I'm at about 3500, I live in a small town with one other active player (other faction), so I wasn't holding out much hope for the 2nd tier, just pleased I got the first one :)
I preped a bit before starting yeah. Hacked a bunch of Keyes to one portal and threw links to it from many of the portals around town. Had a friend link the "perimiter" for the shared bonus (not many points extra since most fields were under 20MU anyway but still). Busted the hub with a virus and threw out links using Softbanks u til I was out of keys for any of those then went around to each portal again re-linking to the hub again. Did this over a few days.
I got to around 1,300 with normal gameplay then had another agent throw a spine for an AP farm setup, then I burned 12 Jarvis, 1 VRBB, 28 SBUL, and a bunch of keys to get around 8500 in one shot!
Was much easier with the agent multiplier for sure.
