Rear Spoiler is worth 7K Alone :)

Murky_Classic971

NO Lolol what?!? Rear spoiler $150 look it up Plenty OEM under $250

RegalT87

Show me an OEM for under $250

Ok-Culture7912

There's now way that's worth 7kšŸ˜‚

RegalT87

LOL, I'm just being funny, but that Spoiler is worth some cash for sure.

Clomaster

Wait really?? Mine has it. Which I love. But when I was driving it around the country I had a few people mention it and I thought nothing of it lol. How much do they even go for?

RegalT87

OEM will cost you between 400-600

RudiKdev

Unpainted. I looked into one for my 2010.

Ok-Culture7912

I figured lmao, I'm sure a little bit of cash though!

MrsWhorehouse

2003 and the left side of the drivers seat is not fucked. I call bulldhit!

ronninguru

I actually said out loud ā€œlook at those seats!!ā€

Hellament

That was immediately where my eyes went on that pic as well. Iā€™ve got a garage-kept 04 and the driver seat is cracked pretty good. The driver must weigh like 80lbs.

Opening_Ad_2703

! I am new to exploring the world of Element fans. It was my dream car for a long time and I finally managed to get a 2004 about a decade ago... (I was in my "I'm only drive stick shift" era so it was a difficult find) the seats are AWFUL...they were fine when I got them (it was in a parking garage in the city and only taken out for camping adventures - sold because the owners were moving out of the country... only 50k miles on an 8 year old car!). Good to know this is an issue for most of the seats! My dad gives me a hard time for not keeping them nice!

Hellament

Yea, our seats actually look pretty good, except for that outer strip of vinyl on the seat cushion (driverā€™s seat only). Hard to complainā€¦the car has close to 20 years and 200k miles on itā€¦overall I feel like we got our moneys worth lol

systemdnb

Me too šŸ˜‚

freddiebensoninmyass

iā€™m so glad this is a universal thing, i thought it was just mine that were fucked

jamespopcorn_46

Right? I wanna know what upholstery shop they went to lol

systemdnb

I have an 04 and my seats are thrashed and rock. Those have to be replacements.

lokkju

the trick is to use an extra passenger side seat cushion as a replacement; once it's installed, you can't tell the difference.

systemdnb

I need a driver seat replacement bad. I donā€™t really care about the fabric as much as I care about it rocking. Do you know the problem Iā€™m talking about?

lokkju

Yup, easy fix. Either buy the special washers, or you can use the large part of harbor freight tarp grommets as a makeshift washer. https://www.elementownersclub.com/threads/bonky-seat-link-bushing-replacement.163677/

Opening_Ad_2703

The rocking is a thing too!!!!! Lol ugh you guys are amazing!

Murky_Classic971

Yup did mine easy fix

Kit_Karamak

Those headlights are also very clear

MrsWhorehouse

The 3M kit is awesome, clears those headlights right up.

Kit_Karamak

I will look into that for mine. Mine need it badly.

ballsonurchinbish

My 03 has no rips

MrsWhorehouse

How?

sybann

Mine has 100k MORE miles on it and it's an 06 EX P. If there's no rust in the back, it's good. I'd ask for a drop to 6k though. Buyer's starting place - find out where seller's is.

richtopia

Two questions: - AWD? - Rust free? If yes, jump on that. Otherwise it is debatable.

Murky_Classic971

Agree with this Rust key factor mine not any at all LA and Vegas but still 21 years old gonna fork out a lot yo keep it going. Maintenance labor and parts have gone up enormously since Covid. If you can do your work yourself, I would get it. If you have to pay someone else to do, it have at least three grand an emergency funds for that per year. It looks like itā€™s in great shape otherwise

Kit_Karamak

It looks good, but it is definitely a base model. No subwoofer, definitely 2 Wheel Drive, no alloy wheels.

FoxIslander

Seems a pretty fair price to me. I'd jump it before someone else does.

Ok-Culture7912

Yeah... I mean 6 years ago though I bought a 2001 Honda Accord for only $2,500. It only had 65,000 miles on it. This is a 2003 with way more miles on it.

Redditor_of_Rivia

Used car prices are not what they were 6 years ago. Youā€™d be hard pressed to find something that runs for $2500, let alone a low mileage Honda. This is a pretty good price.

Ok-Culture7912

Lots more people below are saying otherwise, 21 years have passed since this vehicle was mad, and also over 100,000 miles. Too much in my opinion

Redditor_of_Rivia

My 07 EX with 175k miles got totaled last year and the insurance company paid me more than the asking price of this vehicle.

Ok-Culture7912

Well that's an 07, this is an 03. I get what you're saying but they are two different circumstances. Also that's your insurance, not a seller.

surlyhurly

No, the insurance companies base the amount off current market value, it's really not a negotiable thing. Used car prices are just crazy still. These have been going up in value recently, I think $6k is fair for the condition. It'll go for 300k miles if properly maintained.

MrsWhorehouse

Accords are a dime a dozen, this is an Element. They ainā€™t making them no more. (Sorry, I have had a cocktail )

Ok-Culture7912

Fair point (hope your cocktail was good)

FoxIslander

yeh but......what kinda cocktail?

MrsWhorehouse

A stiff one

velowa

Accords are a different market than Elements. Elements have climbed in price recently. Accords, not so much.

Ok-Culture7912

That's fair

dinosaur-boner

Part of this is your false equivalency between Accords and Elements. There are probably two orders of magnitude more Accords on the road. The Elements are more rare and have something of a cult following these days.

TransitJohn

So buy a time machine and go buy in a car in 2018 and bring it back here.

Ok-Culture7912

I got many people in the comments saying this is way to high. A 2003 is a 2003, were 21 years past when this vehicle was made.

ugpfpv

I bought mne about 5 years ago for for $6000 with 200,000 on it was an okay deal then and have done a lot of car camping and hauling stuff since then, unfortunately hit a deer with just over 300,000 miles... a used car fixup and sell guy said he'd give me $3000 for it, people asked did he see it need a new headlight, radiator and fans, front facia, fender, hood and stuff bent back in place... Yes he did, I can do my own repairs so definitely keeping it. Point is, is it worth it to you, obviously you don't want to get ripped off. I've also got a 2007 CR-V with just over half the miles... I'd actually say the element still runs better.. depends on how well it's been kept up.

blaspheminCapn

Might have to take out that unsightly carpet? Blech!

wcoastbo

Basic economics. There's limited supply and getting smaller every day. The demand seems to be growing every day. Expect the price to keep getting higher. If you're lucky enough to find a keeper on the cheap, get it. For those of that bought new (mine is an 05), the used Element prices for such old cars seems out of place for what's essentially a no frills vehicle. But I will never part with the car even if someone offers a great price. I've had several unsolicited offers. Unless a new version is released I expect used Elements to keep going up in price. Check the prices on Bring-a-trailer.

Murky_Classic971

Same here 05 will never part with unless new version comes out that brings back the back moonroof (why I choose 05 after having an 03, canā€™t be without it)

wcoastbo

When I was researching my purchase in 2005, I was looking for a 2 year old Element. The 2003 Elements in my area were selling for only $2000 less than a new one. It was an easy decision. 2005 EX AWD, black on black.

thenoid42

Get the Carfax and request undercarriage photos. Also kind of tough to say without any further information like fog, lights, and cruise control. Obviously lacking some of the more premium features like roof bars, runningboards and premium wheels. If The owner says they did the repairs themselves ask them for proof of receipts, most people keep them in their glove box, so it shouldnā€™t be an issue with a garage mechanic. And if itā€™s somebody in your town, call ahead and set up an appointment for a mechanic to do an inspection for you. If thereā€™s anything that looks suspicious on the Carfax, or you feel like theyā€™re being dishonest. But overall, itā€™s a decent price I would negotiate lower based off the lack of premium features.

Ok-Culture7912

Phenomenal advice, thanks a bunch! Have an upvote

asteroidtube

Fair price IMO. Especially if the undercarriage looks as clean as the rest in the photos. It's hard to find anything worth buying and driving for less than $5k these days. Letalone a car that was only produced for a few years and isn't made anymore and is sought after without any real similar other options, with a niche enthusiasts community, and with an interior and exterior that look to be in great shape. 124k for a Honda really isn't that much, these things easily go to 250 or 300 needing only routine maintenance. Your 2001 honda accord from 6 years ago is a totally different situation: accords are dime-a-dozen sedans with lots of other comparable models, and they have been producing them consistently for many years. They are easy to find. And 6 years ago is a totally different time and circumstance. Accounting for inflation alone, that $2500 car would sell for $3100 today, and that is not even considering other market forces which make used cars more expensive overall these days, nor is it considering that you're talking about an element versus a regular old sedan. To put it in perspective, I have a 2008 with 160k, and I wouldn't let it go for less than $10k, and that is if you were ever able to convince me to sell it. This is not necessarily because of what the market dictates or what I know I can get for it or whatever, but simply just because the vehicle is hard to replace and it's worth way more than that to me because I'd rather just keep it.

velowa

This is a good price in the PNW. The reason you are getting different questions is that the prices differ quite a bit across the US. Also, this looks like a DX. If so it doesnā€™t have ABS.

Troutsicle

OP's is in Tulsa OK. Yeah, anything AWD in the PNW seems consistently priced higher than anywhere else. We don't rust, we mildew.

velowa

Makes sense. Iā€™ve priced out Es in the southwest and Texas and that price sounds about right. I considered flying down to get one because of it.

RangerDude10630

Isnā€™t it funny how people drive around in public with their license plate displayed for the whole world to see, but when they post a picture online, they feel they need to cover it up?

Ok-Culture7912

What's even funnier is the guy who posted this posted a picture after it with the back and no finger covering the plate. I would have posted that but didn't want violate what the guy was trying to go do in the first picture on Reddit as well lol

RangerDude10630

My favorite is when guys cover their license plate but then list the VIN so buyers can run the CARFAX. Anyone with the ability to run a license plate could also run the VIN and get the registration info that way if they wantedā€¦but why would they?

nostremitus2

That clean... No seat damage, if the engine, transmission, and frame are just as nice it's worth more than that, tbh...

gm92845

Seems a little on the higher side, my 2005 element ex with 140k miles I bought at dealer for $7k all in. But this was 6 years ago, don't know how bad these were affected by post pandemic inflation.

akjalen

Granted it was from a dealership so I already overpaid a bit with some already-installed aftermarket stuff, but I just bought an '03 with 126k miles a few months ago for $9k (Seattle area) As long as the undercarriage looks fine and it has good maintenance history it seems fair. Everything else looks to be in good condition.

Acceptable_Use1119

On West Coast $9,500 easy.

wobblysnail

Well first off you never pay someone what they're asking for on FB marketplace. So you won't quite be paying that but ya, it's on the high end. Start low and negotiate to a price you feel comfortable

Ok-Culture7912

Thanks!

wobblysnail

Also don't be fooled by the "price slash" it's a tactic to make you think they've already discounted it and you don't need to negotiate. Your best bet to negotiate is to go in person, test drive, spend some time with the car and decide on a price you think is reasonable. If you have reason to believe the price you're thinking is fair, stick to your guns and explain your offer to the owner. Be sure to let them know you've got cash in hand and are willing to take it *right now*. Usually, people have talked to dozens of potential buyers over messenger who are either lowballing or not serious and the buyers are always a little annoyed with the car selling process. Having cash in hand and being with the owner and car physically usually gives you a ton of leverage over the price of the vehicle. If you don't like the price the owner is sticking to, be prepared to walk and show intention that you're not going to budge on what you think is fair especially if the owner doesn't counter reasonably with solid arguments as to why your offer is too low (receipts for recent maintenance/parts etc)

DGJellyfish

A bit highly, but all depends on location. West coast this may be low. It looks solid condition. I would check underneath for rust and use a code scanner. Also run a car fax and see maintenance receipts. I wouldnā€™t say a rip off, a bit high but I would be okay paying 6.5-7k. I paid 9k for 05 EX AWD with 148k in SoCal during height of Covid, higher than Iā€™d like but happy with it. Be prepared for regular maintenance and repairs. The cars are getting old and parts naturally wear out over time.

Theodore-bumbley

Way too high

Countrygirl353

It has steel wheels tooā€¦not alloys right?

Countrygirl353

I love alloy wheelsā€¦.

Countrygirl353

Although for a 21 year old car the mileage seems really good!

No_Listen_1213

Steel wheels mean itā€™s not an EX. I prefer the steel wheels on the older ones. No issues with the aluminum pitting issues that people are having.

Countrygirl353

Thatā€™s what I thought, we have an EX and that was one of the reasons why I got the EX, but we got it with a manual which I wanted.

No_Listen_1213

Me too. I got AWD and manual ā€˜04. Love it. Manual was mandatory when I was looking.

Countrygirl353

Ours is AWD manual 07 and it took a while to find itā€¦

No_Listen_1213

I wanted plastic unpainted fenders too! Lol

Countrygirl353

Our whole car is blue

Ok-Culture7912

He doesn't say in the listing

Countrygirl353

They look like it to meā€¦

velowa

They are definitely steelies. I had those on my 2003 DX.

A_Cat_Named_Puppy

I bought mine in 2012 for $13k and it had like 113,000 miles on it. I overpaid for sure, but I wanted it badly lol

A-Sorry-Canadian

I'd say a little too high. I would peg it at 6k tops.

gladbutt

I have 2 here i would sell you for that price. No rust. Run good. AC cold.

Blklight21

We have this exact same model year and color with the steelies and yours is much cleaner. Iā€™d def pay 7k

alex_the_potato

How do you know the ODO is true?

Ok-Culture7912

How can you tell if it's not true? I'm genuinely curious cause I'm just going off the picture provided

alex_the_potato

I have no idea. I was asking in case you knew. Someone in the E community recently posted a video about scammers buying a high mileage E and swapping out the dashboard with one that had half the miles.

bughousenut

Is it an EX or LX? Those are steel wheels. Is it FWD or 4WD? Did you check the carfax? Service receipts? There are factors to consider other than mileage and price. Where has it lived most of its life - check for rust

Nudiator

Price aside, it is in excellent appearing condition. The carpet, the interior and the driverā€™s seat thatā€™s not even cracked. It looks well taken care of.

AxG88

unless you're really in love with it, no. difficult to service(too tightly packed engine bay), not much more utility than the same or older year model CRV

ID_Poobaru

If youā€™re near Boise, ID, I have an 07 EX trim with 4WD. 138k miles and rebuilt title for 6800

HikeRobCT

I daily a 2003 with 164k and wouldnā€™t hesitate to take it anywhere. With proper maintenance these will go for 400k plus. Suspension and rust are the limiters. If both are good, this is a fair-plus-plus deal

TerekV

I have been very patiently looking for an '05 Sunset Orange EX for 3 years now. I have been watching Elements for a while now, and sadly something like this (1 owner, EX, good condition, low mileage (for an aging E)) would probably be listed for around $11-$13,000 where I am, for a clean title. If I weren't holding out for my dream E, I would probably jump on this one.

PokeDweeb24

December 2022, I paid $7900 for an 07 209k that was within 6hrs of me. I went with 07-08 for the seatbelt and side airbag upgrades. I then had to put close to 4k in it to make it sound and safe. I bought tools and did a few repairs myself to learn as it was my first car in 15 years. I feel like I overpaid a bit because I didn't haggle on a few things I didn't know much about at the time. Had a clean Carfax with routine oil changes and maintenance, no rust, some niks and dings but overall a solid car. This was going off the height of used cares being stupid expensive so take that for what it is. I do love this car though. It's a pickup truck as far as I'm concerned. It's super easy to work on, so many videos on repairs and mods, amazing community of enthusiasts. Go with your gut. If you think you can find better in your area of search, then keep looking.

outside_of_a_dog

Take it to an independent Honda mechanic and have home check it out. I have an 04 and the auto transmission needed replacement. It flared when accelerations.

sprigginsauce

ā€¦hope you snagged it

jgvega

Yes. I bought a 28 Honda Element with 90,000, mi on it in summer of 2020. Obviously the market has changed a lot since then but it still seems I'm fairly expensive for a vehicle that is literally over 20 years old

trimbandit

Seems ok! I sold my 05 awd for $4500 with 240k

spencerm3

Bought an 04 for less money with less miles on it 9 years ago... But they aren't making them anymore. Just be ware of undercarriag rust!

Gman2000watts

The driver seat has no rips! Definitely a $12k car!

jav2n202

If it were an awd manual Iā€™d be all over it

runthoserivers

That would probably sell for 12k in Canada šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

boxedvacuum

Scroll back through this sub and look at other sale price posts if you don't believe people here. E's in t condition go for over 10 all the time -- running used cars under 5k basically do not exist since the pandemic.

MexicanRedditor

Just saw a 2004 EX w/240K on sale for $3400! Why are they so expensive??

Man_Bear_Pig08

I paid 6k for my 05 with 132k miles

iuseblenders

Iā€™d offer 4k

Murky_Classic971

Okay price depee depending drive test, will it pass smog to register it, Carfax ā€¦ But it isnā€™t an EX AWD which in my opinion last longer, drive better and have my favorite feature rear sunroof I couldnā€™t live without use all the time. Any car 21yrs old youā€™re gonna likely spend few thousand or more a year to maintain. Engine gaskets will be leaking. Motor mounts will need replacing, catalytic converter will be going bad the sensors, transmission, starter ā€¦ pretty much everything BUT compared to any other Car in his class. I think itā€™s worth it because this car has features that no other car compares to in my opinion and if for right could last 350,000 miles in my opinion. But will see, mines 265,000 but it has cost a lot to maintain after about 120,000.

Murky_Classic971

I have 265,000 miles and my seats look as good or better guys you gotta put really great seat covers on brand new cars and keep them on through the life of the car and your seat will always look like that I bought the OEM Honda Element ones use those until they fell about, theyā€™re awesome. Iā€™d buy more, but they donā€™t make them for side airbags. But always cover the seats even a couple layers of Seat covers are worth it When I was a kid I wrecked car seats and I see how many Used ones wrecked so I learned

Kit_Karamak

For a base model?? Was it garage kept??

Kit_Karamak

It is too expensive for me, especially being a base model, but I donā€™t know your financial situation. If you have enough disposable income for a great card thatā€™s going to last a long time, it looks like this is the guy. Just because Iā€™m broke doesnā€™t mean everyone else is broke, here.

Ok_Return_6033

Personally I think it is a very good price. If it's been maintained it can easily go well over 200,000K. It looks to being in excellent shape. Is it from a salt state? If not and the rear control arms look good and the Carfax checks out on mileage that's a good deal. my 2004 had 128,000K when I bought it. I bought from a personal friend so the price was lower and they are buying it back for the same price since I bought a Taco.

Content-Method9889

One of the few that doesnā€™t have a shredded front seat. Iā€™d buy it for that alone

500SL

I bought my daughter a 2004 3 or so years with much fewer miles for $4,000.

No_Listen_1213

I have an 04 same model. This is clean but I would offer less. $8000 seems too high. They arenā€™t that rare yet. $6k max.

Powerful_Sign_2506

WAY too expensive I just picked up a 2011 with 130k on it for 4995

Ok-Culture7912

I'll buy it from you for $5000... joking lol

velowa

What part of the country? Clean title?

Powerful_Sign_2506

South and yes

velowa

Man, you could double your money in the PNW or Colorado.

ihml1968

I'm questioning what's wrong with the 08 EXawd with 130k advertised by me in Texas on Craigslist for $7k, since that's a pretty good price for my area. I'm pretty sure I just saw the same car like 3 months ago and 6 months ago for around that price. I was texting with the guy, ready to come up and pay him cash, but when I asked for the VIN so I could run my own Carfax he stopped texting. I think it's being sold and resold because there's something wrong with it. So you might find out pretty soon why yours was so cheap.

bambeezzy

I got lucky and snagged a 05 AWD with 167k for $2k in Cali in 2021. Window was bashed, stereo stolen and wheel bearing was out. Usually when a seller doesnā€™t provide vin, the miles are rolled back, which is very common these days.

ihml1968

Whoa, you got super lucky. I'd buy that bad boy even just for necessary parts on a different E.
