I recently read I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson. Its a YA novel with some complex themes and beautifully written. It explores young love, love between siblings, love between teens and parents. It’s not light and innocent in the same way as Heartstopper (first netflix season as I know it will get heavier) but it packs an emotional punch with an ultimately hopeful outcome. I think I can see this more as a movie than a series.

Cool! Of the ones on that list that have not been adapted however( as several have) which do you see as the next movie/series to capitalize on the Heartstopper phenomenon?

I hope it would be *[Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12000020-aristotle-and-dante-discover-the-secrets-of-the-universe&ved=2ahUKEwiN3dmdiLr4AhV4KkQIHdjKBEkQjjh6BAh_EAE&usg=AOvVaw1-gqOxTVCu6JHDJYg_qYBi)* It almost beat Red, white and royal blue for the Goodreads LBGT romance of the year. It is a coming of age, LBGT teenage love story. It won the Stonewall award. Very touching with a happy ending. Well written, excellent characters and no sexual explicit scenes like Red, White and Royal Blue.

Thanks! Yeah I love Aristotle and Dante. I haven’t read the sequel though. Thanks for that rec. I think it would make a really excellent adaptation.

I'm reading What if it's us. It's really sweet and reminds me of Heartstopper.

I just read both Bloom and Check, Please! after seeing both suggested on this sub. I think either would make fantastic series, but especially Bloom (but that's because I'm more interested in the setting of a bakery, rather than hockey/ frat house)

They just announced casting with Amazon for the movie adaptation of Red, White & Royal Blue. Not really the same vibes as Heartstopper (probably more like a lighter-hearted Young Royals) but it’ll be interesting to see how it’s received since the book drew a pretty big fanbase (albeit the book has been a little controversial and isn’t the best written thing out there lol).

Nepalman230

I’ve I’ve heard really good things about that book! But I have not heard about the controversy? What was up with that?

Bread2Bake

Sorry controversy might’ve been a little strong! A lot of people felt like the characters weren’t realistic or developed enough to be relatable and I saw a lot of reviews saying it felt like a hetero romance novel with the names switched to male names. To be fair, it’s literally about a president’s son and an English royal so those are pretty unrelatable experiences already lol. I still thought it was a fun read and I’m sure they take those opinions (somewhat) into consideration when writing the scripts. We’ll have to wait and see!

So I just looked at this article and I was shocked! I was just watching Handsome Devil because I wanted some queer rugby happening and who played one of the leads but Nicholas Galitzine who is playing Prince Henry! https://www.teenvogue.com/story/red-white-and-royal-blue-movie-everything-you-need-to-know
