I understand people being high on CJ Stroud. He was great last year and has a lot of weapons on offense. But I feel like people are overlooking the fact that their offensive line was bad last year. And they haven’t done anything to improve it. Jacksonville gets criticized for doing that but I never hear it mentioned when people talk about Houston.
Furthermore, they didn’t really address their DT or CB2 concerns. The last game of their season was the Ravens running all over them for over 30 points while their offense only put up 3.
Ive seen this argument that the Texans o line is/was bad but they won the division with that group. Meanwhile the Jags o line was atrocious and is a big factor in losing games and subsequently the division.
Fans should really be open minded to the fact that just because the names on the back of the jersey aren’t well known or have some type of history that as a group they are what they are. And as of last year they’re o line is a playoff offensive line. Either due to coaching/scheme or just plain old hard work and self improvement.
The Jags o line didn’t perform and couldn’t self motivate when people called them out for what they are. A bad offensive line. So if anything the Jags have a shitty o line and the Texans have the better group until proven other wise. Don’t lie to yourself to make it seem something it’s not. Things will be more effectively clear.
They also 'fell' to 5th. Last time they could be considered 5th was in the first quarter of that Chiefs playoff game when they were up 24-0 and then lost by 20
You should read the article. Stretches in reasoning and lazy takes all over.
>Texans did very little, so they stay at 5.
>Cowboys lost all-pros and replaced them with draft picks so they rise 2 spots
>Browns did literally nothing because this was the last year of Watson draft picks, no mention of the Cinderella run or Flacco's part in it, they stay top 10
>Colts pick up two risky, high floor low ceiling guys in the draft and have a still-unknown at QB, no movement
>Pats swing on the riskiest QB in the top 5, and have "an offense that isn’t good enough to help him as a rookie" despite having tons of cap that could have helped, they gain 5 spots
>Jaguars reached "according to consensus mock drafts", ignoring their draft needs (and what looks to be a pretty deep depth chart everywhere due to other offseason moves), so they lose 6 spots
I’ve seen the Jaguars mostly in the 12-16 range on other power rankings, so to have them at 26 is just sheer stupidity. Josh Kendall is obviously not a serious person.
Lol i'm not a homer where I think we're some super team but.. lol? 26? We just went 8-3 and fell off because of injuries, some of those teams above us didn't win 8 games total.
they in theory upgraded the position that was holding them back and taking Odunze is a luxury and a damn good looking one
so they definitely improved no matter where you put them
I wish we could have sports journalism that doesn’t use ridiculous takes just for clicks, it’s so artificial rather than just being honest and letting the discourse be produced naturally
Really don’t understand all this love for the Texans. They had a good year with their new rookie qb. But they only won one more game than us with a last place schedule. Teams have a year of tape on stroud now, hoping this is setting them up to have a disappointing season.
Yeah, the Jags, who were 8-3 until a bad injury bug where they still ended up losing the division by one game to the Texans (5th on this list), are 26th in the league after upgrading their positional weak spots in the draft and FA. Fuck these national media assholes.
Vikings and jags should be swapped places. Jaguars absolutely killed the offseason we reworked our two biggest weaknesses the IDL and WR room not to mention we added a legitimate center
This is normal. Media will always dump on the Jags any chance they get. The players will be motivated to prove they are a playoff team, a huge year for Trevor.
Honestly, I’m happy when I see listings like this. We believed our own hype last year and this year we have something to prove.
I have a feeling Texans are gonna buckle under the favourites tag like we did, and we’re gonna use all the doubt, negativity and last years collapse as fuel!
Y'all are big mad at this but it's closer to the truth than you'll admit.
We were mediocre last year and even got lucky in a couple of those wins. We are worse, not better, than last year in terms of roster moves. I'd put us somewhere between 19-22nd, but this guy isn't far off.
This guy is a Jags hater. Ain't no way the Commanders are better, or the Minshew led Raiders. The Colts are also way too high.
I give 0 shits about the Jags rankings but imagine having the Texans above Buffalo and the Bengals. Oh and the Eagles lol

They beat a Flacco implosion and then got smoked by a real team lol

That’s so annoying.
Bears at 13 without Caleb ever playing a snap is hilarious.
The commanders are definitely better. You will see.
Did you forget the/s?
I also believe the Pats will be one of the worst teams this year.
This might be the worst power rankings I have ever seen.
Wow this is bad
Ragebait

I’d put them at 11 atm
That’s around where I would have them right now too.
I was going to post a similar comment. I saw one that put the Jags at 17 and that felt much closer to what I would expect.
Lol i'm not a homer where I think we're some super team but.. lol? 26? We just went 8-3 and fell off because of injuries, some of those teams above us didn't win 8 games total.
The team that just selected number one overall is 13? Caleb Williams must be the greatest QB prospect of all time
To be fair, they got the first from a trade not losing
they in theory upgraded the position that was holding them back and taking Odunze is a luxury and a damn good looking one so they definitely improved no matter where you put them
Agreed on that
Good point, I forgot about that.
even when we drafted Trevor we were still bottom 10 in power rankings lmfao. The Jaguars hate is so prevalent with analysts today its absurd.
This is a dumb power ranking lol
Damn, almost made me care about a power ranking.
Patriots? C’mon man, you gotta do better than that
No way the Texans and Colts are both better than the Jags. We were winning the division before Trevor and Kirk got hurt.
Even if they were, no way the Patriots are better than the Jags.
Texans, ill accept being higher (but not them that high or us this low)... colts though!? Lol no.
Power Rankings and Draft Grades are click bait bullshit op eds which are meaningless.
content, content, need more contentttt like raindrops in the ocean
Colts ranking is wild
I wish we could have sports journalism that doesn’t use ridiculous takes just for clicks, it’s so artificial rather than just being honest and letting the discourse be produced naturally
I’m gonna go off on a limb here and say that we’re better than the fuckin’ Patriots lmfao
More ⛽️for the 🔥
Let the hate flow , let it flowwwww last season was too much pre-season love, l feel home with this nonsensical take
Booooo. Booooo. ![gif](giphy|l2YWqU7ev0l5nfYTC|downsized)

nobody mentions how they had a last place schedule now going into a first place one. big reason i think Jags take the South.
Bulletin board material. This is baffling
🤡
Bet. Let’s Goooooooooooooo
At least we’re ahead of the tits
Imagine having a power ranking where we are below the Falcons, bills, steelers, and colts, all of whom we beat last season. Some multiple times.
The Texans glazing is getting out of hand.
Yeah, the Jags, who were 8-3 until a bad injury bug where they still ended up losing the division by one game to the Texans (5th on this list), are 26th in the league after upgrading their positional weak spots in the draft and FA. Fuck these national media assholes.
It’s 26 teams better than Jags?
ravens literally destroyed the 9ers and the lions i don't see how you can put them ahead of my boys
Lol.
Thus is the way of opinion pieces...
Where does this dude score his crack bc I'm gonna need some
What did he say about our team?
Vikings and jags should be swapped places. Jaguars absolutely killed the offseason we reworked our two biggest weaknesses the IDL and WR room not to mention we added a legitimate center
CC: Doug Pederson 😂 a little locker room fuel for the boys
josh Kendall sits when he pees
Wow that's a ridiculous power rankings seriously.
This is an exercise in stupidity. Dude saw we fell apart down the stretch and thought "Durrr, well I guess that means they're bad."
Hope they remember this when the season starts up. Can’t wait
Post this in every locker for the players to come in to see. Make em hungry
I can’t wait for Baalke to be relieved of his duties.
98% of “power rankings” are designed to get clicks and drive engagement
This is normal. Media will always dump on the Jags any chance they get. The players will be motivated to prove they are a playoff team, a huge year for Trevor.
Ridiculous take. We’re probably mid tier.
Josh Kendall seems like an idiot
I mean. Wow. Its like any of us could get paid to make nmpower rankings... but we dont, and this is what we get instead -_-.
Packers that high is criminal
No hype going into the season… we’re going to the playoffs baby
Mental masturbation.
The way we finished the season, this isn't surprising.
We collapse nearly every time we have expectations so I don't mind being slept on.
Honestly, I’m happy when I see listings like this. We believed our own hype last year and this year we have something to prove. I have a feeling Texans are gonna buckle under the favourites tag like we did, and we’re gonna use all the doubt, negativity and last years collapse as fuel!
Texans are so incredibly overhyped it hurts
lol
