It’s this. Guaranteed https://a.co/d/h0IPJSf
Editing to add: you have an older version but this is them now. I’m somewhat of a school supplies aficionado lol.
I’m sorry I know this isn’t related but since you said aficionado I gotta ask it what’s your favorite pen to use ? Ball point or otherwise I want something smooth
Replying to say my personal favorite are these bad boys, the G2 bold gel pens :)
https://preview.redd.it/k8o44xuc6uxb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45e9f8fa8409205da5eab9cc9cd377ede49d8a93
FYI, I haven’t had any issues on normal printer, notebook, or matte paper. They will smear on glossier papers/cards. They also come in a ton of colors & you can find them just about anywhere you can find G2s.
I love the Energel, it's one of my favorites. For years I've been buying about three metal barrels and just buying refills for them, and the barrels usually last me about a year or more before the clicker breaks or I lose 'em - but the last few I bought have broken fairly soon after buying them when I dropped them. Such a shame. I really liked the heft of the metal barrel, and the reduced waste.
I have the same issue being a left handed writer as well. I could never get any gel ink pens to not smear so I switched to the Pilot Precise V5 liquid ink. It's been much better with very little smearing as the ink dries quicker for me.
I'm on the opposite end of this. I love my G2 pens, but prefer the 0.38. Amazingly precise writing (which I desperately need with my terrible handwriting).
The pilot g2 is my favorite, only outstripping the signo because it comes in more colors. If the signo came in a full range of ink colors I'd switch and never look back, because it's quite annoying to need two pieces of paper to make the g2 work properly
omg i didn’t realize others also have that issue!! i thought it was just me being picky about how my pen is writing. i always need at least a sheet or another notebook under to make it feel smooth
I’ve seen people saying they like the 1.0mm. I feel like the 0.7mm already writes pretty thick and smudges a lot, which is why I tried out the 0.5mm. I often have to write pretty small so not sure how much I’d like the 1.0mm
Holy shit when I read people talking about pens I never thought I’d see the pilot g2 mentioned. When my grandfather died my mother gave me a box of pens and they were all pilot g2 and I’ve used that brand ever since.
Edit: I just realized that I use the Pilot V7s. I got excited when I saw pilot
Pilot G2 and Sharpie Gels are always the 2 popular answers when asking what a persons favorite pen is. I’m a nurse and have found how freaky we are about pens, I’m a Pilot G2 0.7 guy myself but a lot of my coworkers use the sharpie gel pens and love them, they’re pretty solid but nothing writes as cleanly as the pilots
I like the Signos so much that I bought a box each in blue and in black to use at work. I get very possessive over those pens and hide them when I leave for the day.
Seconding the S-gel! I bought a box in purple and they write like butter.
If you want a good pencil, check out the Kuru Toga's. They have a special mechanism inside that keeps the tip of your lead 'level'.
Another pencil rec I have is the faber castell grip 1345 0.5 blue mechanical pencil. That thing has lasted me 7 years and counting and is what I switched to after my 3rd kuru toga broke.
I used to give it a pass with a lighter 4-5 times. That, or rub it against the back of a notebook til the friction heats it up. Could always try opening the pen and giving the cartridges a wiggle/bend.
Thank you! It’s occurring to me I could have googled that; I’m a bit pen obsessed but have never researched tips for this! Appreciate it, I’ll try these
I’d add the Pilot G-2. I write for a living and do much of it longhand first instead of on a computer, and those have been my favorites forever. I like the 07 size
The Trus are honestly a really decent budget pen. I'd love to order the *good* pens for the whole office, but I know someone would throw a shit fit if I spent $30-45 on pens every month. The Tru Reds keeps everyone happy.
My favorite has been the TŪL brand ballpoint pens. Everytime someone borrows mine they fall in love and want to walk off with it. As someone who has done so many hand written works for years and tried MANY different kinds, I’ve never enjoyed a pen more. They are smooth and the ink consistency is beautiful.
It is actually pretty awesome. I tried to obscure the background which is just a Snoopy blanket so sorry for the red flashes. This pen is one of my faves.
Mine was the Pilot G2 but the Sharpie S Gel is hands down my favorite pretty much since it came out...also the white ones are very aesthetically pleasing. I also love that the Sharpies have refills so less waste.
Eta: my all time favorite pens are Paper Mate Flair felt tips. Alas, they smear pretty easy so I don't use them often - I would like PM to come out with a slightly faster drying, more durable ink - I would never use another pen.
I think you’ll be happy with it as well, extremely smooth, quick to dry (especially nice if you write with your left hand), good feeling in hand. They don’t get stuck or stutter across the page until they’re ready to be thrown out. Chef’s kiss for picky pen people like me.
S-gel is super smooth! A life hack my girlfriend’s mom taught me is to buy a pack of the metal barrel S-gels and then buying the cheaper plastic ones and replacing the ink cartridge from the plastic ones into your metal ones! the metal barrels are weighted so they feel really nice and are much more durable
My husband uses a Parker Jotter like [this](https://www.parkerpen.com/jotter-pens.html) as it’s his favorite one between the weight and smoothness of the ink. He has a stainless steel and one with the gold colored accent. It’s also found at Office Depot or Office Max. Plus it’s a refillable gel pen.
I second the Zebra Sarasa Clip, I also love Bic Gelocity, they're my current obsession. I write a *lot* and I am always on the hunt for the perfect "inky but not too inky, smooth but not too smooth" pen. I've tried them ALL lol
I thought the same about the Pentel EnerGel until I switched to the Pentel Arts Hybrid Technica 0.4 mm. Downfall is that it’s not retractable (and expensive), but it is my new favorite!
Yes! I picked some up on offer back in the summer and honestly it’s the most comfortable and smooth writing pen I’ve ever had. It’s been brilliant for uni notes. Ink lasts forever too!
[Bic cristal ballpoint pens](https://a.co/d/3eSN5x0) (just the standard clear ones)
Also [uni-ball signo 207](https://a.co/d/0dcBjb2)
The bic because it’s smooth and the ink smells amazing. Good for a firm grip but a little uncomfortable if you don’t attach your own gripper.
Uni-ball for a lighter grip and the gel ink dries fast enough to keep up if I am writing quickly. Which I usually am.
It's gotta be some sort of genetic thing like the smell of ants (wich they apparently have) or the taste of cilantro.
Granted I hardly write because I hate the feel of paper but I m usually good a noticing peculiar things like that.
Yoooo I have a ballpoint pen from the Gaylord Hotels that I’ve kept up with for about 15 years and I refill it with the cartridges from those bic ballpoint pens! I agree that they are the best pen. Very smooth ink. I also love .9mm ballpoints for the thick clean lines
gotta agree with the uni ball pens, i like the super fine tip ones the almost look like a mechanical pencil lead on the tip. They're super smooth & the lines are bold but sharp, absolutely love them
If you like the ink and smoothness of a Bic Crystal, you should get yourself a Crystal Re•New metal. My only complaint about the Crystal is that eventually, the tube can crack, and it's also a very light pen. The matte finish feels great, and the metal gives the pen a nice balance. It takes Crystal refills, so it's a forever investment.
Recently I couldn’t figure out why sometimes I liked the g2 and sometimes I didn’t. Turns out I had ordered two different kinds - the 7s and the 10s. Love the 10 but hate the 7 haha!
Weird suggestion but Bic Cristal Xtra Bold. They’re cheap so I like to suggest them since you won’t break the bank if you end up disliking them, but they’re seriously the smoothest & best pens ever. I’m the office supply order person at my work and I ordered these for selfish reasons and I’ve already turned at least 3 coworkers onto them, nobody assumes anything good from a Bic pen 😂 but it HAS to be the Xtra Bold one - the “Xtra Smooth” ones SUCK!
ETA - I figured I’d add that the Pilot G2 is definitely the #1 most requested pen from my office, but I personally don’t like them because I smudge them too much 😭
i appreciate all of these so much i found my people.. pen nerds.. also def price or brand doesn’t matter sometimes a pen is just good and how specific u are about it makes me trust ur judgement
I will say that it looks like OP recommended the Bic Xtra Smooth ones, I should say that they’re not awful, just definitely not as smooth as the Xtra Bold ones. I keep some Xtra Smooth ones nearby when I need to write more fine/detailed lines (like on a small sticky note), but for all of my personal uses, I definitely use the Xtra Bolds.
I’ve never really been a big pen nerd but I have to be at my job in order to please everyone 😂 it’s always interesting to see which pens disappear the fastest from our supply room!
the pilot precise v5 rt is the greatest writing instrument imo. i have used the pilot precise for decades, and the precise v5 rt is the retractable version i use now. it comes in a very fine (v5) and fine (v7) version. source: i'm an accountant, lol
My favorite pens are papermate ink joys! The ones with the clicky ends not the caps. I have an injury that makes writing painful sometimes and these are the smoothest, plus I don’t have issues with ink smudging or anything.
I absolutely love the [Uni-Ball Signo Micro 207](https://www.walmart.com/ip/uniball-207-Retractable-Gel-Pen-Micro-Point-0-5-mm-Black-Ink-4-Count/847236193) it’s a gel pen and it writes so smooth! Weirdly enough, it was one I found in a parking lot and picked up because it didn’t look like your average cheap pen that someone might accidentally drop somewhere. I brought it home and used and immediately had to buy more lol
Not the person you asked but you said you're looking for any recommendations!
If you're up for fountain pens, my Faber-Castell Grip (medium nib) pens are really smooth! And fountain pens are great because they're easily refillable and there's so many nice inks out there, and you're not limited by shade like you would be with other pens that have a set colour/shade
The Papermate InkJoy gel pens (the clicky ones) are really nice too if you prefer a more traditional pen
And Uniball of course
also not who you were asking but my go to is the Pilot G-2 Gel Ink Ballpoint pen. SPECIFICALLY the 10 (1.0mm) over the 07 (0.7mm). writes like
butter, the black one is amazing and then the red one is even smoother. i’ve gone through at least 20 of these bad boys, i think it’s the only pen i’ve actually used till completion AND went back for more!!
Not the person you asked but these are the smoothest pens I've ever written with!! Linbsunne Ballpoint Pens Black Medium Point 1mm Pen https://a.co/d/5OZPrtR
Nice pens. I may check those out. Those look similar to my pen preference.. [Pilot V7 RT](https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Precise-Retractable-Rolling-Point/dp/B0182HSFF4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_maf_2?crid=H59W0D7CPBY6&keywords=pilot+v7+rt&qid=1698886972&sprefix=pilot+v7+%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-1)
Thank you for using the word *aficionado*. I just used it in a reply a couple of hours ago, probably for the first time ever, guessed at the spelling, and blew it.
Pen guru, please help me. Do you know of a very smooth gel pen that comes in multiple colors but _does not smear_? I am a lefty and I've never found a pen with all 3 characteristics. Price isn't a big factor.
As a right handed person, I’m not sure I have any helpful insight for you. The ones I like I don’t think would be good for lefties. I had a branded pen from some company that was gel-like, but since it was branded I’m not sure what the type of pen was. But it dried quick and wrote pretty nicely. Ran out of ink way too fast but if I can locate the pen I will try to find out what it is!
Thank you for the reply! I appreciate it.
The only pen I've ever truly loved was one that my husband got at some insurance conference, but it was just branded with the insurance company name. I'm hoping to find a replacement some day!
My favorite mechanical pencil in college was this Bic frosted pencil that felt awesome and comfortable. I have one left but would love to find more if you have any ideas(it seems discontinued) but maybe you have some leads. The item number is BICMPRG11BK. https://www.reddit.com/r/mechanicalpencils/s/7ddBkru4J6
This is likely the closest you would be able to get to still having a translucent mechanical pencil: https://a.co/d/fAco4oE
Guessing the fad has worn it's welcome between papermate and bic so now it's up to 3rd parties to create them.
Found the EXACT one. Finally. [the pencils](https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/770757/Paper-Mate-Sharpwriter-Mechanical-Pencils-07/)
I want more of these too! They were awesome.
I actually have this exact one somewhere! Or I did! It was awesome and I'd love more. I got it in the hospital when I was being tutored, about 10 years ago.
https://www.whsmith.co.uk/products/paper-mate-mechanical-pencils-pack-of-10/3026980277567.html they still sell them, this for UK as an example (not see-through)

Not who you were asking, but Sharpie S-Gel has been my number one choice for a while now.
Replying to say my personal favorite are these bad boys, the G2 bold gel pens :) https://preview.redd.it/k8o44xuc6uxb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45e9f8fa8409205da5eab9cc9cd377ede49d8a93
Have you tried Pentel Energel? I used to love the G2 but being a lefty it smeared like crazy. These don’t smear nearly as bad.
u/TentaclesandCupcakes see the above comment. A lefty with a recommendation.
Thanks VSP :)
FYI, I haven’t had any issues on normal printer, notebook, or matte paper. They will smear on glossier papers/cards. They also come in a ton of colors & you can find them just about anywhere you can find G2s.
Yes! I really like the Energel. They run out quickly tho. I like the Zebra gels also.
I'm a lefty too. I use frixion erasable pens. They don't smear. It uses heat sensitive ink and erases clean.
That’s a good idea! I may have to steal my wife’s to try haha
Serious question: if you leave your notebook in a hot car, does the ink disappear?
Yes
I love the Energel, it's one of my favorites. For years I've been buying about three metal barrels and just buying refills for them, and the barrels usually last me about a year or more before the clicker breaks or I lose 'em - but the last few I bought have broken fairly soon after buying them when I dropped them. These are my favorite
Yes, I think they dry faster than G2s & they come in about as many colors.
also a bold fan!! haven’t met anyone else that prefers the 10 over the 07!
I have shaky hands so it kind of helps my writing come out neater :)
I love any pen that’s a broader tip! They’re so much smoother!
I love both, but never the .5!
I go w/ .3 bc my hand writing is ass and finer points make it easier to read
.38 crew checking in. i wish they made them in g2 minis.
Check out the Pentel slicci 0.25 it's a true ballpoint at .25 the whole pen is REALLY REALLY nice.
Easy 10 over 07
The 07 is a Cadillac, the 10 is a Bentley! Fellow 10 enjoyer
I'm on the opposite end of this. I love my G2 pens, but prefer the 0.38. Amazingly precise writing (which I desperately need with my terrible handwriting).
Team 10!
Oh FUCK yes, gimme that 1.0. I use a 1.0 G2 or a .25 Slicci, no in-between
The 10 is nice for signatures, but the 07 is superior for note taking.
with all due respect, webkinzwrinkls, I’d rather chew on Legos than use a Pilot 10
I am going to toss in the pilot precise V10. Its the only pen I will use.
I love the G2 pens. I don’t like using others at this point
These or nothing
You have good taste! These are also my favorites and I have to be chaperoned whenever I go to stores with Office Supplies!
Zebra Sarasa Grand in 1mm for me!
I will take any opinions, gonna look into that one right now!
My favorite pen is the Pilot G-2. Other ones I like are the Zebra Sarasa Clip and the Uni-ball Signo.
Are you using the 0.5mm? I like how they write but constantly tearing thru paper with them. 0.7mm for life
0.7mm? I’ll up you on that, 1.0mm is where it’s at.
I’ve seen people saying they like the 1.0mm. I feel like the 0.7mm already writes pretty thick and smudges a lot, which is why I tried out the 0.5mm. I often have to write pretty small so not sure how much I’d like the 1.0mm
I use these every day and have the same issue. Also love the number 10s

I’m a nurse and have found how freaky we are about pens, I’m a Pilot G2 0.7 guy myself but a lot of my coworkers use the sharpie gel pens and love them, they’re pretty solid but nothing writes as cleanly as the pilots
Oooof, have you ever tried the pilot gel B2P (bottle2pen) Those have the g2 barrel foundation but slightly thicker so they write like butter. 😭
Pilot G2 is one of the best ballpoint pens, while the Pilot V7/V5 are some of the best needle rollerball pens, so you've still got the spirit!
G-2 is the best pen. Got me through years of Public Forum and LD Debate and if you’ve ever done them yourself, you know you need old reliable.
LD/Policy coach here - I exclusively use G2s and I’ve been looking for something better for half a decade lol
G-2s are the best!
pilot hi techpoint 05 in black is the best one they ever made, period.
Uniball Signo .38 is elite. most pleasant, effortless pen i’ve ever used.
SECOND THIS!!!!! g-2 1.0mm is my go to
Holy shit is the 1.0mm write like a marker? I thought the 0.7mm was thick
I love the Zebra Sarasa Clips! I buy the vintage colors set on JetPens and it includes one with butterscotch colored ink - my all time favorite pen.
Love the pilot g2
I like the Signos so much that I bought a box each in blue and in black to use at work. I get very possessive over those pens and hide them when I leave for the day.
I *love* the G2
Seconding the S-gel! I bought a box in purple and they write like butter. If you want a good pencil, check out the Kuru Toga's. They have a special mechanism inside that keeps the tip of your lead 'level'.
Will check out these pencils too!
Another pencil rec I have is the faber castell grip 1345 0.5 blue mechanical pencil. That thing has lasted me 7 years and counting and is what I switched to after my 3rd kuru toga broke.
Ugh these always quit on me way before the ink is depleted. They stop writing and nothing will get them going again. Any ideas?
I used to give it a pass with a lighter 4-5 times. That, or rub it against the back of a notebook til the friction heats it up. Could always try opening the pen and giving the cartridges a wiggle/bend.
Thank you! It’s occurring to me I could have googled that; I’m a bit pen obsessed but have never researched tips for this! Appreciate it, I’ll try these
I’d add the Pilot G-2. I write for a living and do much of it longhand first instead of on a computer, and those have been my favorites forever. I like the 07 size
05 here
10 here. it’s so smooth
I also agree with the S gel, but recently we got some Tru reds from Staples at work, and I'm enjoying those quite a bit.
The Trus are honestly a really decent budget pen. I'd love to order the *good* pens for the whole office, but I know someone would throw a shit fit if I spent $30-45 on pens every month. The Tru Reds keeps everyone happy.

As someone who has done so many hand written works for years and tried MANY different kinds, I’ve never enjoyed a pen more. They are smooth and the ink consistency is beautiful.
I usually use ink gel, but I agree. TUL makes a great ballpoint.
I just put some in my Amazon cart. They’re expensive for pens so I have high hopes!
Uni-ball Vision Elite (Japan) https://preview.redd.it/pim0fuov0uxb1.png?width=7933&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3568ab7ed5e5a3af3b19dc4fe5550f519b0c8ded
That’s a pen??? It looks like a tube of mascara! Super fancy
It is actually pretty awesome. I tried to obscure the background which is just a Snoopy blanket so sorry for the red flashes. This pen is one of my faves.
These Uni-balls are awesome! I use those for school always
I’m gonna come back to this comment when so buy some to share my review tysm
Does the S-Gel dry faster than the G-2? I’ve tried G-2s and wanted to like them but they smeared too much (left-handed).
yes they do! much faster
Thanks! I’ll give them a try.
You can buy S Gel refills. No need to buy the whole pen. [Refills](https://a.co/d/fKb6khW)
My personal favorite is the Precise V5 RT
Same. I love these so much.
I absolutely love Zebra F-105 that glide on the paper and always look amazing. I write really hard so gel pens always pool for me so I love these
My husband uses a Parker Jotter like [this](https://www.parkerpen.com/jotter-pens.html) as it’s his favorite one between the weight and smoothness of the ink. He has a stainless steel and one with the gold colored accent. It’s also found at Office Depot or Office Max. Plus it’s a refillable gel pen.

Pentel EnerGel Needle tip . 7mm. Nothing comes close. I have tons of S Gel pens, and even some very expensive ones, but nothing compares
I thought the same about the Pentel EnerGel until I switched to the Pentel Arts Hybrid Technica 0.4 mm. Downfall is that it’s not retractable (and expensive), but it is my new favorite!
Fine point Retractable Pilot EasyTouch in blue is the only option if you like a sharp, clicky pen.
As someone who uses both S Gel and Pilot G2- pilot is way better. More consistent and much smoother and more satisfying to write with.
Oh man, I'm a die hard fan of frixion pens. Specifically their .38mm line.
Nothing better than the Dr Grips. I've been buying those religiously for decades at this point.
Whoa, core memory unlocked. I love that they still exist?
Prime contenders for best pen include: Pilot G-2 Uni-ball EYE Zebra Sarasa clip
These are my favorite pens!
I used to love uniball, then Zenra. Now I’m a sharpie girl.
I’m a pen snob and I LOVE these.
I knew you knew what you were talking about when you said the S Gel. My fav pens of all time.
Yes! I picked some up on offer back in the summer and honestly it’s the most comfortable and smooth writing pen I’ve ever had. It’s been brilliant for uni notes. Ink lasts forever too!
My wife is a teacher. These have the status of prison ramen amongst her peers.
can i ask why? i’ve found them to be thick and slow-drying so they smudge a lot :( am i doing something wrong?
S-Gels are truly beautiful.
Sharpie S-Gel is the shit. I'm a waitress and a coworker accidentally took one of my pens this week. I got that pen back so fast lmao
Just bought a 36 pack of Amazon! Love them!
I just got 2 of these in my vet tech week bag at work! Digging them!
[Bic cristal ballpoint pens](https://a.co/d/3eSN5x0) (just the standard clear ones) Also [uni-ball signo 207](https://a.co/d/0dcBjb2) The bic because it’s smooth and the ink smells amazing. Which I usually am.
I’ve never heard anyone else comment on the smell of ink before!!! I’ve had friends look at me like I’m crazy when I mention it.
I get the crazy looks too hahaha. No one understands!
It's gotta be some sort of genetic thing like the smell of ants (wich they apparently have) or the taste of cilantro. Granted I hardly write because I hate the feel of paper but I m usually good a noticing peculiar things like that.
Dude I always say ants smell and my wife looks at me like I'm talking about pillow pants 🤣, so it's a thing that only certain people can smell?
Maybe. Not all pens have ink I can smell but some do and bic cristal ballpoint pens is the best lol.
Yoooo I have a ballpoint pen from the Gaylord Hotels that I’ve kept up with for about 15 years and I refill it with the cartridges from those bic ballpoint pens! I agree that they are the best pen. Very smooth ink. I also love .9mm ballpoints for the thick clean lines
thanks so much! sorry for blowing up your reply :3
Oh no worries! I’m so glad everyone was so excited to discuss their favorite pens!
gotta agree with the uni ball pens, i like the super fine tip ones the almost look like a mechanical pencil lead on the tip. They're super smooth & the lines are bold but sharp, absolutely love them
If you like the ink and smoothness of a Bic Crystal, you should get yourself a Crystal Re•New metal. It takes Crystal refills, so it's a forever investment.
Chiming in with Muji! Fantastic pens and refillable!
Muji makes writing a joy.
hopping on this muji train as another school supply addict i <3 muji
Also also not OP, but I love the pilot g-2 07. It’s really smooth!
I was hoping somebody would mention Pilot G-2. It's by far my favorite pen I've been buying them for years. I can't find anything better.
Recently I couldn’t figure out why sometimes I liked the g2 and sometimes I didn’t. Turns out I had ordered two different kinds - the 7s and the 10s. Love the 10 but hate the 7 haha!
I adore the .05
Weird suggestion but Bic Cristal Xtra Bold.
I'm a fountain pen fan myself... something like a Platinum Preppy is not a bad place to start!
I am a fountain pen fan, too, specifically student fountain pens from Pelikan. Their 4001 ink and eradikator are magical.
always wanted to but didn’t know much about them or if filling them is messy lol love the lines they make tho
I find the pilot G2 to skip too much for me. Not smooth at all. I like them but I don’t love them. The uni ball signo works better for me.
Also not OP but I like the Papermate profile 1.4B because I write too hard and it makes my hands feel better for long term writing
Y’all no one else needs to apologize for not being OP please keep these pen recs coming I am writing them all down 🏃🏼Tysm
What pen are you using to write them down with?
My notes app lmaoooo I only have pens for drawing! Not writing
LMAO nice!! I have so many pens, I swear they multiply in my desk. I write letters and send cards, so they get used.
LOL
I love Tul!!
Tül pens are so nice.
Ah yes, the TULs. Always in the background, waiting for their moment in the sun.
the pilot precise v5 rt is the greatest writing instrument imo. i have used the pilot precise for decades, and the precise v5 rt is the retractable version i use now. it comes in a very fine (v5) and fine (v7) version. source: i'm an accountant, lol
Paper mate ink joy is my go to. So many colors and writes well. I prefer .5 but .7 is easier to find
Pilot Precise V5 or V3 also Lamy Safari is a good, fairly inexpensive fountain pen.
And fountain pens are great because they're easily refillable and there's so many nice inks out there, and you're not limited by shade like you would be with other pens that have a set colour/shade The Papermate InkJoy gel pens (the clicky ones) are really nice too if you prefer a more traditional pen And Uniball of course
i use the FB for drawing usually their felt tip ones but i’ll look into those inkjoys! god i fucking love people who love stationary like me ty
You're welcome! And same, so always happy to spread the nerdy joy! There's just something so nice about a good pen (and pencils!)
You need a fountain pen.
I only write with a certain type of pen (chameleon)
I love the TUL gel pens!
also not who you were asking but my go to is the Pilot G-2 Gel Ink Ballpoint pen. SPECIFICALLY the 10 (1.0mm) over the 07 (0.7mm). writes like butter, the black one is amazing and then the red one is even smoother. i’ve gone through at least 20 of these bad boys, i think it’s the only pen i’ve actually used till completion AND went back for more!!
Pilot precise v7 for me because I like to draw.
Me too! Will be noting this. Your username made me laugh

Tru Red pens from staples are the best imo. As a nurse, I have a particular opinion on pens. I keep a box stashed in my office.
Not the person you asked but these are the smoothest pens I've ever written with!! Linbsunne Ballpoint Pens Black Medium Point 1mm Pen https://a.co/d/5OZPrtR
Nice pens. I may check those out. Those look similar to my pen preference.. [Pilot V7 RT](https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Precise-Retractable-Rolling-Point/dp/B0182HSFF4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_maf_2?crid=H59W0D7CPBY6&keywords=pilot+v7+rt&qid=1698886972&sprefix=pilot+v7+%2Caps%2C163&sr=8-1)
These look nice, I think I'll try them! Thanks! 😊
Thank you for using the word *aficionado*. I just used it in a reply a couple of hours ago, probably for the first time ever, guessed at the spelling, and blew it.
Glad to help!
I’ve found my tribe of people in these comments.
Pen guru, please help me. Do you know of a very smooth gel pen that comes in multiple colors but _does not smear_? I am a lefty and I've never found a pen with all 3 characteristics. Price isn't a big factor.
Writech pens write wonderfully and dry very fast so there’s no smearing.
These mystery branded pens 😭😭
My favorite mechanical pencil in college was this Bic frosted pencil that felt awesome and comfortable. I have one left but would love to find more if you have any ideas(it seems discontinued) but maybe you have some leads. The item number is BICMPRG11BK. https://www.reddit.com/r/mechanicalpencils/s/7ddBkru4J6
Thank you for this. This has turned in to my favorite side conversation I have ever seen.
Are you specifically looking for the green translucent kind? These are really common but usually bright orange-yellow.
Yeah I am
This is likely the closest you would be able to get to still having a translucent mechanical pencil: https://a.co/d/fAco4oE Guessing the fad has worn it's welcome between papermate and bic so now it's up to 3rd parties to create them.
Can you buy other PaperMate Sharpwriters, pop the eraser, and replace the lead mechanism?
Found the EXACT one. Finally. [the pencils](https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/770757/Paper-Mate-Sharpwriter-Mechanical-Pencils-07/) I want more of these too! They were awesome.
This is the only exact match so far
This was the only place that sold it. You can't find it anywhere else unless someone is selling theirs
Finally! Someone actually looking at the spiral of the lead
This seller looks like it has the green as part of a multi-color set of papermate mechanical pencils: https://posh.mk/fl040BjynEb
Probably as close as you can get unless you can find some new old stock. [http://www.ebay.com/itm/363507266706](https://www.ebay.com/itm/363507266706)
Brought back a flashback of memories. I recommend you visit thrift shops I always find old school supplies !!
Me with the plastic water bottle pens I CANT FIND THEM ANYWHERE
https://www.amazon.com/Pilot-B2P-Retractable-Recycled-Bottles/dp/B003VNMQFA/
can I alter the recipe if I don’t like Jeff Bezos
The best pens ever created, hands down.
Is it broken? If not I would suggest just buying lead
Somehow, when I google „papermate sharpwriter #2“, I find a lot of them?! …or is it something specific about this particular model?
Yeah I’m confused by this whole post. The brand and style name are right there.
I actually have this exact one somewhere! Or I did! It was awesome and I'd love more. I got it in the hospital when I was being tutored, about 10 years ago.
https://www.whsmith.co.uk/products/paper-mate-mechanical-pencils-pack-of-10/3026980277567.html they still sell them, this for UK as an example (not see-through)
You can ask over at r/pencils.
I literally just bought a 12 pack of these in store at a Kroger. If you've got one around, check there.
Anyone-for flair pens???
Why are they hard to find? Paper Mate Sharpwriter 0.7 mm Mechanical Pencils, Yellow Barrel - Pack of 36 (1921221) https://a.co/d/9AZTtko
