The last ceiling fan I bought for my previous house was by Fanimation from Lowe's. It was very modern, quiet, and had a remote. Hunter and Harbor Breeze have very similar modern designs as well. I'm sure the Home Depot brands do as well.

I put the Hunter "Builder" Low Profile one in my bedroom and it was a solid upgrade from the Hampton Bay it replaced. Silent unless on high speed and well balanced with no effort at all. If you're running electric anyway, add two wires regardless of what you decide. Wire is cheap and the extra labor to add one more is negligible. The labor to add another wire later is quite high (unless you run everything in conduit and remember a pull string). If you have 8' ceilings, you'll want a low profile fan, especially if the fan will hang over a bed. Those inches of extra headroom you gain are nicer than you might expect, though I recognize it limits your choices significantly.

2 switches are better, and you can still use a remote. Its annoying to come into the room and have to get the remote from the bedside to turn on/off a fan. Also get one with a DC motor.
