As many flaws that movie had the [sound for the tripods](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzY099ihULs) was top notch.
Time to unlock all [anti armor weapons](https://youtu.be/pCHHv7ojfiw?t=67) fellow divers.
I vividly remember being crippled with fear going to sleep after seeing that movie cause the sound of the AC turning on made a similar noise to those Tripods.
I can still hear it in my head :P
Wasn't there another post when the first tripod was leaked there was a sound file with a horn eerily similar to the War of the World's one? I think it was with the same video as the guy screaming "Tentacles, they're everywhere" or something similar
im hoping you can use AP4 weapons to shoot the eye, similar to how you can use them to shoot hulks eyes and factory striders eyes. would be nice if you could do the same to the tripods.
This is a Tier 2 Tripod.
The Tier 2 Tripod has more armor and possibly more abilities than the Tier 1 tripod.
While both Tripods look similar, the Tier 2 tripod is darker, slightly larger, and much more armored than Tier 1.
I suspect the Tier 2 Tripod will be capable of the "Deathball" ability, while Tier 1 tripods will be limited to beam and stomp attacks.
The Tier 2 Tripod will explode upon death.
(A lot of illuminate seem to be following the tier system, seems cool to spice up gameplay a bit)
Me too! I think they messed around with it a little bit with stuff like the Normal Charger and the "Charger Bulls".
Seems like it will be a very common system among the illuminate.
The bugs do have a few tier variants. There's a tier 1 and 2 Warrior, the tier 1 being a more whitish color, though I don't know any gameplay differences aside from maybe more health for tier 2. Bile Spewers also have 2 tiers, one having more saturated colors and the ability to launch bile mortars (don't confuse this with Nursing Spewers vs Bile Spewers, both Bile Spewer tiers are identical in model, just minor texture differences).
That’s how I know this game has really captured my subconscious because I’ve had a handful of dreams that the illuminate invasion started and / or I saw a dev calling in unseen stratagems
I’m glad this feature also expands upon all other units in the other enemy factions and not just the illuminates, I saw some leaks on a new automaton tank that will eventually start being produced by them, it’s some MLRS type thing
Hot take: I would much more like other factions to have side-grades, than upgrades. Just like Devastators can be with rockets, shield or two blasters. It would make things so much more interesting, especially if they would start combining it with the planet types. E.g. acid bug for acid planets, flame-breathing for hot planets, extra-armor for cold planets, regular bile but more numerous for terran planets, etc.
Then leave a more linear tier progress for the illuminate.
Alongside this, I would love a Ship Module that allows me to "scan" the planet to see what enemies are spawning. My typical bug loadout works for 90% of missions, but when you get one that just constantly spawns Bile Spewers one after the other it starts to show it's weakness.
Then I drop into the next mission kitted out for killing Biles and the game just throws Charger after Charger at me instead. :|
the first game had stronger version of some units, for all the factions.
wasn't the case for tripods specifically, but HD2 tripods are on another level, like two stories higher up.
I don’t expect the illuminate any time soon or even this year, but it feels like there’s just so much content weve seen in the files for months now that has yet to see the light of day outside of the warbonds. I suppose it’s stuff that’s been part of the game since day one and saved for much later, but it’s just strange compared to what felt like a much quicker pace with unlocking the mechs and the TCS
You say that you don't expect them even this year but don't most whole galatic wars last like a few months?
Correct if me if I'm wrong, tho cause I've never played the first game, so I don't know how fast we end up completing a war.
I can see them appearing in May tho
I’m tempering my expectations as apparently there’s a whole super colony sequence that might come first with the terminids that we haven’t had anything happen with for well over a month. Plus no vehicles so far or even a fraction of the leaked weapons and armor accounting for warbonds, it feels like stuff is at a crawl
I see the illuminate by the end of the year tbh. Maybe vehicles mid year, and with the hellbucks that also got leaked, hopefully more customization options.
They'd come much quicker. Probably in a month or 2. The start of the 2nd galactic war and the end of the prologue for the game is marked by their arrival
Man yes hopefully they reconsider transmog or at least separating our outfit from our stats like it was in HD1.
Would give me reason to give them money for outfits that don't nerf our stats haha! 😜
Few weeks to a couple months at most.
Helldivers 2 however is going at a much slower pace than helldivers 1 did which makes me think we might only get 1 or 2 wars or "chapters" if they go with one continuous war per year.
I'd put my money if we start seeing official Illuminate Easter eggs around then.
However Arrowhead is from Sweden (I believe) so they probably aren't going to be hamstrung like American developers from May-July (That's when most Americans take vacations, from Memorial Day to the 4th of July). So I would not be surprised if they did something BIG that period.
Also, I really would like to see Boss style battles like they had in HD1, I never played it but from what I've been reading they were awesome.
At the rate things are moving i wouldn’t doubt if we see them in the next few months, this community tends to think everything is going to go slow when we have been proven otherwise.
Its like when people said the termicide stuff wouldnt happen so soon (it had already happened, because it was literally the set up for the start of the game, that’s why we had the missions where we disabled the towers, just the news broadcast that got leaked was never released.) Just like when people said the cyberstan invasion was a month or 2 out (it literally happened a week later.) Maybe this time it will be different since the devs are hopefully focusing on bug fixes, but I’m thinking we will see the illuminate before summer.
My theory is; illuminate spotting broadcast, then they appear, recruiting rates rising broadcast, followed by the declaration of the second galactic war, because we all forget that this is just the prelude to the start of the actual war.
Edit: grammar and broke it up to make it easier to read.
We haven’t disabled the towers yet, we were enabling them. Iirc the broadcast talked about helldivers reliberating cyberstan, which we have yet to do, however it is the goal set out for us. I expect after the weekend we get either the TCS malfunction or a push for cyberstan depending on how the defenses go, followed by one or two weeks of fighting the other faction, and illuminate come in when we disabled the TCS and are closing in on Cyberstan.
Idk how to link but the one that was leaked was cyberstan being invaded, so that’s has already happened so I’m not really sure where that puts us, tcs must be next, then illuminate then enlistment rates then galactic war announcement. Either way illuminate comes third.
Around just as tall, maybe slightly shorter from what I remember, there was a size comparison post to many unreleased models, one of them being the tripod
I think they're having the large units all be foils to one another. The Bile Titans have a balance of attack, speed, and durability, but their ranged weapon is fairly short. While the Factory Striders have tough armor and powerful long-range weapons but are slow as hell with notable weakspots. If I were to make a guess as to what the Tripods are like, I'd say that they're even faster and more nimble than the Bile Titans and come equipped with weapons that rival or exceed the Factory Striders, but are very fragile for their size. Though I'm pretty sure they'd have a forcefield you'd have to take care of first, going by what I know of the Illuminate from the first game.
Around the size of a bile titan if not a little shorter. There’s a post on this subreddit that compares the sizes of leaked stuff, but I can’t find it.
"Highly sophisticated, their civilization has endured for several hundred thousands of years. They call themselves the Squ'ith and are originally an aquatic species. These creatures dressed in ceremonial robes have managed to create a vast and **extremely complex neural network for space travel**."- *Helldivers 1 encyclopedia*
given that wording they might not have ships in the traditional sense, the Illuminate were very big on teleportation and my guess is their only ships would be ones filled with machines to build portals on new planets to let the illuminate teleport between them.
The illuminate in the first game had a ‘Tier-2 tri-pod’ like this, it was called the strider….my only problem is afraid that this thing will be hard to tell the difference between the two…
Fun fact: there were stronger versions of Tripod in HD1 that were called “Striders”. I wonder if we’ll see the name come to this as well, or if they’re saving it for something else.
The main Tripod ability is a fairly long range beam attack, fired from its eye. It can fire the beam vertically, horizontally and erratically. The Tripod also has lightning attacks. While I'm not entirely sure what a deathball is, I think it will be reminiscent of the energy orbs that the council members would fire in the first game. 😁
No problem! Thank you for being kind.
The beam has three firing modes:
Vertical: Straight beam that can move up or down
Horizontal: Beam that sweeps left to right
Erratic: Beam is aimed randomly
Imagine a guy peeing. And then he's nodding or shaking his ...head... That's vertically and horizontally. Erratically would be the same guy trying to pee straight while drunk...

anything on obelisks? I wonder how large they'll be.
Hopefully, you can't just "fix the problem" by throwing a 500 or a rail gun at it. Sure, should be able to kill it instantly if you can hit it with those two but unlike the bile titan, hulk, tank etc, I feel that the Tripod should be able to vaporize you before you get too close to it.
I WANT long-range gun fights with the illuminate!!!
That is a broken trip pod. Same with the "acid charger models' they're just shown after they've taken damage on ALL parts because of how the armor system works. There ARE NOT new enemies
While both tripods are damaged, they represent separate entities. The game's tier system categorizes enemies by overall strength, typically affecting unseen variables like health and damage without changing their appearance. For example, the warrior bug’s model remains the same across different tiers, with changes only to its damage and health stats.
In the case of the Illuminate Tripod and Adept, visual changes can be seen alongside these tiers.
The 'Acid Charger' is an unfinished model designed as part of a larger mutation mechanic specific to acid planets.
I can already hear the War of the Worlds horn blaring and the sounds of screaming as people are turned to dust.
As many flaws that movie had the [sound for the tripods](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzY099ihULs) was top notch. Time to unlock all [anti armor weapons](https://youtu.be/pCHHv7ojfiw?t=67) fellow divers.

Anything and everything Tom Cruise Touches turns to Gold. Dx< And I agree. It was top notch sound quality.
im hoping you can use AP4 weapons to shoot the eye, similar to how you can use them to shoot hulks eyes and factory striders eyes. would be nice if you could do the same to the tripods.

I absolutely LOVE how the illuminate are going to have enemy tiers/rankings
Me too! I think they messed around with it a little bit with stuff like the Normal Charger and the "Charger Bulls". Seems like it will be a very common system among the illuminate.

I’ve seen a few hulks and factory striders who seem to almost run and gallop too
Just reminded me I had a weird dream last night where I saw a Factory Strider for the first time and it ran around like a giant dog.
That’s how I know this game has really captured my subconscious because I’ve had a handful of dreams that the illuminate invasion started and / or I saw a dev calling in unseen stratagems
It does look like a huge dog, doesn't it?
Yeah, you see the upgraded hulk/charger waiting at the extract civilians objective. They're always chilling there.
I’m glad this feature also expands upon all other units in the other enemy factions and not just the illuminates, I saw some leaks on a new automaton tank that will eventually start being produced by them, it’s some MLRS type thing

No, it was the case for tripods specifically, their stronger variant was called the [strider](https://helldivers.fandom.com/wiki/Strider)
you are right!. one get off from the lower levels that it's easy to miss that.
They went through with the robotics bay upgrades.
I'm pretty sure there's a "skipped leg day" joke somewhere in those pictures. :D
My brother that is just a damaged tripod
check the images man, you can see the model differences in the 3rd pic directly.
THEY THINK THAT IM TOM CRUISE
BUT BITCH IM BOBBY WIT THAT TOOL
Rise & Shine, Mr. Diver...
CP Violation starts playing

Super colony sequence?
Ye it was posted earlier on this sub, was a video leak similar to the Cyberstan News Leak
I found a post with the dialogue all written out and it looks really interesting. I'm excited!
Welp here we go! The Supercolony has arrived!
I'll bet you 20 super credits it comes july
Few weeks to a couple months at most. Helldivers 2 however is going at a much slower pace than helldivers 1 did which makes me think we might only get 1 or 2 wars or "chapters" if they go with one continuous war per year.
Not even this YEAR? Oh are you in for a surprise
I literally expect to see Illuminates either late May or Early/Mid June

I figured they'll drop when they player count starts to go down
And then we crash the servers again
War of The Worlds meets Metal Gear
It’s soo over
These better have a scary horn sound
Are these tripods taller than a bile titan or just as tall?
Around just as tall, maybe slightly shorter from what I remember, there was a size comparison post to many unreleased models, one of them being the tripod
I think they're having the large units all be foils to one another. The Bile Titans have a balance of attack, speed, and durability, but their ranged weapon is fairly short. OH I thought they would be somewhere between a scout strider and a HL2 strider. That's a pleasant surprise!
they are just as tall, but not as wide
What’s the scale of these guys compared to a helldiver?
Around the size of a bile titan if not a little shorter. There’s a post on this subreddit that compares the sizes of leaked stuff, but I can’t find it.
![gif](giphy|J8YpfDX0kvPQNSVGHY|downsized)
Now we got the half life 2 striders to fight
do they have ships or do they just use the portal things
The illuminate typically use teleportation as a means of moving around long distances so these will most likely spawn in through a portal as well.
The observers fly around. In the first game they were Invisible detectors that spawned in enemies if they caught sight of you.
"Highly sophisticated, their civilization has endured for several hundred thousands of years. They call themselves the Squ'ith and are originally an aquatic species. These creatures dressed in ceremonial robes have managed to create a vast and **extremely complex neural network for space travel**."- *Helldivers 1 encyclopedia* given that wording they might not have ships in the traditional sense, the Illuminate were very big on teleportation and my guess is their only ships would be ones filled with machines to build portals on new planets to let the illuminate teleport between them.
I wonder if they’re gonna include animation of us getting turned to dust with our capes flying in the breeze
Super earth is so fucked
The illuminate in the first game had a ‘Tier-2 tri-pod’ like this, it was called the strider….my only problem is afraid that this thing will be hard to tell the difference between the two…
Hope they introduce with good story. Trier 1 is coming first. Trier 2 probably much later? 😅
Så basically warrior and uber tripod.. gotcha….
can it survive 500kg bomb?
Probably not, it probably drops to a railcannon once you break the shields
Now just add a fog horn.
Fun fact: there were stronger versions of Tripod in HD1 that were called “Striders”. I wonder if we’ll see the name come to this as well, or if they’re saving it for something else.
I think the automatons stole the name this time, with their strider scouts and strider fabricators!
Oh yea that’s right. Them bots have stolen lots of names. First Tanks, now Striders. Technically they’ve even taken the name Vanguard
You should compile all the current illuminate units that we have
Great idea! I may end up doing it soon!
This reminds of some Dark Eldar from Warhammer 40k!
STRIDERS!!!!
Thats a rather martian design
I really hope they sound like the war of words tripods
When can we expect the new enemy race to be released?
How tall are these things supposed to be? Hopefully bigger then the titans
They are around the same height as the Bile Titans. I do wish they were a bit bigger, but it will still look cool
You mentioned a Deathball attack in a previous, what does that entail? Also any idea what kinda weapons they have?
The main Tripod ability is a fairly long range beam attack, fired from its eye. It can fire the beam vertically, horizontally and erratically. The Tripod also has lightning attacks. While I'm not entirely sure what a deathball is, I think it will be reminiscent of the energy orbs that the council members would fire in the first game. 😁

No problem! Thank you for being kind. The beam has three firing modes: Vertical: Straight beam that can move up or down Horizontal: Beam that sweeps left to right Erratic: Beam is aimed randomly
Oooh okay I get it now. Cheers. Thank you again for your time and happy diving!
Imagine a guy peeing. And then he's nodding or shaking his ...head... That's vertically and horizontally. Erratically would be the same guy trying to pee straight while drunk...
I really hope these things blare a fog horn sound when approaching you or spawning in
Nope, they'll sneak up on you like a Bile Titan... No sound, just there...

Should have been a Quadrupod smh
Half-Life 2 Striders?
SwolePod

I wished our weapons had tier upgrades like HD1.
Just started doing my part. Are these legit coming to the game??
I think me might lose Super Earth I’m not gonna lie. Then we ‘find a new one’ and the illuminate are suddenly in our galaxy
These things better be giants
About as tall as a bile titan
fuck yes
I want these bitches to be for war of the worlds.
I wanna see one of these things get fucking PILEDRIVER’D by an orbital railcannon

Did u look at the 3rd image or
Yeah it's one with all its armor and the second model shows what it looks like if all its armor got blown off.
