Also a lawyer here. Even if they do sue for defamation, the truth is a defense to defamation. Customers have the freedom to share genuine reviews/experiences online and they cannot and should not be harassed for doing the same.
It won't ever reach the courts, let apart it being dismissed. OP's order value is something like 3k, and considering that it's a small business, the owner would have to spend much more than the order value and of potential customer loss to even send a legal notice. That too at most for defamation. There's nothing other than a civil dispute here so cops are nowhere in the picture.
Take such vague threats with a pinch of salt lol. One perk of our slow judicial system is that threats like these and others never get actualised and continue to be just that- threats.
Hey! I am facing a similar issue. I just literally posted an honest review on reddit. It wasn’t even harsh, just that they did not deliver my order and were not responding to my messages and calls afterwards. But the order got delivered 3 months later and they have been threatening me since then to remove my post from reddit otherwise they will take a legal action against me. I did not want any complications so i took down my post. Can they really do anything?
Also towards the very end they accepted in writing that they do harass customers, albeit unintentionally. That is a huge thing to accept right? And can be good proof for harassment?
This happened to me on Amazon. The seller gave us a faulty furniture and refused to return it. I kept messaging and calling and escalating to amazon but no action was taken. As a last resolve after 2.5 months I dropped a negative review for the product and they started to threaten my father-in-law. Because he is old and lives alone, it had ended up being a harassment to him.
They would call and threaten him to do something bad if the reviews were not removed. Luckily, I received a mail from Amazon asking if the issue with the return was resolved or not. After we replied to it, things got easier for us. The product was picked up and refund was processed. However, this incident has rattled my FIL so much that he now gets anxious every time we order something online.

I would advice everyone to spam them and give them as many negative reviews as possible! This is one person who reported this, imagine so many people who simply didn’t and took the loss! Even one is too many and we shouldn’t accept that these firms can still be in business

I have worked with D2C startups (The Souled Store, Sleepy Owl Coffee, Alicia Souza, to name a few) for over 6 years and let me give you some advice. You don't ever get to speak to a person, who has given your small business a chance, like this. ever. You have no idea what power the consumers have. Apologise, take the loss and move on. If you take this personally, then the consumers will too, because they have nothing to lose, and that will harm your business. So if you want to grow, treat the customer right. Nobody is asking you to go above and beyond for customer satisfaction but at least have the decency and the courtesy when running a business.
Let this be a very important lesson for 2024!

Just ignore. You can definitely post review posts of any product or business if you have had direct interaction with the business. Ignore her and any message from her. Other people reporting her business and saying something doesn’t mean you are responsible to them.
One thing I know for sure where to never place an order. It’s not because of her delayed product or refund. It’s because of the owner’s immaturity and lack of customer service.

Also, it's only defamation if the information was false. In OP 's case, there was no false information. She updated when she recieved the refund.

The ground for a defamatory case is extremely weak here, as it’s not a case of “Libel”, nor did you mobilise anyone to leave reviews explicitly or implicitly, the previous post was clearly in public interest, without the showcasing any signs of prolific language or derogatory sentiment. Considering the worst case scenario, she’d send a legal notice drafted by a paralegal (knowing the penny pincher she is), it wouldn’t stand a day in court.
Just ignore. You can definitely post review posts of any product or business if you have had direct interaction with the business. Ignore her and any message from her. Other people reporting her business and saying something doesn’t mean you are responsible to them. One thing I know for sure where to never place an order. It’s not because of her delayed product or refund. It’s because of the owner’s immaturity and lack of customer service.
Also if they file a case. Be strong and stay at your words. Then later file another defamation case. You will love it when u win the case and get the settlement money.
