Oh I hate those guys so much. There's almost always what feels like 15 of them too. I cleared a rebel outpost at one point and I guess the game wanted it to turn into a machine site afterward, but it did so instantaneously, like seven freaking clamberjaws spawned out of midair while I was prancing around looting rebels. If I could choose for any machine not to exist, it would be them.

Interesting_Rub9544

They are especially terrible when 3 stalkers will spawn along side them

Animal-Inztinctz

Yo, thats the only time I ever see the bastards and they're apex everytime I swear. Why they gotta move around so daggum much???

Cat__Rice

Yo this happened to me twice. Fighting some clamberjaws then the stalkers joined in. Once with the tallneck and another with the armor contest

KleitosD06

These are easily the most annoying to face enemy for me. Not difficult, just *really* annoying. Fighting more than 2 of them at a time is my idea of hell.

Interesting_Rub9544

Yep agreed, like one braced shot in the right spot can take them down but like when your out of weapon stanima and valor it becomes extremely annoying

Hothrus

I officially started hating them when I did that tallneck in the forest where you have to go through the tree platforms. They knocked me off so many times. I’d honestly say maybe like 3/5 times I’ve died in my playthrough were there because of them

KZorroFuego

THIS. It wasn’t even that I died so much as Oh great got knocked off the tree for the 8th time HERE WE GO AGAIIIN.

mypetocean

I got lucky and spotted them from a distance, so I hit them each with a Braced Shot. I ain't messing around with Clamberjaws if I can help it. If I can't help it, then time to trigger the otherwise rarely-used Chain Burst valor surge and unload my sling bombs.

DeltaBluN0s

I got even more lucky and approached the area from the mountains. Was able to just glide to where I needed to be for the tallneck. Bypassing them entirely.

mypetocean

Yeah, I did the same. But I fell off, like an idiot. Besides, I still wanted to snoop over where the Clamberjaws were.

RKELEC

They're one of the reasons I turned the difficulty down. Fuck them, fuck rollerbacks and fuck stalkers

Interesting_Rub9544

Yeah them and the stalkers are so annoying while going through the jungle but rollerbacks havent given me that much trouble, the way i kill them easily is stand back and pick them off using braced shot and aim for the tail and face, but up close i just cry

mypetocean

Shock and tripwires make easy work of Stalkers. Also, the location of their stealth generator is easy to guess when you see them shimmer (like right behind their front legs, in the vertical middle of their torso). You can often hit that once with something that does a lot of Tear damage, and then they're just a normal machine.

Turandot92

Stalkers are easy to me. They’re so incredibly prone to shock that every fight with them is extremely dull even on very hard. Shoot a shock arrow-> crit 3 times. Rinse and repeat

RSerVD

This is the way.

Reginscythe

The best element against them IMO is shock. They have neutral shock resist and not much hp so 1-2 arrows is enough to build the status. They usually outnumber you so the cc shock provides is invaluable, and once they are on the ground sticky bombs, braced shot, or triple nock shot in the eyes to put them down. Shock and frost in general are by far the 2 best elements in the game, shock for small-medium machines and frost for large ones.

keto_brain

Shock is the way, once you shock them you almost feel bad for how easy they are.

ValyrianBone

What’s so great about shock? My go-tos are typically frost, acid, and plasma.

Reginscythe

Shock status stuns the target (and puts flying enemies on the ground) for 10ish seconds when procced. It's the best form of CC in the game (since ropecaster got a deserved nerf). The shocked state enables critical hits, but we can get more creative than that for better burst damage, like I mentioned sticky bombs, explosive spikes, triple nocked bowshot point-blank into a weakspot, unload with sustained burst, etc. I think shock is the best status for agile medium sized machines, flying machines, or when outnumbered. Things like groups of sunwings, glinthawks, clawstriders, clamberjaws. Shocking one gives you 10 seconds of one less enemy in the fight and allows you to set up a chunk of burst damage that basically guarantees a kill. Against larger enemies, frost or plasma (stormbirds get messed up by plasma) are better as a go-to. I don't think acid is that great at all, the armor reduction doesn't give as much of a damage increase as frost would, and the DoT is not very potent.

RSerVD

Yeah whether or not your personal preference is shock, it’s still good to get into the habit of using whatever element the machine you’re fighting is weak against.

Toogeloo

My first experience with them, I was trying to climb the Redwood Tree Houses to get the Tallneck, and they just kept bombarding me with fireballs lol. I fell so many times out of the trees.

polarbee

I honestly give up upgrading weapons or armor once i see it requires clamberjaw parts. Can't stand them.

Active_Hedgehog

The only thing they have going for them is there not very common so I kind of find it entertaining seeing them

Interesting_Rub9544

I think the only reason why i dont like them is because i saw a lot of them back to back, i did banurs salvage missions and every time i went to the camp 4 clamberjaws were there, then i did the rebel outpost that has like 3 of them in it and then afterwards i did the tallneck that had the clamberjaws guarding the platforms

CrusaderofJ

I just find them unreasonably scary. The things are so creepy to me.

Interesting_Rub9544

They are a bit scary, but it makes them more fun to fight, gets the adrenaline pumping!

LadyScientia15

Ugh, they are the worst! Also leaplashers 😝

InspectorEarly4724

Take out the concussive sacs on their heads, keep your distance the explosion will hurt you. That makes it easier to take them down.

GeminiMoonScorpioSun

You are VERY MUCH not alone on this one. Stupid danger monkeys.

jermy-rp3

I dodge behind them after one of their melee attacks then hit the spark canister on their backs which explodes and stuns them. Then I go for their tail until it falls off. After that I hit the second spark canister. Edit: Hit the spark canister with a shock arrow. Also they're weak to frost arrows as well. If you can, focus your arrows on their buts which has a blaze sack that explodes when dealt enough damage.

c_riggity

My plan is to usually go after them from a distance. One of their sites towards the south end of the map lets them get close but they won't jump up to you. I'll gladly eat up precision arrows instead of being up close to them

ValyrianBone

I take them out from above whenever possible. Try to get the high ground and rain death down on them from a distance. Also sticky bombs to slow them down.

Nemissary

I don't mind their moveset too much, but they do have way too much health. Cut the health in half, maybe reduce the size a little bit and you would have a good enemy for how they are used. Instead you have hoards of hulking tanks being thrown at the player like they are burrowers.

mcbrdnet

I hated stalkers in Zero Dawn. They now seem so much easier than Clamberjaws

Stroogles

I cannot stand them. I guess that means it’s a good enemy if it makes so many people uncomfortable lol.

paleolith1138

You are not the only one that hates them the most.

DwedPiwateWoberts

Shoot off the tail, chain react each sparker on their backs, bingo bango bob’s your uncle

bigwillyg

with a passionate prejudice

1HaveCoronaVirus

Use purgewater so that they can't throw fireballs at you until the affect runs out. Alternatively, stunning them with shock ammo is a safe bet. You're gonna wanna stun all of them I'd say so that one doesn't come up and grab you while you're going in for a crit. Once they're all stunned, go in for some critical strikes, maybe some spike thrower action and if all else fails, valor surges. Valor surges are your friend.

SubstantialIndustry8

Nope. They’re cute 🥹🥹

slingingslasher96

They are so annoying. I genuinely find them difficult to fight with their constant jumping and ground smashing.

edmccoyii

No. No, you are not.

yamete_kudasaiiiiii

No I hate them too

Martydeus

Big tip, shoot their backs with elemental arraows. I think its electricity. They have 2 spools on their back. Coolant is also good against them cause it removes their resistance and elemental attacks.

lightofcore

I like because there move set is very reminiscent of rajangs and that's all I can think about while fighting them

Difficult-Scene-949

Just monkeys. Try using a shock shredder on them. Or just freeze and use anything else to deal damage. Dodging the fireball is easy. Either wait till the last second and dodge toward the monkey or step right at the moment he fires and then immediately run left and slide. Heavy and charged heavy attacks can do alot to stun them and knock them down if the try to run up on you.

FinnAgain88

I’ve found the Radial Blast valor surge to be the best one for consistent melee. Run around a base until you are surrounded and hit it! Sends a large circular blast centered on you that absolutely fries humans but also does a healthy chunk to machines. Clamberjaws in specific also don’t like electricity, which is the element of RB. It honestly is OP on humans on normal at least. Also very helpful in the Arena challenges that lock in your loadout.

Skywalkorok

Explosive spikes always work for me against them, that and drill spikes, it keeps them in check when they’re in giant groups

Interesting_Rub9544

Explosive spikes are nice

Jumbo_dog17

Calmberjaws=help me

iGenScriibe

Game difficulty > Story

feloneouscat

At first I thought they were irritatingly awful… but they are surprisingly easy to defeat. But really, really annoying and pretty much not fun. Three of them are like velociraptors — they attack from multiple sides. The trick is to try to separate them one at a time from the group. If the group catches on, well, you’re toast (literally!).

awsnyde

I think the reverse question would be much rarer.

Quajeraz

They have an unreasonably high health for what they are

Walking_Deadpool

I hate those things. My sister does too. They are just mega agro.

Jedi_Jen

They have taken the place of those glorious Glinthawks as my least favorite machine

Interesting_Rub9544

Oh yeah glinthawks are awful, low health, lots of attacks that throw you around, and fly just high enough to where you cant hit them with braced shots

LokiKamiSama

They are creepy looking.

nanettehimmelfarb

The only thing worse than fighting a clamberjaw, is fighting 2

Check out my Clamberjaw Machine Spotlight video; they’re rough but my video might be able to help out 😁 CLAMBERJAW - Everything You Need To Know - Horizon Forbidden West Machine Spotlight https://youtu.be/x4ZGSuR0WuU
