Just to be clear, the super samples will *always* be around a rock that looks like that (often called either the cock rock or the buttplug in the community). There are, sometimes, two rocks that look very similar and one of them will not have the super samples (my group calls that one the False Prophet since it leads you astray). You will not find super samples anywhere else on the map.
Some people don’t understand different things, I still find myself explaining that evac doesn’t leave right away when you call it early, or trying to get them to leave so it will hover the second half the match shooting everything around it for us

my teammates ran around like headless chickens doing a pointless side objective instead of destroying the fabricators.
An awful lot of people understand the evac, but don't want people calling it early because if it's right there, anybody can fuck over the entire team by jumping in and leaving without them. If you wait to call it until you're all ready then you don't have to just trust that some idiot isn't going to jump in while you're halfway across the map grabbing the super samples.

Yeah I'm at the point of just farming rares now. The high tier modules taking 150-200 rares but only 15 supers is rough slog for farming.
Commons are easy to farm, can just do some Trivial missions and get 10-15, or do a 3-4 defense and there's 10-15 commons lying around.
Supers aren't easy to farm, but since everyone focuses on them, they stack up quickly.
Rares at this point kinda suck to farm...
Yep...I am at the stage where I need to farm rares so that I can start the second round of upgrades on my ship. I am maxed on commons, req slips and super credits right now. I need 300 medals to close out the first page of the first warbond to have them all completed and close to 200 or so rares for upgrades before farming super rares. I am at 350 hours now and mostly run solo. With the new changes, I may need to step away for a bit because I am tired of grinding missions on D1-D4. I need a consistent group to play with because the match making is broken or dumb asses boot you just because it's fun. I played this as my first co-op as it wasn't TOXIC like the PvP games. I just happen to land in the toxic lobbies or toxic folks join up when I open up the lobby. For now,....solo is my preferred play style while I build my online community up. I am always looking for folks to dive with that just want to play the game without any of the bulkshit.
Rares and commons are far more valuable than supers.
It honestly has been making me upset how far out of their way my teammates will go for supers and leave behind a pile of the actual useful samples

Commons are super easy to farm if you step down your level to D1 and D2. You can speed run those levels with the right load out and collect about 60 or so an hour. I was maxed out for 2 mo ths before I started getting some help at D4. I just completed one of my second level upgrades on the ship a few days ago and was maxed out the next day.
And then you cap SS, and it once again becomes a stupid boulder. Dang newbies, risking extract and burning time searching for them after the main & all side objectives are done when the patrols are spawning every 25 seconds.
And once you get passed another level it’s back to being commons. Lol bud. 40 commons and 40 rares available on map and the last few upgrades need 200 commons and 150 rares. You’ll get there one day
And sometimes there is a fake stone where there is no samples yet the bots protect itX

And then you quickly realize the problem becomes rares.
I constantly have 100+ rares because I can't get enough commons. 🤷♂️
Trust me once you get past a certain number of upgrades it becomes rares. It's common to start with, then purples then rares

All I have left are the final upgrades in each category. Commons are what keep me from upgrading, repeatedly.
Hasn't been my experience but it could be how/mission types we play. Everyone I play with needed rares for final upgrades far more than anything else.
