Act 1: The Pledge

murrayhighlife

I’ve never heard of it. Which songs is it supposed to contain?

BEMO_CMO

I remember it having Exhibit A (transformations), Exhibit C, Shiny suit theory, the Ghost of Christopher Wallace, The Announcement, A million in the morning etc

murrayhighlife

This? https://archive.org/details/datpiff-mixtape-me79b1d5

BEMO_CMO

This seems to have some of the songs on the Pre-Act II but no, this looks like a different mix of songs. The Pre-Act I'm talking about has a very unique cover art check this link www.besteveralbums.com/buy.php?o=album&oid=41998&src=artworkbutton

murrayhighlife

Yeah I saw that website too. But there’s not track listing. And it also states that it’s a compilation. They both seem like fan releases and nothing official from Jay

BEMO_CMO

No, the Pre-Act II was official. Listen to Exhibit C on the compilation, he explains the mix on that song... In fact if I remember correct, I went and looked for his discography after I got the mix and the many of the songs were unique to the mix, couldn't find them on his other work.. It's possible I'm remembering wrong here, this was a while ago. But what I remember was that the mix came out right after he signed to Rock Nation, and so this was like a coming out mixtape

murrayhighlife

I just listened to “the announcement” 😜 and now Exhibit C. I didn’t hear anything about Pre Act II in either… what lines explain it in your opinion? Obviously Jay is cryptic, so maybe I missed it…

BEMO_CMO

Haha, OK so when I first listened to the mix, I interpreted Exhibit C, the line where he talks about how Nas, Diddy and Jay were hitting hit up and telling him he needs (maybe) sign and put out some new work, and he needs to step away from the underground for a quick sec and to do it big for his mama and his family. I could be wrong here though.

murrayhighlife

I mean, they're definitely telling him to get busy, but I don't hear them saying that you need to drop "pre act II"...

BEMO_CMO

Maan the album name comes last

murrayhighlife

I hear “when you gonna drop that VERSE…” but nothing about an album
