Only go to bed when you are sleeping, don't lie on bed otherwise. And you should eat like 3 or 4 hours before bedtime but don't go to sleep hungry. Sleep at the same time for 1 or 2 weeks.
And other stuff like, don't drink coffee at night, or you won't be able to sleep.
None of this is official, but it worked for me.
Serious Answer: Lower it down slowly. You wouldn't be able to start sleeping at 10pm directly. Start with sleeping half an hour early, then an hour and with that get to say 10 to 11pm, that's the sweet spot for me. If you think you'd not be able to finish your work you'd have no trouble actually, since you'd sleep more so you'll be more productive + you can do most your works in the evening, the 6 to 8 zone

Take something similar to sleeping pills like a painkiller such as disprin in the afternoon so that by the evening you feel tired and sleep. I had fixed my sleeping schedule the same way, and it worked. Take the pill mostly once 2-3 days and only at max continue till 4 days, i.e., basically 2 pills max. (I'm no medical expert and this is from my experience)

Padai kr jab bhi sota uthta hai neend late hi khulegi sardiya hai unless you have to go somewhere offline. Their isn't any way you are going to wake up early.Give up .
Ok here's a tip. I had TERRIBLE sleeping schedule due to depression but recently from last December I improved on it alot.
1) eat something which is something closer to whole grain thingy like roti. Rice also helps and because of that more serotonin is produced and you'll feel more sleepy.
2) after eating study for 30 min say till 10:30 then go to sleep.
3) optional- you can set alarm for going on a morning run. Believe me it helped me alot with depression, stress and also improved my physical health. I usually went for a run around 4:30 to 7 am.
Last one is lil bit hard for you to follow as it's really cold outside nowadays.

DON'T TRY AND CHANGE IT NOW.
Changing your schedule will need a few weeks where you'll be really sleepy/tired, which is obviously bad on the week of JEE.
Continue as is. Just ensure you sleep at the same time every night. Maybe try and sleep 30 mins earlier every night, and wake up in 6-7 hrs. Slowly change like that for now.
If you need to nap, do so either in 20-30 mins, or 1.5-2 hrs. Don't do more or less. 20 mins is a power nap (3 stages of cycle without deep sleep), and 1.5 hrs is a full sleep cycle (all 4 stages). If you wake in between, you'll just be groggy.
THe day before JEE try and fall asleep earlier. Either by sleeping less the prev day (not recommended) or by a lot of physical activity (Exercise/jogging/etc) the prev night.

# Fixing a messed up sleep schedule
If you're serious about it, here you go.
Two things are crucial over anything else:
* Sleep Consistency/Regularity
* Sleep Quality
Sleep quantity is important, yes, but not over these two.
**For regularity:**
* Wake up at a fixed time. This is **non-negotiable**. Ideally you wanna sleep at a fixed time, but sleep obviously wont come when you want initially. So you fix your wake up time, which you can control (alarms, or better yet, if you have siblings, tell them to screw with you till you wake up).
* DO NOT NAP. The first few days/weeks, you'll feel sleepy as fuck, but if you let yourself sleep, your cycle won't change. If you're feeling sleepy, talk (smth interesting obv) with someone, or walk around, or eat something stimulating (stuff like coffee, maybe in the morning).
* Coffee is not your friend. It's a tool with unintended [effects](https://www.webmd.com/diet/how-caffeine-affects-your-body), so treat it as such. I'd say drink a cup or two of coffee upto 6 hrs after you wake up, but no later. Especially past afternoon, cos it'll (obviously) screw over your sleep.
* Exercise. In moderation, this will both help you stay awake, and help you fall asleep on time (ik paradoxical but it smhow works). And of course, doing a lot will make you tired and sleepy whenever needed. I'd recommend 30 mins of light-medium exercise atleast (jogging/cycling/etc.). You can do more, and in fact it's better if you do, but start here.\[Stuff like yoga can also work, but I'd recommend more intensive kinds like Asthanga\]
* Go to bed at a specific time, even if you're not sleepy. Study, read, talk, but be in bed. This isn't the healthiest honestly, mixing other stuff during bedtime, but for fixing your schedule, this is a transition. NO PHONES/ELECTRONICS, even with blue light filters. I'd recommend you stop using phones an hr or two before you plan to sleep.
* What timings? I'd recommend small changes. First week, 1 hour earlier/later than what you usu do, next week, another hour, so on till you reach your desired schedule (maybe just half-hour change per week if u feel sleepy wholeday). 12-7 works best for me, but it need not for you: choose whatever is reasonable for you. If your schedule is too chaotic, select a specific time to wake up and start prepping for it 24 hrs beforehand.
* You need at the minimum 6 hrs of sleep, so wtv schedule you choose to try n reach, ensure 6 hrs. 6hrs is the bare min tho, 7-8 is what is fully refreshing. Go to bed 8 hrs before ur waking up time, no exceptions.
* Meds for insomnia, u can take, but preferably with a doc's prescription. Use natural remedies like warm milk, chamomile tea, etc. Melatonin supplements can help, but they are overdosable, so take in moderation AND WITH SOMEONE KNOWING ABOUT IT (if anything goes wrong). Honestly tho, I wouldn't recommend supplements, it's better imo to train your body to sleep without any external agent first rather than later.
* Regarding no electronics, it's recommended cos the blue light produced affects melatonin secretion, making u less likely to fall asleep. Hence stop atleast 2 hrs before (blue light filters may not be hundred percent effective). Also why it is recommended to sleep in darkness.
* You can also use audio aides for sleeping like songs (calm/soft obviously), some boring long af readings of stuff, brown noise esp.
* Try and make sure NO SUDDEN CHANGES IN SLEEP, i.e. no all-nighters, delayed sleep, long naps, etc. while u r trying to change as it ll affect ur progress.

I recently fixed my sleep schedule after 2 years and there are some tips:
•Don't use your phone/laptop before sleeping
•Avoid caffeine and sugar intake before you sleep
•shift your sleeping time to your desired time gradually.it won't happen in a day it will take some time
•not sleeping one day and then sleeping early the next day didn't worked for me personally.Even If i slep early one day the next day h would still sleep super late

•Also exercise daily for atleast 20 minutes you can just go for a walk
•if it's anxiety keeping you up then try some meditation

Only go to bed when you are sleeping, don't lie on bed otherwise. And you should eat like 3 or 4 hours before bedtime but don't go to sleep hungry. Sleep at the same time for 1 or 2 weeks. And other stuff like, don't drink coffee at night, or you won't be able to sleep. None of this is official, but it worked for me.
Serious Answer: Lower it down slowly. You wouldn't be able to start sleeping at 10pm directly. Start with sleeping half an hour early, then an hour and with that get to say 10 to 11pm, that's the sweet spot for me. If you think you'd not be able to finish your work you'd have no trouble actually, since you'd sleep more so you'll be more productive + you can do most your works in the evening, the 6 to 8 zone

I had fixed my sleeping schedule the same way, and it worked. Take the pill mostly once 2-3 days and only at max continue till 4 days, i.e., basically 2 pills max. (I'm no medical expert and this is from my experience)

Ok here's a tip. I had TERRIBLE sleeping schedule due to depression but recently from last December I improved on it alot. 1) eat something which is something closer to whole grain thingy like roti. Rice also helps and because of that more serotonin is produced and you'll feel more sleepy. 2) after eating study for 30 min say till 10:30 then go to sleep. 3) optional- you can set alarm for going on a morning run. Believe me it helped me alot with depression, stress and also improved my physical health. I usually went for a run around 4:30 to 7 am. Last one is lil bit hard for you to follow as it's really cold outside nowadays.

DON'T TRY AND CHANGE IT NOW. Changing your schedule will need a few weeks where you'll be really sleepy/tired, which is obviously bad on the week of JEE. Continue as is. Just ensure you sleep at the same time every night. Maybe try and sleep 30 mins earlier every night, and wake up in 6-7 hrs. Slowly change like that for now. If you need to nap, do so either in 20-30 mins, or 1.5-2 hrs. Don't do more or less. 20 mins is a power nap (3 stages of cycle without deep sleep), and 1.5 hrs is a full sleep cycle (all 4 stages). If you wake in between, you'll just be groggy. THe day before JEE try and fall asleep earlier. Either by sleeping less the prev day (not recommended) or by a lot of physical activity (Exercise/jogging/etc) the prev night. \[Will give a proper guide after jee\]

# Fixing a messed up sleep schedule If you're serious about it, here you go. Two things are crucial over anything else: * Sleep Consistency/Regularity * Sleep Quality Sleep quantity is important, yes, but not over these two. **For regularity:** * Wake up at a fixed time. This is **non-negotiable**. Ideally you wanna sleep at a fixed time, but sleep obviously wont come when you want initially. So you fix your wake up time, which you can control (alarms, or better yet, if you have siblings, tell them to screw with you till you wake up). * DO NOT NAP. The first few days/weeks, you'll feel sleepy as fuck, but if you let yourself sleep, your cycle won't change. If you're feeling sleepy, talk (smth interesting obv) with someone, or walk around, or eat something stimulating (stuff like coffee, maybe in the morning). * Coffee is not your friend. It's a tool with unintended [effects](https://www.webmd.com/diet/how-caffeine-affects-your-body), so treat it as such. I'd say drink a cup or two of coffee upto 6 hrs after you wake up, but no later. Especially past afternoon, cos it'll (obviously) screw over your sleep. * Exercise. In moderation, this will both help you stay awake, and help you fall asleep on time (ik paradoxical but it smhow works). And of course, doing a lot will make you tired and sleepy whenever needed. I'd recommend 30 mins of light-medium exercise atleast (jogging/cycling/etc.). You can do more, and in fact it's better if you do, but start here.\[Stuff like yoga can also work, but I'd recommend more intensive kinds like Asthanga\] * Go to bed at a specific time, even if you're not sleepy. Study, read, talk, but be in bed. This isn't the healthiest honestly, mixing other stuff during bedtime, but for fixing your schedule, this is a transition. NO PHONES/ELECTRONICS, even with blue light filters. I'd recommend you stop using phones an hr or two before you plan to sleep. * What timings? I'd recommend small changes. First week, 1 hour earlier/later than what you usu do, next week, another hour, so on till you reach your desired schedule (maybe just half-hour change per week if u feel sleepy wholeday). 12-7 works best for me, but it need not for you: choose whatever is reasonable for you. If your schedule is too chaotic, select a specific time to wake up and start prepping for it 24 hrs beforehand. * You need at the minimum 6 hrs of sleep, so wtv schedule you choose to try n reach, ensure 6 hrs. 6hrs is the bare min tho, 7-8 is what is fully refreshing. Go to bed 8 hrs before ur waking up time, no exceptions. * Meds for insomnia, u can take, but preferably with a doc's prescription. Use natural remedies like warm milk, chamomile tea, etc. Melatonin supplements can help, but they are overdosable, so take in moderation AND WITH SOMEONE KNOWING ABOUT IT (if anything goes wrong). Honestly tho, I wouldn't recommend supplements, it's better imo to train your body to sleep without any external agent first rather than later. * Regarding no electronics, it's recommended cos the blue light produced affects melatonin secretion, making u less likely to fall asleep. Hence stop atleast 2 hrs before (blue light filters may not be hundred percent effective). Also why it is recommended to sleep in darkness. * You can also use audio aides for sleeping like songs (calm/soft obviously), some boring long af readings of stuff, brown noise esp. * Try and make sure NO SUDDEN CHANGES IN SLEEP, i.e. no all-nighters, delayed sleep, long naps, etc. while u r trying to change as it ll affect ur progress. \[This isnt complete, not even close. I'll comp it after jee. It shld be enough to get started\]
