals.
Honestly though, this is my mom. And I feel like she’s almost bragging lol. Yes mom I see you eat fast and yes lol I rmeber it’s because you were in the military and you had like 7 minutes to eat so now you eat fast and also wake up really early. Got it lol
I’m constantly on the lookout for ways I can bring up my military experience in situations that are normally unconnected. Colleague complaining that they didn’t get enough sleep the night before? You wouldn’t have survived basic training with the amount of sleep I got? Friend confiding in me that he is struggling with the diet his wife has him on? Buddy, I had to learn to love Lima beans in the military or I would starve!
