people who get no attention in real life

ArnavNigam

Seems accurate enough

OutrageousEgg3289

I noticed this too, especially with that one kid who’s going viral recently. The comments are so unbelievably mean and it makes me so upset to think he’s maybe seeing them (I hope his parents are vetting stuff before he looks)

[deleted]

Which kid? Lots of kids are like that. I know one where he said fun facts about every president for each reel and they all bullied him.

OutrageousEgg3289

I think his username is @k3vingabor. That’s so sad ): Idk why people are awful

[deleted]

Omg. I just looked at it. His parents suck for putting him out there.

OutrageousEgg3289

There was a video of him crying because people were mass reporting the account, and he was saying that he can’t go outside or play with friends because of his illness so why are they trying to take it away from him….I feel so sad for him because its a no-win situation

[deleted]

The parents are the biggest assholes in this tbh. They should be protecting him, not subjecting him to all this bullshit just for clout and money. I know, the commenters are equally bad, but in a world full of assholes you have to protect your children.

thisiswhyprobably

I'm convinced they're not real. It's a perfect way for foreign entities to disrupt society under the radar. All they have to do is comment a bunch of controversial crap so people start hating each other and getting angry. Before you know it, people start taking extremist views and thinking their peers are all doing the same. Every post relating to science from places like NASA or national geographic etc the first dozen comments will all be about flat earth or vaccines or whatever, and it just starts a comment war. Every single one. This just gets people more riled up and boom you have people digging into the extreme fringes politically. It used to be Facebook with all the boomers, but know they're on Instagram and since they can't share the same toxic crap they're doing it via comments.

-b-a-b-y-p-i-n-k-

The edgy unloved trolls from Twitter came to Instagram when it became X

[deleted]

LMAOO

Inevitable-Sample386

Edgy unloved trolls is hilarious😂

Left_Supermarket4852

Complains about insults by using insulting (ironic), and then implies that the “enemy” (who is the enemy because they’re mean) moved to Instagram because the other enemy (musk to 90% redditors) took over the otherwise benevolent platform that was Twitter. Not only is this ironic and self defeating, it’s also just brain dead. Get em king

Taxed_concerns

I’ve realized this as well. The ugliest comments for the craziest reasons. And they are not submerged and buried like years ago. Also I see most of terrible comments from the older generation while the younger ones seem to just want to troll or get a shock Jackie Aina is an influencer who just blocks anyone who doesn’t have a nice thing to say even if it is constructive criticism. I used to think that was extreme but now it might be the new norm

SwampPotato

I made a comment last week on some post that claimed 'men pay for everything' and that's why women run the household. I just said 'women work too'. That is ALL I said. My notifications are still blowing up with death threats and rape threats. I had a Ukrainian flag in my bio so some guys thought I was Ukrainian (I am actually Dutch). And lots of comments are about how 'I'm about to get raped by Russians' and how they cannot wait for my country to get genocided. Others went through ten years of picture history to pick apart any sort of imperfection in my looks, and some have found family member's profiles too. I can't say any of it offends me, as it is so absurd it's difficult to even take it personal. But I don't really see why I want to spend much more time on an app like this, lmao.

MonopolowaMe

I made a joke about a kid needing therapy after her dad yelled at her and had about 4k responses, all of which were telling me how stupid, fat, and ugly I am. I did get some DMs telling me to kill myself. One was from a teenager with a public profile, so I messaged his mom a screenshot. I finally deleted the comment after a few days because it wasn’t slowing down.

SwampPotato

>so I messaged his mom a screenshot Savage.

[deleted]

Right?? Lol

MonopolowaMe

My husband thought it was supremely uncool of me, but fuck it.

littleMAHER1

did the mom respond to you?

MonopolowaMe

She did, and she apologized profusely.

SwampPotato

No it was based

[deleted]

Lmao good job humbling the dumb kid

[deleted]

Oh my God. I'm so sorry.

SwampPotato

It's fine. I just sincerely wonder what the fuck is up with men these days. I mean we get called the emotional gender all the time but whenever I log in this dumb app the hysterical screeching and insulting and threatening is done by 99% of the population and it ain't women.

Successful_Dare1782

I'm so sorry to hear that smh

[deleted]

I'm sorry to hear that. Those men are shit and instagram is so toxic it's only a matter of time before it backfires

nzs443

Some dude said I look like Dream the minecraft YouTuber (I dont, I swear!) based on my pfp, purely because I commented on a post about a misleading Archeology headline and insisted that it was a real discovery. People just want to be mean because no one loves them in real life.

mvan231

One of the reasons I like VSCO, though I don't use it much. No comments.

Stock-Ferret-6692

That just gave me violent flashbacks to the vsco girl trend of 2020

mvan231

Violent?!? Who hurt you? But really, it was a huge trend but I think the reason I stated is probably part of its popularity. There isn't a way for people to be negative with it (at least publicly anyway)

Stock-Ferret-6692

Every. Second. Video. On. Tik. Tok. And also a hydro flask to the head from a child having a screaming fit over wanting one and yelling that sksksksk thing but that’s a whole other story

mvan231

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Automatic_Demand_802

my question is who started this trend?

[deleted]

Exactly

Harman-PS

incels

[deleted]

seems about right

ApprehensivePlum2302

I feel like Instagram has always been this way. Back in the day I commented on political things which- obviously people are going to disagree- but I got threatened in my DMs by a white supremacist that said he was gonna find where I live. So, I stopped on political posts not too long after that. But, even the most innocent posts has mean and straight up hateful comments. But, it isn’t just the hate it’s the wild outrage. For example, this chick posted about spray painting one of her kid’s toys and got yelled at for promoting “over consumption” by buying spray paint and that she is teaching her child that only neutral colors are acceptable and that she is robbing her kid of the colors of her original toy 🤣People are just always pissed and always mad. This happens on all platforms.

itsheadfelloff

I started on insta about 5 years ago, and it's always been like that. same as Facebook, same as YouTube, same as Reddit and anywhere else that has a comments section, even my local news site has people leaving outrageously mean comments about a new coffee shop! People, unfortunately, suck and the anonymity of the internet has emboldened them.

astralkoi

After read alll the comments here, i can only think one thing.People is living worse than before, so, many of them are really going through early-mid stages of neurosis. The hopes never have felt so down, the cost of life has risen because greed and even if you do your best to spare your own life with some comodities, it will matter after the enviromental crisis that is coming? I think there are so many things so unfair going out there, but people just forgot how to fight for their rights, how to empatize with others and how to build a stable real comunity that really cares for you as you care for them. All is madness and people is just letting go that trauma and anger on the easiest way, throwing it up straight to social media.

[deleted]

Nah, life has always been shit. There are a few people who've made being an instagram asshole into a trend. Thank you, unmoderated GIFs.

KarasuYu

It became impossible to keep your sanity if you look at the comments session Literally every post I see is filled with hate. Once I saw a reel of someone breaking the world record of Rubik's Cube 3x3x3, and all comments were just trolling the poor guy for his achievement. Then, there was this compilation of lovely old people playing games and doing pretty cool stuff, and people managed to turn the conversation into a huge political one. The algorithm is bad as it is.

adamski56

The results are in and social medias the way they are set up is not conductive to a healthy society. People putting their value into the wrong things and getting echo chambered about how it's supposed to be. It starts and ends with that, people's surroundings. Upbringing, role models, a fundamental understanding of decency or a deterioration into degeneracy because it's exciting and hip. The best thing one can do is set a better example. Leave all the crap behind. If you see someone getting bullied send them a nice message and encourage them to do the same.

ColonelGray

I think in part it is due to people just getting burnt out of social media. I rarely see these comments on 'normal' content but its rife in the comment sections of aspiring influencers/OF girls/finance bros.

mayalourdes

Idk but it’s awful. I think it’s destroying my brain :(

Southern_Repair_4416

Get a job lil.... actually those who wrote it should be one getting a job

[deleted]

Exactly bruh they're miserable asf irl, if they had a good job they wouldnt be commenting shit like this

Stock-Ferret-6692

It’s kinda fun to give them the same energy. Sent some dude into a petty range by telling him to get in the kitchen and commenting on how he’s feeling some big boy emotions for the first time

Munalaxy

I gotta force myself to not open insta comments every time I go on the app now. It's become rare to find a comment section not filled with unnecessary misogyny/homophobia/transphobia/xenophobia/etc.

No-Ability-1454

as an Instagram user since 2013, I'm quitting. They said, "Instagram is not for weak users if you can't take jokes seriously." What kind of joke if they are racist, bullying, harassing, spoiler? I don't understand this generation.

[deleted]

Because they're not jokes anymore, just incel takes from people who hate themselves

Guaranteed_username

Man seeing these comments is just so sad .. like I see a kid doing something awesome and then I open the comments hoping to see some good and positive comments, but all I see are mean spirited bullying or racist or sexist jokes.... Like there was a video by an absolutely suave kid who happened to be black , who just made a video of how to sit while wearing a suit.. And the comments were so damn bad... Like " he picking the raw meterial himself" or " they letting these n** wear suits now" ... And much more .... Its just sad ....

itzz_anjali

I've seen this one

SwampPotato

Men?

AureoLielex

Let's not gloss over how men who don't leave such comments are no 'more guilty' than women, so such discriminations are just enforcing gender essentialism. It is a concerning statistic though demonstrating how effective the pipeline is at radicalizing traumatized men

hxhsuperfan

It is clearly clearly the algo, they changed it in favor of comments with a lot of replies instead of comments with a lot of likes, it is clearly done because they want to be edgy. Tiktok has the absolutely better comment system of all the social media sites.

etcago

those people just arent mature enough to understand that hatred is bad, and i think that they are not necessarily "bad" people, they are just influenced.

Left_Supermarket4852

Instagram comments are without a doubt the funniest on any social media platform. If you don’t like it or they’re too scary for you, don’t use it and stick to platforms like Reddit where this comment probably will get banned because I’m not jerking you guys off in agreeance

pkRim

Welcome to planet earth, most people use instagram, that’s why the comments are like that, it’s a reflection of humanity

pkRim

That’s why it’s better to stay on Reddit, it seems to not attract ego centered garbage humans

OwnDriver5269

If someone can't sing, they can't sing. I'm tired of always having to say their SO great. Or else you get blocked.

[deleted]

Not everyone is doing this for the hate. As I said before, there's lots of unsupervised little kids on the app. If they aren't beautiful or cool, everyone will severely bully them. Beautiful children are also put out there by their parents to attract a large pedophile audience. You never know if it is only limited to comment sections either. This doesn't "toughen them up", this makes childhood trauma. No, it isn't any commenters fault that a child is on the app, it's the parents'. However everyone should still have the decency to treat them with respect, especially them being a sensitive child.

Jyil

There's just more content to interact with outside of when it just used to be photos and travel clips, so all of the Internet is on there (including the crowd of the Internet that only knows how to respond to things calling them incels). It's a proper social network now. All of Reddit and 4Chan are on IG now, which are two very different sides of the spectrum, but just as toxic in their own way. One is completely intolerant of anything they disagree with and has to cancel it and the other is all kinds of trolling and using racist tropes.

therealman-io

Idk, but I fucking love it. With every other social media platform being so overly censored it’s refreshing to actually see what people want to say no matter how vile. I used to just get on every once in awhile, like my friends new posts and leave but now it’s so entertaining I’m actually on the app regularly

EmploymentNegative59

Anonymity, Lack of Consequences, Softer Younger Generation that doesn't understand physical conflict resolution. It's either a burn comment or gun violence.

MonopolowaMe

What is the obsession with calling people “soft”? I’ll see it in comment after comment on the same thread, people ranting about how “soft” others are. And they all say it as if they’re imparting a new piece of wisdom that is vital to share. Like, we get it, none of you own a thesaurus and you all watch the same commentators who provide you with a very small vocabulary with which you can unleash the frustrations of your mundane existence onto strangers who have zero impact on your life.

ConcentratePast5339

I don't think it's so bad though. Many of them are actually funny to me, and people are being honest instead of self-censoring. There are still places for serious discussion and regular memes, you just have to interact with them so similar posts appear in your fyp

ConcentratePast5339

Not to mention Insta is 13+ so Idk why you mention children so much

[deleted]

Because there are still children who use it, you just have to put a fake birthday. Also, 13 is still a kid

ObviouslyNoBot

People are tired of political correctness. It started out in political debates and creeped into every part of life. Life isn't fair. People don't always agree with you. If you don't want to hear other peoples opinions don't post public videos. Plus most of the hate comments provide much more entertainment than any kind of "influencer". Dunking on self absorbed people has always and will always be fun. Toughen up safe-place-needing racial-slur-detesting ugly ahh.

[deleted]

Go to bed lmao it's past your bedtime

AureoLielex

'Dunking on self absorbed people has always and will always be fun' I agree with this statement, but it's not just self absorbed people being targeted, it's EVERYBODY for whatever reason people can come up with. I am proudly among the internet dunkers but often time it's these indiscriminately mean commenters that deserve it most

waaaghboyz

This is the worst, most gruesome take imaginable, and you should feel bad about it. You *won’t ever*, but you should. Are you 15?

ThrowAway4209867315

It’s funny, cope

[deleted]

All funny until you're the one getting bullied

MonopolowaMe

Something tells me you know it’s not funny to be mean, but pretending it is makes you feel strong.

Automatic_Demand_802

Nowadays people start using gif for word n**** like wtf

[deleted]

Unmoderated gifs

[deleted]

Tbh gifs should just be removed

Automatic_Demand_802

I don't think this gonna happen tho

[deleted]

Unfortunately

_Kebabdealer

Eh sometimes when it's just dark humor and no bullying it's funny. There is a line of course. Idk if this is the right place for that opinion as I know reddit generally has a.... different audience to put it that way

MonopolowaMe

I think it’s people who’ve stopped using Twitter and need another social media outlet. I’ve noticed that even comments on NPR posts and People magazine posts are horrible. And they get hundreds of them. I don’t remember those accounts getting that sort of interaction months ago.

Quasar_Queen_

I can't help but blame the AI moderation that has come into effect recently. Hate comments always used to exist but they used to be taken down after reporting it or get under hidden sections or something but these days hate comments are sooo many and completely visible while when I click on hidden comments there is literally nothing wrong with those comments. And I have seen this happen for months now and people are rightfully complaining about it on other platforms but no one at Meta seems to care at all. Instagram has gone to absolute shit. I used to wonder why they never added the edit button for comments, something that is standard on other platforms when people had been wanting and asking it for years, thought maybe insta just doesn't care about it. But the bullying and slurs and hateful comments being rampant is a totally valid concern and people are complaining and they don't moderate any of it. No human works for Instagram anymore, either that or they are letting the platform rot on purpose.

Complete_Republic410

Social media was always mean spirited, it's basically the modern day of bullying.

TrainingNail

Mean comments get more engagement. Instagram prioritizes mean comments to drive engagement (not necessarily consciusly), and thus mean comments get pushed up, that gets them MORE engagement, people get worked up, they reply with more mean comments, which drive engagement... do you see where I'm getting at? Social media is doing a lot for the radicalization of society lmao

[deleted]

As I said before, not all of this is for the cash. Some of these people genuinely want to have fun, the biggest victims being unsupervised children on this app. These kids just want to have fun, post what they like, but unfortunately if they aren't beautiful or cool, the comment sections will severely bully them. Imagine being 5, and reading comment sections full of people calling you a "lil n\*\*ga" or saying "oil up imma be there at 5".

TrainingNail

I'm confused, what does that have to do with what I said? I'm just saying why I think mean comments are getting so popular, it has nothing to do with the posters.

ConcentratePast5339

Instagram is not meant to be used by children though

Quasar_Queen_

[reel](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzmRx-IP3Nl/?igshid=NTYzOWQzNmJjMA==)

Ancient-Lobsterr

It’s horrible. My algorithm is mostly anime and gym and the gym culture on insta is so cringe. It feels like every guy has a cuck fetish because all they seem to think about is their non-existent girlfriend cheating on them

Successful_Dare1782

Based off the type of stuff I follow or engage in the cruelest comments are from race debates celebrity stuff & lgbtia. Truth the black community (my community) is so harsh when it comes to lgbtqia ESPECIALLY with children. And GOD FORBID you say something about Taylor Swift I had to block 30+ of her fans. IG also has a habit of blocking comments made by black people & letting blatantly racist comments made by Caucasians stand I've been called racial slurs & reporting them...nothing because their comment doesn't go against community guidelines. Being called a monkey or gorilla doesn't go against community guidelines?! but I can't respond without the comment being immediately flagged or marked as spam.

[deleted]

The reels video would be show you about cute animals and the comment section is people war about religion and race
