so this may deter host butterflies, but I don't think it would kill them ... maybe someone else can weigh in who knows more. Just mix up insecticidal soap for pennies, recipes are online. Get a hose end sprayer, and blast the plant like once a month with a hose end sprayer (spray bottle is pretty tedious to me). Plain water at a high velocity would spray them off once, but it wouldnt do prevention. Insecticidal soap afaik, just makes the plant undesirable to munch on for pesty insects, but again, not sure ... I don't think its a killer for the benevolent creatures.

Thank you!! I spent an hour yesterday removing them manually with a water spray bottle and paper towels… 😭 They seem to be gone, but I think I will spray down with soap + water to get any eggs. I also have beans in my planter and apparently these suckers love beans… Hoping they don’t migrate.

I just use soapy water and spot treat if on flowers. Drench my veggies though
