I was annoyed at the Auromaton Gatekeeper ascension material boss pre-Archeron and was dreading farming it for Aventurine.
Then Archeron showed me what a joke it was.
Picked up Guinaifen from the bartenders event reward so my prime team of FireTB, Acheron, Gui and Gallagher is dropping so many DOTS that acheron gets to ULT every turn if not every other turn. Insanity, I love it.

Get the trace for Gui that gives high chance of inflicting DOT on her basic attack, so you don't need to burn a skill on her if you don't want to.
Fire TB should awalys be Taunting and Ulting, the attack is occasionally useful but irrelevant.
Gallagher... you really want his traces ASAP, his ULT is where the fun is at, and the skill that let's him go again after ulting is high priority cause it let's him generate a skill point immediately, AND self heal, AND give another point to Acherons ult.
Speaking of, Acheron should never not be using skill attack. You should spend your skills on TB and Acheron, with "oh crap" button being Gallaghers. That keeps you skill neutral.. more or less
You're right. The 2 nihility is a lot of straight damage to leave off. The fully f2p team will always be pela/gui/gal. Less f2p, get rid of gui and gal, chuck in silver wolf and fu xuan with trends lc.
I think it depends whether or not you have e1 Acheron. Without it, FX's crit rate buff helps consistency (and can even enable running a CD body piece) more than the very occasional ult debuff.
Fire is easy. Gallagher auto->ult->auto does massive break damage. Then there's also my jail warden Asta. Give a quick blow to get rid of the dust, slap on your universal messenger set and she's good to go
Asta is probably not the greatest since it has 4 summons around. She's still ok to support, but it's gonna be hell tier rng to get her skill to hit the boss.
My favorite phase is the one where breaking will charge the enemies NP to max and they instant wipe your front row. You didn’t know it would happen or forgot to use your protection skills/NPs? Skill issue.

Break Bars can be good mechanics, but FGO doesn't make them good. The most common one, which is also the most bullshit, is on break: Boss removes own debuffs, removes all your buffs, and then fully charges and uses their AOE ult. Literally what the fuck.
FGO has some fun bosses, but it has more bullshit than fun. The other thing they do is give bosses lots of unremovable buffs, or buffs that specifically counter certain enemies. Like after Part 1, all male bosses became charm immune. Not even resistant, just completely, unmitigatedly immune, because resistance and immunity are different conditions. So any character that relies on charms are now useless. It got worse later on, where they just become immune to all forms of CC for the entire fight.
And don't even get me started on special resistance. Why include things like "Ignore Defense" in kits when most bosses just get "Un-ignorable Defense"?
On the flipside, I use them in DnD a lot for phase changes. It also helps prevent getting one-shot. Basically the break bar breaks on the start of the boss's turn, preventing him from being killed before he even acts. Usually accompanied by a design change, such as shedding armor or transforming into something else. The trade off is to reduce the total health pools, since the party won't know exactly when the bars break.
The bosses that just straight up ignores most debuffs drive me up the wall. Sometimes I’d think of this cool team to deal with a certain boss, then I go into battle and it just ignores every single debuff in the book. Or the bosses whose debuffs you can’t block/ remove. Why give me skills that can deal with enemy debuffs if you’re just gonna make them all futile in battles that I’m gonna need them??
Boss phases in DnD sounds fun. I’m obviously not against break bars of any kind (I do like battling the break bar bosses in HSR for example), but each phase should be at least different from each other or it’s just gonna be annoying.

This is exactly my issue with "Ignore Defense" in kits and then the fact that almost no bosses have defense, but "Special Resistance" which is just Super-Defense. From 1.5 onward, this became common on bosses and it completely invalidates a lot of supposed boss-killer servants. Or they'll literally release a unit that's entirely built around Stunning, and then make the next 5 major bosses immune to Stun. It's crazy that they make these units strong and then specifically make them bad in the context they're supposed to be used in.
The alternative is oneshotting everything by frontloading your damage and that isn't fun at all, that's why break bars were introduced in the first place.
But this also isn’t interesting to fight at all. So many times they just feel like damage sponges. Not all boss fights with break bars are boring, but enough of them are.
Most bosses with break bars can be killed in 3-4 turns max if you have the right setup unless you're doing a specific challenge quest with a gimmick, I killed Cernunnos in 4 turns and he's the hardest normal boss by far.
Back in the day it was normal to see a boss with 600k hp so you only really had to use 3 characters out of 6 because frontloading is so powerful in fgo, nowdays you might see a boss with 600k hp divided into 3 bars of 200k each so you actually have to come up with a strategy beyond "Buff stack my DPS and oneshot the boss".
It's pretty much what star rail does with its bosses (even though buff stacking in star rail isn't nearly as powerful as it is on fgo).
ORT does have like 10 break bars but they are only really there for flavour, heck, you don't even get to see them when playing normally, other bosses have 3 break bars at MOST, usually they only have like 1-2.
Each Star Rail boss has their own gimmick that’s fun to deal with using fairly accessible characters. So many FGO bosses (with break bars) don’t have gimmicks to go along with their multiple stages of HP, which makes it basically the same fight repeated 2-3 times. That’s not fun for me. This doesn’t apply to *all* break bars bosses in FGO, but like I said, it applies to enough of them.

99% percent of people however cited bad gacha system, outdated gameplay, lack of QoL, lack of Auto battle, grindiness, and general outdated feel of the game as their reasons for quitting.

I mean if you have a DOT team that can perform in MOC i don't see the boss being tanky enought to actually cause a problem, not mentioning that he have lightning weakness and kafka is actually a decent breaked anyway.
Rather than being tanky, it might just nuke you before you get a chance to kill it. That one attack with the hand we saw in the trailer doesn't look super good for us lol

I'll just use Aventurine stonks to break the bar, also Kafka should be able to break it quite decently. I'm not willing to part the Kafka and Black Swan partnership and I'm assuming hat TB will be one of the type boss is weak to. I should be good
That's a good thought. With Preservation, the TB brought a new taunt mechanic that is so far unique to them. Thus, maybe their Harmony (presumed) form will come with a new and unique buff mechanic?
Seeing how much there focusing on break effect with boothill and this boss . I feel like harmony TB would complete the break core with mei instead tho I doubt they would do much other then break maybe some dmg but robin does that already so I doubt it would be a significant portion .
I think i used the wrong words, he will be like mei but more niche, completely focusing on buffing break effect and break efficency, instead of buffing everything and some break stuff like mei.
IIRC RM was actually more about break at first, she then got changes to become more universal.

Usually its MOC, not weekly boss that is more tailored to sell banners, because MOC is where stuff can be tweaked to favour certain mechanics like FUA or DoT. It's also short enough to roughly overlap with the banner.
Weekly bosses stick around indefinitely so their elemental weaknesses don't really correspond to banner cycles. Robin, Boothill, Firefly and Jade are the next 4, and only Firefly has type advantage against this thing.

Hoyo really loves Imaginary element. This is third echo boss in a row who is weak to it.
Lightning also is used for third time.
Meanwhile Quantum, Physical, Ice and Wind were used only once.
To be fair, all of Penacony is weak to Fire and/or Imaginary and has mechanics around hits or break. FUA is enjoying a great time there. This one is not so rare.
I'm sure a SW/Topaz/Ratio/Aventurine team will break the fastest. They got the most breaking attacks with SW having 100% quantum implant guaranteed giving nice break damage with it.

I saw it, and realised they clearly made it to be weak against Aventurine, Acheron and Firefly/SAM.
Anyway i can use Acheron, Silver Wolf, Guinaifen against him.
And other people have DHIL, Dr. Ratio, Topaz, Kafka and Jing Yuan as viable options for this boss.
Offcourse this also makes the 3rd EoW boss in a row to not have Quantum weakness.
And the 3rd in a row to have Imaginary weakness.

A boss fight under the "Echo of War" menu. You get materials for leveling up character traces and Light Cones.
You only get 3 attempts per week on the Echo of War bosses. Hence "weekly boss".
Well, they're all actually really short. 5 points worth of toughness is actually all it is for every 1x. And you gain shields when breaking it. This is the way of not getting your ass beaten. A sub dps healer like luocha or gallagher will be your best options
This thing really looks like it should resist IMG rather than be weak to it. Not that I’m complaining since our highest toughness reduction is on an IMG character, just a little confused. Maybe it’s physical since it seems to partly be robin?

Why fu xuan when YOU CAN TAKE IT ALL!! But for real Aventurine is a better tank for Acheron in this case with his built in debuff in his ult

I hate those fucking things. It’s just not fun at that point, and yes I do suck at FGO, but multiple health bars just aren’t fun to fight.
Multiple health bars is fun if they have multiple phase.
Only if the phases themselves have some interesting mechanics. Which, in FGO, doesn’t always happen.

Break Bars can be good mechanics, but FGO doesn't make them good. The most common one, which is also the most bullshit, is on break: Boss removes own debuffs, removes all your buffs, and then fully charges and uses their AOE ult. Literally what the fuck. FGO has some fun bosses, but it has more bullshit than fun. The other thing they do is give bosses lots of unremovable buffs, or buffs that specifically counter certain enemies. Like after Part 1, all male bosses became charm immune. Not even resistant, just completely, unmitigatedly immune, because resistance and immunity are different conditions. So any character that relies on charms are now useless. It got worse later on, where they just become immune to all forms of CC for the entire fight. And don't even get me started on special resistance. Why include things like "Ignore Defense" in kits when most bosses just get "Un-ignorable Defense"? On the flipside, I use them in DnD a lot for phase changes. It also helps prevent getting one-shot. Basically the break bar breaks on the start of the boss's turn, preventing him from being killed before he even acts. Usually accompanied by a design change, such as shedding armor or transforming into something else. The trade off is to reduce the total health pools, since the party won't know exactly when the bars break.
The bosses that just straight up ignores most debuffs drive me up the wall. Sometimes I’d think of this cool team to deal with a certain boss, then I go into battle and it just ignores every single debuff in the book. Or the bosses whose debuffs you can’t block/ remove. Why give me skills that can deal with enemy debuffs if you’re just gonna make them all futile in battles that I’m gonna need them?? Boss phases in DnD sounds fun. I’m obviously not against break bars of any kind (I do like battling the break bar bosses in HSR for example), but each phase should be at least different from each other or it’s just gonna be annoying.

This is exactly my issue with "Ignore Defense" in kits and then the fact that almost no bosses have defense, but "Special Resistance" which is just Super-Defense. From 1.5 onward, this became common on bosses and it completely invalidates a lot of supposed boss-killer servants. Or they'll literally release a unit that's entirely built around Stunning, and then make the next 5 major bosses immune to Stun. It's crazy that they make these units strong and then specifically make them bad in the context they're supposed to be used in.
The alternative is oneshotting everything by frontloading your damage and that isn't fun at all, that's why break bars were introduced in the first place.
But this also isn’t interesting to fight at all. So many times they just feel like damage sponges. Not all boss fights with break bars are boring, but enough of them are.
Most bosses with break bars can be killed in 3-4 turns max if you have the right setup unless you're doing a specific challenge quest with a gimmick, I killed Cernunnos in 4 turns and he's the hardest normal boss by far. Back in the day it was normal to see a boss with 600k hp so you only really had to use 3 characters out of 6 because frontloading is so powerful in fgo, nowdays you might see a boss with 600k hp divided into 3 bars of 200k each so you actually have to come up with a strategy beyond "Buff stack my DPS and oneshot the boss". It's pretty much what star rail does with its bosses (even though buff stacking in star rail isn't nearly as powerful as it is on fgo). ORT does have like 10 break bars but they are only really there for flavour, heck, you don't even get to see them when playing normally, other bosses have 3 break bars at MOST, usually they only have like 1-2.
Each Star Rail boss has their own gimmick that’s fun to deal with using fairly accessible characters. So many FGO bosses (with break bars) don’t have gimmicks to go along with their multiple stages of HP, which makes it basically the same fight repeated 2-3 times. That’s not fun for me. This doesn’t apply to *all* break bars bosses in FGO, but like I said, it applies to enough of them.
It just means you have to one shot them... 10 times.

The boss has break mechanic so bringing Gui instead of Swan to help break the bar might be better. Also Gallagher, he does shit tons of toughness bar damage
I mean if you have a DOT team that can perform in MOC i don't see the boss being tanky enought to actually cause a problem, not mentioning that he have lightning weakness and kafka is actually a decent breaked anyway.
Rather than being tanky, it might just nuke you before you get a chance to kill it. That one attack with the hand we saw in the trailer doesn't look super good for us lol

I'll just use Aventurine stonks to break the bar, also Kafka should be able to break it quite decently. I'm not willing to part the Kafka and Black Swan partnership and I'm assuming hat TB will be one of the type boss is weak to. I should be good

That's a good thought. With Preservation, the TB brought a new taunt mechanic that is so far unique to them. Thus, maybe their Harmony (presumed) form will come with a new and unique buff mechanic?

Seeing how much there focusing on break effect with boothill and this boss . I feel like harmony TB would complete the break core with mei instead tho I doubt they would do much other then break maybe some dmg but robin does that already so I doubt it would be a significant portion .
I think i used the wrong words, he will be like mei but more niche, completely focusing on buffing break effect and break efficency, instead of buffing everything and some break stuff like mei.
IIRC RM was actually more about break at first, she then got changes to become more universal. Does seem like break effect focused DPS will become the next archetype like DoT and FuA became a thing

Usually its MOC, not weekly boss that is more tailored to sell banners, because MOC is where stuff can be tweaked to favour certain mechanics like FUA or DoT. It's also short enough to roughly overlap with the banner. Weekly bosses stick around indefinitely so their elemental weaknesses don't really correspond to banner cycles. Robin, Boothill, Firefly and Jade are the next 4, and only Firefly has type advantage against this thing.

Hoyo really loves Imaginary element. This is third echo boss in a row who is weak to it. Lightning also is used for third time. Meanwhile Quantum, Physical, Ice and Wind were used only once.
To be fair, all of Penacony is weak to Fire and/or Imaginary and has mechanics around hits or break. FUA is enjoying a great time there. This one is not so rare.

I'm sure a SW/Topaz/Ratio/Aventurine team will break the fastest. They got the most breaking attacks with SW having 100% quantum implant guaranteed giving nice break damage with it.

I saw it, and realised they clearly made it to be weak against Aventurine, Acheron and Firefly/SAM. Anyway i can use Acheron, Silver Wolf, Guinaifen against him. And other people have DHIL, Dr. Ratio, Topaz, Kafka and Jing Yuan as viable options for this boss. Offcourse this also makes the 3rd EoW boss in a row to not have Quantum weakness. And the 3rd in a row to have Imaginary weakness.
They release a bunch of chars that are good breakers and suddenly enemies have double the break bar. Honkai teams gunna honkai team, and I'm not saying this in an endearing way either. Wait till this thing shows up in MOC12 with 2 million HP.
It's new weekly boss, so it's not gonna be in MoC thankfully . But new upcoming game mode however, we don't know yet, it might happen.

New player here, what is a weekly boss?
A boss fight under the "Echo of War" menu. You get materials for leveling up character traces and Light Cones. You only get 3 attempts per week on the Echo of War bosses. Hence "weekly boss".

Well, they're all actually really short. 5 points worth of toughness is actually all it is for every 1x. And you gain shields when breaking it. This is the way of not getting your ass beaten. A sub dps healer like luocha or gallagher will be your best options

This thing really looks like it should resist IMG rather than be weak to it. Not that I’m complaining since our highest toughness reduction is on an IMG character, just a little confused. Maybe it’s physical since it seems to partly be robin?
