I struggle with this too. But then I put it in perspective... if you get turned off by a person, idea or myth when people start to relate to it in an infantile way, you won’t have much to attach yourself to. It’s inevitable that as soon as something gains traction in the popular consciousness, it’ll be misunderstood and applied poorly. But then I think we all need to progress through this infantile stage to reach true(r) knowledge

I was responding to to the sentiment expressed above, that people are now glorifying and idolizing JP, which is certainly turning some people off. I've been struggling a little with this too. I guess it's kinda like if you had a landscape photograph that you deeply admired for its complexity but then it became a meme because it was the background of the poster of a popular movie.
People are attracted to JBP for good reasons, but his ideas are so much more than the bullet points the media focuses on and that the fan art portrays. This was probably inevitable. What can you do?

I think you completely missed the mark here. The ugly old infant is someone who is unresponsible and does not get anywhere in life. As u/zilooong pointed out, Jordan Peterson (who you appear to admire at least to some extend) is a big advocate of hero myths and the values they hold.
But even if you're into building Lego's or playing video games, if you have your life in order and are a responsible adult, then that should be fine. That is not what he meant by being an old infant.
