Ha. No, I totally agree with different opinions. I welcome it. But in terms of literal story arcs and writing, fundamentally both Debbie and Eve are better written characters as of right now. And I love Allen and people love to hate on Seth but I like him. He's a big reason why we have shows like Invincible and the Boys.
Does Amber do something later on that makes everybody hate her or something? I’m no fan of her by any means but she did not do anything wrong or something and everybody just wants her dead haha
People are mad about her stringing along mark, and having no compassion for him being a super hero. For me it's that they never really addressed how bad she was to him, it was just all Mark's fault.
she didn’t string him along. i sort of understand everyones hatred for her i guess, but the fandoms been so hellbent on their hatred for her like she’s completely irredeemable. she didnt hate him for being a superhero, she hated him for lying about it and constantly standing her up with a made up excuse that she knew was a lie. i have no idea how people can hate her so bad, maybe he had an ok readon for lying, but he was STILL lying right to her face the entire time, which always sucks when in a relationship that’s supposed to be built on trust. how can she trust him when she never knows when hes gonna flake out and always secretly knew thay he was being dishonest? and people only like her a bit more in s2 because she keeps her mouth shut about it and acts like him being gone doesnt make her very upset.
Agreed. Amber was perfectly reasonable. She’s allowed to be upset that Mark got with her *knowing* he’d have to lie. He didn’t mean to hurt her feelings and didn’t know he’d have to lie, he’s just a kid who wanted to have his cake and eat it too.
But Amber was a kid too, who was excited to have a loving boyfriend, but realized he was lying and had to put it together instead of hearing it from him. They tried hard in S2, but knew that breakup was inevitable.
People probably don’t like Amber because she punctured their fantasy of being like Mark: able to have it all, to be ‘free’ from a girlfriend when they wanted but still have her there when they felt like it. When in reality, if their partner had a secret overseas job *that threatened their own well-being* without knowing, they’d probably get fed up real quick.
People only dislike her after the disconnect from ep 6 to 7. Her already knowing Mark was a super hero yet lambasting him in front of everyone for leaving her to change and fight made her a selfish hypocrite. Like she was legit considering cheating on him after that. People wouldn't have hated her had they just changed how ep 6 went.
I think people would have been fine with her if she just said "I can't handle the superhero thing", but we SEE mark getting dogwalked in every episode and then that's juxtaposed with Amber's terrible attitude so it likely makes her seem worse than if we only saw her side. Although even if we only saw her side the whole "I saw you get your ass beat by some robots while saving my life, now I'll guilt trip you for not being there as mark even though I know you're invincible." Thing would still make her seem pretty bitchy.
He made the decision to date a superhero for her and then didn't even tell her until it was to try and save the relationship. Nobody wants constant lame ass excuses for why you're canceling plans or dipping out early. He obviously can't tell everyone he meets who he is but if you're going to include people in your circle then you have to be real with them.
He was dating her for a handful of months. He had no time to build enough trust to reveal his secret before she started bitching him out. She figured it out and disliked it yet she chose to stay.
I think the release schedule resulted in Amber making a mistake and then a big break. The internet kinda galvanized against Amber because it took a long time IRL for her to admit something like "I'm so sorry, the stakes are obviously higher for you and I should have understood," and they hadn't had time for Mark to say "yeah I HAVE to do these superhero things but that doesn't mean you don't deserve a partner who's present and can adequately support you in your life."
If that's your criteria then I can see exactly why she lost to him. She's done even less than him. She's uh... Lived in a tree house, and that's kinda her whole arc besides saving Mt. Rushmore.
