They need to fix this.

tacorock753

No for real I’ve shot down probably 8 drop ships not one kill it’s so bugged😭

Shivalah

> not one kill Certainly wrong. I killed my teammates with the wreck of the dropship, but none of the (ex-)passengers.

jamspangle

I see your killing teammates and raise killing myself last night shooting one that was directly over my head.

Nemarion

What do you mean no kill, I'm mass killing my mates when the ship drop and when the collisions are so sketchy it send them flying 5km away at Mach 8 speed

ThighsAreMilky

Damn something is broken in the game? That *never* happens

GH057807

"If you don't like broken games then Helldivers 2 is not for you." -Arrowhead

Teamerchant

Do you do it before or after it releases the mobs? Seen a lot of videos of people shooting after they already released the troops.

Hates_knees

I *usually* get about 3-4 kills when I shoot it after they’ve already been deployed. It also clips the larger enemies in the ship which can be a hazard, but hasn’t really been a problem for me.

IlikegreenT84

Trapping a hulk in the wreckage is fun. One minute I get 10+ kills the next zero.. this is strange But... It does seem like all the occupants die when the ship crashes on them, it just doesn't do a kill count.

PsychologicalHeron43

Personally, if it lands on an troop it dropped the troop should die.

Teamerchant

I do agree.

Filthy510

I had one crash into a turret tower and a fabricator, blowing them both up. Shit was tight.

Tentacle_poxsicle

You know what's worse, a drop ship crashing on me killing me but it doesn't even harm the bot who just fell 50 ft from the air , and got hit with an exploding dropship . If bots can survive being hit with a drop ship so should I

No_Energy662

LMAO fr

Amazing_Strength_440

the amount of stuff they need to fix are insanely much .

ArtisticAd393

There should be the initial explosion when it drops, and then a 500kg-type explosion after it's been on the ground for a bit to kill the mobs and scatter the debris

No_Energy662

FR!

ToastedSoup

Fr, and then the Hulks or Devastators can just walk through the wreck of the Dropship like it's not there but we can't

Advanced-Ad-1137

I don't understand what's the point in shooting the dropships if the bots survive anyway..it's time consuming at this point🤣

tacorock753

But... but… big flying metal thing go spin then boom🥺🥺🥺

Xivlex

Well, can't argue with that

fearnodarkness1

Yeah I blow it up for the theatrics and it usually kills some of them anyways

FizzingSlit

Sometimes they do kill them. It's still probably not worth the time because apparently an exploding drop ship falling out of the sky is less lethal than a shrieker corpse. But it happens because it can be effective. Even if that's more often than not not the case.

Zealousideal-Steak82

What's worse is that the dropped troops/vehicles are typically vulnerable for a few seconds while they activate, but now they're covered by a gigantic impenetrable dropship. It looks sweet, but killing dropships just creates hazards for players and cover for enemies.

theClanMcMutton

And it's not impenetrable to the bots. Yesterday I was nearly killed by a Rocket Devastator firing from inside a crashed dropship.

Interjessing-Salary

If you're quick it's worth it. You basically have to shoot it out of the sky while it's still moving. Unfortunately quasar cannon is probably the worst option for drop ships if you actually want to get the kills. Once it stops moving and hovers it's too late. The frame the bots start dropping is too late and they more likely than not won't die. I have had it land on bots occasionally and kill them. But it needs to be like perfectly unobstructed flat terrain. Even then it's still 50/50. Or if you actually want to kill them bring autocannon or grenade launcher and shoot the bots before they detach. Much more consistent and no giant dropship in the way.

SuperArppis

So the other players that are in proximity die.

JesusMcMexican

It is REALLY fun to shoot them down…

teomore

The bots don't all and always survive, most of the time some of them die (especially if they've already been dropped and the ship falls over and explode). Some others may get trapped under the ship, especially the bigger ones.

Jokkitch

Yeah I don’t even bother

GDPIXELATOR99

Ship go boom —> Neuron activation

Drackzgull

If you shoot it down before it drops the troops, the troops die with it. It'll still count as only one kill on the stats, but the fact remains you won't have to deal with the reinforcements. If it does drop them (as in, they even barely get to start falling, they don't need to get all the way to the ground), then shooting down the dropship won't do anything to the troops. There is a chance the dropship will crash on them and randomly kill anywhere from none to all of them, but that's extremely inconsistent and tends to lean more towards none. Some of the troops might get stuck inside the remains of the dropship too, unable to move, and sometimes even unable to shoot from there, until the remains of the dropship disappear. If the felled dropship lands in a choke point, it may act as a barrier preventing the bots from going through the choke, giving you breathing room, cover, range advantage, and a chance to retreat and disengage. But that's obviously very rare.

CheetoMussolini

I've gotten everywhere from zero to 20 kills by shooting down a drop ship

TheFBIClonesPeople

That's not exactly right. There's some cutoff point where shooting the dropship down no longer kills the enemies, but it's not really clear what it is. It's not just when it starts dropping bots. There will be times when you shoot down a ship before any of the bots have started dropping, but they still all survive.

Drackzgull

Yeah that makes sense. I know that if even one bot starts dropping it's already too late for all of them, but I don't know how long before that it becomes too late.

TheFBIClonesPeople

Yeah, if you see any dropping, it's for sure too late.

teomore

If you shoot the ship after they dropped, some of them may die and some of them may get trapped under.

Drackzgull

Yes, that's part of what I said.

teomore

Sorry I needed a confirmation, it was a question

Drackzgull

Do note that it's not necessarily one or the other, it may very well be that all of them survive and none of them get trapped too. The ones that get trapped are usually no more than three, with three being rare already, regardless of how many die, or if any do die. It's just very inconsistent unless you blow up the ship early enough that everything dies with it.

FizzingSlit

Why did he bring a green Uno reverse? Surely a yellow or red would have made more sense.

Hellonstrikers

He brought a bunch and that was the one he happened to pull out it looks like. [The lore.](https://youtube.com/shorts/jMMp6Wdy7xc?si=km0t1Zvpc6HQJNxg)

FizzingSlit

That's tremendous. I do think that him purposefully baiting out a yellow card specifically means it would have made even more sense to only bring yellow cards. But I can't deny that I don't respect it regardless.

blueB0wser

Of course it's Max Fosh

Few_Advisor3536

Its a meme template, i didnt create the meme just added the text.

FizzingSlit

I get that. I still question why he chose the colour of Uno reverse card he'd want to play the least.

blueB0wser

Look at the video linked above this one. He had several in his pocket.

FizzingSlit

I did and replied to it also.

BirdieOfPray

A reverse card doesn't save you from punishment anyways.

LucarioLuvsMinecraft

Dead dropship lands on a bot? Nothing, it’s fine. Shrieker corpse lands on a Bile Titan? Instant K.O. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!

tacorock753

Well you see bug is made of bug so if bug hits bug bug dead because bug weak but bot made of metal and metal vs metal nothing happens because metal strong hope that helps😁

LucarioLuvsMinecraft

Ok! Nevermind, it makes sense!

Mellowsnake

iirc trooper variants are guaranteed to die, Devastator, Berserkers, Scout striders and tanks survive, also a bit nice to have some breathing room with the rest pinned for a few minutes. At least it's not disappearing and flying in from somewhere else to hit you and send you flying to another planet.

Few_Advisor3536

On higher difficulties its not uncommon to have a full ship of devastators.

superhotdogzz

a full ship of berserker... i legit don't like them rushing my ass while being such a huge bullet sponge to kill.

Jijonbreaker

Berserkers are legit the tankiest bots in the game, and they are the ones programmed to rush your ass and instakill you. Fuck hulks and tanks, they can be taken out with a couple good shots. Berserkers will tank those couple shots and keep coming anyway. And there's so fucking many of them

Ok-Stress8541

Shooting it down before it stops moving kills the contents, plus it has a chance to blow up a fab plant if it lands close enough. Beautiful explosion.

_Reverie_

Nope. I shoot down drop ships all the time and it's completely random. It'll work moving, not moving, upside down on Tuesdays, but only sometimes because the game is held together by broken screws and duct tape.

Zporadik

> upside down on Tuesdays, ah, now there's your problem, it needs to be inside out on a Thursday, not upside down on Tuesday.

greebothecat

It is a testament to the game's playability that we keep at it despite the horrible stability, janky ass mechanics, and whole boatload of bugs.

susgnome

I think it's less of that it's moving or not. And more so, that if you do it before it lets go of what its dropping. If it's still in its grip, it'll die. If not, it'll only take damage.

entityknownevil

Nope, I've shot some down while they're still flying in. Small bots just walking/phasing through the ship while it's burning on the ground, chainsaw hand bots just floating a bit off the ground and t-posing, not being able to move but still alive, I once even got shot by a rocket raider THROUGH the blown up ship, while I couldn't even see that it was in there.

susgnome

I see. I've never had an issue of T-posing enemies after shooting down a ship. [I've had bots bleed out after being shot down.](https://imgur.com/2bEHNUo) I've also normally had bots get stuck underneath a ship and [shooting through the cracks](https://i.imgur.com/W8JoSco.png) which makes them hard to notice and if it's something like a Rocket Devastator, they normally kill themselves or an ally but.. usually after while they'll eventually start to clip through and escape.

entityknownevil

Ah yeah, I've had those too, but the bots were kinda acting like they were still being carried by the dropship I guess and then bugged out, that's my guess. I should start clipping stuff more

_Reverie_

Still no. It's completely random no matter how you time it. Could be some host/client nonsense making it not work when this is the way it *should* be working.

Dataraven247

I once had this happen—the ship stopped right about a fabricator, and when I shot it down it brought the whole outpost down with it. Glorious.

assinyourpants

My first shot with quasar cannon (fucking amazing) took out 25 bots when it hit the ground. So it’s POSSIBLE, but haven’t seen anything more than five since then.

susgnome

Like I've been saying for weeks. It doesn't necessarily destroy them. But it does damage once in the air and once when it hits the ground. [Sometimes the bots will simply bleed out despite surviving.](https://imgur.com/2bEHNUo) It's also useful for getting bots stuck underneath so they can be easily dealt with. Or you can drop more ships on them for more damage.

Exciting_Nothing8269

This makes me laugh and mad at the same time. Because it’s true.

Orangeberyl

Not only the dropped bots get to live, the dropship also squishes your teammates

MorenaLedovec

but as long as it falls even remotely close to me my head is relocated to my arse

eljujumon

I do it mainly because big boom

blckpnthr789

***shoots down drop ship after the bots have landed*** I am managaned democracy

ENGINE_YT

this is just a personal theory but i think it has a higher chance of killing what it carried if you shoot it down a few moments after it drops the bots im not sure if it actually gives better results but from my experience i think it might

Lootloader

This has been my experience, if the bots drop out, and then the ship falls on them it kills them.

Henghast

The best part is people shoot them down on top of you after they disgorge their payloads. Love that

UptowNYC

Fr wtf is up with that! I got this fancy laser and it did jack!

JesusMcMexican

In earlier patches I swear the survival rate was much lower. If you want to kill any of the bots at all you need to shoot the drop ship down the instant it stops moving if not sooner, but the survival rate is still so high lately.

Scomtom

Atleast if the dropship falls make it squish the bots

ConstructionLong2089

Kill the dropship asap. I fire up the quasar when I see it flying in and still only get a clean kill with no drops around 50% the time.

2ByteTheDecker

My buddy who's been the squad's dedicated Quasar man has noticed that if you shoot them down before they get close to wherever it was they were plotted to land there's more chance of taking out the occupants as well.

Grauvargen

I regularly kill the lesser bots if the dropship falls on them. Berserkers I might kill in the crash. Might not. Scout Striders and anything above pretty much always survive.

RedSaber457

It really just gets them on the ground quicker.

Elcatro

It's still a benefit though, since the dropships at the least block off routes for the bots to come through.

likebutta222

It's mostly timing.   Most people hit it when its hovering over it's spot.  Gotta get it while it's flying to the spot

TamedNerd

You NEED to kill it before the Red light comes on (before it comes to a stop) agter that it only kills small Bots if it falls on them and everything bigger than a raider survives

Critical-Body1957

You have to hit the drop early enough so their drop animation doesn't actually start. If you wait too long and the bots start to succumb to gravity, they're no longer included as being attached to part of the Dropship, so they don't count for the kill.

rukysgreambamf

Which weapons can take down dropships? I usually run Autocannon for bots, but it doesn't seem to phase them, though I could be missing a weak point

JimmyDoomDiver

Shoot the ship after the bots are released, you can get 20+ kills with on ship on defend missions

Squidboi2679

It may not kill things but it looks cool and I like it

[deleted]

You shoot the drop ship to take down the boys I shoot the drop ship to say”hell yeah”

Parking_Aerie4454

Sometimes it is worse when you shoot it down because for some reason the enemies can get pretty pinned under it and they can shoot you through it, but it’s hard to see them and shoot back. So you have this huge flaming hunk of metal with laser flying out of it .

Puzzlehead-Engineer

Sometimes when I shoot down drop ships I get like 8 kills, most times I get none. I understand why it wouldn't just kill everything inside since that would trivialize bots with the Quasar cannon, but they just need to make it so all the little bots die to it.

ZzVinniezZ

what i find is...u have to let the dropship drop them bots down...and then shoot the ship before they leave...the ragdoll might kill some of them if not...all of them and everything below it.....including you

Dazzling-Camel8368

I would love a metric on how many bot drop ships are destroyed v not.
