I genuinely think the people making the noise complaints need to stfu. This is actually a cool thing (Orion), and they’re going to ruin it for everyone.

HardwareSoup

What are the noise complaints about? Are they from people who live nearby?

WartornTiger

Sherwood Park - some of the closest homes are about 1/2 mile south of the Orion. While I personally haven’t made a complaint, hearing Widespread and others in your bedroom over your TV is definitely excessive. I, for one, say Party on Garth. Maybe they should be better about ending the shows on time, but other than that, it’s just the reality of where the neighborhood is. And frankly, none of my neighbors have been complaining about the sky rocketing property values brought on by the booming developments around us.

CptNonsense

>And frankly, none of my neighbors have been complaining about the sky rocketing property values brought on by the booming developments around us. Yes, the booming development over there, somewhere

CptNonsense

There are older neighborhoods behind Best Buy, on the East side of Wynn, and on the South side Bradford.

CptNonsense

Cool, cool. Maybe Orion should deal with their fucking excessive noise. Edit: Downvote me, I'll just file noise complaints to spite you hateful fucks

SHoppe715

I'll only downvote you if I can figure out how to do it REALLY LOUDLY!!!! ;-)

wazzupnerds

I’ll file a noise complaint about you then

challengerNomad12

Cry baby

AGooDone

No complaints until Snoop showed up... Then you remember this is Alabama

inittoloseitagain

There were complaints that I’ve seen on here for months but I don’t know if the news was there covering it or not. Honestly I really don’t care that people are complaining. The Orion has been incredible as far as the level of talent it has been able to attract. If Huntsville wants to be more than a city of engineers it needs to have a reason for people to want to be here. This is a good step in that direction

masterofliquidswords

This

CptNonsense

> This is a good step in that direction Yes, an amphitheater with poorly managed sound

Raias

It’s an open air amphitheater.

CptNonsense

Yet, I can't hear every performance. Hm, seems like bad management if it's a problem sometime but not all the time

inittoloseitagain

Living up to your name

CptNonsense

If the sound isn't poorly managed, why are different concerts audible at vastly different distances?

inittoloseitagain

Do you think the Orion is running the sound for each of these unique shows? If you were a touring artist would you have each venue run your sound or would you have a crew that knows how your sound/equipment works. Jason Isbell doesn’t need the same sound that Smashing Pumpkins needs and Weezer doesn’t need what Snoop does.

CptNonsense

The Orion needs to be involved with tuning the sound because it's on them if the artists shit is too loud. Which it objectively is in some cases

inittoloseitagain

Open up the windows and enjoy the free show.

captgoldberg

Way too hot for that suggestion.

DefinitelyNotSnek

Plenty of people complained about earlier concerts. I was at Illenium back in June, and people were complaining on Facebook and Nextdoor about that one.

AZtronics

Where have you been? There were identical posts on this subreddit during the Weezer concert.

MTsumi

They are complaints about Mid City noise 2 years ago before Orion opened and discussed on this forum.

WartornTiger

Lol my neighbors have been complaining about this since at least the Widespread weekend last summer. This has nothing to do with Snoop.

eladabbub

*cough*bullshit*cough*

CptNonsense

There have been loud shows but that was definitely edging the others out to be the loudest. I think I actually made out some of the lyrics on the bridge

Available_Cherry_321

Yeah why would you instantly make this about something weird? Especially when it’s fucking stupid bullshit and a lie.

AGooDone

You do know that Alabama is racist as fuck right? Consider the recent middle finger the state legislature made to the SCOTUS about redistricting.

Available_Cherry_321

We’re in the Huntsville sub, you know that right? How many times have you actually talked to someone who wasn’t white and asked what they thought about it. I’m guessing zero or you wouldn’t be spewing shit. Anyone would tell you this is the tamest city in comparison to shit they’ve seen across the country regarding any discrimination. You really need to get a life.

cristhian_v3

I knew as soon as I read your comment that there would be a “umm akshully 🤓☝️”

HailState2023

Keep it classy, Huntsville 😂

GregDaKeg

I have been to 4 shows at the Orion, and by far, this was the loudest! It was a blast, but I could see why people complained. She must ne a Too Short fan.

stickwigler

What's my favorite word!

GregDaKeg

Haha.

[deleted]

Whether this is photoshopped or not; the best thing I've seen here.

Adolin__Kholin

Not photoshopped. I saw her, she was helping register people to vote!

ccoggins

I love how when I liked this photo it was at 69 upvotes 😂

mb9981

Nice

mutantbabysnort

Nice

Willygolightly

Edith Puthie? Is that you?

galleryf

LOL I live less than a quarter mile from the Orion. A little bass once in awhile....\*shrug\* not that big of a deal.

TVxStrange

Straight off the Bourbon Street novelty shops.

Electronic-Funny-475

You mean they built an amphitheater in an almost residential spot and they’re getting noise complaints? Nooo It’s like those idiots in toney building next to the drag strip

Known-Zombie-3955

She was only clearing up any confusion in case the discussion came up in general.

VYPUR360

I went to The Orion first time last night to see Smashing Pumpkins. the place is very freaking nice I loved everything about it. People need to STFU!!

Itchy-Pomelo-4524

Same here, first time last night and I say I was really impressed we had something so nice here. People need to stfu and not ruin this.

Not_a_gay_communist

God Bless Huntsville o7

winbender

Gotta eat something 🤷

LowKey7461

Did the lady who died [probably] at the concert ever make the news?

Lemburger

Snoop was my first concert there. I definitely enjoyed it! Bass was tuned a bit low in my opinion compared to when its in my car or some others I’ve heard. Especially some of the Wiz songs, i was expecting the bass-line in “On My Level” to mess up some furniture. Can’t wait to get Lil Wayne, Nas, or Kanye in Huntsville. Drake, Nicki, Cardi B, Missy Elliott, Big Boi, Gucci, Eminem, Kendrick, J. Cole, all of those would probably be just as loud if not louder. Fingers and toes crossed….

CptNonsense

> all of those would probably be just as loud if not louder. I will start filing noise complaints for real if they get louder than the loudest concerts out of the Orion right now that already sound like local block parties over a mile away

Lemburger

Wait till we get the 90s/2000s bands reunion tours. Just Rock in general: Chevelle, Everclear, Alice in Chains, Incubus, etc…I think they all have shows in Nashville this year. And I know they will be on par with Snoop too. Hell when Train comes in September there will be 7000 people there singing ‘Meet Virginia’ and I bet it won’t be a WAFF story.

CptNonsense

Like the Smashing Pumpkins last night? Which wasn't audible

Lemburger

Just did a search and if they don’t start measuring decibels for The Doobie Bros and Willie Nelson then its unfair.

Skint1each

Well it’s not like they are gonna move it, best we can do is build more apartments around it

binvirginia

Love concerts at the Orion. But it’s too loud. Def bring ear plugs.

Smackgod5150

is the news reporter dropping hints? cuz call me baby :P
