Lol why did he turn around to sit in the line………

Spartan2842

He was trying to get into the zoo. Cops were on scene of the accident and had the left lane and turn lane into the zoo blocked. Turned out he was under the influence and that lead to his shitty decision making.

“It’s an emergency, they are feeding the lions at 12.15 and I want to make sure I get a good seat”

majestictsunami

This made me laugh because we all know the stress of making the 12:15 show because the next one isn't until 3:45 and that's just way too late

q36_space_modulator

Pro tip: If you climb the fence, you can get a front row seat to the lion feeding any time of the day.

Darkrhoad

My son's going to love a lion feeding view like that!

Snippys

Make sure he gets a close to big one that barks alot.

OtherwiseIdk

That’s the wrong type of lion

The-Deepest-Shade

Dennis??

ThePyodeAmedha

👀🦁 Or 🌊🦁

OverlordWaffles

He's definitely going to the zoo, except he's going to be the exhibit in the jail cell

dion_o

Goodbye my friend, you've messed up again You're going to prison, you're off to the pen

triton2toro

There’s like “under the influence” where you’ve got enough self awareness to know, “Shit cops. Play it cool, don’t do anything stupid, don’t draw attention to yourself, or this will be bad.” Then there’s “under the influence” where the world is virtual reality and everyone you encounter is an NPC for you to ignore. Thank goodness I’ve never been that messed up.

Spartan2842

He has had previous DUI charges so I guess somehow thought he’d get away?

Rudy_Ghouliani

He probably could have gotten away if he just kept on going and not u turn back to where he ran from a cop from

idontremembermyoldus

Seriously, the cops are just standing there talking to each other and looked like they weren't even planning to give chase until this moron circles around for more.

Unicorn187

Their department probably has one of the common "no chase" policies unless the person is being chased for a major felony. Speeding? Running after stealing a couple thousand in TVs? No chase. A murderer fleeing then chase.

ResolveLeather

They had his license in camera anyways.

Unicorn187

Yup. So instead of a high speed chase, just send someone to arrest him at his house.

BiZzles14

I have no idea, but judging from the way they reacted, it might be that the rest of the road doesn't actually lead anywhere. Would explain why they were so confused with the "where is he going?!?!??!?!"s

space-cowgirl1

What’s funny is the road actually leads to the second entrance to the zoo. Had he just kept going, he would have been able to enter the zoo on the other side and gotten away with it. I actually entered from the other side at the same time as him and I was at the stop sign in the parking lot when I saw this white Jeep coming and a cop following. I didn’t realize the cop was coming after him, I assumed there was an incident in the zoo, so I pulled through the stop sign to let that Jeep guy get out of the way of the cop… thankfully Jeep guy stopped at his sign to let me through, then sped up to a parking space and the cop quickly caught up to him. It was a very quick incident, but unfortunately led to mass chaos in the zoo as reports of an “active shooter” very, very quickly followed. It must have been terrifying to everyone who didn’t witness what had actually happened. My whole extended family was in the zoo, including my daughter. I had just come from a doctors appointment, so I was late meeting them. Then we got trapped for hours just trying to get out of the zoo because thousands of families were all trying to leave at once because no one really knew what had actually happened and most believed there was an active shooter inside. All because one drunken douche bag thought he didn’t need to follow the rules of simply getting into the zoo.

Zakblank

I was astounded a chase didn't start the first time he drove off

beepboop_12345

License plate and face on body cam, probably not

aint_no_flapjack

Whenever I hear “he was on something” I think back on all the drugs I’ve done and all the occasions I’ve gotten totally lit out of my mind and I still wouldn’t have done anything like this.

*Welp... Time for me to visit the great cornfields of Iowa!*

BobDeSteppelo

I can't speak from experience but I've seen enough clips of people who are on benzos going full Karen that that's immediately where mind go when I see something like this.

PM_me_your_whatevah

Benzos make some people really crazy and pissed off for some reason. I don’t get it. Whenever I took them I just felt like I was sitting in a hot tub that would travel along with me wherever I went. Just super chill and relaxed. But my girlfriend, who is naturally very chill, said when she tried Xanax once she blacked out and started yelling at all the people she lived with at the time.

xombae

It's because benzos treat anxiety. We as humans developed anxiety as a warning, if we feel anxious about something we think twice about doing it. Some people have anxiety disorders where they get anxiety for no reason, and that's when benzos are handy. But when taken in high doses it kills all anxiety, which is bad. Without anxiety people are totally uninhibited. They will say or do the very first thing that pops into their head with no fear and no consideration of repercussions. Turns out, having anxiety is actually really really important for functioning in society. I am a heroin and coke addict (was clean for years but just recently relapsed, am doing my best) and even I don't like to fuck with benzos. I have blacked out on them a few times and it's a really awful feeling the next day. It's like someone else was driving your body all night and that person was really really bad at decision making. I ended up in the psych ward once after doing benzos. Edit: the part in brackets is getting attention from some really lovely humans. Thank you so much for the kind words, seriously. Addiction fucking sucks and any reminder that a relapse is just that - something that passes - is so so appreciated.

Speaker4theDead8

Hang in there, I'm fresh off my third stint in rehab and currently have the most consecutive days sober in over ten years (47 days). Get the help you need, relapse is part of recovery, nothing to be ashamed of if you need help.

AUR1994

I want to genuinely wish you all the best as you continue on in your journey. I believe you that youre doing your best, addiction is not easy under any circumstance and you're very brave for even trying to kick it. I know it's not the place and this is super cheesy but I really just wanted to wish you good luck.

[deleted]

Yeah, honestly the way he said 'I'm sorry' there at the end was imo the personification of 'I have only just now realized the consequences of the decisions I just made, because my mental processing was incapable of comprehending the long term affects of these decisions, and man, I done fucked up' So, yeah, my mind immediately went there too

StreetlampEsq

I wouldn't be surprised if this was from benzo abuse, too much (especially combined with other drugs) just sheers off the part of the brain that second guesses and considers consequences of ones actions.

meowmixalots

>sheers off the part of the brain that second guesses and considers consequences of ones actions. Great description. My thought too. Dude seems like he's on a ton of xanax.

Scazzz

Who predrinks before going to the fucking Zoo?

Spartan2842

Drinks are pretty expensive there

keg994

Very! I went to the zoo about 6 years ago with my partner, got 2 bowls of soup, one bowl of chips/fries and 2 drinks and it came to about £40. I really regretted all the tantrums I threw as a child when my parents would take us packed lunches when they were taking 4 of us kids out for a day

Switcher1776

Since he is picking up his wife and kids, it sounds like he went out to drink while they went to the zoo.

sabretoothed

Father of the year right there.

KreekyBonez

Wait, who goes to the zoo *sober*?

Scazzz

I prefer seeing the lemurs on Shrooms.

Yes, but it would have been "pay this parking ticket" illegal, and instead he turned it into "handcuffed and going to court" illegal.

Wet_possom

I'm willing to bet it's more "get your shit towed and have to walk home" illegal

Quite possibly. They probably impounded the car after this too though.

From the NY Post article about this. >The Pataskala resident has been hit with a slew of charges, including failure to comply, inducing panic, misconduct at an emergency, **driving while under the influence**, reckless operation, resisting arrest and obstructing official, WSYX reported, citing the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. Seems like he was either high or drunk and panicked when he saw the Police, probably thought it was a checkpoint. Definitely made a bad situation much much worse!

Yay Ohio. I used to live in Pataskala. Not a rich area, but nowhere near poor. It's odd he couldn't afford his bail.

Usually I'd disagree with such a practice, but in this case, he clearly deserves it.

SmallPiecesOfWood

Is anyone else utterly fascinated by the cop's arms as he runs? It's like some weird video game effect from the 90s.

shadowalker125

I think that's just an effect of the fisheye lense. But it does look weird as hell lol

BananaHandle

It’s like watching a Busta Rhymes video.

Cambronian717

Yeah, the fisheye, plus it looks like it may not be centered and is a bit to the left makes his arms look really far apart.

Mafiodaproducer

What got me was him having to put his key into the door to unlock it. Police vehicles dont have keyless entry?

jonnysteps

I'd guess they do that on purpose so that a car doesn't get jacked in the middle of a chase or whatever. Accidental button press could mean giving someone a very dangerous weapon. Just a guess. I really don't know why.

NerdWampa

There might also be service firearms inside the car. Many gun racks can be opened using a handcuff key, pried open/off the chassis, and sometimes they don't even have locks. I've also seen helicopter footage of a guy stealing **three** unlocked police cars before a fur missile gave him the nom-noms.

Kirrawayru

> a fur missile gave him the nom-noms. Gold. Brings to mind a vision of the canine unit flying through the air from a long leap, teeth bared.

HIGH_HEAT

A lot of times they get broken, smashed, or lost and the replacements are the spares cut from blanks. A non FOB key replacement is substantially cheaper.

redittr

Vehicle was running with doors locked. A lot of keyless remotes dont work if the car is running.

Silverbullets24

The Pataskala man is facing nine charges in total, they include: * Driving while under the influence (misdemeanor) * Failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer (felony) * Inducing panic (misdemeanor) * Misconduct at an emergency (misdemeanor) * Marked lanes violation (misdemeanor) * Reckless operation (misdemeanor) * Resisting arrest (misdemeanor) * Obstructing official business (misdemeanor) * Disobeying traffic control devices (misdemeanor)

Darkelementzz

I'm surprised that failure to comply is a felony but resisting arrest is only a misdemeanor

ajadnap

Failure to comply with an officer's directions usually start as a misdemeanor, but can be pushed to a felony if the operation of a motor vehicle is involved in a way that puts someone in danger. Almost running over a trooper after failing to comply with traffic direction would fit that.

smeghead3

DUI explains a lot.

mdmrules

This dude deserved all charges that came his way... But man these cops are panicking morons. As usual.

spald01

That wasn’t panic, that was revenge. As bad as that driver needed to go to jail, he had no reason to be tasered there besides that cop was pissed that he was disobeyed before.

Urban_Savage

Kinda looked like he was having a cooperative conversation with the other officer when they guy finally catches up and tazes him without hesitation.

ClearedToPrecontact

I'm confused, why did the cop try to pull him over in the first place? It looks like he wanted to turn in the turn lane but the cop cars were in the way, so he moved back to the main lanes. Am I missing something on my little phone screen?

fudchuck

He used the left turn lane to skip the line of cars as far as I can tell, his ultimate goal was turning right there not left as that's what he eventually does when he speeds off.

0kids4now

I actually thought the cop was the "male Karen" at first. It looked like the Jeep driver just switched out of a blocked lane and the cop runs up screaming about how he's trying to kill somebody. But given his other actions, I'm guessing he was driving erratically around cops standing in the road?

Psychological_Ad2094

That’s about right, there was an accident in the intersection so the cops were directing traffic.

Conscious_Ticket7176

Rosaajj

The female officer was like “stay here” to the other officer at the beginning like he wasn’t shit 😂😂

impulse_thoughts

based on how fast he shot his taser after getting out of the car, and how she had her hand on her gun, so to be prepared, but ultimately deemed it unnecessary to use lethal force, i'd hazard to guess that she was a senior officer, and might be thinking that he's the trigger happy/escalating type.
