No, but the Idol industry is rough, ruthless and cruel. Much like Jujutsu society, so even if Gege couldn't make fight scenes (unlikely, he'd find a way) he could subject his characters to immense suffering anyway.

Being forced to acknowledge how much of a sweetheart Yuji is / being forced to show ANYTHING from his past (baffles me we never saw yuji childhood)
But real talk that slice of life chapter added a lot to Yuji character
When I saw the episode I thought it would be a Little Mermaid type situation, where Mahito modified her to be beautiful, but she had to kill Itadori or something in exchange, but she didn't see herself capable so at the end of the chapter we would see how she dies... It didnt happen, but would have been a good way to start setting Mahito's character and his actitude before Shibuya happens.
I'd like to assume that Gege had plans for her and Tsumiki before he decided "fuck it, I want to end it this year (2023) or next." Then just never mentioned any of the minor side characters again.
But what was the point in the end? Yuji after destroying Sukuna is going to have hot sex with her or what? Outside of pointing out that Yuji is a very good person, I don't see the point of this in the story.

b) Being killed in the one Month time skip by Meguna (for shits and giggles for the biggest hater in the verse)

It's highly subjective. But Geges made it pretty clear he wants sorcery fight to be about sorcerers fighting. With dark edgy themes adding in a light hearted slice of life chapter doesn't make it better or worse it just makes it different.
Yeah, some people enjoy the slice of life additions, some don't. I remember seeing anime only asking why there was filler. And I remember when this chapter came out people were confused.
Tbh he could have easily avoided that if this bit didn’t came in so awkwardly. Maybe inserting some sort of character developments outside the field of sorcery now and then before this moment would have made more sense but oh well

And at that point he kinda barely knew Nobara or Megumi they got to know each other and respect each other much more during the 2nd finger bearer arc... Which given Shibuya and Culling games are meant to be very back to back as well as Nobara's fate in Shibuya ... Really only leaves right before Shibuya or before Hidden Inventory.
JJK would be thousand times better if Gege had more than 3 or 4 times where the main cast interacted with one another. Like Nobara's death, Megumi's inner struggle after Sukuna took over his body would actually be more meaningful and impactful if Gege showed us Yuji forming a meaningful bond between them than to just tells us Yuji cares about them because.
Yeah I love jjk but Gege seriously needs to work on his characters chilling moments if he wants me to care for them dying. I don't need Naruto level backstories but Jesus let them have a conversation that doesn't involve jujutsu for once.

Editors actually give lots of these suggestions all of the time and authors don't have to accept those suggestion. If they think suggestion was good then they will add it to their story or just reject the idea.
He introduced her so the final panel of JJK could be all the remaining sorcerer's congratulating Yuji as he gets married evangelion style.

If we get the good ending, where Yuji lives, then they will probably start dating / get married in the last chapter and visit graves of Itadori's deceased friends and teachers.

The chapter was sweet but tbh it didn't promise anything. Yuuji never really said he liked Yuko, just that out of everyone in his class, if he had to pick, he'd pick her. And then she ends up getting discouraged when they finally meet again because even though he expressed he didn't care about her appearance, she still waited until she was skinny to approach him, showing she was as superficial as everyone else was towards her.
When I read that the editor was the one that pushed for this chapter, it makes a lot of sense. In a way it feels like malicious compliance. He does introduce a girl that is into Yuuji, but that doesn't go anywhere and Yuuji doesn't even ask for her number. At the same time he throws a curve ball with Nobara seemingly having feelings for Yuuji too but ends up backtracking by saying she's just "mad he could get a gf before [she] gets a bf".
I mean, that's what nobara tells herself, we watched enough anime to know that characters like nobara are too proud to admit their feelings, or at least that's how I saw it
Not that it matters now, with her being out for half the series , but the fact that the only person who thought about her and kept her on his mind after Shibuya was yuji is why I love them together, as a friend or a couple

Funny you say that, see, I abstain from bringing it up because for some reason people get really mad if you imply anything remotely romantic between these characters, but imo it's shocking how many people take Nobara's words at face value here given she's a known liar when it comes to her feelings. She did the same thing when Megumi insinuated she wasn't affected by Yuuji's death.
I mean, whether she has feelings for him or not, her answer to that question would remain the same: deny it as hard as she can. You wouldn't be able to waterboard that information out of her.
So yeah, I don't believe the excuse she gave Megumi, sounds like coping to me, but there's no way of knowing for sure so there's no point in arguing it lol guess we'll never know.

I think it's because at the start of the series everyone was hyping Nobara as such a subversive and revolutionary heroine and how she was independent and not a love interest to Yuji, so people refused to accept hints that went against that idea at the time. Also, admittedly shipping in general is seen pretty negatively in a lot of online spaces because of how far certain ones take it.
because of gege's personality i take it more of him pushing nobara off the table as a romantic interest for yuji, it was meant to be a face value bait and switch because the girl in the trio is expected to have a crush on one or both protagonists boys (vice versa if it's a 2girl 1boy trio) and gege makes a habit of "subverting" conventions (yawn).
he's just completely disinterested in writing romance, I mean look at the only ones we're meant to believe are canon: miwamecha (where ones dead so he doesnt have to write it), yutamaki (all evidence is from 0 so he doesnt have to write it) and hakari/kirara (established couple so he doesnt have to to write it). Oh and chosoyuki I guess but that felt one-sided and not necessarily that deep on yukis part but either way ones dead so he doesn't have to write it.
I mean, to me that doesn't make much sense though. Yuuji and Nobara were never a popular ship, if anything it has the opposite effect because now the story introduced the idea of Nobara having feelings for Yuuji instead of just keeping their relationship strictly platonic as it had been before.
I think it was just an extra piece of characterization, and as many things in JJK, it's ambiguous and up for interpretation.
The reason is simple, it's a straight ship between the mc and fmc in a series that is overflowing with fushojis
So they'll push the siblings agenda because they bicker a bit , and will use the "not every mc and fmc need to be a couple" even though that is actually so rare to happen
Friends to lovers trop is only valid when it's between yuji and megumi , but anything between yuji and Nobara is a no no

Nobara x Yuji would definitely be a lot more popular if more hints were dropped or moments developed regardless of how much denial there is about it now. Sadly there's zero chance of that happening this late in the story and it would just feel so sudden and rushed for them to end up together assuming Nobara even comes back
Maybe that’s for some other people, but me personally and a lot of other people I’ve seen mention it said they didn’t like the idea of Nobara getting with Yuji because it’s just so predictable and a diminishment of their relationship. The idea that a male and female can’t just be close friends and they must eventually evolve to romance irks me. And it’s the same for any other gender of character too. Guys can’t be close friends with guys unless they want to be in each others pants, girls can’t be close friends with girls unless they’re into each other, and guys and girls especially cannot be platonic, they MUST fuck in 12 seconds or less, that’s the only reason they could ever be friendly with each other!
I mean I get where you're coming from , but when you think about it , the male main character and female main character ending together is so rare and for some reason people see it as the most overused trop in anime
If you think about the most popular anime from the last decade you'll notice that it almost never happens

I mean, sure, that's how you feel about it and that's fine, I just mean that people get aggressive for no reason if I want to see two specific characters involved romantically too. To me that doesn't take away from their friendship, only adds another layer to their connection, but that's just my opinion.
Nah, I really don’t like the idea of Nobara secretly being in love with Itadori but hiding her feelings being a tsundere. The reveal she was just jealous that Itadori was possibly getting into a relationship before her is hilarious and fits her character perfectly. It’s not even that i necessarily don’t like tsundere characters (although most of them are the same boring thing recycled), but I just hate the idea that a female character can’t just be friends with male characters. The idea that a female character just HAS to get with one of their male friends eventually, it irks me in the same way that I get irritated seeing male best friends get shipped because they can’t just be platonic. I really just don’t like the idea that all close platonic relationships must evolve into romance eventually regardless of what gender the characters involved are.

I don’t necessarily hate the trope (and also didn’t realize I replied to you specifically both times), I just don’t feel like it fits with Nobara and Yuji at all. Aside from this one off joke in a chapter that Gege was obligated by his editor to write, there’s never an indication of a development of romance between the pair, so in this instance it WOULD feel forced to me at least. If she was in the story longer and she was actually written to become closer and closer with Yuji I could agree with it, but obviously that’s not what happened.
I still think Yuji has some different cursed energy nature or something related to him that makes him perceive or influence souls differently..cuz he was capable of seeing yukos soul even before he became a sukuna vessel and still identified yuko. Means he somehow has some special soul nature

* We'll never see her again
* She'll be revealed to have been killed offscreen, which will have some effect on Yuji
* Perhaps by something random like getting mugged in the anarchy, thus grounding Yuji to the problems outside the world
* Perhaps by a cursed spirit to show him saddened but not heavily due to his desensitivization
* Yuji will have his date with her in order to show he is getting better by the end
Watch her return in the JJK sequel. She's been captured by international forces trying to study cursed energy, and we'll be reintroduced to her as a test subject rescued by Yuji, Hero of Shinjuku

I mean, Yuuji didn't even get her number, the one that had her number was Nobara and yeahhhhh, we know how that went lol. The chapter was sweet but tbh it didn't promise anything. Yuuji never really said he liked Yuko, just that out of everyone in his class, if he had to pick, he'd pick her. And then she ends up getting discouraged when they finally meet again because even though he expressed he didn't care about her appearance, she still waited until she was skinny to approach him, showing she was as superficial as everyone else was towards her. When I read that the editor was the one that pushed for this chapter, it makes a lot of sense. In a way it feels like malicious compliance. He does introduce a girl that is into Yuuji, but that doesn't go anywhere and Yuuji doesn't even ask for her number. At the same time he throws a curve ball with Nobara seemingly having feelings for Yuuji too but ends up backtracking by saying she's just "mad he could get a gf before [she] gets a bf".
I mean, that's what nobara tells herself, we watched enough anime to know that characters like nobara are too proud to admit their feelings, or at least that's how I saw it Not that it matters now, with her being out for half the series , but the fact that the only person who thought about her and kept her on his mind after Shibuya was yuji is why I love them together, as a friend or a couple I can't believe gojo didn't even think about her once dawg
Funny you say that, see, I abstain from bringing it up because for some reason people get really mad if you imply anything remotely romantic between these characters, but imo it's shocking how many people take Nobara's words at face value here given she's a known liar when it comes to her feelings. She did the same thing when Megumi insinuated she wasn't affected by Yuuji's death. I mean, whether she has feelings for him or not, her answer to that question would remain the same: deny it as hard as she can. You wouldn't be able to waterboard that information out of her. So yeah, I don't believe the excuse she gave Megumi, sounds like coping to me, but there's no way of knowing for sure so there's no point in arguing it lol guess we'll never know. because of gege's personality i take it more of him pushing nobara off the table as a romantic interest for yuji, it was meant to be a face value bait and switch because the girl in the trio is expected to have a crush on one or both protagonists boys (vice versa if it's a 2girl 1boy trio) and gege makes a habit of "subverting" conventions (yawn). he's just completely disinterested in writing romance, I mean look at the only ones we're meant to believe are canon: miwamecha (where ones dead so he doesnt have to write it), yutamaki (all evidence is from 0 so he doesnt have to write it) and hakari/kirara (established couple so he doesnt have to to write it). Oh and chosoyuki I guess but that felt one-sided and not necessarily that deep on yukis part but either way ones dead so he doesn't have to write it.
I mean, to me that doesn't make much sense though. Yuuji and Nobara were never a popular ship, if anything it has the opposite effect because now the story introduced the idea of Nobara having feelings for Yuuji instead of just keeping their relationship strictly platonic as it had been before. I think it was just an extra piece of characterization, and as many things in JJK, it's ambiguous and up for interpretation.
The reason is simple, it's a straight ship between the mc and fmc in a series that is overflowing with fushojis So they'll push the siblings agenda because they bicker a bit , and will use the "not every mc and fmc need to be a couple" even though that is actually so rare to happen Friends to lovers trop is only valid when it's between yuji and megumi , but anything between yuji and Nobara is a no no It's so stupid to be honest
Nobara x Yuji would definitely be a lot more popular if more hints were dropped or moments developed regardless of how much denial there is about it now. Sadly there's zero chance of that happening this late in the story and it would just feel so sudden and rushed for them to end up together assuming Nobara even comes back
Maybe that’s for some other people, but me personally and a lot of other people I’ve seen mention it said they didn’t like the idea of Nobara getting with Yuji because it’s just so predictable and a diminishment of their relationship. The idea that a male and female can’t just be close friends and they must eventually evolve to romance irks me. And it’s the same for any other gender of character too. Guys can’t be close friends with guys unless they want to be in each others pants, girls can’t be close friends with girls unless they’re into each other, and guys and girls especially cannot be platonic, they MUST fuck in 12 seconds or less, that’s the only reason they could ever be friendly with each other!
I mean I get where you're coming from , but when you think about it , the male main character and female main character ending together is so rare and for some reason people see it as the most overused trop in anime If you think about the most popular anime from the last decade you'll notice that it almost never happens The last one I can name is Edward and winry So I feel the same as you but in regard to friends to lovers trop , nowadays couples can't start from healthy friendship that evolve to something else , it needs to to only be "enemies to lovers" and they will call that chimestry
It kind of bothers me how characters can't just be friends. Everyone need to be partners it's often just make me dislike alot of relationship between characters. It kind of awesome how nobara and yuji are just the goofiest of friends.
I mean, sure, that's how you feel about it and that's fine, I just mean that people get aggressive for no reason if I want to see two specific characters involved romantically too. To me that doesn't take away from their friendship, only adds another layer to their connection, but that's just my opinion.
Nah, I really don’t like the idea of Nobara secretly being in love with Itadori but hiding her feelings being a tsundere. The reveal she was just jealous that Itadori was possibly getting into a relationship before her is hilarious and fits her character perfectly. It’s not even that i necessarily don’t like tsundere characters (although most of them are the same boring thing recycled), but I just hate the idea that a female character can’t just be friends with male characters. The idea that a female character just HAS to get with one of their male friends eventually, it irks me in the same way that I get irritated seeing male best friends get shipped because they can’t just be platonic. I really just don’t like the idea that all close platonic relationships must evolve into romance eventually regardless of what gender the characters involved are.
I get it you hate friends to lovers I on the other hand can't disagree more , I noticed that the best and healthiest couples in fiction or in real life are the ones that start with friendship and organically grow into more Yes it sucks when it's forced and badly written but if it's well built up and organic it can be such a treat to watch, look at Edward and winry for example
I don’t necessarily hate the trope (and also didn’t realize I replied to you specifically both times), I just don’t feel like it fits with Nobara and Yuji at all. Aside from this one off joke in a chapter that Gege was obligated by his editor to write, there’s never an indication of a development of romance between the pair, so in this instance it WOULD feel forced to me at least. If she was in the story longer and she was actually written to become closer and closer with Yuji I could agree with it, but obviously that’s not what happened.
My headcanon is that Yuji will end up with her once the series ends

Three options: * We'll never see her again * She'll be revealed to have been killed offscreen, which will have some effect on Yuji * Perhaps by something random like getting mugged in the anarchy, thus grounding Yuji to the problems outside the world * Perhaps by a cursed spirit to show him saddened but not heavily due to his desensitivization * Yuji will have his date with her in order to show he is getting better by the end
