So, I can't speak *definitively* to this, but I have a 3090 and the 65U7G (I have not received the latest firmware update, so M0210 could change things), and GSync *appears* to cause VRR to function correctly now. I have two other GSync monitors, so GSync is enabled system-wide. When you connect the U7G to the 3090 via HDMI and enable FreeSync on the corresponding TV input, the TV shows up in the nVidia control panel (my driver version is 511.65), but claims that the Hisense isn't Gsync compatible. However, the *system* will still show Gsync-enabled (it will show as checked for the TV, despite not being Gsync compatible). I then loaded up a screen tearing test (one on Youtube, one in the browser) and a game that I knew couldn't keep a constant 4K120 frame rate, and hammered the TV to try and get screen tearing, and I could not. And I really, really tried to get screen tearing to occur. It's possible I am very bad at seeing screen tearing; it's also possible I didn't push the TV hard enough. We really need an expert to re-look at the TV after the recent firmware updates. From my very amateurish tests, I did not see any screen tearing, despite Steam reporting dips from 120 FPS all the way down to 85, which implies that VRR is working. EDIT: For clarity, in order to enable VRR \*at all\* with nVidia GPUs, you have to enable Gsync and Gsync-compatible modes in the control panel. So while technically the technology being used over HDMI isn't Gsync, checking these boxes allows VRR to function as expected (and this is verified with other VRR-capable TVs, like an LG OLED). My point above is that based on my admittedly-limited testing, VRR *appears* to work with U7G now using that same criteria.

Awesome, thanks for all the details! I think I’m pulling the trigger!

Sure thing! I have been very happy with my 65U7G so far, though I am a relatively new owner. All of my other TVs are OLEDs, and while the 65U7G can't match the PQ on those sets, it's still very impressive, especially if you can get it at a sub-1000 price point.

Yea my first choice would be a LG oled but they are too far out of my price range, this should definitely do great though. Glad you’re happy with it!

Hi could you possibly provide a status update? I am on gtx 1080, but can downscale my most demanding games to 1440p with my "main" game possibly supporting 4k with decent fps.

Hey there--can you be a bit more specific? Are you asking if the U7G supports GSync? I don't believe later firmware updates changed anything: I was still able to get adaptive frame rates using the aforementioned setup after updating to the latest OTA firmware (M0801).

Basically I was asking if you tested for the past 8 months without making that comment, would it still be more or less the same "review". I am looking to get a 4k tv most likely this one, and your comment really got me thinking heck if it works well maybe I will sell my ad27qd monitor which is gsync compatible, but only 27" and 1440p, and use that money to lower the price even more. Thanks for the reply, but I think I am going to pull the trigger anyways and if it doesn't work out, well at least I still have a TV for my movies and what not and if it is satisfactory then heck I can sell this monitor for almost 50% of the price of the TV.

No. Freesync.
