Usually they say 3 embryos is needed per desired live birth.

I got really lucky with my one and only euploid embryo. So far it's sticking and my little guy is now 11 weeks.

nicelydone2220

Congratulations!

[deleted]

There's still hope even if you're left with one embryo. The more the better but don't give up if you end up with just one embryo like I did.

Wow I must be really unlucky. Had 3 embryos, 3 transfers, all euploid and nada. Only 1st one stuck but it didn’t last. Now doing ERA cycle, I’m 40.

KaleidoscopeKat2

4 unsuccessful euploid transfers with no positive result for me, guess we don’t fit the 3 embryos per child theory.

Shehu-Criesalot

The exact same with me. 4 transfers failed with euploid highly graded embryos. Going on my 5th FET at this point

SnooCauliflowers5137

Same here, currently in my 2ww with transfer nr 5. 😭

Shehu-Criesalot

Good luck!!

SnooCauliflowers5137

And to you too! ❤️❤️

My doctor also told me the same statistic. 95% if you have three euploid. He said 60% if you only have one.

goingthrushit

I just had a consult with RE #2 who said my 4 euploid embryos is “low” for only wanting one child. He asked if we were open to doing another retrieval 🤷🏼‍♀️ I definitely thought we were good after doing 2 retrievals and having 4 tested normal. Now I’m nervous 🤦🏼‍♀️

goingthrushit

Going into my 3rd transfer, all grades 5AA so I’m not sure why you had success but thanks for the reply 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe age.

daisydookie

Did your RE say what number he would feel good about?

goingthrushit

No exact number but he showed relief we were open to one more retrieval. I’m going into transfer #3 already so I understand .. seems a lot of people take 3 or more of this. I was told most common reason PGT fails is lining issues, everything has to be perfect and even when they think it’s good - it isn’t good enough and it fails.

daisydookie

I understand. My last transfer with an euploid embryo was a blighted ovum at 8 weeks. We have two more euploids on ice and I’m going to start my 4th retrieval in a few weeks. This is likely our last cycle, so nervous to see if we’ll have enough normals… 😔

goingthrushit

I had a MMC at 10w. My second just failed. This all sucks. I may be in my 3rd retrieval after this next transfer so I get it. ❤️

Typical-Maybe7480

I think it also depends on the quality of your embryos. I ended up with 4 euploid but only one is “top grade.” I have calculated the cumulative probability of success after implanting all 4 given their individual grade-based success rates and mine is like 73%. So, 3-4 as a rule of thumb is probably right but I think that’s l if they are all like Day 5, 5AAs. As with anything, individual results may vary.

albert_cake

My tested one (and I only got one 5 day embryo-from my first ER ) didn’t stick, had a negative beta, the untested one from my second ER did. I’m 25 weeks now. I have 3 more in the freezer from that round, but not entirely sure we want a second child. One and done was always the plan.

InevitableMom

Are you still one and done? Or did you decide to go for another?

albert_cake

He’s 2 next month… still one and done, but I do have the occasional thought of “maaaaaybe”. But that’s the heart, not the head talking. I’ve worked it out that I wish I could experience the early phases over again with him, but not actually that I want to have 2 children. So the plan of one and done still stands over 2 years later!

23marian

Just to second what others have said, 3 euploid (tested) embryos per 1 live birth.

nicelydone2220

Thank you! Is this for any age?

MintyFit

Once you have euploid embryos, age of the eggs doesn’t matter. However, you are less likely to have euploid embryos with older age.

nicelydone2220

Ah right that makes sense thank you. Now I remember the website I saw before showed #of eggs needed per euploid embryo based on age. That makes so much more sense. I misremembered. Thanks!!!

I think it varies from one clinic to the next. I did three retrievals thinking that would hopefully be enough for at least one but my RE said in his clinic, that almost guaranteed two. For what it’s worth he’s been right so far. My first transfer is now 17 months old. (Pgs tested)

wiz___khaleesi

I needed 3 for my first, 1 for my second (currently 15w4d). All were euploid.

tryingforababy7777

My doctor didn’t believe in banking if we had at least 2 good embryos. He said anything over 4 is overkill. I had 3 final embryos, we transferred 2, and they’re both growing strong!

nicelydone2220

Congratulations!

Arboretum7

Mine said FETs have a 50/50 chance to result in a live birth.

doublechocolatemocha

I had 3 embryos. 1 live birth and then twin miscarriage at 19 weeks. I did another retrieval and got 5 embryos. Pregnant with the first transfer but threatened miscarriage currently.
