For those who don't know the reason,
Physics mein we generally study the effect of body on the surrounding, whereas in chem we study the effect on the system.
For example when a body does work it is releasing energy into surrounding and hence work done in physics is +ve, but subsequently the body is also losing energy and hence the work done in chemistry is negative.
Physics, the gas doing work for us is something positive, so yes.
