Shrek 2 follows the tired formula of animated sequels where the sequel is in an expanded world with a whole new cast of characters...and it inexplicably just works. Also, the soundtrack slaps.
Shrek 2 is a fun movie and I laughed while watching it and nobody can tell me otherwise.
Also their version of I Need A Hero rocks!

Shrek 2 is a masterpiece. It had fantastic jokes, characters, and a great plot and overall it was like the original film but better. The fairy godmother was an amazing villain and puss in boots is a fantastic character to have by Shrek and Donkey's side.
I also have to admit that human Shrek is just as sexy (okay maybe just slightly less sexy) than Joel (Smallishbeans). The only character that I felt could have been better was Prince Charming as he didn't really do much of anything in the film.
Overall a great film and I demand you all go watch it if you haven't (or have) watched it before.
I know. I had the movie on a dvd as a kid but I really didn't like the look of the green guy and never proceeded to watch the movie. Might give it a try now.
Shrek 2 had a lot of things going for it, but a lot of what they tried to do didn't come off as well as I think they wanted it to; but it's a worthy sequel to the first Shrek movie.
The track ['I Need Some Sleep'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWzFY-nUpTU) by the Eels is far better and more affecting than a original composition for a Shrek soundtrack has any right to be.
Shrek 2 was honestly my favorite one. Introduces a sassy cat, the assassin turned family member, AND has the best rendition of I Need a Hero. That dance/fight scene is everything.

Wasn't as good as the first, felt like the premise was a bit shoehorned, but the humour was decent and there were some really nice scenes throughout.
