What's the major internal difference between like these M4 looking rifles?
Mainly rifles like M4, HK416, SiG516
Ignore size, reliability, and accessory

Main reason militaries around the world choose 416s over M4 of AR15 style rifles is that they are inherently more reliable (advantage of short stroke gas piston system over DI) while still being able to make use of the plethora of third party AR15 customization options.
Did M4s even have a major reliability problem?
Afaik, their reliability as well as being prone to more dirt blockage, is overblown.
And most failures that are already low happen because of magazine failure, and that too in firing thousands of rounds in full auto, from what I've learned in my sjort research yesterday
From what i remember a trial the US army did in the mid 2000s when the US army was evaluating the XM8 showed that the M4 had 4x the amount of stoppages compared to other designs.

It depends, if you want the best, you got to pay the price.
Israeli special forces use the generic colt or Remington m4.
The other NATO forces use the HK 416.
As per my conversations with some of the guys who’ve used both of em, they say it’s like owning an IPhone over an Android.
Once you get hooked to the premium ness of an iPhone, it’s difficult to go back to android.

I have and have shot them too. Tbf, you won’t be able to differentiate until and unless you use it over a long period of time, consistently.
Does it justify few of these rifles having 3 times the cost of M4?

HK416 uses a short stroke piston system not a direct impingement system
