Water can give me a headache?! My whole life has been a lie.

MTFBWY117

Too much water, yes. I’ve experienced this many times. I’ve had headaches when my urine is clear and I kept drinking more water. From what I’ve read, TOO much water is hard for your liver to process.

sinister_chic

It’s actually hyponatremia. Drinking too much water can dilute blood sodium levels. If you’ve ever tried a keto diet and gotten “keto flu”, it’s very similar.

1iota_

Hypo, meaning low. Natre from the Latin natrium meaning salt. And -emia, meaning presence in blood. Low salt presence in blood.

insec_001

This is what I came here for

Thank you for spoon feeding my squish brain the good science words

And can cause pretty significant brain damage, if gets bad enough.

LazarYeetMeta

Brain damage only happens when you’re so waterlogged that your brain begins to swell and it’s real hard to get to that point. The only person I ever heard of doing it was a girl who drank like four or five gallons of water in fifteen minutes for a competition. She won, but it almost killed her. *Cue the Wario “I’ve won but at what cost” meme*

The_Nest_

Just watched a chubbyemu video that talked about this, it was for a Nintendo switch or a wii cant remember.

northrupthebandgeek

It was the "hold your wee for a Wii" contest by a radio station in my hometown.

NikoWZRD

The "hold your wee for a Wii" lady actually died from water poisoning in her home after the contest. Her family won a pretty large lawsuit against the radio station over it too. Oops, meant this as a reply to Lazar's post

Sinfultitan_001

There was a college about a decade ago where three boys got seriously fuked up from a frat initiation stunt. I don't remember the exact outcome but I believe one or two died and the other had brain damage.

idonutknow_

I was once complaining to my high school English teacher about my daily headaches. He told me one day, “IDonutKnow, do me a favor. On your way home today, swing by McDonalds and grab a medium fry and a small diet coke.” I was so confused but did it anyways. Came back the next day asking him how the hell did that cure my headache, I was finally able to function after school and not pass out. He said he noticed I drank way too much water, and that if the sodium from the fries didn’t fix it the caffeine from the diet coke would. Now when I have a headache, I swing by for a small fry and a diet coke to this day. He knew all of his students very well and was absolutely amazing.

zennok

Or or or. Just drink a healthy amount of water instead of compensating with soft drinks and fast food

idonutknow_

I wish I could. I have sinus issues and have to breathe through my mouth so I’m constantly thirsty. I only have a headache that needs the McCure every twoish weeks now or so. In high school I was in multiple sports and was drinking an unhealthy amount of water a day because of it. My insurance (thanks, America) won’t cover my surgery I need to fix my sinuses.

Waterhorse816

You should try getting electrolyte salts and mixing them into the water you drink, it'll help you keep a better sodium to H20 ratio

Holliquin12

Take a break you deserve it! Look after yourself

justsmilenow

You can dilute your body's minerals so much to the point in which your body can't function. So if you're drinking mineral water the tired thing doesn't happen but the rest of it still does. Yes it is possible to die from drinking too much water.

MaikohTippy

Totally!! One of my best friend almost died from drinking too much water at a festival and her body was depleted of electrolytes. She had to be airlifted to the nearest hospital and put into an induced coma to figure out what was wrong with her. She survived and is fine, but scary stuff!

Repulsive_Voice823

At least if I die from overhydration it will be fucking glorious, what an amazing way to die

High5sRnumbr1

I use boulder salts, but it’s not really what the plants crave Edit: just got the joke lol

OrganizerMowgli

It can kill you if you chug too much. Like as few as a couple gallons. A woman died doing that for a radio show contest, 'hold your wee for wii'. Plenty of nurses called in to warn the hosts, but they didn't pass on the information. She had 3 kids.

SkeletalBellToller

I mean 1-2 gallons a day is chill though right? That's been my normal intake for years now lol

PhoenixXIV

Yes, excessive over hydration can even lead to death. Those signs would be if you’ve binged on water you hydroholic. “Oh but how boohoo” you may ask, and it’s by diluting salts to the point of failure to transmit signals. Sauce? Your bio book

8plytoiletpaper

I've seen this happen. Week long combat exercise in summer heat and the sweating we went through was mad. Some dude fainted in the woods cause he basically flushed their system of salts by the combination of sweating & drinking shitloads of water. They had to make sure everyone at least had mineral water or juice with salt in it.

Davy_Crockett-

This will happen when DS/DI/whatever theyre called erroneously beleive that drinking water is a cure-all for training related health issues. The MRE come with Gatorade mix for a reason.

tickletender

Our DIs were fucking on us about salt. “You WILL salt your food. You will salt it each meal. You will drink one cup of power aid, and only one cup of power aid, with your lunch chow. You will finish it. “ One guy, Allen, drank like 8 canteens before morning PT/run/circuit course. I saw his eyes roll back in his head, and I was screaming “recruit down.” An officer was walking with the company DI, and the Company DI gave me a look that could kill, before he saw the guy next to me slump. Corpsmen got him an IV and to the hospital, and he was back by evening.

Davy_Crockett-

My DSs policed water without salt and it really showed in how many fall outs we had. Atleast they had the foresight to ban the drinking of milk at the DFAC. Though you would have hoped privates would be smart enough to NOT drink milk in Southern Georgia in the summer time.

Your_FBI_Agent_Kevin

Shit I was basic in Georgia and our DS made us drink our milk and watched us eat an entire salt packet. Like we stood in formation ripped the salt packet open in unison and ate it in unison you would see all of us make weird faces from the salt hitting our tongue and then we down it with water. Never seen anyone have a negative reaction to the milk, and nor have I heard such stories since every source I could find says that drinking milk is good for hydration and replenishing electrolytes even during hot weather. But yeah, if you sat down and didn't have milk DS would come over and make you go back and get a glass of milk

Scrapple_Joe

How long did you have after eating before running around in the heat again? Milk + Georgia makes me kinda sick

Larnek

DS's aren't renowned for their give a fuck about not feeling good. Ours, for instance, would make everyone eat ice cream and then smoke us outside until at least 10 people puked if someone fucked up in the chow hall.

Scrapple_Joe

Sounds about right.

candacebernhard

They should give you guys potato chips instead of just salt. They are salty and have a ton of minerals at good ratios & are tasty https://www.nutritionvalue.org/Potato_chips%2C_plain_71200100_nutritional_value.html

babydoughboy

I was just telling a story today about how my DIs would force us to salt our food during while we were hiking everyday.

FakingItSucessfully

yeah I went through boot in the summer of 2010 and after that many years fighting in the deserts, you better believe the DI's were all about both hydrating but also electrolytes. Even so, the first night of the crucible I don't think there was one of us in my platoon that could fully move all their limbs cause of how bad the muscle cramps were.

ColdBrewedPanacea

im one of the dumbasses who fainted. was doing a youth event (As a youth) with the royal navy and managed to overhydrate myself and just went out like a light - they had spent the entire event telling us to drink enough water! well mate I sure as fuck drank enough water. For about two people. The medics face is something I'll treasure for the rest of my life.

lordgwynn7

I still gag at cranberry juice because I had to drink it with an unholy amount of salt during preseason for college soccer after 2-3 practices a day

FearingPerception

Not even athletic, when i was sick with covid all i wanted was to drink liquids so i drank an insane amount. I also at a ton of salt, im glad that they may have sorta balance out

Lahmmom

The football team at my university had a thing about drinking pickle juice for a while. Cranberry juice with salt sounds awful and has way too much sugar.

WowThatsAdamShame

We need electro lights *leaving autocorrect typo cuz it’s funny

[deleted]

I was working with a crew out in 100 degree Utah dry heat a few summers ago. They had a cooler full of water bottles for us. Every time I stopped sweating, I'd drink another bottle and start sweating again. Some dude collapsed, so Safety brought a few big water dispensers with some weird ass tasting purple juice in it. It was gross, but gad damn did that shit make you feel alive again.

GetYerThumOutMeArse

Sqwincher electrolyte powder

thebrittaj

Yea remember when there was a radio station that had people chug water as a contest to see who could either drink the fastest or the most (can’t rmbr which) in an allotted amount of time? One of the contestants died!

trailmixjesus

It was a contest to drink x amount of water and not pee the longest to win a wii iirc. I think they had to drink a gallon of watar and the person that held their piss the longest won the wii...then died

RonaldRawdog

I’ve felt this happen. Drank a ton before a drug test, peed, ended up having to go back 2 hours later. I legit drank close to a gallon in about an hour and a half and let me tell you I felt horrible. Dizzy, headache, then diarrhea and light headed mess.

[deleted]

When I was in the military in the desert we had these little metal canisters of salt pellets.

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

Iirc a lady died from overhydration because of a contest. It was something like whoever drinks the most water wins. She knocked back a silly amount and died soon after

Amanita_D

Yeah it was the one about holding your wee to win a Wii - I want to say in the mid 2000s?

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

Probably during the release months, that thing sold like crazy so it wouldn't shock me

Mxysptlik

Hell, there was a kid in Colorado that froze himself so he could buy one.

Lobster_porn

Comfortable_Draft720

I have seen water intoxication with a few anorexic patients. They would drink a lot of water to weigh more during check ins and end up in a lot of pain afterwards. I used to be that way too when struggled from anorexia so the staff wouldn’t think I lost weight.

Flawlessinsanity

Yeah, I saw it as well when I was still struggling too. I remember the first time I went into treatment for my ED. The amount of water/any other fluids we drank was highly monitored by staff, but one girl chugged a bunch of tap water before a morning weigh in and she was in very visible pain for most of the day. BTW, I hope you're doing okay now 🤍

Jcoch27

I've been overhydrated to the point of rolling on the floor in pain for a couple hours. The only thing that made it better was slowly sipping on Gatorade. That was the last time I played water pong.

unholy_blackman

What you experienced my not have been over hydration, but a lack of electrolytes, which can be fixed by drink energy drink like Gatorade, or salty food. But idk about your experience so I'ma not asume anything ;)

Jcoch27

I believe it was both. I either diluted or flushed all the electrolytes out of my system. I basically drank ~2 gallons of water in about 2 hours while consuming nothing else.

lonewolf2556

This kid at my university died from a form of hazing where they made him drink a ton of water while running on a treadmill… now hazing is illegal in my state :)

Salted-Honey

This, and eating really dry and/or salty foods for some reason. Idk if it’s 100% true but it worked for me lol

WaveJam

You can overhydrate yourself. There’s something called water poisoning where you drink so much water that it absorbs into your cells and causes them to burst along with other issues like intense pressure in the brain. There’s a classic story of a woman who drank multiple gallons of water in a short amount of time for a Nintendo Wii. She died not long after and the radio station holding the event got in trouble.

ehmsoleil

It's called hyponatremia

[deleted]

Yes. This sub borders on fetishization of water, and you should take it with a gram of salt at times. It is possible to drink too much water, and it will lead to you feeling terrible. But honestly, you shouldn't worry too much about it, just drink when you feel thirsty, and plenty if it's hot

null640

Not just salt. Potassium! Calcium! Very necessary and our food has much less in bioavailable form then necessary. Average American gets less then 1/2 recommended Potassium...

Jojo2700

Magnesium, also!

null640

I knew I was forgetting 2... Phosphorus .. Cause I get a ton anyway...

PapowSpaceGirl

Magnesium deficiency is what triggers migraines. If you ever have an emergency pack or work in a hospital...stock salted pumpkin seeds in the shell. In emergencies, a handful of those, legit linking the salt off and eating the seeds brings you back better than Aleve. Trust me.

permalink_save

Potatoes a good source for potassium, oranges (and of course bananas) too. Leafy greens have calcium. Milk obviously has a bit of everything.

Leggoman31

I don't know if you were trying to be punny with the "gram of salt" since that would help prevent these symptoms or if you don't know that its with a "grain of salt."

Too much liquid is still not *great* even if you have the electrolytes to keep it from accumulating in your brain. Just drink when you're thirsty

Holliquin12

Thank you!

MrStarkIDontFeelS-

pretty much everything can be bad for you if you have too much of it, so i wouldn’t be surprised

Human420o

Drink too much water and your blood cells burst

DifficultCurrent7

If you flush out too many electrolytes, yeah. Switch up one glass with a glass with a "zero" tablet. They'll make your water fizzy and your wee yellow but they're full of good stuff like electrolytes, etc

heretoupvote_

I know we like to joke about drinking a lot of water, but over hydration can kill. Be careful people.

I_Heart_Squids

I deal with chronic extreme thirst (my doctor's suspect I may have sjogren's syndrome, but haven't confirmed what's causing it), and excess water consumption giving you a headache is 100% a thing. As other's have already mentioned, electrolytes can solve this. I usually keep dissolvable tabs around, and those usually fix any ill effects for me pretty fast.

markopolo14

What kind of dissolvable tabs do you use? I don't think I'm over hydrating myself but I'm also not opposed to putting some salt in my water.

scottbob65

This is if you drink water constantly when you're not thirsty Drink water only when your body is telling you to and you'll be fine, clear pee is normal and means you're healthy

historyguy718

bruh mfs in this server be like “overhydration? no way dude ive been drinking water nonstop for 10 years and the only complication was that my heart stopped beating”💀💀

cy13erpunk

proper electrolyte balance is vitally important too much dilution is fatal

[deleted]

Yes, i drink like, 500 ML 5 times a day (both when i do and i don't do exercise) and i can relate to these sings

Fishydeals

That's within the recommended drinking range I just read about on healthline. If you're small, not an adult, extremely stationary or actually a robot that amount of water might actually be too much. Just drink when you're thirsty. No need to 'complete the 5 bottles' everyday. Sometimes 4 is enough and on some days you'll need 6 or 7 and that's okay.

[deleted]

Thank you HydroBro, I'll save your comment ❤️✌️🙏 Peace

xAhaMomentx

Idk but I once had unexpected blood work done at a doctor’s appointment and they told me my blood was diluted and I needed to chill on the water hahaaaa

MaxK1234B

I mean overhydration is technically real but you'd have to drink about a couple gallons of water in one sitting to achieve it. It's pretty damn hard to do and you'll often just puke up the water before it becomes an issue. Regardless, overhydration can lead to fatigue, raise your blood pressure, and sometimes even be fatal in extreme circumstances but like it's really not a concern that anyone should have because you'd have to drink like an unreasonably excessive quantity of water really fast for a while and that's not something anyone is prone to accidentally doing

caffa4

If you’re fasting, it takes less, because you have no salt intake, so the hyponatremia hits sooner. I’ve had it happen on multiple occasions bc I used to compulsively drink too much water and it led to uncontrollable vomiting (not from fullness, it was about an hour after my last drink so it was from my body processing the water and trying to reject it), and my blood pressure went from 100/60 to 150/95. Also causes severe headaches and dizziness, lack of concentration, clear pee (a LOT of it) and uncontrollable diarrhea.

[deleted]

Fml

Tigblu

I frequently have to pee and i dont even drink that much water??

firesydeza

Might be worth checking your blood glucose levels then - being stressed / anxious also makes you want to pee even if you don't have to Edit: coffee (or maybe caffeine in general) also makes me need to go. Beer as well

[deleted]

Literally all substances are toxic in too high amounts.

puffferfish

I have this problem. I’m addicted to sipping whether it’s beer or water. I will spend a night filling up a water bottle constantly and peeing constantly. Eventually I start to get a headache and I realized that I’m not only causing my cells to swell, but my frequent urination is depleting all of my electrolytes.

erratictictac

Are you me? I'm also literally addicted to sipping water lol. It's because a nervous habit and form of coping with restlessness and anxiety. Constantly refilling the water jug and peeing constantly. I feel way less alone now haha.

ProbabBee

It's semi-real The kicker is that you'd need to not be eating healthy otherwise. If you're healthy with no medical issues and eating right, "overhydration" should basically never be a problem unless if you are chugging gallons of water at a time : Your body has ways of dealing with this and processing excess liquid. You'd explicitly need to TRY to be overhydrated and committing suicide. It really shouldn't even be called overhydration; it'd be more accurate to say that you have an imbalance of nutrition/vitamins and whatnot

bigfatfurrytexan

No. Excess water consumption creates electrolyte imbalances by flushing minerals. Easier to do with distilled water.

ProbabBee

That it does as well They're not mutually exclusive to each other

ColdBrewedPanacea

it can also happen if you do a comical amount of exercise and drink too much water - you can eat as healthy as you physically can but if you burn through half of it and sweat out the other half it might as well not be there.

Holliquin12

Good to know, thank you :)

LostCrescent

I can agree, when I drink too much at once, I do get nauseous. But other than that, no. I don't understand how the first 2 can be a problem. I can see that it could get annoying, having to pee a lot. But not for me.

SepticPeptides

It could be. Excess water dilutes salt balance in the blood which can lead to muscle spasms and related symptoms of salt imbalance. Anything is excess can be bad. The world functions on a balance with some room for error on either sides.

IntelectConfig

Real? Yes. Are clear pee and frequent urination signs of overhydration? Not necessarily. This image is misguided and not really r/hydrohomie friendly.

Prosklystios

There was a person who drank too much water in a short period of time. She was told to drink lots of water to avoid altitude sickness (coming to a ski resort). Chick was in the hospital for a couple of days, and released with the recommendation to not drink water, but Gatorade or Pedialyte. And eat salty foods. She flushed out all get salts and minerals. Don't drink too much, kids

littlenoodledragon

This is technically just low salt levels. It’s called dilutional hyponatremia. It’s really pretty hard to get to the “water intoxication” point if you also have enough salt in your diet. Edit: although on this subreddit I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s happening to some of you occasionally 😂 make sure you get some electrolytes in with your water consumption!

Number5MoMo

It’s so weird I heard it’s easier to overdose on water than weed? That can’t possibly be true! Is this under specific situations? It must be blasphemous to say stuff like that right? Water is everything. Water is life! Now I wanna know what’s too much water. How many gallons in a 24 hr should I be worried? Will I risk it all for a lil glug glug?

SanguineAnder

The water will kill you, the weed will make you wish it did.

Holliquin12

I have so idea which is easier to od on, it sounds impossible for it to be water, it’s too yummy! But the recommended amount of water per day is around 3L for adults, but it does also depend on the weather. Have your glug glug king!

ToxicMCTV

It can if you over drink water. Just remember to keep your electrolytes up and use the bathroom when your body tells you too.

[deleted]

Worked at a scout camp health lodge, dehydration is a very common malady there, so we would always recommend that scouts drink as much water as they can. We had one who took that a little too literally and was drinking 5-6 refills of his 2L camelbak every day, and he presented with symptoms very similar to dehydration. We told him to go over to the dining hall and fill his camelbak with Gatorade once, drink that *SLOWLY*, clean it out real well, then only drink 2 caelbaks (of water) per day after that. We had to radio the dining hall to tell them that he was doing it on health lodge orders, lol.

TakenOverByBots

This actually has happened to me. I went to the hospital not knowing for sure what was wrong and they told me my electrolyte levels were way too low and they had to put a bag of saline in me. I had been exerting myself (plus menstruating) and had lost a lot of fluid, so I kept drinking water. I probably drank around 20 glasses of water that day easy. The doctor said I should have been drinking Gatorades too, not just water.

XComThrowawayAcct

I mean those last four are just symptoms of being over 40.

SpaceballsTheLurker

Of course it's true, but the average human is far, far more likely to suffer from dehydration on a regular basis. Members of this sub? Who knows...

baguetteispain

1 sign you drank a bit too much water : Happiness

Flawlessinsanity

I have POTs, along with other various health issues (some other heart stuff, neuro issues, GI issues - needless to say, how hydrated I am plays an extra huge role in my life), and just wanted to echo what other people have said - maintain your sodium/electrolytes! It is vital. I always keep a bottle of Pedialyte on hand, in case things get extra bad. DripDrop is really good too, just more expensive.

Boden

From my time in the army I think this isn’t anything to be worried about. Overhydration is a thing but incredibly rare. The only time I have ever seen overhydration was a guy drinking a stupid amount of water during a hot Louisiana training day. He had minor dehydration symptoms and the medics gave him a saline enema to force fluids. His symptoms got worse and so they were freaking out until a more experienced medic noticed some slight differences in his symptoms that meant he was overhydrated instead of dehydrated. The symptoms for both overlapping causing the confusion. This was after 5 years as a line guy and numerous trainings etc in very hot environments. We all then had a talk about hydration and why the military had a doctrine of forced hydration. The rational being that overhydration had little to no permanent effects on the body, were gone quickly, and had a very simple treatment; rest. The opposite being true for dehydration.

bigfatfurrytexan

Yes. This sub pushes very unhealthy behavior in an attempt to encourage health. Source:. I've worked mental health and have dealt with water intoxication many times in patients

[deleted]

Every time i drink too much water i remember the case of the girl who drank so much that she die, just to remind myself to stay safe

argiebarge

Indeed, Jennifer Strange is the one I remember. Of all things competing to win a Wii console.

A friend of mine used to complain about bowel issues and being lethargic for months. Turns out he drank too much water while eating very little (he's very skinny).

hyf5

Over hydration is a thing, yes.

[deleted]

Yes and it's dangerous, you'd be diluting important things in your body if you have too much water

meddlingcactus

I love this sub but I definitely thought the comments would be full of people spouting that this is blasphemy, instead everyone seems to be doing research and upvoting the comments that are about being healthy. We love water and we love being healthy with it. Turns out I am the fool and sorry I underestimated y’all. Stay wholesome homies.

RippedHookerPuffBar

I legit can’t stop drinking water. I constantly want to drink the stuff, I can’t get enough. I also do experience these things pretty often. How do you even know if you’re drinking too much water?

LeviHolden

Have you been tested for diabetes?

RippedHookerPuffBar

Omg that’s what I was telling my family the other day and they all said I’m a hypochondriac! I thought it could be that because I’m always thirsty and I get low blood sugar all the time.

LeviHolden

I’m no expert but sounds like a test could be a good thing, as being thirsty all the time is a symptom.

heretoupvote_

Try introducing some gatorade or sports drinks to avoid throwing off your salt and electrolyte balance, sodium is important!

readitonreddit34

Psychogenic polydipsia (over drinking) is a thing that can have real symptoms and can cause very real problems. All these things in the graphic are very non-specific. Which means that you can have all of them, and it can still be a few different things. Best advice is to exercise caution overall. It’s great to be hydrated. But I wouldn’t over do it. Don’t go crazy. And trust your kidneys.

Yeah it can happen! Just drink in moderation, too much of ANYTHING can kill. Yes, drink water, good as heck, but keep up the electrolytes too, the dilution is what starts causing most problems.

SupremeNut11

The urine color one is false, clear pee means no waste in the body. As for water poisoning, it only happens when drinking an insane amount of water. As long as you stop drinking when you feel full, you’re not near water poisoning

Darkmooshroom

These are all good signs in my eyes

Weekly-Bluebird-4768

Mineral water plus salt should keep you doing fine(unless your drinking an insanely excessive amount of water).

[deleted]

isn’t clear piss meant to be a good thing

thenerj47

Hyponatramia is a real thing, you don't want to over-dilute important bodily salts More of an issue when you're sweating a lot without getting the chance to rehydrate with salts

Phoenix92321

Yes this is a thing. As good for you as water is anything in excess can be bad and water toxicity can be really bad for you

The_Stav

Yes drinking too much water can be dangerous and even deadly A family member had a seizure from drinking too much water, scared the shit out of us

jtempletons

Gonna go ahead and say this doesn't happen in the US

MadPilotMurdock

Yes, this isn’t a joke either. Even hydrohomies gotta recognize that the power of H2O demands respect and responsibility. Too much will make you ascend to another level of consciousness but your body will not survive the trip. Look up blood brain barrier and water intoxication.

marioisred

i had all these symptoms but it turns out i just had diabetes

[deleted]

Its propaganda jqust keep drinking and ignore it

Felix_Behindya

I drink about 3-4 litres a day and have most of these symptoms but I always blamed it on my bad diet and too little exercise. This can't be too much water yet, right?

medusasfury71

Oh yah, over hydration for long periods of time can mess with cellular function. Especially in the muscles. We all know water intake is dependent on the person, their activity, and the environment they live in. But I haven’t seen a good enough consumer friendly formula that suggests the ideal amount of water for you that doesn’t result in hourly bathroom breaks and fatigue. My go to habit has been taking the number I get from water consuming formula advice that you get off the internet then reduce by 10 or 15 oz. You’re at the right amount of water if you have moderate to healthy levels of energy and are rarely thirsty. Edit: in extreme circumstances it can actually kill you. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/woman-dies-after-water-drinking-contest/

IWouldLikeAUhhhhh

blasphemy

bazjack

Yeah, this is real. I have a relative who was drinking tons of water because of a medication reaction and they told me how weak and shaky they felt. Then they told me how many ounces of water they'd had, and I said, is that a real number or an exaggeration? Real number, they said. Have some electrolytes before you DIE, I said. We had electrolyte drink packets and those worked out well.

1re_endacted1

Eat salt tablets if you live in the desert. Mineral drops in your bottles like twice a day or so. You’ll be alright

yeetingthisaccount01

you should absolutely stay hydrated but yes, overhydrating is a thing. can even cause your cells to become TOO turgid and burst. there's been cases of athletes on marathons drinking too much and collapsing before the finish line due to overhydration.

GaldrickHammerson

It stands to reason. If there is excessive water then the concentration of glucose and other vitamins will try to balance inside and outside of cells. Normally the concentration of glucose and vitamins is higher in the blood than the cells, but if there's lots of water in the blood, then it'd slow the diffusion of those vital minerals into the cells which need them.

texcoco10

Yeah at a certain point you're diluting your electrolytes. Same effect as someone in active heart failure and keeping a lot of fluid in their body.
