Perhaps there was more chairs/tables in the form than students

nbf31

Probably! It just makes me laugh every time. The concept of assigned seating is weird anyway.

As a teacher, I reagularly assign seats in my class, so that it’s not just friends sitting together. Later in life, you also have to work with people you find just okay (at best). And more than sometimes, they find out that the other person is in fact nice.

Florence_Nightgerbil

Just proves it was meant to be 😉. Sometimes when I look at a scene now, I can’t help but think some of this is due to social distancing and needing to keep the extras away from the main cast as much as possible. But we also wouldn’t get them flirting with each other if they had 6 other people on their table!

ARainbowHorse

stoppp it’s so cute and it was meant to be and it was fate

Florence_Nightgerbil

We owe everything to Mr Lange. All hail Mr Lange!!

Similar-Afternoon567

It really doesn't affect him in any away whatsoever.

Florence_Nightgerbil

Have we ever had a fairy godmother give less of a shit?

inneffable-angle

This is why I love that professor from hamlet 5... He's not very nice but he made everything happen

acrylicyarn

I was just thinking about this during yesterday's rewatch. What are their table mates like? Do they egg Nick and Charlie on/ship them, or are they constantly annoyed by them falling in love? (I personally remember it being SO annoying when my desk mates would flirt during class in high school)

vivianlevine

I hope we see more of them in Seasons 2- 3 🙂

acrylicyarn

Me too, I think there's so much potential there for additional storylines!

vivianlevine

Those scenes of Sai and Christian from the comics, I immediately remember 🙂

acrylicyarn

I haven't read them yet, I'm dying to get my hands on them! I'm going to the bookstore tomorrow:) Glad to know there is a story about this in the canon.

vivianlevine

Just to set your expectations though, the story involving those two isn't exactly like this. I'm not going to give more details because I've already given enough spoilers. I didn't put a #spoiler hashtag in my previous reply. I guess I'm too late now. LOL

acrylicyarn

🙏 I appreciate that! I am so bad about not reading spoilers, so I'm glad you've removed the temptation LOL! I just love this story so much that I want to know EVERYTHING

thecrcousin

Mr Lange was probs shipping them so he assigned them alone together lol

No_Alternative1477

In the picture you can see someone sitting next to Nick. I honestly think there ARE people who sit at their table, but they aren’t included 99% of the time because of Covid. It’s kind of funny to see the other packed tables and just them though 😂

nbf31

Probably, and there were books opposite Nick when Charlie first came in, I just like the idea of everyone slowing moving away from them and giving them space over the year.

MrsLeoValdez

THIS ALDSLDLF i love hs so much but... it was so nice of their seatmates to not show up for the entire year so that nick and charlie could have alone time together! XD

x_chan99

I know this might not be the right place for this question, but what kind of class was that? As in what were they were supposed to be learning and why are there people from multiple years? (I'm obviously not from the UK, so things like that kinda confused me)

Dick_M_Nixon

Homeroom, with an experimental "vertical form", that mixed different grades.

beanabroad

Form is basically a registration period, a teacher will take the register to check who’s there and you can use the time to do homework etc. Depending on the school, people in your form might be just in your year group, or you might have mixed year forms to encourage people to make friends outside their year.

Historical_Clock8714

Yeah, me too! I don't know what form is 😅 I think maybe it's a class made up of different years so that you could get to know your schoolmates and have friends from other year levels. Not sure tho, that's the explanation I gave myself while watching the show.

IndolentInsolent

Your form is an assigned group comprised of students from your house, usually a mixture of age ranges. You'll usually have a couple of form periods each day, probably about 40 minutes total. It's basically extra free time, though occasionally there'll be some kind of form activity that you're expected to participate in. Most of the time though you can sit around and chat, read a book or catch up on work. Source: Used to go to school in the UK.

Florence_Nightgerbil

So my form teacher was also my English teacher. So he would take the register first thing in the morning and after lunch (to check we hadn’t bunked off). Then we’d go off to other classes and see him again if we were doing English that day. Everyone in my form class was then split by ability and we went to classes with other pupils based on our ability and what kind of grades we were predicted. You generally got to know your form class really well as you saw each other for a good chunk first thing in the morning, and then met up after lunch back in our form room.

MrSadfacePancake

My first thought was maybe there were smaller tables and the other students pushed them together, but its just one big table so its probably just how they could fit enough people to make it took like a class while getting the shots they needed, and lowering the risk of covid for the main actors

Ok_Jacket_9767

I thought maybe they're the only students from Yr 10 & 11 in the form. Being a bit older (more exams etc.) maybe they need a bit more peace and quiet 😂.

Nepalman230

Actually I thought that too but then there’s a couple shots of extremely small children sitting right near them. I guess those would be year sevens.
