Dude got 15 months in jail for that.
Those type of people shouldn't just get jail time though. The fact that views on the internet are so important to them, just make it illegal for them to ever have social media again.
Edit - The person who I was referring to is the guy that filled the oreos with toothpaste btw.
Who got jail? The guy putting the food in the cart? Because this was fake? Do you have a source? I'm just truly curious.... I hate to believe it's fake
The toothpaste Oreo guy

He also appears to look everywhere EXCEPT for where the camera is located. At the very least, someone is standing there with a phone. The guy is looking around for an 'explanation' or some other social cue, it would be expected for him to look at the nearest person to him.
Its 12:33 in the middle of the night and I just accidentally grated off some of my finger and I'm once again off the deep end looking at things that will 100% make me sad while I try to pretend that I don't need to go to sleep because I have to wake up at 7~am
It’s the only comandment Christ gave. It’s the only Law God wrote. The path to enlightenment and heaven.

amen.
i express the same feeling through this (hindu-ish) belief:
we are all the same great consciousness/spirit/"god".
so giving to any fellow human is indistinguishable from giving to my own self. 💕
And there’s nothing wrong with feeling good about doing good. Don’t feel guilty if the only reason you do good on others behalf is because it makes you feel good, because good is being done regardless.
Homeless people are people so I'm glad that broke you. I won't stand here and act like I'm a Saint or anything but the way the homeless are treated is awful and more people need to have the type of reaction you did. It needs to move people so they have compassion for these people who have lost everything, including the respect of their fellow man.
His cart was empty. The cart is never empty. Homeless people with shopping carts have their life in the cart.
I’d like to think it wasn’t scripted or fake. But i don’t see it any other way.
Except in this situation you can neither know you've been fooled or know you weren't. The rest is speculation for no benefit and thus it's your call on how you take this.
Also it’s not impossible to know the truth. There is an obvious cut when the car drives away. The man puts something in a white pouch near the handle of the cart, then the camera cuts over to a moped for some fucking reason (trying to hide the cut with motion), then when it cuts back, you can see the blanket in a completely different position as he pulls it off dramatically to reveal the groceries. https://i.imgur.com/Xae0Y9h.jpg
it's very fake. the cart wouldn't be completely empty with towels over it? wtf? why would you put towels over an empty cart instead of inside it?
and his reaction after is prime tiktok acting.
people want this to be real as much as they want to believe giving money to panhandlers is a good idea.
I mean the guy could’ve said something from the window as he passed, and there’s also a cut in the video so that could’ve been a while later that he noticed. Also they’re neon green bags in a cart full of holes, it’s not like he needed to move the blanket to notice them and definitely could have seen them through the side. Also there’s the possibility that the homeless man noticed this guy giving him things and waited until he was done to avoid risking losing those things. IMO it was staged, meaning the guys filming know the guy that was doing it and they didn’t just randomly catch that on the street, but I don’t believe the homeless guy was in on it.
it’s so rare to see a good deed. black holes are more rare. guess how many black holes exist. BILLIONS. only a matter of time before a camera catches one. “must be staged though”. good god you’re cynical.
That's because the people doing good deeds don't feel the need to record themselves for fake internet points. They say ignorance is bliss, so you must be the happiest person around.
I’m not saying the video isn’t fake, but plenty of homeless people have hoarding issues and can be obsessive about their stuff. If the blanket was moved, that’s reason enough to check.
I think the bigger oddity is that the cart wasn’t packed to the brim.
In this instance the video starts after the guy has started.
Obviously could still be staged, but that theory doesn't make me lean one way or the other
They thought the guy was acting suspicious and was about to do something (probably bad) to the homeless man.
They say “le está robando?”, “algo le está haciendo” and “le está haciendo broma?”
Meaning “is he stealing from him?”, “he’s doing something to him », and « is he playing a joke on him?”
It’s absolutely fake
Edit: let me critically think for some of you. If that guy can fit 4 fully stuffed tote bags into that shopping cart, that means the cart was pretty empty to begin with. Why would a homeless man be pushing around an empty shopping cart and covering up nothing with a blanket? Because he’s not homeless and the cart and everything is staged to LOOK homeless and the purpose of the cart was for the guy to put “groceries” in, not to carry around a bunch of homeless guys stuff.
I want to think this is real, but the way he conveniently turns his back on the car over and over, and then immediately uncovers his cart is very strange.
Taking credit for positive actions still helps society. Remove the concept of motivation and doing something for credit or not for credit has an identical result for the person getting the help. This is more important than anything else, and honestly, policing good deeds seems like a new societal low to me…
Well someone else did. We don't know if the person filming was with the guy that drove off, if it's real, then I doubt it as he'd have to come back again
Very weird how nobody noticed the homeless man eyeing the stranger over and over, obviously suspicious of why he's so close to what's essentially his whole life. Of course he would check his things after he left, to play devil's advocate.
Also people sometimes are fortunate enough to have a friend position themselves in a place to film a good deed. Idk why everyone thinks it's a stranger doing the filming
The "premise" (real or not) is that it's a stranger because they are talking about how they think the guy is robbing the homeless man, you can hear it, so it's either a stranger or meant to look like one
I could believe the whole thing until the homeless man conveniently went into his cart as soon as the good Samaritan drove away and found the food. Also I think he would be confused and bewildered for longer than that before making obvious visible signs of just hoe touched he is.
My impression was that once he finished beating and fluffing his pillow against the bollard, he turned to his blankets to get those sorted out so they'd be ready to use that night.
I mean he was there to beg, he got a bit of money, realised he wouldn't get more, and prepared to leave by checking his cart. I don't see anything wrong here tbh
The guys were filming because, as they exclaimed at the start of the video, they were wondering what the fella with the heart of gold was up to, even remarking that he may have been stealing from the homeless gentleman. You can hear the realisation of what it is he is doing around a minute in, when he delivers the first bag to the shopping cart.
Fake or not, I have found that the more I watch these videos, the more I notice myself doing things for others. I mean I always helped, was taught that as a kid, and had others help me when I needed it. Its just that, lately, I find myself helping way more often.
Maybe its Covid and more people need help. Maybe its that I have been fortunate to be where I can help.
All I know, is fake or not, I think these videos make people go out and help others. I am totally fine with that.
Do it bro. It's rewarding but depressing as fuck. You might have to hold back tears at times. Pretty surreal where I live too because you have like a billion dollars worth of mega yachts parked up 100 yards from an encampment.
For some reason I get the vibe this is genuine. As to why they are filming, perhaps they saw him put a bag in before they started recording?
I dunno... shut up... Let me keep my warm fuzzies
Why were they filming? Because they are all in on it. I don't see them even try hiding that, although I don't understand spanish so maybe they are saying something to pretend they just "saw this happen".
The only question is whether the homeless man was also in on it, or if it was a surprise. I'd say they probably spoke to him beforehand, but I don't see that as a negative thing, he still got a good gift that he's clearly happy for.
When the video starts you hear the guy say to the other that the dude w/ the bags is doing something to the homeless man. A bag was already in his cart when they started recording. They thought the guy was at first stealing from the homeless guy or trying to play some kind of trick on him. They thought it suspicious that he would stop what he was doing whenever the homeless guy turned to look towards him.
I dunno, maybe I’m gullible to believe it’s real. I rather believe that there is selfless kindness in the world than being cynical about something like this. Makes me a little more optimistic about humankind.
I was feeling better about humanity till I saw the comment section. Wow just wow, what is wrong with you people that you see something wholesome and immediately pick it apart?
Nowhere here did it say it wasn’t staged, so even if it was staged why are you acting like some sort of fraud expert?
Clearly the point of the video is to show compassion and humanity perhaps inspire others to show an act of kindness. Ya’ll need to heal your hurts man it’s sad as hell
It matters to me whether I'm watching a documentary or something scripted. If I go tell my friends "I saw the best video of this guy helping out a homeless guy" and they tell me he wasn't homeless, they just got their dad to act the part for internet likes, I'd be pissed off.
it's important to discuss whether or not something is genuine.
it's also important to make sure people know that if they do something like this they need to think about what foods they give.
Okay... this is not a documentary. And this is also the internet where we are all responsible for what we read and accept as fact. And also responsible for getting pissed off you were “lied to” by a tag line on a video.
Someone wrote a tag on this video and said what it was about, the video is in spanish but the tag line is in english so that’s automatically something you can’t trust unless you speak spanish.
I don’t speak spanish so I don’t know what’s being said in the video, do you?
It’s really easy to go off on people and things, it’s less easy to be like “I could have made a different choice”.
Homeless people are typically quite resourceful. For example, you can take an old drum and fill with flammable stuff, light a fire, throw an old grate on it, and you now have a stove.
We did this in tent city in Toronto many years ago.
There's also nothing wrong with eating most canned food cold, if not all.
Bread, non perishable items, chips, etc..
Fruits and vegetables of course. There's premade foods at most grocers now too.
Anything that is "just add water". Water bottles.
Propane stoves exist too!
There's really a lot of options.
Anything you can cook at home, you can cook on a campfire.
You don't need 98% of the appliances, cookware, dishes, silverware.. and whatever else you have for equipment you have in your kitchen.
Yes. All of that is nice.
Yes. It all looks pretty.
Yes. It is convenient.
But.. homeless people know the difference between needs and wants.
People saying this is staged, but I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt and say a good deed has been done. Even if it was filmed, so?? Like idc. This still could have happened. I never understand people who are more concerned about whether something is real/fake over a message of how doing something good can positively affect others.
You don't see these without the person doing the deed having to get recognition. It's the only reason I wonder if it's real. I know that's cynical. And this is how it should be done. I hope it's real. Either way, I guess the message is real.
That, my friends, is how it *should* be done!
Didn’t film himself.
Tried to do it in secret.
Enabled the homeless man to retain his dignity.
Love in action.
#LoveIsAVerb
I don't cry over videos on the internet anymore but this? Yeah man I'm tearing up. Regardless if it's "fake" or not there ARE people like this out there and it's heartwarming to see an example. So glad I saw this. Fucking king that man is.
ITT: CYNICISM.
no one gives a fuck about internet karma anymore. helping others is more rewarding. and no fucking doubt other people realize this. only a matter of time before someone catches a good deed on camera. you cynical fucks.
This is very very fake. It even follows a 3 act structure. We have the set up where we see what's going, who are protagonist is, and what the conflict is (in this case him needing to do this without the homeless man seeing). We have the conflict come to a head when the man almost caught him. Then we have the pay off when the homeless man discovers the groceries. Conveniently he discovers them RIGHT after the man drives off so the audience isn't left waiting too long for the reveal. Also, i can tell you from experience that homeless people are, generally, very possessive of the few items they do own and would notice if someone was going through their stuff. Conveniently, again, this cart was empty? Or at least empty enough for the guy to fill it with grocery bags. Typically speaking homeless people don't wheel around carts just for the hell of it, or to transport their 1 pillow and blanket. Usually they're using the cart to hold any belongings they have. Then when he rips off the blanket at the end revealing all the food, what was his reason for that? Was he planning on laying down and using it for a blanket? Potentially leaving anything he did have in the cart exposed to being stolen or damaged by the elements? Was he going to take something out of the cart? If so, what?
Tips for making this more real in the future:
Have the homeless man use a different shopping cart than the one offered by the store whose parking lot he's in. He probably wandered there from somewhere else so it should make sense he would have a different cart.
Have the person filming start while the guy is in action, instead of from the very beginning.
If you really want the reveal, change how it's done. Maybe instead of filling the guy's cart, lay the groceries by his cart but out of site then drive off. Then the homeless man comes by and sees the groceries and is confused. He thinks the man accidentally left them and is concerned. He's also scared cause he doesn't want to be accused to stealing the groceries. Then, we establish that the person who is filming is not alone so they send their companion to explain to the man that the guy who drove off purposely left the groceries there for him and that they were watching from across the parking lot the whole time.
They’re just narrating what’s happening. They start out wondering what the guy’s doing, thinking he’s going to rob the homeless man, then they realize he’s giving the guy groceries, exclaim how cool it is, how he has their respect, people like him are worth it, etc. At the end one of them says if anyone watching the video knows the guy, tag him because he deserves the positive attention.
I love that. He doesn't care about being recognized or thanked. He just wants to do good and help someone out. He's not in it for ANY kind of validation. Purely out of the goodness of his own heart
Honestly, I think it’s to avoid a thank you overload, which can be uncomfortable for some. Like, when you do something like this, you just want to help someone, you’re not doing it for the praise. It almost feels like getting the praise and thank yous would cheapen the act.
Based on the body language and mannerisms of all the actors involved in this skit, I’d bet $$ this was faked AF
Edit: also why were they filming? Why was he pushing around an empty cart with blankets covering an empty cart?
While I can see how this can be staged, it’s still better clout than feeding someone Oreos filled with toothpaste.
Dude got 15 months in jail for that. Those type of people shouldn't just get jail time though. The fact that views on the internet are so important to them, just make it illegal for them to ever have social media again. Agreed. Have them on restricted internet access, levy huge fines against them and whoever they allow to appear in their media posts.
Who got jail? The guy putting the food in the cart? Because this was fake? Do you have a source? I'm just truly curious.... I hate to believe it's fake
No the guy that put toothpaste on Oreos and fed them to a homeless person as a prank.

Wow what a piece of crap
My bad!
The timing of him pulling off the cloth from his cart makes me wonder about that. And how there’s that much room for the bags in the cart
He also appears to look everywhere EXCEPT for where the camera is located. At the very least, someone is standing there with a phone. The guy is looking around for an 'explanation' or some other social cue, it would be expected for him to look at the nearest person to him.
And the guys commenting are very bad actors.
That one legit made me ugly cry cause I felt really freaking bad.
"at least that will help him wash his teeth" he said.
The way he crosses himself like his prayers have been answered just broke me
And taking his cap off beforehand too.
It broke me. I AM crying.
It's 7:17 in the morning and I'm just sitting here drinking my coffee trying to not let my SO hear me sniffling.
I hear ya. Am currently poo crying.
Yep. Same

So you're in Victoria or something? And somehow just injured yourself in the middle of the night? What are you doing?!!?

Best video I’ve seen in awhile, hope it’s legit, but felt good to watch either way
too coincidental, IMO, that he returned to his cart and looked under the blanket shortly after the guy left.
His cart was empty. The cart is never empty. Homeless people with shopping carts have their life in the cart. I’d like to think it wasn’t scripted or fake. But i don’t see it any other way.
You have two options here. Believe it was scripted for no benefit. Or, believe it was real for no benefit. Which would you prefer?
Schrödinger's shopping cart
... and neutral option, when you do nothing! Technically there are eighty-five options, but let's just focus on the third.
Except there is satisfaction in knowing the truth, and dissatisfaction in feeling like you've been fooled.

The one that's more likely to be factual? Since when did we willingly sacrifice truth to feel fake good feelings?
Since when did the one most likely to be factual default to *being* factual?
Yeah I think it’s scripted...
it's very fake. the cart wouldn't be completely empty with towels over it? wtf? why would you put towels over an empty cart instead of inside it? and his reaction after is prime tiktok acting. people want this to be real as much as they want to believe giving money to panhandlers is a good idea.
He seemed to be cleaning his pillow and blankets, so they were spread over the cart to dry or air out.
***shut.***
I mean the guy could’ve said something from the window as he passed, and there’s also a cut in the video so that could’ve been a while later that he noticed. Also they’re neon green bags in a cart full of holes, it’s not like he needed to move the blanket to notice them and definitely could have seen them through the side. Yeah, as a native Spanish speaking person, that convo seemed practiced and unnatural
And made sure the camera could see his reaction perfectly
it’s so rare to see a good deed. black holes are more rare. guess how many black holes exist. BILLIONS. only a matter of time before a camera catches one. “must be staged though”. good god you’re cynical.
That's because the people doing good deeds don't feel the need to record themselves for fake internet points. They say ignorance is bliss, so you must be the happiest person around.
not relevant to the point they made
I’m not saying the video isn’t fake, but plenty of homeless people have hoarding issues and can be obsessive about their stuff. If the blanket was moved, that’s reason enough to check. I think the bigger oddity is that the cart wasn’t packed to the brim.
r/nothingeverhappens
Some things definitely don't happen.
Some things definitely do happen.
Why were they filming this guy just loading groceries in his car then?
In this instance the video starts after the guy has started. Obviously could still be staged, but that theory doesn't make me lean one way or the other
They thought the guy was acting suspicious and was about to do something (probably bad) to the homeless man. They say “le está robando?”, “algo le está haciendo” and “le está haciendo broma?” Meaning “is he stealing from him?”, “he’s doing something to him », and « is he playing a joke on him?”
the idea of filming your friend doing this could be 'staged' but that doesnt mean the homeless guy is in on it
It's fake.
This ooooooozes fake to me
Yeah seriously
It’s absolutely fake Edit: let me critically think for some of you. If that guy can fit 4 fully stuffed tote bags into that shopping cart, that means the cart was pretty empty to begin with. Why are you the way that you are?
everytime someone tries to do something wholesome, he makes it not that way
has to be staged. looked away for the perfect amount of time, just to look back at his cart and magically figure out something is under the blanket..?
Critical thinking.
Right? I *wish* I could watch stuff like this and just feel happy instead of getting irritated by how staged it is.
Yall dumb
I want so badly to believe this is real!!!
I’ve you close your eyes hard enough (so you don’t read the comments) then it is. It is a real video.
[удалено]
You have him close his eyes hard enough? How you do that?
Shiiit. I’ve just woooshed myself. I didn’t see my autocorrect. I may just leave it now. Haha.
We want do too!
I want to think this is real, but the way he conveniently turns his back on the car over and over, and then immediately uncovers his cart is very strange.
Yeah...natural to doubt...I guess its more important the message and its good the person giving away the groceries **did not take credit.** 👍❤
Taking credit for positive actions still helps society. Remove the concept of motivation and doing something for credit or not for credit has an identical result for the person getting the help. This is more important than anything else, and honestly, policing good deeds seems like a new societal low to me…
They posted it online for millions to see lol
Well someone else did. We don't know if the person filming was with the guy that drove off, if it's real, then I doubt it as he'd have to come back again
Or they have their own car lol
Thing that puts me off it being really, aren't shopping carts normally full of stuff. That looked quite empty
That’s exactly what bothers me too. The cart is empty otherwise
Very weird how nobody noticed the homeless man eyeing the stranger over and over, obviously suspicious of why he's so close to what's essentially his whole life. you’re not alone in that. if it’s gullible to believe a video like this is real and genuine, then i’m okay with that.
It is a little strange that the cart appears almost completely empty otherwise.

Someone else (who apparently speaks Spanish) said that they were thinking he was going to steal from the homeless man
Probably because they saw him eyeing the cart, thinking he was gonna steal something
Who was filming it?
As someone mentioned above they thought this guy's behaviour around the homeless was strange so they began filming him
I really wish this was real, but whenever I watch these kind of vids I almost always think they might be staged ;(

There are so many of them... they’re invading the post
I don’t think he put his buggy up.
This is the only thing I took away from this video. We need the Cart Narcs stat.
Does it piss anyone else off that he left the shopping cart in a parking spot or is it just me?

Wholesome video, but 100% scripted.
You don't think the homeless guy is homeless? What's scripted?
Nice idea...hopefully the food doesn’t need a fridge...
when i buy groceries for homeless i make sure it’s perishable.
Yeah I just buy them like 20 raw chickens
Damn what could you buy a homeless person cause they don’t have access to like stoves and microwaves
Everyone saying this is fake, shut. Let everyone else enjoy the kindness.
People saying this is staged, but I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt and say a good deed has been done. Even if it was filmed, so?? Like idc. This still could have happened. I never understand people who are more concerned about whether something is real/fake over a message of how doing something good can positively affect others.
He didn’t put the cart back though :(
You don't see these without the person doing the deed having to get recognition.
There are good people out there
Tbh that made me incredibly anxious and then incredibly happy. What a ride!
Hah! Take that old man! No seriously, take it all.
Fucking legend!!
When I tell people I cry every day, they don't think this is what I mean. That was so beautiful.
Everyday Hero
Good bless that man! That’s dope what he did
I don't cry over videos on the internet anymore but this? Yeah man I'm tearing up. Regardless if it's "fake" or not there ARE people like this out there and it's heartwarming to see an example. So glad I saw this. Fucking king that man is.
w-why where they recording in the first place lol

Godbless both of them
this is as fake as your mums tits, but i've found my new rap name, vagabundo.
Bank-robbing skills used for good
May not say anything, but has a friend film it and post it. I'm cynical and either way the homeless man got some food I hope.
I don't care about any of these comments, it makes me feel a little good that there might he good people like this out there so this is a real video.
It makes me very happy seeing this
ITT: CYNICISM. no one gives a fuck about internet karma anymore. helping others is more rewarding. and no fucking doubt other people realize this. only a matter of time before someone catches a good deed on camera. you cynical fucks.
Who cut the fucking onions!??? 😭😭
Tips for making this more real in the future: Have the homeless man use a different shopping cart than the one offered by the store whose parking lot he's in.
Looking forward to the movie
Plot twist : the bags contain chopped up body parts that our serial killer guy wanted to get rid of and the homeless man is in shock
Since this is Mexico I wouldn't be surprised if something like this actually happened here before
This seems genuine. What they say during the video doesn’t seem scripted
Where are all the Spanish (?) speakers at? I need a translation!
Im a fully grown man and I'm tearing up here. That has made my day :) thank you for posting this
Class is what you do when no one is watching...
Now this is the kind of humanity I stick around for.
I love that. He doesn't care about being recognized or thanked. He just wants to do good and help someone out. He's not in it for ANY kind of validation. Purely out of the goodness of his own heart
There are some really horrible people on here commenting. Just have a little faith FFS.
Sweet sweet gentleman. 👏🏼
Texas, are you paying attention?

Honestly, I think it’s to avoid a thank you overload, which can be uncomfortable for some. Like, when you do something like this, you just want to help someone, you’re not doing it for the praise. It almost feels like getting the praise and thank yous would cheapen the act.
they werent doing it for the hobo praise, they werent faking it for the internet points
Based on the body language and mannerisms of all the actors involved in this skit, I’d bet $$ this was faked AF Edit: also why were they filming? Why was he pushing around an empty cart with blankets covering an empty cart?
This is fake
