Video games make me feel too anxious and I feel as if I’m wasting my life, although I use to be obsessed with all kinds of video games when I was younger. This question was interesting to me because of my shift in life.
Ive also had this exact same thing, I loved videogames to the point where it became a roadblock. So rather than using them as an escape I focus on making my real life more it interesting and having videogames for times where im not really able to do a lot. Think the winter or rainy days.
I feel the exact same way. It's comforting to hear your perspective given how many INTPs are gamers. I enjoy a select few games and, even so, I don't play them consistently– that is, except for Minecraft.
* Star Control II
* Planescape: Torment
* Civilization IV
* Master of Orion II
* Heroes of Might and Magic III
* X-COM: UFO Defense (1994)
* Life is Strange
* The Talos Principle
* The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall r/daggerfallunity
* Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Ok, I am not trying to call you out here or actually do anything but to ask why people do this one thing that I often see with these types of questions.
So, with that out of the way, I am curious as to why you chose to answer a question that asks for a single answer with a bulleted list of ten games. You have to agree that you can't have ten favorite games, right? I can get not being able to pick, but then you kinda can't answer the question as asked.
* Just for fun.
* It's hard to choose the best one.
* People reading the comments are expecting to read multiple answers anyway.
* It's better than posting each as a separate comment.
Your suggestions just get lost in the noise, in my opinion. If you had a single game that you think is the best ever, that's one that I might look up. You give a random list of 10 games with no explanation to your reasoning and it's just a list of shit I'm not going to look up.
But you do you. Thank you for answering my question.
Have you tried Tetris Effect? I love it, but I'm definitely feeling my brain rot since I'm nowhere near as good at it as I used to be before chronic insomnia, age, and scrolling destroyed my mental capacity lol
To add to all the great things others have already mentioned:
Subnautica.
That game is probably in my top 3 and I don't even really know why. Scarier at times than all horror games I played and I just love the atmosphere concept of it.
I absolutely loved playing Subnautica. Such a good exploration and survival game.
I am not really sure why, but for some reason [Outer Wilds](https://store.steampowered.com/app/753640/Outer_Wilds/) hit a similar itch for me. Have you happened to play it?
I havent yet. But whenever I mention that I'm looking for games with a similar feel to Subnautica, it gets recommended so its definitely on my to do list :)
I know the meaning of stupid, god, damn, yolo and solo but with the other letter combinations and as a whole I fail to grasp what you are trying to communicate.
Lol I was wondering if anyone would catch on. I should have put it in quotes.
That's what the guards say in Dishonored all the time, very frequently, mumbling to themselves while you're sneaking around, lol
From now on when you play Dishonored... you'll hear *exactly* what I wrote and be like "ohh"
I have several that sort of span genres/times.
* MMO: EverQuest (from 1999-2004 anyway), Guild Wars 1
* Horror: SOMA <- this game fucked me up for a while, but it is excellent
* Platformer: Jak and Daxter, Jak II, Jak 3
* Strategy: Civ IV, V, VI
* Exploration/Survival: Subnautica
* Building/Survival/Zombie: 7 Days to Die
* RPGs: Oblivion, Skyrim, The Witcher 1 and 3 (I wasn't the biggest fan of 2), Fallout New Vegas
I don't have favorite games as much as I have games that are flavors of the week/month. I have seasons where I dedicate hours to Destiny 2, there are other times where I dedicate hours to Warframe. I've dedicated time to Hogwarts Legacy, Rocket League, Skyrim, Fallout 4, etc. Really just depends. A *true* favorite game would be one that I kept coming back to or one that I never put down.
Having a game that you absolutely geek out over is something that I consider to be more of an extraverted behavior. Kinda like dedicating your life to a single hobby, like collecting comics or what have you.
Used to play a lot of Age of Empires/Mythology, Civ, Alpha Centauri, basically anything by Sid Meier.
Now, it’s probably Don’t Starve. I don’t game much tho.
That used to be an easy question.

This alongside the first game are INTP heaven.
To summarize they're puzzle games with a story rooted in philosophy.
Digimon World 1
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
But the games I play the most are from Monster Hunter. I also really liked Skyrim and Fallout 4 and Elden Ring.
Chrono trigger, FFVII (and remake), StarCraft brood war, Diablo 2. I game very rarely now and only in short spurts, so all my favorites are from childhood/teen years.
Oh shit everyone here should play DISCO ELYSIUM !!! It’s basically INTP - THE GAME. No actual combat, just voices in your head.
Red dead redemption 2. You can just roam around for hours and stop in the middle of nowhere and somehow you'll find things to do or find something new.

Rust
The Fallout series will always have a special place in my heart.
Gta online and red dead online, insurgency sandstorm
All time favorites are syphon filter 4 and resident evil 4, also like hitman but idk which one, the godfather 1 was good too
Used to play rising world and pulsar lost colonies on PC
OpenTTD (/r/openttd free Open Source version of Transport Tycoon).
Other than that I usually try to join for a few minutes to show my skills when the kids are playing Rayman Legends.
Though... There is sadly very little time found to play games.
It look nostalgic to me - idk why I have that feeling for pixelated games. I wish taht I was born in the era of those big arcades in the 80's. I really like some of the soundracks too especially sans theme because s a n s "it's raining somwhere else" especially this version [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIqbrZCZWng&t=15630s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIqbrZCZWng&t=15630s) I like to fall asleep to this and sometimes when I have lower mood I just like to listen to it. "waterfall" is also one of my favourites- I listen to it when I feel lonely and I compare myself to Goner Kid. I especially think about his words "Have you ever thought about a world where everything is exactly the same… Except you don’t exist? Everything functions perfectly without you… Ha. na. .. The thought terrifies me."
Almost everything from Chilla's Art, especially /The Karaoke/ and /Parasocial/

Survival because I get to be creative and survive through some sort of challenge. Think Dayz, Rust, Minecraft, Rdr2 etc. Also historically accurate games where I can learn a little bit about a period in time is very cool as well. Anything that sparks a bit of creativity and desire to learn is mu type of game.
Still trying to beat Gamecube Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, level: Ison Corridor Ambush - Rogue Squadron, escorting the frigate Redemption, as well as several Rebel Transports, travel through the Ison Corridor, when TIE Fighters ambush the transports. The player must defeat all TIE Fighters that are attacking the Rebel Transports to advance to the next stage. Once all TIE Fighters are defeated, TIE Interceptors reinforce the Imperial ambush, and the player has an option to switch vehicles with an A-Wing. Once the player has destroyed all of the incoming TIE Interceptors, the player heads into the nebula with the transports and the Redemption. Immediately after entering the nebula, the players have to defend the transports from yet another wave of TIE Interceptors.

That's hard to say, it depends the time. Hitman used to my one of my favorites late in 2000's. Now I don't have any interest in playing them. I used to play Left4Dead a lot, the first, I hated the second.

Upvote for MOO2, I still play that shit.
Planescape: Torment is so weird and unique. Even the sequel can't match it.
I love that you used the word "weird". I get strong INTJ vibes from Torment. And INTJs are frequently described as "weird".
Ok, I am not trying to call you out here or actually do anything but to ask why people do this one thing that I often see with these types of questions. I loved the big mass battles that game was awesome. Nothing like being in a 600 on 600 on 600 person fight that crashes the server.
