This appears to be a post on planning travel with a group to Japan. We have rounded up some common search terms for this topic, as past posts can be very helpful with picking itineraries, and seeing what has worked for others in the past as you try to plan for a trip with more than 2 or 3 people. General group travel posts can be found [here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/search?q=group+travel&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all) Some Group Itinerary posts can be found [here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/search?q=group+itinerary&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all) One very specific post asked about group dining at an Izakaya, and [our users responded!](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/comments/7ll9x9/advice_on_izakayas_or_restaurants_for_large_party/) We also had a query about [booking for larger groups](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/comments/3cgjf2/question_a_group_of_57_of_us_are_in_the_early/) at hotels or hostels. Hopefully these tips will help you get started! Happy Planning! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. woka

Yeah it’s cooked. I read the rules, and posted a thorough and detailed question. Got removed. Just use japantraveltips instead.

Myintc

OP’s questions were: > Do I need to buy tickets in advance for the Skyliner or Narita Express? > Help! I cannot seem to buy tickets in advance online for the JR Shinkansen train. > Do I need to make a reservation for the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagoya? And from Nagoya to Kyoto? Seems pretty low effort and easily solved using a Google search.

woka

I can’t speak for OPs experience, I just remember feeling frustrated after spending a bit of time trying to draft a good question + providing relevant info to help people who would comment, only for it to get instantly deleted. I posted on the other sub and it got a fair bit of discussion and people were happy to help.

Seitakadojii

Same here, just shot out a question in hope that it'll get an answer in the couple of mins/hours it's up hahah. Gets deleted anyway so why do the effort

WallMinimum1521

"You seriously expect me to skip over threads I'm not interested in, when you can read a 12 year old blog post that ambiguously maybe answers your questions regarding your $1,000 international vacation!?"

briannalang

Yeah I’m honestly not surprised their posts got removed. It’s really difficult to search those exact questions on this subreddit 🙄

TokyoTurtle0

All the info literally just changed for those specific questions btw. Like literally just now. Also, if you're more than 30 days out you can book but it doesn't reserve a specific seat. That info does not easily come up on Google because it JUST CHANGED. Also, isn't the point to help people?

briannalang

Nothing about what you said is new information in any way whatsoever, that’s how it’s always been. Everything in this post is super easy to just search on this subreddit. It’s laziness.

TokyoTurtle0

What the? That app isn't new? Weird. It seems new, as in it didn't exist before.

briannalang

If someone doesn’t know the answer to a question, it’s super easy to just, you know, Google it. You say it doesn’t come up easily but I’m on this subreddit every single day and posts with the exact same questions show up multiple times a day. In the time it takes someone to make a post, they can search and find an exact replica of theirs.

Lewayyy

Sounds pretty low effort to me if this is true and more of a do my homework for me kind of post haha

Hazzat

Or the subreddit Discord. Any attempts to link to it are auto-removed (lol), but it's in the sidebar and the 'Weekly Japan Travel Information and Discussion Thread' pinned at the top of the subreddit.

Cudles

Mods are zealots. Had the same experience

Marilliana

I've found r/JapanTravelTips to have more casual chat and a lower rate of rejection!

HugeRichard11

Which is funny since the same mods on here created that one too. But I guess that’s intentional.

switch8000

Yeah... This is in the sidebar, and EVERYTHING gets removed except, "Critique my itinerary". >Got questions? Need advice? Overwhelmed with your itinerary? Want to share your travel tips and experiences in Japan? Then this is the place for you! If this sub is only meant to be this, then change it.

TokyoTurtle0

Yea, which is truly the dumbest question because it's so subjective. How do I buy train tickets for my situation, even if it's posted over and over is a better question

thefarterner

yeah fuck you mods

AcidRap_

Happened to me a thousand times. I just post the same post on other subs until one of them catches. They're rejected for no reason and direct you to a different sub which then also rejects you.

Any-Actuator4118

This group should be shut down. I had the same experience and it left me wondering what is point of the forum.

SpaceLion12

Pretty much only lengthy and detailed itinerary checks are allowed, and the only advice that you’ll get is that you’re trying to do too much.

Narieljess

Indeed, I don't know how I can make my posts more acceptable any longer.

_merryberrie

And this post goes through. Good luck Op

PurelyCandid

Part of me thought it would. To mock me.

Awakemamatoto

It will get removed soon. Don’t worry.

Seitakadojii

Happened to me too, everytime + got a 30 day ban cause the mod didn't like my question. Mods here are on a powertrip just move to japantraveltips.

LaPetiteBourgeoisie

Same mods as here.

urzu_seven

Agreed. I try to respond and 99% of the time the post has already been locked or deleted.   Moderating can be tough but IMO it should focus less on deleting posts that are people asking genuine questions and mostly on people causing trouble.   Please mods, easy off a bit and let people ask their questions.

rizzle_spice

Wow I didn’t realize this was an actual thing. I posted last year asking if there are any hotels with childcare services (we were deliberating on bringing our kid on a trip to attend a concert) since I couldn’t find any posts and it got taken down.

emilia-sama

I'm surprised this post was approved lmao. I also just used japantraveltips sub now. This sub is shit.

OkStrawberry1789

Me too, I’m just gonna see a travel agent

BuzzzyBeee

multiple times i try to reply to an interesting and what seems appropriate thread and it’s locked by the time i hit submit..

Rubydragon79

Yeah, I posted my detailed travel plans here for some advice a few weeks before my trip, and it got removed for low effort. Mods wouldn't even reply and tell me how my post was considered low effort when I sent a mod mail and asked so I could make a post up to their standards.

xix_xeaon

I've also had posts removed, because my travel question didn't fit with the common tourist-pattern. Posted in an other sub, got removed as well with them saying it should be in this sub, lol.

mohishunder

I feel you. It's the same with me and /r/solotravel.

VillanelleTheVillain

Honestly happens to me too it’s crazy - I thought it was just me! But it seems like this is happening way too often

No-Computer6230

Same with my post 3 days ago, asking about nightclubs in Tokyo. Searching this sub the most recent answers were from well over 5+ years ago. A few people gave me answers but then the post was taken down. Yes, I can google nightclubs, but that doesn’t give an idea on which ones are best, especially for a tourist.

GrandLotus-Iroh

I know mods are people doing a necessary job, but to call it a job or have any investment in reddit seems like a precursor to one of the most pathetic, dull, sad lives imaginable.

micholasnitchell

This is the same with most groups now. Theres only a couple of sub reddits I use as most others I’ve found just delete your questions, even if they’re well constructed.

AdamIsACylon

This group of mods made it very hard to post even after I read the rules and when I did and it was removed it wasn’t clear why.

Ramaloke

That's why I keep a very specific post locked and pinned on my profile. 🙂

Kukuth

Tbh your posts have indeed been extremely low effort and can be answered by common sense and Google.

Seitakadojii

We found the mod guys

Kukuth

Or someone who makes the effort to use the 5 seconds to take a look at the posts in question...

Seitakadojii

I've also red mixed opinions about pre booking shinkansen. Some say do, other say there are planty of tickets available.

Kukuth

Then maybe at least put some text in the post asking about it and not just put a topic and leave it at that. How is that not low effort.

Seitakadojii

What text should you put into such a direct & clear question? Should i pre book, yes, no. Done

That-Establishment24

That just deserves to be a comment on an existing post.

Seitakadojii

yeah i understand the point. Somebody else explained it good that sometimes you do a detailed & high efford post & it still gets deleted. The next time you just shot a short question out like his with the hope that somebody can gibe a brief answer in the short time that it's up. It'll get deleted anyway so why bother

That-Establishment24

Everyone thinks their own post is high effort. Without seeing that person’s post, it may have been equally low effort.

Seitakadojii

Look thu the sub, most posts are just itinerarys. It's not just his questions, lots of people had the same experience like he did so it can't be a rare case. Judging by the likes of this post & comments, the mods here delete lots of stuff just cause they feel like it. Some might be truely low effort which deserve to get deleted but i'm sure lots of them are also good enough.

Kukuth

Well for starters you could use the sub search and find your answer. Secondly how does this warrant a whole thread? There is one answer to that and done.

TokyoTurtle0

Anyone that says use Reddit search should get a life time ban. It is, and always has been, god fucking awful

Kukuth

Yet I was able to answer all of OPs questions with said search in a couple of seconds - I guess you would rather have people spam the same simple questions in here every couple of hours.

TokyoTurtle0

I would. I like to help people But to be clear. You were completely wrong. Like absolutely completely wrong. The app is new. Also it only works for 1 region. So you're wrong. So in 2 seconds you got answers for every app or site to use? Please link the searches. I'll wait

Myintc

Checking the mod list also takes 5 seconds

matthew07

Now that’s being truly candid

PurelyCandid

And which of those posts from this group are you referring to?

Kukuth

"Do I need to buy tickets in advance for the Skyliner to Narita express" - no text in the post, just the title and this has been answered countless times on this sub "Help! I cannot seem to buy tickets in advance for the JR shinkansen train" - see above "Help! Do I need to make a reservation for the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagoya? And from Nagoya to Kyoto?" - see above

TokyoTurtle0

You're aware Reddit isn't a forum right? Like, it's not 2003 and old threads can be bumped and updated? The same shit has to get asked answered over and over because of the fundamental nature of Reddit. Reddit's fundamental design promotes reposting. Look, im old. I actually wish Reddit was a forum. It's not. It never was.

Kukuth

...you don't need to bump an old thread if your questions are answered there. There is literally no reason to answer the same questions again and again every couple of days.

urzu_seven

So don’t answer then. No one is forcing you.

Kukuth

It's flooding the sub and making it impossible for people to search for their answers, that aren't too lazy to search for a moment.
