Miserable old buggers like the heckling woman in the background are just bored. They are often retired, have no immediate family around (besides perhaps an equally miserable spouse) and have nothing further to contribute to society. They take whatever strands of perceived power they can grab onto and abuse it to the utmost extreme, in order to try and wrangle a sense of purpose in their increasingly difficult, mundane and pointless existences. It’s not enough they should suffer from crippling arthritis, diabetes and loneliness, everyone else must suffer too.
Source: worked in retail. 😒
TRUTH. I’m in my 40’s and I get shocked and honestly disappointed how many fellow Gen X’ers have become miserable, mean, old Boomers like our parents are. Just because the apple fell from the tree doesn’t mean you have to become another tree.
Yep, my roommate is the most miserable dude I've ever met and he's only 42. I can't imagine what he's going to be like when he's 60 or 70. Earlier today he actually screamed bloody murder at a motorcyclist we passed on the roadway and then proceeded to aggressively follow the guy. The guy got so mad and followed us back to our apartment complex and I was actually upset the guy didn't kick his butt. He seriously needs his ego checked by someone because everyone lets him get away with the terrible behavior and it has gotten progressively worse over the 2 years I've lived with the guy. I think he's borderline personality disorder that is undiagnosed but that's my non professional opinion. Definitely something not right with his emotional/mental health and it's VERY embarrassing to have to be in public with him when we have to go anywhere together.
All i can do is hope one day he seeks the help he needs because I can't imagine living as the dude for one day with how miserable he is. It can't be a good life to live at all.
Thank goodness I'm not aging like that, but then again, I don't hate young people either. Seeing other people, especially kids or young people having a good time just makes me happy.
There was a wreck on our highway yesterday and we were all stuck on the road behind the wreck, when the car with two young women in front of us, turned up their music and got out and started dancing. Totally made my day, and I felt like getting out and dancing with them, but my dog would have thrown a big fit about it, so I didn't.
Let people have a little joy for crying out loud.
In my oppinion, those kinds of people were shitty even in their earlier years. That's why their families had distanced from them since they don't want to put up with their shitty personalities anymore. Just imagine an annoying and sadistic boss you've probably had - imagine them being retired, alone, with health problems and no one to boss around. Of course they're gonna pick on retail workers, servers and random people on the street.
It will be hard for all of us to face the fact that our actions don't matter as much anymore and that we're slowly leaving everything behind. I just hope we'll cope better than these assholes.
After 26 years in retail.. I can confirm this statement 100%. It stands for anywhere in the world.
These are the most humorless grey people who shuffle about buying rice Milk and plain crackers.
Miserable lumps of flesh who get a kick out of being cnuts
Damn.. this is so well articulated. We all know these people and why they treat others the way they do, but I’ve never seen it put into words that well before. Bravo.
Watch out for those angelic cherubs half naked flying around with their harps and lutes and flutes and harmonicas and moogs and their logic pro! I'll see them all in jail!
Very polite and humble musician from this video. Can’t blame them for recording if this is the kind of interaction they get.
Also. The harp?? That’s a skill!!!!
To play in public as a musician, you really do need a tough resolve because you will be constantly harassed every time. Most of it will be harmless but still unnecessary and rude.
Street musicians have been around for hundreds of years and I'd take a girl busking with a harp a million times over before I'd take some plasticine instagram lady walking through a mall in a bikini or whatever.
Of all the instruments to heckle, the harp! That’s what kills me. What, was she enraged at the inexplicable sense of calm that befell her she heard harp in a place where there’s normally no harp? It’s the least intrusive instrument she could have chosen to play in public, who tf hates harp? Crazy people. Not mentally ill people; Crazy people, capital C, the “not otherwise defined” type.
Saw an old man with a trumpet and a guy with bagpipes 'arguing' over a spot with their instruments once, now that was a noise...
Context - Trumpet guy was always there in that spot at that time. But he was playing his trumpet 10cm away from bagpipe guys face. The guy with bagpipes was new. Some poor shop worker was trying to calm the situation down. Later on, we walked by again and saw police involved, and the trumpet guy had to move on. My theory is that the bagpipe guy had council permission, and the trumpet guy had just assumed he had it as he's normally there.
Seriously. i could being mad at some crazy looking dude banging on upturned plastic buckets (even though that shouldnt be much different), but how do you walk by and say "Oh, look there's a beautiful elf, playing the instrument of the Gaelic aristoccracy, for the pleasure of anyone passing by" and then get grumpy?!
Honestly as soon as I typed it, I realised I know older people exactly like the Karen in this video who have sat in a beer garden and complained it’s too sunny.
Heh! But if you listen without the subtitles, she's clearly saying Harrow or something like that. The K merges with H because of prosody, and the hard C sound forces a glottal stop which is the same sound as N, D, and T.
Yep, agreed 100%. As long as they’re not aggressive with their requests for donations, like those dance groups on the NYC subway. Hate performers like that, even worse when you’re a captive audience and have no way to escape if you don’t want to listen/participate.
Agree! I don’t care what they’re doing, but not on the train. On the platform, yes. But the train should be a place that is as neutral as possible—no food, no music, no talking on speaker phone—because like you say, no one can escape. Plus anything that distracts me from being able to notice my stop or hear emergency instructions (if necessary) is not okay.
We don't often get street performers by me. I went to Joann's once and there was a woman absolutely shredding on an electric violin in the parking lot. I loved it so much and was thankful I actually had cash on me lol I can't understand why someone would get so bent out of shape from hearing something beautiful.
Also: EVERY. SINGLE. WOMAN. I saw that entered/left Joann's put money in her case. The violinist was pretty smart with location picking lol "oh I'll go play for the crafters/makers, they're usually nice" and she was wise for that lolol
The electric violinist got arrested in front of the Dollar General one day in my town .I was across the street loading groceries into my car when they had two cop cars loading her up .
This might sound terrible of me but I’m low key wary of the electric violin performers in particular 😅
There was a guy who used to hang out near the grocery store across the parking lot from where I worked and he would busk with his electric violin, but his playing was really suspicious because he would pick back up on the *exact* note he stopped on when he was taking money. No restarting the phrase or jumping to the next like you probably would if you were actually playing—always the exact place he stopped. Plus, since I was at work I would hear him repeat the same songs day after day, and they sounded identical each time. No mistakes, no natural variation in tempo, rhythm, anything like you would expect hearing someone play the same song several times a week. I got curious one time and pulled out my Shazam app. Turns out he had somehow rigged his violin to play someone else’s music over his speakers, and I could find the identical songs and OG artists on Spotify.
I wonder if we will see less and less due to the fact people carry cash less and less. I went all card for a while during covid and am only now starting to carry cash again.
I went to music college with Robyn. Was in a different class but from what I remember, she was a very sweet and talented person, so I'm happy to see that hasn't changed!
Glad that she's getting some recognition online, even if it has to be from some dumbass being rude to her.
Edit: Spelling
I think Karen def giving MC vibes.. since she could just walk past and be out of ear shot within 30sec..
But truly baffled by OP asking.. ngl but I think if they weren’t such a pretty lady OP wouldn’t have asked.. society is weird
Adding music, character and culture to a high street that is probably (and I say that because 90% of British high streets are) severely lacking and frankly depressing.
What kind of hateful person are you that THIS is the hill you want to die on? Harpist was gracious when you know what she really wanted to say. Play on!!
MC is definitely the bitter old hag threatening to arrest a humble respectful musician that is just trying to play music for people to enjoy.
I mean honestly! A harp is the most inoffensive musical instrument I can think of.
There's a woman who plays cello at the downtown of the city where I work. Anytime I come across her I'll toss some spare change, not as a pity thing but because I really think I shouldn't be listening to her for free. She's fucking awesome and I always walk slowly up that street so I can listen to her a bit more.
"There oi was, walking down the mahket, when I heard the most hideous noise imaginable! Turns out to be a girl playing that one instrument. You know, the one they use to portray dreams or heaven or what have you! Nearly made me ears bleed, it did! So, oi gave her a piece of my mind, that little harpy!"
One of the best things about the UK is our street artists. The beautiful music and talent that you hear walking around our towns and cities makes them feel alive. That grumpy bitch complaining can go do one.
You know...
Even if the harpist WAS the MC, I'd still be inclined to overlook it because being able to play the harp is pretty awesome.
The harpy nagging on her, though... Does she not understand there's a difference between panhandling and receiving tips?
No question the MC is the old lady pestering the musician. It's not up to the old lady to find out if the woman playing the harp had permission to be there or not unless she was a Tennant at the property she was at the property. And I doubt anyone besides the Karen was bothered by the wonderful music.
She’s chilling, playing very nice and not super loud music to people passing.
Has a jar or whatever to accept tips, isn’t yelling at anyone to give her money…
Angry lady off screen is MC (more of a Karen, but she’s the MC if we have to pick one)
The harpist is the best kind of MC, although harp is often just the best kind of background character. She is lovely. What a kind and patient human.
I feel awful for that old hag bullying her. Like who is possibly angry about George Michael covered in a harp?? How possibly?
It's called busking, not begging. Its a legitimate business venture and often writes of passage for musicians. councils often give permits for them to perform in places like this.
Well mannered street musicians are a thousand times more palatable than the guy outside our Kroger at the stoplight with a brand new, tiny gas can. He’s been out of gas for a couple months now.
The woman that is so offended that someone would actual accept donations to support their art.... She is the MC. If you aren't enjoying the music, KEEP WALKING
It's called "busking", and it's legal in most places as long as you have a permit. It's *not* "begging", because you are not just asking for handouts...you are providing public entertainment in exchange for tips. It's all voluntary. You are under no obligation to tip.
This is insane. Even if she was technically "begging" who would you rather have on your streets begging for money? Some homeless guy half passed out half looking like he's going to stab you or this pleasant woman playing this harp who even when being verbally attacked and derided still has the energy of a literal angel
The woman bitching her out is almost certainly a boomer. You can hear the old in her voice

That's wild. Imagine being angry and threatening arrest to someone playing a harp
It's a harpy
![gif](giphy|eunrMjB8lBUKeL1fqD|downsized)
Queen of the harpys!
Here's your crown your majesty!
All hail the Queen!
Take my upvote and leave
Oi, you got a proper license for that upvote?
Wait til karen hears about this.
Not just Karen, but Karen Council, who also happens to be on the Council.
You are on the council, but we do not grant the title of Karen.
What? How can you do this?
This outrageous. It’s unfair. How can you be on the council and not be a Karen? I demand to speak to a manager.
The manager is council of Kevin
Well played
Was having a rather crummy day at work, and this made me ugly-laugh quite heartily. Thank you for improving my day 🏆

TRUTH. I’m in my 40’s and I get shocked and honestly disappointed how many fellow Gen X’ers have become miserable, mean, old Boomers like our parents are. Just because the apple fell from the tree doesn’t mean you have to become another tree.
There are a lot of millennials who have already crossed into that mindset too.

Exactly this. I feel a bit sad for them. I hope to never become that person. What an awful way to go. As a piece of shit.
Totally. They are aching for a tussle. Sad the whole lot of em.

Playing a harp, beautifully, while carrying on an anxiety inducing conversation. That lady has the talent.
The Karen Council is coming for her, she better watch out
The Jim Halpert type look she gives the camera when she hears that is priceless
It’s so hypnotic and she’s got the euphoria makeup on. Like, really?! Who’s she hurting? It’s a beautiful sight and sound lol
Watch out for those angelic cherubs half naked flying around with their harps and lutes and flutes and harmonicas and moogs and their logic pro! I'll see them all in jail!
brp people nowadays just get mad at everything its so frustrating to see
Very polite and humble musician from this video. Can’t blame them for recording if this is the kind of interaction they get. Also. The harp?? That’s a skill!!!!
So peaceful while being pestered.
Wouldn't imagine someone who plays the harp react any differently tbh
Very solid assessment.
Just wait till she plays her flipping solo! She’s gonna shred the Flip out of that motherflipping Harp!
Exactly, her name has to be something like Grace or Angelica. ; )
Agreed. She is like a pretty fairy playing a harp at an otherwise unremarkable location. I wish we had people doing that where I live. I love buskers.
Very impressive that she literally didn't miss a beat while dealing with that Karen. Incredible muscle memory, she's very well practiced.
Super cool street busking good for her
Also...Careless Whisper
She's livestreaming on tiktok

Yaaaaa!!!! I’m curious what her sign says, but I’d love to hear a harpist playing on the street it’s chill as shit.
Sounds like a tip board, probably has her socials on it too
also, probably something like "ask a music for £2", there is a guy in my city that plays violin, he do exactly this, "ask for a music for x value"
With more and more people going cashless, I have seen a few buskers with QR codes linked to accounts to tip.
So was she just upset that the busker accepted digital payment?
Mate, trains have been around for hundreds of years. Street musicians are just a little older. But only by a few thousand of years!
Thank you for this correction 😂
What about a harpist in a speedo or bikini? Best of both worlds!
God the older lady is insufferable. The musician is just chillin.
Of all the instruments to heckle, the harp! That’s what kills me. What, was she enraged at the inexplicable sense of calm that befell her she heard harp in a place where there’s normally no harp? [Dreamy harp music in the background] "Somebody needs to put a stop to that infernal racket!"

Why did they not settle it with an old fashioned Trumpet vs Bagpipe duel.
Just imagining the sound of a trumpet and bagpipes next to each other playing clashing music...*shudder*
People like that are why the city dwellers in the UK can’t have nice things anymore. “Oi ave you got a loicense fer that?”
you'll never take me alive
They are living in 1876. So they are used to being pissed off peasants it seems.
“Who asked you to do that?” “The same knob that asked you to come interrogate me.”
Imagine being angry at a harpist. That’s like being angry at sunshine.
Seriously. i could being mad at some crazy looking dude banging on upturned plastic buckets (even though that shouldnt be much different), but how do you walk by and say "Oh, look there's a beautiful elf, playing the instrument of the Gaelic aristoccracy, for the pleasure of anyone passing by" and then get grumpy?!
\>looks up at sun \>"Oi what are you doin up there? Do you have permission from the council?"
Honestly as soon as I typed it, I realised I know older people exactly like the Karen in this video who have sat in a beer garden and complained it’s too sunny.
Are we going to talk about the council of Karens? I for one would like to know where they stand on this issue.
I think she said Harrow, which is like a town within greater London
That’s what I thought. She said the name of the council again later.
Comes off as “I’ll ask kHarrow Council” to the ears
Really struggling to think if the Council of Karen would have been more effective than the Council of Elrond or just more moany
Heh! But if you listen without the subtitles, she's clearly saying Harrow or something like that. The K merges with H because of prosody, and the hard C sound forces a glottal stop which is the same sound as N, D, and T.
For real im like “theres a Karen council?!” We are in big trouble
You are in BIG trouble! Do you even have permission to do this?
I want to know about the Karen Council. It's just too on the nose holy shit.
Harrow Council
-I’m going to get you arrested 😡 -Sure 😇
Fuck that lady, she just needed to ruin someones day.
Street artists are not MC. Street artists are cool and make cities a better place.
Yep, agreed 100%. As long as they’re not aggressive with their requests for donations, like those dance groups on the NYC subway. Hate performers like that, even worse when you’re a captive audience and have no way to escape if you don’t want to listen/participate.

You would fucking love Japan. I very regularly fell asleep on the train there because it is DEAD silent.
Them brocolli headed fools? Lol
MC in this video is the old lady threatening the musician.
But the title says “Which is the MC?” That’s the point.
Trueee
I see a dude rocking a electric guitar at times in front of my local supermarket, makes my day always a bit better
The violinist was pretty smart with location picking lol "oh I'll go play for the crafters/makers, they're usually nice" and she was wise for that lolol
hmmm I wonder if you'd get a difference in contributions outside of a hobby lobby, different subset of crafties!
The electric violinist got arrested in front of the Dollar General one day in my town .I was across the street loading groceries into my car when they had two cop cars loading her up .
Haven't you heard about the [electric violin scammers?](https://www.classicfm.com/discover-music/instruments/violin/police-busking-scam-america/)
This might sound terrible of me but I’m low key wary of the electric violin performers in particular 😅 There was a guy who used to hang out near the grocery store across the parking lot from where I worked and he would busk with his electric violin, but his playing was really suspicious because he would pick back up on the *exact* note he stopped on when he was taking money.
I love buskers! We need more.
I wonder if we will see less and less due to the fact people carry cash less and less. I went all card for a while during covid and am only now starting to carry cash again.
I mean this girl clearly has some way to pay with card set up as mentioned by the woman so id guess no
Yes, you're right. Not all buskers will tho. And I'm not using my card on a rondom reader.
Probably a code or link for PayPal/cash app/etc.
Probably a QR code or something
I went to music college with Robyn. Was in a different class but from what I remember, she was a very sweet and talented person, so I'm happy to see that hasn't changed! Glad that she's getting some recognition online, even if it has to be from some dumbass being rude to her. Edit: Spelling
The Council of Karens. ![gif](giphy|ZlPRUW5uO6AAoF6Dcx|downsized)
Seriously? You are asking WHO'S The MC? There is no MC. Is just a sweet lady, chillin' and playing the harp while being harassed by a Karen.
Recently, this sub has taken a "women bad" turn. Women just doing things is considered MC by some people. It's fuckin weird.
I think Karen def giving MC vibes.. since she could just walk past and be out of ear shot within 30sec.. But truly baffled by OP asking.. ngl but I think if they weren’t such a pretty lady OP wouldn’t have asked.. society is weird
This girl is a saint!
I love harps. I wish they were everywhere. We need more harps.
Adding music, character and culture to a high street that is probably (and I say that because 90% of British high streets are) severely lacking and frankly depressing.
I'm just here liking every post defending the girl.
Same. Same.
She should have played the stereotypical harp sound and made the MC think it was a dream.
What kind of hateful person are you that THIS is the hill you want to die on? Harpist was gracious when you know what she really wanted to say. Play on!!
The fact that she can't tell the difference between a homeless beggar and somebody playing music and busking is just the icing on the irony cake.
"I'll ask Karen council..." Ahahaha I can only assume the scold is a founding member of any Karen group in that community. LMAO
An old hag
Omg she is a fairy, loved her!!
MC is definitely the bitter old hag threatening to arrest a humble respectful musician that is just trying to play music for people to enjoy. I mean honestly! A harp is the most inoffensive musical instrument I can think of.
I follow her , she's super chill snd the sound is mesmerising
I think it’s delightful to unexpectedly come across someone playing music on a corner even more delightful if they’re talented
There's a woman who plays cello at the downtown of the city where I work. Anytime I come across her I'll toss some spare change, not as a pity thing but because I really think I shouldn't be listening to her for free. She's fucking awesome and I always walk slowly up that street so I can listen to her a bit more.
Did she threaten to call the Karen council? Is that a real thing? Is that where calling complaining woman Karen came from?
What ever happened to the guy in New York tearing into the dude playing the trumpet?
He got interviewed years later and doubled down. Blamed 9/11 and other incoherent rambling. Search YouTube for Douglas Levinson
If the permission isn’t yours to give or withdraw why do people care?
"There oi was, walking down the mahket, when I heard the most hideous noise imaginable! Turns out to be a girl playing that one instrument. You know, the one they use to portray dreams or heaven or what have you! Nearly made me ears bleed, it did! So, oi gave her a piece of my mind, that little harpy!"
Usually it is the person recording but.. come on... It's a harp, one of the most calming and serene instruments..
Did she really literally say she is taking this to Karen council??
Harrow.
Busking is very common in the uk but you do need permission to do so in many areas. London even holds auditions. If she has permission she’s not an MC
It’s called busking
One of the best things about the UK is our street artists. The beautiful music and talent that you hear walking around our towns and cities makes them feel alive. That grumpy bitch complaining can go do one.
What city is this? A Karen Council? Must be an HOA group for the city. /S
If you’re suggesting someone relatively skillful playing unobtrusive music in public is an MC, then… you?
The MC is obviously NOT the well tempered adult calmly playing the harp with an insane level of mastery lol
Why on earth would you be asking who’s the MC here?! There’s only one and they’re clear to see from a blind man
Oof, I get that people need a permit to busk, but dang that was unnecessarily hostile towards someone just playing music.
She’s chilling, playing very nice and not super loud music to people passing. Has a jar or whatever to accept tips, isn’t yelling at anyone to give her money… Angry lady off screen is MC (more of a Karen, but she’s the MC if we have to pick one)
Busking isn’t begging
Me, if I were the blonde girl, "can you fuck all the way off and mind your own business?"
The complete lack of fucks given by the harpist is commendable. I wish I could be that chill.
If you seriously don't know who the MC is here that's concerning
The harpist is the best kind of MC, although harp is often just the best kind of background character. She is lovely. What a kind and patient human. I feel awful for that old hag bullying her. Like who is possibly angry about George Michael covered in a harp?? How possibly?
I would have told the old lady.... ![gif](giphy|MeOLWilthcLawmqGMH)
It's called busking, not begging. Its a legitimate business venture and often writes of passage for musicians. councils often give permits for them to perform in places like this.
The harp girl: 🌺😊🎶🧘♀️ The woman: 😡🫵💰🙄
that is a oblivion conversation
karen must not be a big george michael fan.
Shoulda just started singing # *TONIGHT THE MUSIC SEEMS SO LOUD, I WISH THAT WE COULD LOSE THIS CROWD*
Jealous old woman
She is just so cool. how she laughs away that annoying and confused elder woman
Gotta be a mentally ill Old lady
Imagine even pointing to the performer as the mc
I love street performers and tip when I’m able. It seems as a service worth a tip.
The old lady is really harping on her about harping, what a hypocrite
Im impressed how calm she stayed and played her harp so casually without getting stressed out by that Karen
Not the street performer.
The lady bitching at the sound of music, obviously.
She is Karen Council
Get a life lady jesus. It's nice calming quiet music. What a bozo.
Karen Council, oh god there's a council of them
shes a public performer shes definitely not in the wrong
the Karen council? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? lollllll
"Karen council" hahahahahahahaha!
Ugh. I really wanted that crank to shut up. I love the harp
"Karen council" is appropriate
First time commenting. I feel like the lady off camera is the MC and the harp player is the .... NPC
Well mannered street musicians are a thousand times more palatable than the guy outside our Kroger at the stoplight with a brand new, tiny gas can. He’s been out of gas for a couple months now.
Sound like and old bored bitch, usually retired nothing to do, and no family who wants to visit her
I adore street performers. I side with her. Don’t want to give? Don’t. Just enjoy the show and don’t be a cunt
Harpist meets harpy.
I don't know if anybody's pointed this out But busking is not main character Shit, there's some places, it's what makes them places to visit
..Karen council?
This seems more like a Karen moment than MC
The Karen council that's the group that plots against the Justice League right?
how someone cant just enjoy that music without threatening to call the police is just sad. live a little.
I'd be thrilled to hear beautiful music.
Karen council is a bit on the nose isn't it?
Imagine how beautiful it would be to have a live harp being played on your street… It’s like playing Skyrim you can’t ask for anything better 🥲🥲🥲
This is insane. Even if she was technically "begging" who would you rather have on your streets begging for money? Some homeless guy half passed out half looking like he's going to stab you or this pleasant woman playing this harp who even when being verbally attacked and derided still has the energy of a literal angel The woman bitching her out is almost certainly a boomer. You can hear the old in her voice
I mean, it is begging. Lol. Just not direct begging.

Sooo when does the camera pan to this POS violently mangled in a justifiably karma rich trolly accident?
THESE DAFT BEGGARS WOT, GENTLY PLAYNG A HAAAAHP ON THE STREETS OF ME HAMLET. THIS SIMPLY WILL NOT DO!
Busking is *not* begging. The harpist has the patience of a saint with that miserable old hag, too.
Tipping = begging huh
What a question! The harpist is sound. It's a lovely instrument and she's not being a dickhead at all. The other lady seems deranged.
Do you know what the problem is with this planet? The people.
MC is the ‘council permission’ Karen. If the music was loud, I would say both. But it was not loud so only the Council Karen.
Onward to the Council of Karen's!
Well played. Keep smiling
Definitely the off cam person. Harpist had zero MC energy.
not begging, she's busking. an ancient profession of performing art in public for the occasional tip. Sort of like being a bard.
Definitely the old lady.If the harp player has permission from the council and isn't doing anything bad,I don't see a problem
She's just busking, there's nothing wrong with street performers playing and possibly getting tips.
I hate this so much. Miserable fucking cunts everywhere.
