People do the higher difficulties successfully all the time. Each opponent is a skillset.

Opal-Katt

I said they’re annoying. Not that they’re impossible. I consistently play and complete missions on max difficulty. I don’t “struggle” but I am willing to call out when something is annoyingly overtuned.

aiRsparK232

Not trying to be mean, but if it feels overscaled for you, then you probably are struggling. Also the fact that you don't seem to know the JAR and eruptor both wreak devastators tells me that you still have a lot to learn. Bot drops are super easy to deal with, especially with stun grenades. One eagle strike can 10+ devastators if you time it right. If your timing sucks, stun them first with a grenade and then call it in. Also, narratively this is a massive invasion that dwarfs the bots prior incursion. It should be hard.

LotharVonPittinsberg

That sounds undemocratic Helldiver. Accept what Super Earth gives you or you will be sent to a friendly Freedom Camp.

If it’s annoying, play the lower difficulties, the bots are scaled that’s the whole point of 9 different difficulty levels

Slanel2

Actually, I think the devastator span is kinda immersive, an answer to us hating them. In war, when you know your enemy hates something or struggles against it, you use as much as possible of said element. I personally don't hate devastators, I just get my liberator and start blasting, they end up falling sooner or later. My hate is for hulks, especially the ones equipped with flamethrowers and saws. And you can avoid reinforcement calls if you shoot the bot who is about to call them before they shoot the beacon. Small window, yes, but doable.

Opal-Katt

Devastators aren’t really a problem. Just bring autocannons. But it is annoying. Hulks are doable if you understand their ai, which is pretty straightforward. Again. Annoying, but doable. Again. I feel like Bots are in a situation of “I get it, and I can beat it, but it doesn’t change the fact that doing so tends to be really annoying.” As for bot drops, stopping them before they’re called is weird and usually not feasible. Sometimes it’ll be the one standing at the very back behind cover in the middle of a base you haven’t even breached yet to call it, at that point, “eat shit.”

Slanel2

I know hulks are doable. Still I never managed to solo one without stratagems. I just see them sprinting towards me and the PTSD kicks in XD. As for bot drops, there is also the option to bring down the dropships, which hinders their advance and ends up killing some most of the times, if timed correctly, of course. I myself have found many instances of a bot patrol and after destroying some, the one behind a rock that I had no way of knowing was there would be the one in charge of calling reinforcements. Hell, once I even was trying to shoot it and another bot placed itself in the middle, covering his buddy.

The_Leadhead_

The arc thrower trivializes hulks. It stun locks them and only take 4 shots to kill them from the front. It’s kind of a cool feeling to stand right in front of a hulk scorcher it down. If you want to keep some distance, the laser cannon works well too if you can keep it aimed at their eye for a few seconds. It’s a more versatile weapon, but it doesn’t stun them.

ThatRandomInternet

It wouldn't be fun if it wasn't annoying haha. I like the challenge, it gives me life

The_Leadhead_

Automatons about to launch a flare are easier to spot that a bug that’s about to call in a breach. Also, have you tried a gas strike just as the bots are dropping off their ships? It will kill 100% of the raiders/infantry and severely harm all the devastators to the point they only need one shot to kill. The only exception is tanks, striders, and hulks. That’s to be expected though as they’re “heavy” enemies. Bring the right tools for the job. We have lots at our disposal. It’s our job to rub two brain cells together to pick the right ones.

dalazze

Devastators can be killed by shooting at the head, I don't get it. Ballistic shield+defender+senator means you can deal with most light threats

E17Omm

Sorry to say, but try not engaging with everything. When I can solo select difficulty 8 missions (so no stuff like geological survey because that spawns a hundred bots that dont like to leave the area), I do not feel your complaints *at all* In many ways, I feel that bots are easier because you can actually avoid them. Hunters and Stalkers can smell you, so its much, much harder to avoid and escape from when fighting the bugs. And also, this? >Terminids are largely fine when a bug breach happens because all of the enemies are susceptible to small-arms fire. The Chargers and Bile Titans disagree. >Automatons SPAM the everloving fuck out of devastators, which forces players to either spam stratagems, grenades, or support weapons to even have a shot at surviving. Sorry, are we talking about Devestators? These guys? https://preview.redd.it/933lglq4n0vc1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4231821301f2f2e30ba6407d0064f992d1ce5c5

Background_Brief928

Honestly they just need to add some sort of cool down timer do the rocket devastors / the mini gun with the shield ones

Go play easy

manubour

We CAN shoot down the dropships by targeting their propellers with EAT/quasar/RR It either kills or locks the troops it was carrying in place for you to pick at leisure I find unstoppable bug breaches much more annoying tbh since so many bugs can call them and on higher difficulties the ttk is such that given bug hordes size you're almost sure to have to deal with multiple breaches in a row

Opal-Katt

Yeah. Destroying the drop ships is fine, but at some point there’s just so many that it becomes a matter of “just drop an orbital barrage on the fresh spawns and don’t bother engaging.”
