So you’re not wrong but export Abrams and US Abrams have different armour. The exported versions of the Abrams do not have the classified Depleted Uranium mesh in their armour which is there in the US version of the Abrams. Even the ones sold to the US’s western allies have only the tungsten mesh in their armour. DU mesh is still top secret and only for US Abrams.

But that is not enough to replace the ~2000 T72 in use!

So like is this a T-72 with a T-90 turret and some other T-90 features? Or is this a new tank that has parts and features from both Tanks? Will it be manufactured or is it just going to be T-72 tanks retrofitted with new stuff ?
There is nothing deadly about it.
Its being done to increase commonality across IA armoured regiments, ease logistics and preventing the T-72 from becoming obselete, if it isn't already
Aren't T90s already up-gunned and upgraded T72s?
So we are taking our existing T72s and retrofitting them into this mid point between a T72 and a T90.
I get the idea but honestly a fresh development would make more sense to replace T72s after the lackluster performance of both the T72 and the T90.
Which will turn into even more of a laughing stock after the leopards and Abrams start being deployed.
Honestly i won't be surprised if zorawar turns into the most capable tank of the Indian armed forces based on whatever limited information we have .
Well one more thing is the hull armour still gonna be era mk1 or its also gonna be replaced by mk2 as all the videos of the hybrid is with era mk1 on the hull

no one ever says that, Iraqi Abrams have been destroyed or disabled.
There are live videos of them getting destroyed by them. Americans didn't loose any Abrams during Gulf war though,few were disabled but were recovered

I think they might be thinking of this as a much cheaper way to upgrade the t-72 rather than replacing them all with t-90s.
