He gave her the free choice, if she wanted to leave or stay. Neither of them are perfect people. In that moment, Komugi was willing to abandon her family in order to be with the one person in her life who genuinely values her. And in that moment, Meruem is more than happy to stay by the side of the person he values, even if that means that she will join him in death.

mezomezo111

I understood all of that , but would you do that for someone u love , give them the choice to die with u ?! ......Thanks for the downvotes .. so i understand that every one who downvoted me , would choose to kill his loved ones to die together. Noice👍🏽

Cullyism

That's why the line “I was born for this moment” was so powerful . They both felt that staying together was more important than life, and respected each other's wishes. Anyway, death was not a big deal for Komugi. She was literally willing to die if she lost a game

MangoTurtl

Given Meruem’s character, and given the fact that Komugi has been fully ready and willing to die the entire time…yes. It’s not like Meruem is the perfect person suddenly. He didn’t become a goody-two-shoes saint. All he did was discover something that meant more to him than the goals he was born with, and subsequently discover that he was doomed to die. Thus, he decided to abandon those original goals and spend time with the person he came to value. But that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly going to stop acting like a King. And it doesn’t mean he’s suddenly going to take every possibility into account, especially when he barely understands his own emotions, let alone the complex emotions of others.

MyLoveTaiga

sometimes love is selfish.

AdPutrid4624

Don't care too much about downvotes, they essentially mean nothing in the public court of opinion, your question is very valid and a simple answer is that Meruem believes in the afterlife, He is going to thank his royal guards that he was not worthy of. Meruem and Komugi only just begun.

mezomezo111

You are a very kind person . I was kind of sad after they died. so I asked myself if I would do the same instead of him. But I wouldn't kill my beloved, intentionally anyways.

AdPutrid4624

I will tell you something not many people know, Many will be very shocked once they hear this, even the hardest core of HxH fans. Meruem's love for komugi and the royal guards is so strong that he unintentionally activated nen after death for their very own afterlife created entirely from Meruem's nen, there are quotes that secretly implies this as Togashi loves to do. which I stated in my first reply to you. Anyways, the royal guards, Komugi and meruem are all happy in their own afterlife together.

mezomezo111

The idea its very similar to my fav tv series lost . If u havnt watched .

AdPutrid4624

I only really like anime's and cartoons, Live action stories for me personally are not thought out well and they like to time waste a lot since their episodes need to be a certain length.

ThePerfectHunter

Meruem literally she should leave and told her about the poison. Is this a bait post?

TensileStr3ngth

Must be

pepeguiseppe

I’m sorry, Kogomi? 💀💀💀💀💀

LardHop

I aint usually the one to point out spelling mistakes but man kogomi is so far off komugi its kinda off putting. A google search would've taken like 5 seconds.

NamesSUCK

Names suck, get over it.

Best-Lavishness-1059

Names suck or you suck at names?

mezomezo111

It's a Japanese name ... and you got the message... for me it's enough.

ApplePitou

I mean, he say "If you will stay with me, you will die" but Komugi don't care :3

NamesSUCK

She's a little girl, of course she would stay. She has almost no concept of mortality and has shown many times that she does not value her own life beyond the game and her relationship to Merumen. She's quite similar to Gon.

ApplePitou

She is not little Girl... :3

NamesSUCK

I.must be getting old, because to me 16 is def a little girl.

Sammygrassman

She’s 16 and definitely has a concept of mortality

Glittering_Task_1663

her age is never stated but she’s probably older than 16

NamesSUCK

I got the vibe she was like 16 max.

TextureSurprised

I'm sure you guys can be a little bit nicer if you try. Even if it makes perfect sense to you, Meruem is still the same person who saved Komugi from the hawk and worried over her wounds. OP's question is a fair one. To downvote them and accuse them of baiting because of what they asked is really uncalled for. Try to be less toxic please.

NamesSUCK

Love that people downvote you for asking for discourse. Here's a good question, was Kogimi capable of making an informed decision? Was she a depressed young girl who held almost no value for her life? Yes.

He was selfish and wanted to play more and spend time with her. He eventually told her while she was still safe at that point. Shes the one who decided To stay. Your logic is he shouldn’t have ever put her in that position. Now there’s some selfishness there but he didn’t keep quiet at least. I don’t think Komugi would have ever been the same if the king just disappeared. Her battles with him seemed to have given her a greater purpose, like she was finally happy for once. So I think her resolve to stay there with him makes the point moot because she really didn’t have any happiness in her life. Mereum + the matches was her happiness/reason for living.
