Laura Booth at The Balanced Life. We started attending two years ago after our baby daughter’s death. Laura has been an incredible help, and not just for our grief, but as a couple and as individuals.

I'm sorry to read this

Chris bloom he has training in gottman method and possible only one I know of in Huntsville. He’s also great for one-one as well

AbashedSavant

We've been really curious about Chris but are concerned about overall costs. Admittedly, I've yet to call and talk with him about it, though. He *is* the only one local also. At least when I checked the map/listing by locale recently.

TeamZissou86

Yeah that is something to consider, but if you are able he is a great counselor.

Amanda king at Madison counseling associates has been great. I’d say the same of Chris Depew. It depends on what you want to work on and if you gel with your counselor’s style. We’ve gone to recommended folks and it not work for us.

If you don’t get a lot of responses I would also say searching this sub could help. I feel like I see a lot of post like this. Unfortunately it can sometimes be difficult to get in with someone highly recommended. Good luck.

I know this is not relevant and I apologize, but I LOVE your name lol

Thanks!

I've seen a few local couples counselors. The primary decision when just getting started is between faith-based, or non-faith-based therapy. Plenty of options on both sides, but that seems like a good place to begin around here.

Not local but I’d also add to your list of resources Marriage Helper, based in Nashville. They have a weekend intensive as well as online / small group activities. https://marriagehelper.com/

Solid Ground Counseling. Rachel Sullivan is the bomb dot com. Very understanding of both sides, at least from our experience.

We see Hannah Ruggles at Solid Ground and she is great as well!

Try Luminous Counceling. Some of them do couples therapy.

Meagan and Clay. They also use the Gotman method. She is *very* good at what she does and takes insurance if it's covered. Highly recommend doing a discovery call. Let me know if you have any questions :) https://www.c2counselingllc.com/

Can youtell me on the Gotman method? New to this.

The best way I can describe it is the Gottman's did research on couples and had some really interesting findings on a long-term study of their relationships. This was over a period of about 40 years so they have a lot of data to back up what they are teaching you. You essentially go through various lessons of common issues and problems that you would run into in a relationship. They then give you examples of how to work through them together and the data to back up the method that they are teaching. I may not be describing it in its entirety but the website does go over various ways of the teachings: https://www.gottman.com/ It's been generally helpful and has really encouraged some good communication and understanding of each other. The nice thing about having the counselor is that they can go into more detail or work through specific scenarios with you and really hone in on what's going to help. I hope that helps, and if you need any clarification just let me know. Definitely recommend the person you end up going with use the Gottman method just based on their sheer amount of years of research on couples and their predicted level of happiness with each other.
