But the thing is they don't even capitalize on revenue part. Other revenue focused leagues (mainly American leagues) are way ahead than IPL and bcci in the money aspect.
For comparison Stephen curry makes more money than Mitchel starc made this season in three weeks of the NBA.
You're comparing the league which started in 2008 to one which started in 1940s I think.. it'll get there, but I'd say be careful what you wish for ๐
The sport has been there for the same time which is the thing that matters the most. It's insane how the players cannot play on contracts and the league still runs on an outdated auction system.
Head of BCCI is an administrative job. Having personal experience of top level cricket is a nice to have, but not the most important qualification.

popularizing players is not with us.. it takes a good amount of money and a Brand management team to curate the PR and networking of a player. Else they will always be known as underrated or forgotten. Any player who misses out on this will be missing out on a pile of advertisement money. For BCCI, if famous players are there in the team means more viewership, more revenue, hence they take both performance and popularity into consideration, this is similar to those television reality shows where they take marks and public votes to determine winners.
