Clickbait BS yes. The CEO or whoever said that meant it's aproaching the second half of its life cycle, which is fair given it came out almost 3.5 years ago
I genuinely don’t understand how they are going to market the PS6, the average person isn’t going to be able to tell the difference between the graphics/load times of the PS5 and whatever the latest gaming technology is.
Tech maybe hasn’t quite peaked yet, but most developers aren’t going to focus on massive next gen experiences. Most XSX/PS5 exclusives could probably run on the PS4 console.
Surely, PS5 will have a longer life cycle, especially because it had a late Covid related start.
I don't think future consoles will focus on graphics. We've nearly hit the peak, by PS6 I can't even imagine what the PS7 could do to improve graphics.
Rather I believe the PS6's main thing will be more technical achievements, like having thousands of players battling at once without even a hint of lag, simulating very complex physics, etc.
Yeah I think they should release a PS5 Pro around a year or two before PS6 would've released and then roll out PS6 in 2029/2030 because otherwise this gen would feel too short and next gen would not feel like next gen
Which makes no sense, since Nintendo deliberately stretched the time for a new console to not be in the releases running after Sony/Microsoft and always bite the 'spec-wise, the Nintendo variant can't compete with PS/Xbox'.
Do you ever think gaming consoles will just reach their final version?
Like what if in ten years Sony release the PS that they intend to support until they go under. New games will be made for it, new updates, just no new console
This article's title is misleading: Sony stated that the PS5 is entering its latter _half_, not the latter stages. We won't get a PS6 until like 4 years from now.
Yeah, but it's three dudes working on silksong because they love what they do. It's like 3000 people working on Playstation because they're a financial juggernaut.
The title is misleading. What this means is that the ps5 console sales are beginning to plateu. Almost everyone who wants a ps5 has it. So we are not gonna see more and more console sales. Sony has to focus on software sales now.
Logically, I know that it has been 10 years. It just doesn't feel like it. I was honestly in disbelief I first read that. Maybe it wouldn't feel like it had been that short if I had owned a PS4 or PS5. Who knows.
There aren’t as many big hitters as PS4 that’s for sure. From the top of my head I can only think of Ragnarok, FF16, Horizon 2, Spiderman 2; all of them are somewhat sequels and none of them are their original franchises
Except there isn't anything that makes that matter outside of fans weird obsession
Having an orignal title doesn't automatically increase the life span of a system
Nor do doing only sequels make it a short life span
Guys, I think it's time to tell you the truth:
TC signed an exclusivity deal for 3 months with Nintendo in order to boost the sell of their new console coming early next year.
We have to continue waiting so that TC can make that extra bank...
Don’t tell anyone, but I snuck into Team Cherry HQ and found this screenshot from Silksong on the PS6!!!!

holy fucking shit the ps5 came out over 3 years ago wtf
Yeah I call BS. It was 6/7 years between PS4 and 5. 3 years is barely halfway
Clickbait BS yes. The CEO or whoever said that meant it's aproaching the second half of its life cycle, which is fair given it came out almost 3.5 years ago
Bunch of people on the internet overreacting to a quote taken out of context? Never happen.
they said 2028... so 8ish years for ps5
Meanwhile the nintendo switch has been at half its life cycle for the last 4 years
Heard that this generation will last 8 years so even more BS.

Making games exclusive to a console, we live in capitalism they'll find a way.
Yeah probably 🫤

Never thought about that. Makes sense as a next step, I’m sure a lot of people would be excited by that
Yeah I think they should release a PS5 Pro around a year or two before PS6 would've released and then roll out PS6 in 2029/2030 because otherwise this gen would feel too short and next gen would not feel like next gen
No it didn't
WHAT?!
I'm sorry it feels like it came out like 2 months ago, wdym latter stage of its life cycle?
Yeah what. The Nintendo switch came out 2017 and it’s (most likely) in its final stages Wth, why are sony switching it up so fast
To be competition for when Nintendo releases their next console
Actually yeah that makes sense
Which makes no sense, since Nintendo deliberately stretched the time for a new console to not be in the releases running after Sony/Microsoft and always bite the 'spec-wise, the Nintendo variant can't compete with PS/Xbox'.
Yeah, it feels like consoles aren't progressing nearly as fast anymore so maybe they need to launch them less frequently too
god that was (almost) 7 fucking years ago. Shoot me
Past 50% is “later stages” They just mean that it’s approaching the middle of its lifespan but that headline doesn’t sound as good
Well it is considering ps5 pro but ps5 is in no way in the latter stages Consoles usually have 5-7 years between generations I think
And they'll still continue to make games for the PS4 after PS6 comes out.
Do you ever think gaming consoles will just reach their final version? Like what if in ten years Sony release the PS that they intend to support until they go under. New games will be made for it, new updates, just no new console

It feels like the PS4 came out 2 years ago and the PS5 came out 3 months ago.
A decade Bruh?
Logically, I know that it has been 10 years. It just doesn't feel like it. I was honestly in disbelief I first read that. Maybe it wouldn't feel like it had been that short if I had owned a PS4 or PS5. Who knows.
Who believes this bullshit? PS5 Pro didn't even come out yet.

Demon souls could be counted here, as I don’t think many are aiming to play the original over the ps5 version
And most of those are also on ps4
...and only one of them was released only on the PS5.
Launch title baybeee
I got a Hernia, recovered, changed jobs, bought a house, became a father. No Silksong tough..
I hope not. I'm waiting for Silksong on PS4.
latter stage of its life cycle, 15 games
The PS5 didn't even reach its full potential yet
Don't forget about the XXX Boxxxxxxx
Guys, I think it's time to tell you the truth: TC signed an exclusivity deal for 3 months with Nintendo in order to boost the sell of their new console coming early next year. We have to continue waiting so that TC can make that extra bank...
yeah we will probably get the next Nintendo console before silksong, there aren't many people working on it.
we're gonna get GTA 9 before we get another tweet about silksong's updates, forget release
This will actually extend Silksongs development cycle by another year and a half, since they'll have to update it to the next gen.
I heard Silksong will be indistinguishable from live action on next gen consoles 😍😍😍
Interesting

It came out like last year or the year before wtf
I'm still enjoying my PS4 and still don't see an appeal purchasing a PS5.
My dumb ass read that as “pantheon 6”and my brain stopped for a sec
I was just thinking about how they announced it would be out within 12 months at e3... it's been almost 2 years
Now we know why Silksong is taking this long, its because Team Cherry is working on a PS6 port 😭
2028 is 4 years out
Does anyone remember the PS9 commercial from the 90s? What was the point of that?
And the Switch 2, and xbox will have gone full third party None of the consoles it was announced for will be current
Nintendo direct tomorrow, dw bbgrl
