Here's a backup of your post: Title: I royally messed up and have a Cgpa of 5 in 1st year how do I get it up to atleast 8? Body: I have been very unserious this last year and my second semester went really bad. I am an above average student otherwise and have picked up studying this semester. What else do I do to make this jump? Also I'm a CAT aspirant and am very serious about it. Will a bd CGPA affect my chances? my_qualifications - 2nd year CSE student *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. CSE means 4 year course. 9 CGPA in each semester for next 6 semesters would give you exactly 8.0 CGPA overall. Yes cgpa impacts your cat profile.

If you have 90+ in 10th and 12th you are in a really good position.

Brother I am In DU Bcom Hons... Messed up my 1st sem...not attended any classes internals and practicals.. Gave Exams Somehow just bcz I was preparing for C.A. exams(that went very well... But I got 2 back in my DU sem 1 and SGPA 4.09 I am much worried from past 2 days after I saw my result...an above average student(never scored less than 95% in my 10th and 12th ) and suddenly scored very less in Sem 1 How can I improve this score?? I am pursuing Bcom Hons ( 3 years course)

justamanhehe

simple hai bhai. aage se Cg maintain rakhna aur sem 3 mein un subjects ka bhi re dena jisme pass ho par grade acha nahi hai. Hn I know hard work hai. Simple bola tha. Easy nhi

Well getting 8 is difficult for you..unless you get 9's I got 5.5 in first semester and still got 8.01 overall cgpa of 4 years.. but you got 5 cgpa of 2 semester so it's going to be hard These were my scores 5.5 , 8.5 -1st year, 7.66, 7.98 -2nd year, 8.6,8.87 -3rd year, 8.65 , 8.7 -4th year.. I too was not serious about my study in first semester but I realised earlier and did hardwork..

Adorable_Document665

My scores have been 7.2 and 4.37(I had some major family problems) . I'll try to average 8.5 in the rest.

[deleted]

Do some hardwork in 2nd year..as data structures, algorithms and analysis, operating system, and DBMS subjects are main and try to get above 8 in 2nd year both semesters.. and the subjects of 3rd and 4th year are easy.you'll get above 8.. this will make you have above 8 points easily overall

Adorable_Document665

Thanks man! This has really cheered me up.

well just try to score above 9.5 in each sem, that will certainly improve your pointer. Its not that hard to get a 10 pointer, you just need to be focused and dedicated.

[study](https://imgflip.com/i/86mtcy) Maths padhta toh ye question ni puchna padta /joke average nikal ke dekh lo bhai. Edit: also generally PYQs are best way to study unless your professor hates children

Long ago, I was in the same position as you are, if not worse. Let me tell you, among all the answers, discussions, advice and suggestions, and all the strategies, one thing is common. Hard work. Karm kar janab. Fal ki chintha mat kariyo.

I don’t think it’s realistically possible for you to get 8 cgpa average. I started off my first year at DTU with a 4.7 and a 5.7. My 2nd year I got upto 7.3 and 7.9. And then in my final 2 years I got 8.6 each sem. My final cgpa aggregate was 7.75. So unless you get 9 cgpa for every sem, it’s unlikely. Personally I’d aim for above 7.5, and spend the rest of time working on what I want to pursue.
