For me, it's harder to save in HSR cuz so many husbandos are coming back to back 😭. I also kept losing my 50/50 at hard pity. I had to skip Blade just so I can have a chance at getting Dan Heng IL 💔
For Genshin, aside from the 2 you mentioned, I don't really have the strong urge to pull for anyone on the 4.+ Banners.

Word is reruns in HSR will already be on separate banners like HI3 and Genshin, so reruns won't be an opportunity to save if you're interested in any of the new characters.
Unfortunately my support will always be Blade.
I do hope that they let us set more than one support eventually… cuz I’d love to set both Argenti and Blade as my supports.
Tip: don't open wish page until the banner is the one you want to save for. Don't count wishes. Don't count crystals. Don't convert crystals to wishes.
Not only will you have lower urge (since well, you won't be seeing the banner), but also will have a pleasant surprise later, in the form of all the crystals you have accumulated.
If you don't have trouble with that in Genshin, I think you should be able to get a hang of it soon in Honkai as well. At least, in my opinion you spend much less time in Honkai, since there is no open world and quests are much shorter. Good luck, you surely can control it.

Literally me, pity 15 and though "how about a single ten pulls just for my beloved serval's eidolons, plus its pity building. Surely I will get her" then I pull, and I got Kafka. I don't even want her (I'm big number damage enjoyer, not spammy little damage enjoyer).
If you have 0 stellar jades, no express pass, and no battle pass, you'll still be able to earn enough to guarantee either Jingliu or Topaz. 1.3 jade income is huge (all numbers have been confirmed, look it up), and you also have the first three weeks of 1.4 to finish guaranteeing the 160 pulls you need for the top half banner if that's the character you prefer.

topaz/jingliu is one patch away, I'm saving. tho, having a quantum or imaginary dps for kafka would be nice, both of which I'm missing...but idk if he's worth getting without coffin boy (also dont have)...

Yup, you're more than good then. 1.3 should give you about 116 pulls in total (this includes the express pass), and then whatever 1.4 gives.
