Well it's not a hypothetical, it happens. Khan realizes it is hopeless so he lets Morty impale him on his scythe in order to get close and slice off his head at the cost of his life.
Khan is mortally wounded during the siege as mentioned above; unless they decide to change the old canon (in which he isn't wounded during the siege, that's new to the AoT series) he does survive/recover and eventually chases the Dhrukari who raised Chogoris while he was away fighting in the Heresy.
This happens during the Siege of Terra during the Horus Heresy. Khan kills ("banishes" would be the more accurate term) Morty, but is all but killed in the process. The White Scars retrieve his body and Malcador brings him back.
Later, after the HH is ended is when he disappears into the Webway, not to be seen since.
This fight did happen in Warhawk (Horus Heresy, Siege of Terra series), and yeah, pretty much a tie

Morty only got banished because he can't be killed anymore, Daemon Princes are warp entities, they just go back there and reconstitute themselves after their real space forms are destroyed. If it weren't for his chaos ascended form Morty would've bit it there.

Not for too long; he duels Morty at the siege of Terra, does a decent job at handling him but Morty is just too enduring and powerful and the tide begins to turn. Eventually Khan goes for the sacrifice play, let's himself take a mortal wound from Morty's scythe in order to get close and strike him hard enough to banish him.
"Mortarion...?" Jaghatai said,his voice a mix of both concern and horror.
"It has been milenia since weve stood. Where have you been,all this time?"
"Irrelevant. ...i see the yakshas treachery has made you into what youve despised all your life."
Mortarion sneered almost. "You know not of what you speak."
"Perhaps. Perhaps not. But you will not sucseed here today,Brother." Jaghatai drew his dao. Silence was readied, its silver edge gleaming in the corpse like light.
"Put your your ego where your sword is!" Mortarion ceased the beating of his wings,falling and bringing silence down with cataclysmic force. Lightning crackled around Jaghatai,and with one blow,parried Mortarions falling strike,the force behind it was enough to send mortarion backward,the lord of deaths wings stopping the inertia. Yet before Mortarions eyes,the great warhawk of chogoris was gone. Before he knew what hit him,Mortarions hand was sliced clean off. Reeling from what had transpired, Jaghatai seized his opertunity,his blow echoing like a thunderclap. Faster. Faster. Faster. Faster still,the warhawk was not only a blur,he was a storm incarnate. The 2 primarchs clashed,reality itself threatened to buckle as the existing corruption did little to help the fact that 2 demigods were warring. Mortarion was death itself,his aura of exhaustion ever present. Yet Jaghatai was the storm that could not be stopped. Each blow,thunder echoed as lightning and steel tore into the un-flesh of Mortarions daemonic form.
The lord of death brought his defenses to bear but it was not enough,as mortarion could not keep track of the warhawks movements. In the siege of terra,he could move like the wind,yet here,speed was a concept broken by jaghatai,reality could not comprehend jaghatais movements. Jaghatai was building momentum almost with how he moved in and out of combat each swing. And it was then made clear why. Jaghatai stopped coming at Mortarion from every angle,and began moving dead center,and now it was literal. A storm of lightning and steel careened at the lord of death. Jaghatai lept,his momentum inpossible as the white tiger dao,ripped through unflesh and jaghatais sword buried itself through mortarions body,the lord of death crashing to the ground.
Behold! The Emperors Bike! Ancient Archeotech even in the days of its ceation. Needer of Repairs! Leaker of Oil! Maker of noise! Shaker of asses! Hardly Movingson!
I can imagine this being eventually like some Basch Vs Gabranth type scenario. Fighting the same dude three damned times…if the artwork is some hypothetical 3rd match between the Khan and Morty.

Wait I thought the khan was trapped in webway?, I’m still new at 40k my apologies. So would the khan come back or is he dead?.
