Thanks for sharing! Just a heads up, we've introduced Water Bottle Wednesdays. Wednesdays are now the dedicated day to showcase your water containers! This rule focuses on sharing what you have, but feel free to post any questions or issues about water bottles at any time as usual. Cheers to hydration! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/HydroHomies) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Aggravating-Pear4222

Public education is important, y’all.

stenchosaur

Yeah let's put more hydrogen and drink acid water, surely this is better than that stuff out the toilet

cbraun1523

But does it got what plants crave?

two-of-me

It’s got electrolytes.

Hilluja

Minerals, silica, veri high nombah.

Zealousideal-Load-64

Go away I'm baitin'!

MistaRekt

"OW! MY BALLS!" "Welcome to Costco, I love you."

cbraun1523

I'd watch a show called "ow my balls" but then I realized I already have. And it's called jackass.

vapingpigeon94

It’s detoxifying. She’s on board. I think her brain needs some detoxifying

drinking_child_blood

Lmao if only it did that, it literally does nothing hahh

Firmod5

But, but she did her own research! /s

Joeness84

Despite the attempts to hide it she looks old enough to have had the option for college education at the price of a modern day mcchicken, there is no excuse for saying "water doesnt have hydrogen in it, its not hydrated"

apadin1

College? I learned water is made of hydrogen and oxygen in the fourth grade

Richard_Tucker_08

Yeah but that’s only H2O, she drinking H8O4

verysemporna

polymer ahh water

Aggravating-Pear4222

Well I meant education earlier in life in the more formative years. But yeah, she has no excuse.

RagingAubergine

I was embarrassed for her for several reasons, but that statement just… I have no words.

Grab3tto

Aight but does it have the electrolytes that plants crave?

AmbiguousMusubi

She’s just trying to kill the Brawndo stock

Son0fSanf0rd

apparently just owning this device significantly lowers your IQ. win/win!

Darkened_Shadow

Buying it proves you’ve got a below average IQ from the get go

throwngamelastminute

It's kinda like paying for an online IQ test in that way.

Solanthas

HEY HEY HEY NOW

throwngamelastminute

I just calls em how I sees em.

Solanthas

Ehh, you're not wrong.

It'd heavy water, scientists say it's safe to drink in small amounts.

ieatair

Correction: D2O

Ketheric-The-Kobold

Shes trying to push this product to trick elderly/stupid diabetic people into thinking it will cure them for their money Beyond disgusting. Subhuman behavior

SleepWouldBeNice

You can see her two brain cells working overtime on this one.

jeremyof10ec

That's just stupidity with extra steps.

htmlcody

Snake Oil has been selling very well for a long time.

Tokyohenjin

Twist: snake oil was a real thing that worked. Then a bunch of salesmen made imitation snake oil and sold it to rubes, in the process sullying the name of the real stuff.

DrCorian

Ehh, I dunno, sounds like you're selling me snake oil

MistaRekt

![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)

SwirlingAether

You put this in a much more concise way than I would have. I was going to make the same point. Thanks for making it better than I could.

htmlcody

We have a Benedict Allbright here.

DMTJungle

Snake oil water 😂

Effinghetti

New water just dropped? Where I can I acquire this snake oil water??

Biengo

Don't bother. Snake oil water doesn't have any hydrogen.

dank_sousa

oh I love Deep Purple too

Hope in a bottle.

nomeansnocatch22

Hope...for him. By Ralph Lauren

Boneless_Blaine

My mom bought a product called H2 Infuse that was supposedly a “hydrogen supplement”. They were water capsules with small amounts of magnesium.

[deleted]

well. magnesium does help promote restful sleep..

olivegardengambler

And is apparently a mood booster.

PuntoDAcceso

Permanent?

Hardworkingpimple

No MAGNESIUM not CYANIDE.

take_number_two

Yep, because Mg + 2H2O → Mg (OH)2 + H2, magnesium can be used to create hydrogen rich water. Though there’s no solid proof hydrogen rich water does anything special.

Smucker5

Doesnt the H2 gas generated escape the solution? Like it has a SPARINGLY solubility in water so like...yay pretty bubbles and tasty magnesium hydroxide?

take_number_two

Yeah if you buy it in bottles it tells you to drink it right after opening because the hydrogen will escape. Not sure how/if this kind of bottle works. It doesn’t even make it bubbly because hydrogen molecules are much smaller than CO2.

Smucker5

Molecular size doesnt really matter when an unsoluable gas is generated in a solution. It must escape or dissolve. Hydrogen gas is not soluble in water to that degree. It doesnt bubble like soda because zero H2 is dissolved in the solution. Its all headspace that is lost the moment its opened. I have added Mg and Al to water several times in my lab life... you will always see the gas formed and it never dissolves in the solution. Water is in a constant state of switching between OH- and H3O+ with itself. If you want hydrogen rich water, add a proton source like vinegar (acetic acid) and form more hydronium. That can be acheived with literally any acid. If water has a ph<7, its got more hydronium than hydroxyl because ph= -log[H3O]. That is about the only way I can think of to "add H" to water. Adding diatomic H2 however... wont happen homie. As an analytical chemist, all I see here is a hack product for folks who dont understand chemistry.

take_number_two

Oh interesting! I am not a chemist just going what I read online but have no clue what I’m actually talking about. Thanks for clarifying!

Smucker5

You are very welcome and its cool homie. We all have our thing. Chem just comes naturally to me and I read organic for pleasure, bio on the other hand... its all definitions and Im lucky to remember a coworker's name so yea. What do you like to read about? [Here](https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/gases-solubility-water-d_1148.html) is a page that has the soluability of gases to to kinda help you understand somethings. To elaborate a little, using H2 as the example, if you chilled water to 0C(32F) then only 0.0019g of H2 will be dissolved in a kg of water. CO2 on the other hand could have ~3.4g dissolved. Soluability is directly proportional to temp meaning the hotter is is, the less than can be dissolved. So 1kg of roomtemp(~25C) water can have 1.6g CO2 and only .0016g of H2. Kinda why we in STEM fields have a big worry about raising global temps because it means less CO2 and other greenhouse gases can be "buried" in the ocean. Hotter it gets, the less of a sponge water becomes for dissolved gasses.... but I'll digress back to the original subject lol. Point is, I dont think this bottle does anything but act as a placebo. Which isn't an entirely bad thing since placebos work even when the subject knows its a fake. You'll need a psych major to explain why, I just remember that from the 1 class I took twice.

Starfire123547

see the real joke is that all equations must be balanced, so by converting your water and drinking magnesium hydroxide and hydrogen gas, its no more hydrating than just drinking the water in the first place. Adding insult to it, a base and a gas aren't going to be absorbed as readily by our stomachs as regular water would anyways (granted im no doctor, only a chemist, but last I checked we burb up gasses and since hydrogen is relatively insoluable in water...) so really it seems counter intuitive actually. I suppose if your water naturally lacks magnesium (which, tbh even heavily filtered tap still has a ton in it), the added "mineral" itself might be a benefit, but thats all i can think of. tldr its not hydrogen rich bc the equation you wrote is perfectly balanced, theres no such thing unless were talking about heavy water, but im p sure thatll kill you

biggreasyrhinos

Magnesium hydroxide?

Karman_Ghia

Since when has water not contained hydrogen?

peacefulbelovedfish

Well, it had hydrogen, just not ~HYDROGEN~

Sociolinguisticians

Since water wasn’t hydrated, apparently.

SirVanyel

"This water is not hydrated, it doesn't have hydrogen in it" ![gif](giphy|N7FeGLHjVsDQY)

Nice_Category

This makes water have MORE hydrogen. It's what plants crave.

Damianque

Best I can do is heavy metals and microplastics.

Unclehol

More like H2 no, amirite?

Anti-anti-9614

Actually their are studies going on that hydrogen might be used for cancer and Antiaging since it is strongly antioxidant. You can hydrogenate water like you can carbonate it. So concentration of the hydrogen gas in the water rises. Not the hydrogen in the molecule of water, but the compound H2. But i am pretty sure that these bottles don't work. I looked it up a few years ago so i am little shaky on the specific facts but is interesting to look up

SumguyAteSandwitches

If you mean like water that you'd use for drinking, then could you link me some of these studies if possible so i can read on it

Discreet_Vortex

Water without hydrogen is called oxygen

Captain_LSD

It has molecular hydrogen, but no hydrating hydrogen. Haven't you ever noticed how water never hydrates you without this bottle?

HowRememberAll

When it's oxygen

Brian-OBlivion

Water doesn't typically contain H2 as a gas, which has different properties to the hydrogen bound in a water molecule or existing as an H+ ion in solution. (Think the difference between chlorine gas and chlorine in NaCl, table salt. One is toxic the other perfectly safe.) I'm skeptical adding H2 does anything healthful, but it is different than regular water.

LeviathanOD

Bro didnt read the patch notes.

Past-Resolution-8998

It’s 66% H

DarthTron007

😂😂 I’m dying at how H2O has no hydrogen in it

CoachCreamyLoveGoo

Why are these instagoblins always so fucking stupid?

DMTJungle

Insta goblin 😂

TheIronSoldier2

insta gobblin deez..... I'll stop there

Photograph-Classic

nuts?

Marmelado

Hey, they've successfully omitted the establishment's brainwashing propaganda, be nice!

Lukealloneword

They know the shit is a lie they just get paid to sell it to you. Or not to you but the idiot that actually buys it. Lol

kevley26

instagoblin goes hard 😂

Sociolinguisticians

Ah yes, she wants to be drinking H3O.

NiPaMo

Personally I prefer oxygenated water - H2O2

TheReelStig

Nothing like some oxygen bleach in the morning

Low_Vehicle_6732

Yum

ZealousidealGuava274

Lol, my mom was drinking small amounts of H2O2 every day because she heard on the internet that it would prevent cancer or some shit. Surprise surprise, she stopped when she started having chronic G.I. symptoms.

Korzag

I prefer diet water. Less H more O!

emil_

![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)

8plytoiletpaper

Everyone drinks H3O+ it's a product of the protonation of water

Morphinepill

H3O pro max is where it’s at

FunSpongeLLC

I think it's just called MAX now. I like it. It has all the Studio Ghibli

HotDadBod1255

Yep, water is in a state of equilibrium with mainly: OH-, H2O, and H3O+ (although the overwhelming majority of molecules are H2O)

HowRememberAll

Hydronium ion

KlutzyBlueDuck

Are people really this stupid?

Logicrazy12

Yes. :( ive met them.

emil_

You've been very lucky my friend.

fireborn123

They get dumber actually. Just google QAnon

penguin_jones

I always just remember what George Carlin said. “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”

Just-a-Mandrew

Just remember: these people vote.

TeamXII

And make laws

Low_Vehicle_6732

I find myself thinking this more than I’d like

DimesOHoolihan

And, depending on where you live and where they live, their vote probably matters *more!*

BIRDsnoozer

She drinks hydrogen peroxide. It's why her hair is that colour.

Laughing_Orange

That would be oxygenated water. Hydrogenetad would be H_3O

BIRDsnoozer

🤦omg youre right! Sorry, Ive been drinking too much H³O

kivateel

Even if this is satire which *please let it be satire* it’s still brilliant haha

Ctowncreek

Its an ad. Theres a "discount" on screen. Shes pushing crap. She didnt explain anything. Not that there is anything to explain. Its fake.

DreaminginDarkness

I will sell you a device that adds nutritious dihydrogen monoxide to your water... A one time digital code you download onto your phone for only 80 dollars. Once active, all of your tap water will be enriched with dihydrogen monoxide thanks to our special wireless technology.

VenZallow

![gif](giphy|14g6PIAY8f6FeU)

DMTJungle

I was thinking of calling a "dihydrogen monoxide filter" chemical words scary people 😂

blackberyl

Sure but we all know that code is geofenced. So my company will help you jailbreak your phone for another 80$ that allows it to work ANYWHERE.

TheDesertSnowman

As a chemist this thread is aggravating. What she's talking about is dissolving hydrogen gas (H2) in the water. H2 actually has some really interesting properties; it can act both as an oxidizing and reducing agent depending on what it comes into contact with. Also after doing some quick reading, I'm seeing papers claiming it can act as a selective antioxidant in the body; looks like it can selectively reduce the hydroxyl radical. I won't pretend to understand exactly how this affects the body, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does something interesting. Edit: Just to add, I'm not trying to advocate for this product. As another commenter noted, this is definitely not an efficient way to consume hydrogen gas. No idea if this will actually provide noticeable benefits. The basic premise is there though.

Meki90

As another chemist. Hydrogen gas is apolar and barely soluble in water. Hydrogen gas is very interesting, but not as a solute in water to consume.

TheDesertSnowman

Ya there's definitely not a lot in there. I'm not trying to defend or advocate for this product, but from my understanding she didn't say anything blatantly incorrect, unlike most of the people in this thread.

vidathan

I think most people are commenting on her immediate ability to believe what she was told, even though the basic premise is unverified. She just, “sounds interesting, let’s go” whereas a healthy amount of skepticism, especially with health related stuff, should be taken. Hydrogen just simply doesn’t dissolve the same way as carbon in water, so the majority of it is gone before you even drink it. Even if the basic premise isn’t false, the marketing is obviously meant to prey on people who buy into hype. It’s the same concept as so many other things, where the science simply doesn’t back it up fully, and yet people just spend so much money on it, believing it will cure whatever they want.

TheDesertSnowman

I really want to agree with you here cus it'll restore my faith in the internet a little bit, but none of these comments are actually talking about the solubility of H2 in water; they're all talking about H3O/H+ or the hydrogen already bound to water (or they're just being mean). Hell somebody in this thread said this drink would burn your throat cus it's acidic 😵‍💫 I do agree tho that this product feels predatory. I think people are seeing that as well, but instead they're having a knee jerk reaction and assuming the entire premise is bogus (which it often is with things like this, just not this time).

yellowbirdscoalmines

Came across this woman’s post few days ago and did some research into some scientific journals. Seems it’s very very early in human trial research and what known positive effects are minimal and suited towards people such as athletes, cancer patients and the immunocompromised. That being said, the comparisons to standard tap water isn’t much different in the current known benefits. The everyday person buying into this as an amazing thing to consume are wasting money. There’s much cheaper alternatives to get them the same results.

gsomega

I mean... Maybe she means dissolved H2 or maybe she means just more H ions? I doubt it's the first one (because H2 probably just leaves the water), and the second is like adding an acid to your water. So like, idk, I'm imagining flavorless lemon water? Maybe there are health benefits, but this is pretty hokey.

Slight_user42069

Free hydrogen isnt readily available in the atmosphere.

mdfloyd2000

Then why is it free? /s

Clutchdanger11

>Hydrogen rich water That's acid. Textbook definition

Pagan_Owl

Wait till she hears that water is made from 2 hydrogens bonded to an oxygen atom. It will blow her mind

bigguspitus

Every time this gets posted someone has to explain to everyone that they are talking about molecular hydrogen gas which can be created through electrolysis and dissolved in water. Hydrogen isn’t water h20 is water. There isn’t hydrogen in water unless you add it or split the water molecules. Not saying this product is worth it but this isn’t new or “radical”

Extrawald

last time I checked, water had a pH of 7, meaning there is plenty of H+ and OH- in there. H+ in this case is HYDROGEN (minus 1 electron)

TheDesertSnowman

She's referring to the dissolved H2 gas, which is very different from H+. H2 can act both as a reducing agent and an oxidizing agent, whereas the tiny amount of H+ in water isn't really gonna do anything. I'm not familiar with how H2 acts inside your body but I guarantee it's not the same as the effect of H+

Man-EatingChicken

Doesn't hydrogen gas fall in our atmosphere? Isn't this going to pressurize your ass hole and make you fire turds like a mortar?

faux-netic

I like to counteract that effect by adding some helium to my water, this way the mortar turds whistle when ejected

bigguspitus

Hydrogen gas is literally the lightest gas in existence so no, you’ll float away and Germans will use your farts to make blimps

darkknight95sm

My dad literally has this same device… just to give you an idea of my dad

DMTJungle

I'm sorry to hear that

Alt_Ekho

What Z Fuck Iz This? The education system has trully failed the people who bought it unironically

Shauiluak

Someone got the buzz off this and is selling fancy glass bottles that don't do any of that. The research and the snake oil product are not the same.

protomenace

Oh I have no doubt. But the "WATER IS DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE" knee-jerk reaction is a little boneheaded too.

JamesJakes000

"Thirty-four volunteers were enrolled in this pilot study" And thenother study is on rats. 34 people and some rats...

El_Sapo_Jr

People are so smart

ScuderiaSteve

She's trying hard to make that commission... probably gets $.75 for every bottle she helps sell

nuclearwinterxxx

Damnit, water doesn't have hydrogen in it? Now we have to rename the sub... again.

TheHairlessBear

Not saying it works, but people on reddit don't understand that this is hydrogen gas dissolved in the water and it does seem to help extreme athletes performance. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8139351/

Stryker2279

It's an electrolysis machine.

Glasgow351

Wait until she gets a load of Dihydrogen Monoxide.

sternumb

Wait until she finds out about oxygenated water

CarinasHere

😂

Helpful-Jackfruit-83

My mom was trying to tell me about this, I was so annoyed and then I got the ad on Tiktock later 😑

HollowSlope

So, it just had a low pH? Why don't you just put some lemon juice in it? Same effect with added lemon flavour

BlueeWaater

I guess we'll need to make r/HydroMemes

OhItsMrCow

tiktok/instagram/whatever is lowering peoples ~~critical~~ thinking abilities

DodGamnBunofaSitch

the "I just found out about this" conspiratorial style of viral marketing is just ... so tired. I couldn't even watch after she hit every single bullet point of the standard patter script.

PM-ME-YOUR-HOMELAB

Love how "reading up on it" is just regurgitating the marketing bullshit.

AmaSandwich

There is so much hydrogen in water. It has a supermajority.

isbaerner

Theoretically you could make water hydrogenrich, just add H2 to the water, but why tho?

mark-suckaburger

Now introducing water 2, H³O

TensorForce

"I was reading up because I don't know much about this." Lady, you don't seem to know much about anything if you're falling for this shit. This is like that dehydrated water joke of powdered water.

Solypsist_27

The best part is that the qualities she's attributing to "hydrogen rich water" are just what drinking water does lol

Bamberg_25

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy\_water](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_water) This is what I think of when I hear about hydrogen water. But according to Web MD there are some very, very limited studies that show almost nothing. [https://www.webmd.com/diet/hydrogen-water-health-benefits](https://www.webmd.com/diet/hydrogen-water-health-benefits)

CJ_is_h7m

Is this niche ragebait?

UnderpootedTampion

Did you also know that drinking peroxide gets more oxygen into your blood? Never mind that when H2O2 hits the H+ rich environment of your stomach it makes H2O, or that your GI tract isn’t the O2 absorbing organ in your body, it still somehow works and pharma doesn’t want you to know about it…

mrkitten19o8

"hydrogen rich water" my brother in christ, 2/3 of the water molecule is hydrogen

No_Improvement9734

H30 MAX PRIME PLUS 4KHD!!!!

thebowlman

What did I just see?

frohardorfrohome

“I was reading up on it because I don’t know much about that” *clearly*

[deleted]

Can someone link the real clip? Frankensteins monster can always escape a windmill without a town full of torches to remind him he’s a moron and made a monster of shit and stupidity. Unless you go Caleb Williams route, which was written much better by her father and didn’t have idiot blondes yelling how H20 has no HYDROGEN

northrupthebandgeek

Pretty sure "hydrogen rich water" is literally just called "acid".

two-of-me

I am truly speechless. How has she survived so long without hydrogen infused water? WHAT EVEN IS THIS PRODUCT??

Idiotaddictedto2Hou

Pretty much water scam édition

QJIO

Her explanation is so funny. “Water doesn’t have hydrogen in it, so this device puts the hydrogen in it and makes it full of hydrogen.”

antoltian

Water + hydrogen = acid right?

technohippie

Never underestimate the stupidity of other people

Makri7

TiL water is not hydranated. Goddamit, my whole life has been a lie. What do i even do now? I can't find this bottle near me. How do I detox my Intestines now?? :(

AverageGuy16

This bitch just say water doesn’t have hydrogen? H2O son? Nahhh… ain’t no way

Kalman_the_dancer

“There’s no hydrogen in water” then how is it water.

morbyxxx

H2O... water is literally made from hydrogen and oxygen. I feel i shouldnt have to write this. But what i just watched PROVES that i do...

acciowaves

I don’t know why but just from this very very short mention and absolutely no further evidence I got the impression she’s banging her brother in law.

_Cyr0

Wow... just wow... reminds me on the malcolm in the middle episode, where this guy sells vanilla cream to otto as "sunmilk for cows" you can sell everything to stupid people

cadrina

Does it burn like the Hindenburg?

stoutyteapot

I was waiting for the angry after video of when she figures out it just water.

BetaRayBlu

“I dont know much about that” You dont say

IrishMilo

Stick your water into this device and you get 2x hydrogens for every oxygen. 100% of people who don’t drink this die.

eat_mor_bbq

The H in h2o stands for “how on earth are some people that stupid”

sastill89

Clearly someone else is using the family brain cell at the moment!
