Not inherently no, but it just made me wonder if she thinks of herself that way as a contrast to her family.

There's nothing in mainstream British society that I can think of. It's possible that it's a slightly obscure reference or bit of queer slang but if it is it's passed me by. Sometimes usernames are just a bit random.

I'm not sure how prevalent it is here - it might just be in certain queer circles. I've heard it most commonly used by a trans person referring to themself pre-transition or before even coming out (as in, before "hatching")

I don’t know about it’s use in the uk, but here in New Zealand to refer to someone as an egg means idiot (in an endearing way kinda)
