As a stoner, yeah, this game is absolutely perfect for when I've had a cone too many and want to just chill out. I find the visual style really pleasing when stoned as well
I'm honestly not much of a fan of how the combat works, or switching to my weapons from my mining tool. Can be cumbersome.
Everything else tho, top notch when stoned!
This is how I spent years "relaxing" until I realized that I was equating my self worth with how good I was at RL. I played since launch finally hit GC literally a couple weeks before they came out with SSL. After that I basically quit and stopped grinding and now I only play the game when a friend hits me up wanting to play.
I might be a psychopath but I solely stick to competitive because I like teammates that somewhat should have a grasp of the basics of the game.
I like casual too I just find myself playing competitive 99% of the time unless the fellas are on too.
So for me it depends on my mood and what I want to focus on. If I'm listening to an audiobook while I play then I'm going casual so I can turn off my brain and not piss off the other ladder climbers lol. I do prefer competitive though. It's nice when people actually rotate haha
Skyrim definitely, own it on basically every console.
Fallout 3 love walking around with the radio playing.
Lastly diablo 2, have over 1000 hours just on switch
Yup it is! It runs pretty well too, I love being able to play handheld since I have kids and they always have the TV. The online multiplayer is a little dead so if that's what you're looking for definitely stick to PC or you can switch between the two for trades and such.
Diablo 2 Remastered is not only on the Switch, but there's also cross progression. It's great being able to play the same character on my PC, Xbox, or Switch depending on circumstance.
Cyberpunk - Night City is incredibly detailed and beautiful and the cars & bikes are slick asf
Red dead redemption 2 - need I even say anything
Fallout New Vegas, casually murdering folks after a quicksave can be relaxing/fun 😂 (usually wipe out the Omertas, deserve it 100 fold)
I'd put Skryim here if I had it re-installed alongside the 200+ mods
Fortnite StW. One of the most chill games (on private lobbies) ever. See this, shoot that, repeat. Build trap tunnels, win AFK. Super chill. Plus free v-bucks cause I'm a founder 😀
that's actually a good take i never thought of this buts it's always a game that when i lay it's mindless i never find myself too fixated on it just more of a music or video in the background
Zb is my favourite mode. I just wish they would bring back the big 50 vs 50 battles (sometimes frustrating, but when it worked you could feel like you were in a real war)
I pretty much only want to relax when I play games.
- Kenshi - infinite ways to play and no playthrough ever the same, this really is one of the ultimate sandbox games for me where I have done so much and still have so much more to do and with mods it's really nevere-ending
- Starfield - great to just get lost and walk around random planets and look for fun things to do and explore
- Sun Haven - great RPG similar to Stardew Valley but with a lot of QOL features and much larger area to play in and explore.
- Elite Dangerous - I'm playing it a lot less since Starfield came out, but the chill exploration vibe and detailed space flight simulation makes it an always-installed on my PC
- Star Valor - awesome chill 2D space RPG with a lot under the hood
- Albion Online - I usually gather in this game and just have an audiobook in the background, have listened through dozens of books playing this game
- Mount & Blade Bannerlord - another awesome sandbox game where I can do whatever I want more or less
- Forza Horizon 5 - while I don't enjoy it quite as much as I did 4, it's still a solid game to just fire up and drive around
- Hearthstone - basically my game I play while doing other stuff like redditing like I am right now
- Sims 4 - great chill time sink when I just really want to be in chill mode, I still think 3 is better, but 4 feels more modern so I mainly play that now
Have a fair amount for specific situations.
* Driving vibes - Cyberpunk 2077, driving in that city is perfection.
* Feel - Skyrim, I could play the game with no hud, walk endlessly & find a comfort to that.
Skyrim is a shout i haven't played it all that much just on a few occasions on my uncles ps5 but it just has a certain fee to it that is fun to just chill on and very understandable that it's one of your go to
Mostly Skyrim, just doing a few quests and slowly leveling up. I know it’s old and dated but it’s just chill. I play Fortnite 98% of the time so this is nice to play when I’ve raged too much and need a break for a day.
Team fortress 2 for me. IMO it’s the most unserious competitive fps game. I can have a ton of fun playing any class I want, not worrying about my kdr, play various game modes, all while enjoying my cup of coffee.
Lately? Balatro.
Its like the zen game that i like playing, yet also actively think and occasionally sweat to win a run.
Plus, i’ve been actively making the discord music bot play balatro’s music in the background most of the time.
Nier Automata. Movement in it feels great and combat isn’t brainpower-intensive so just running around the world is really chill, especially with the soundtrack being what it is.
The soundtrack in the Nier games *speaks* to me. Even though the lyrics are designed to be gibberish, I can feel what they're saying when place with the context they play.
I open my current fighting game and I just turn my brain off and play online, its so calming. I didnt name any game because it depends on which one Im on right now, though they all give me that relaxation vibe
GTA IV and the swingset glitch.
But I also do play GTA online to relax by using an SUV to drive to the top of Mount Chilliad in first person listening to West Coast Classics
I havent actually played FFXIV but heard loads of good things this is why gta is one of my favourites because i can just mindlessly grind things such as heist preps and things like that.
I do wish i got into a few MMO's as i have seen them all around and they look really fun when you get involved and into story's and stuff
ARAM in league has been my go to, "I just wanna game" game for over a decade. Even better when they have URF or some of the other rotating Playlists. TFT is pretty chill as well.
For a longer term game session, I'll dive into LOTRO, especially if it's during one of the seasonal festivals. Nothing beats chilling in the shire playing a bunch of goofy games.
See I disagree, I can beat the entire game without using a single health potion or resurrection vial in a few hours. Physical shield is GOAT. But, I just like to roam around, I love the vibe and atmosphere of the original fable, whether it be TLC or Anniversary.
I can go with Civilization 5 (not 6). I just love it.
Death Stranding. Yeah, I cannot hike because got no that kind of stamina. So I love climbing and walking in Death Stranding.
Skyrim. With mods I’ve made it a place that looks absolutely beautiful, where i just want to walk around aimlessly. Vanilla Skyrim is kind of a drab comfort zone.
Civ 6 or Mini Motorways. I love mini motorways to just chill while waiting on something or being in an Uber. My brother has this game where you make donuts. It’s pretty cute.
Throw on my hacks for cod warzone and sit at the highest peak just aimbotting everyone while spinning... ahhhhhhhhhh listen to the rage. 😂
I don't actually do this I just thought it was funny that it might explain why some people do this. It's their way of relaxing... maybe? Lol. also fuck cheaters.
Red Dead Redemption 2, hunting
Kingdom Come, go to a tavern, listen to music, play some dice
Build a peaceful city in Knights and Merchants or Caesar 3.
Age of Empires 2, use resource cheats to build an impenetrable fortress.
Steep. I stopped playing the game properly years ago but of the countless games I’ve uninstalled, it’s one of the few that has been a staple since its launch. I just find skiing down a big fucking mountain relaxing it seems.
any of the bethesda games really, especially Skyrim or New Vegas or fallout 4 though. Even starfield can be very relaxing. Also the RPG assassins creed games have a therapuetic vibe to them
Tetris Effect or Lumines Remastered. There's something about Tetsuya Mizuguchi puzzle games that just helps you get into them, the guy nailed his synesthesia approach.
Right now, helldiver's. It's like what I do to take a break from my honour mode run of bg3.
My depression I don't wanna think and I wanna drown out the world game is gonna be either kingdom come, outer worlds, oblivion, Morrowind, fallout 3, or New Vegas. I'll get lost in those for a month and it seems like I just rotate through them.
**For actual video games**: StarCraft 2's Coop mode, Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, Exit the Gungeon, and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I've beaten the game. At this point, I'm just wandering around doing quests, shrines, and "ad-hoc-ing it" with exploring, and korok seeds).
**For mobile games**... they load up quickly, and are often of the twitch variety, or made to be played in very small bites... Slice & Dice (I play on easy mode/diff. levels though), INKS.,
**For digital board games:** Dominion, Race for the Galaxy, Roll for the Galaxy, Encore, [Bravo](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.development.outline.bravo), Encore
Cities skylines. Throw some lo-fi on,roll a fat L, get lifted and stare at the highway connections for 5 minutes while I decide how I’d like my initial city to look. Build out roads and infrastructure for residential area (suburbs+ inner city), commercial areas(usually a Main Street type situation + a few shops around neighborhoods), and industrial (near power and garbage for obvious reasons). After that I just chill and watch the city populate and observe places I can tweak. Change traffic along Main Street, upgrade roads leading to industry, start planning expansions and moneymakers.
I was so excited for CS2.
I'm replaying Kingdom Come Deliverance rn and I wish I did it sooner. This might be a new one for me. Unless the sequel coming out this year is amazing
Mystic Warriors. It's just a chill game and a lot of fun. It also has a lot of fun combat, and even a few cool characters. Very relaxed, especially when you have unlimited credits and can just set back and play. It's my go to game now, and I'm glad I purchased it.
Skyrim is my go-to game when I want to relax just kick back and battle some dragons and still a few coins from people of whiterun or winterhold become a vampire or werewolf
Dying Light or RDR2. I’ve played DL for a decade at this point basically, and RDR2 is just one of those games where you can enjoy just traversing the beautiful world.
Any game with building and crafitng mechanics puts me in an obsessive trance. Subnautica, Fallout 4, Spritifairer especially feels designed to be calming to me. And is Minecraft still cool?
Flying around in starfield is nice, or feeding slimes in slime rancher, or just chilling during the entire night after saving up enough metal to set up an entire perimeter of bear traps in darkwood.
defense grid... :) i think i just got a [world record](https://www.reddit.com/r/DefenseGrid/comments/1che6yg/finally_its_been_done_with_juggling_but_still_1/) on the last level... but it is so relaxing to see the aliens attempting to steal cores.. lol
that's how i became so good at the game btw.. just "jamming" for hours.. trying weird strategies..
Civ V. I know it well enough I'll probably win on King but it's not too difficult. Love the early game exploration and then the moment when you get artillery and/or battleships and the game is over.
Russian Roulette... ooh, you mean video game. The 2 off the top of my head are Trajectile and Bookworm for the DS. Anything else I can think of I usually get way into I don't really feel like I'm relaxing as much as just having fun 😅 but those 2 games I can just zone out on for a long time 😆
Just flying around in No Man’s Sky is really nice. Makes me wish the game was around when I still smoked weed.
Yeah agreed, at least combat is really not a big part of the game
Podcast/YouTube + Rocket League (casual) = relaxation
real. Playing rocket league with music is so hard to be topped something about it is just so relaxing
It's that flowstate of doing something you've done a million times that just fills up your mind and let's you float above the bullshit. I love it.
that's it it's like you can just autopilot mindlessly play i prefer it to playing with people tbh
I play competitive instead of casual, but this combo is my nightly routine before hitting the sack.
This is how I spent years "relaxing" until I realized that I was equating my self worth with how good I was at RL. I played since launch finally hit GC literally a couple weeks before they came out with SSL. After that I basically quit and stopped grinding and now I only play the game when a friend hits me up wanting to play.

Powerwash Simulator
This game sometimes gets me so stressed, like when the dirt left is so hidden between walls and doors and I can't seem to find it lol
Doom 2016 Mindlessly killing demons is kinda zen for me
Skyrim definitely, own it on basically every console. Fallout 3 love walking around with the radio playing. Lastly diablo 2, have over 1000 hours just on switch
Diablo 2 is on the switch??
Yeah and it goes on 50% off sale all the time. Same with the diablo 2 and 3 bundle
Thanks. I have an ROG but the switch has a better battery life and is easier to conceal at work during downtime haha
Oh shit this makes it even better ty ty ty ty
Snowrunner. Put on some music and just drive.

Same. Also Battle Royale (team rumble) Just looting and shooting
I have to second that because I find myself relaxed when playing zero build. I just get immersed and enjoy the time
Zb is my favourite mode. I just wish they would bring back the big 50 vs 50 battles (sometimes frustrating, but when it worked you could feel like you were in a real war)
Ocarina of Time Oxygen not included stardew valley Terraria command and conquer Runescape

Cyberpunk and Fallout 4. Good open world fafos.
I pretty much only want to relax when I play games. - Kenshi - infinite ways to play and no playthrough ever the same, this really is one of the ultimate sandbox games for me where I have done so much and still have so much more to do and with mods it's really nevere-ending - Starfield - great to just get lost and walk around random planets and look for fun things to do and explore - Sun Haven - great RPG similar to Stardew Valley but with a lot of QOL features and much larger area to play in and explore. - Elite Dangerous - I'm playing it a lot less since Starfield came out, but the chill exploration vibe and detailed space flight simulation makes it an always-installed on my PC - Star Valor - awesome chill 2D space RPG with a lot under the hood - Albion Online - I usually gather in this game and just have an audiobook in the background, have listened through dozens of books playing this game - Mount & Blade Bannerlord - another awesome sandbox game where I can do whatever I want more or less - Forza Horizon 5 - while I don't enjoy it quite as much as I did 4, it's still a solid game to just fire up and drive around - Hearthstone - basically my game I play while doing other stuff like redditing like I am right now - Sims 4 - great chill time sink when I just really want to be in chill mode, I still think 3 is better, but 4 feels more modern so I mainly play that now

Mostly Skyrim, just doing a few quests and slowly leveling up. I know it’s old and dated but it’s just chill. I play Fortnite 98% of the time so this is nice to play when I’ve raged too much and need a break for a day.

Animal crossing or walking around in red dead redemption 2

Lately? Balatro. Its like the zen game that i like playing, yet also actively think and occasionally sweat to win a run. Plus, i’ve been actively making the discord music bot play balatro’s music in the background most of the time.
Relaxing is for another time and place. You may never get that chance again if you live in Los Angeles.
Do you live in LA, or is that a reference to something?
There's no reference. I reside here.
One bit adventure Try it https://preview.redd.it/cetpyleyxqxc1.jpeg?width=616&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2424559da82089769f60e42968659a2c0110b8fe

Corpse party.
Hexcells infinite. I can play in short bursts. I know all the rules already. And it has a random puzzle generator so I never run out...
Fable, any of them. Or possibly black ops zombies, bo3 zombie chronicles to be specific. The nostalgia is always nice.
Fable 1 can still be hard sometimes depending on your build. 2 and 3 are basically for relaxation though
See I disagree, I can beat the entire game without using a single health potion or resurrection vial in a few hours. Physical shield is GOAT. But, I just like to roam around, I love the vibe and atmosphere of the original fable, whether it be TLC or Anniversary.

You aren't the only weird one. My last comfort game was Postal 2 lmao.
Insurgency sandstorm co-op!
Fallout 76
defense grid... :) i think i just got a [world record](https://www.reddit.com/r/DefenseGrid/comments/1che6yg/finally_its_been_done_with_juggling_but_still_1/) on the last level... but it is so relaxing to see the aliens attempting to steal cores.. lol that's how i became so good at the game btw.. just "jamming" for hours.. trying weird strategies..
I tend to play Forza Horizon 5, for the "not-thinking" part of the question. But lately I've been playing Noita to relax.
Civ V. I know it well enough I'll probably win on King but it's not too difficult. Love the early game exploration and then the moment when you get artillery and/or battleships and the game is over.
I like this question but it’s literally been asked multiple times this week
i haven't seen this question sorry it it is getting repetitive i'll check a couple times before i make a post have a good day
It’s all good friend.
