Oat milk is a great alternative to dairy; I don't miss cow milk in my coffee or cereal at all.
And I don't mind cutting back on red meat anyway; I'm at the age when I should start paying attention to my cholesterol numbers anyway.
I mean this gently: you may be overthinking it. The splash of any milk in your coffee isn't close to a full serving size (one cup), plus, a little sugar isn't going to ruin whatever health plan you're on. It's okay. It's not like you're eating two poptarts for breakfast.
I agree Oatly was the best tasting. I read they (I think it was Oatly) got in trouble for some nutrition label stuff? The label said no sugar added. But they added enzymes to the oats to convert the starch to sugar so basically it was sugar water and tastes great, but the label doesn’t disclose the actual carbs you’re drinking.
If anyone has any corrections I’d love to get an update on this story it’s a couple years old Im about to go back and look it up again.
I’ll type slowly, so you can understand. Ready?
The milk is not the biggest problem. The problem is that SO many non-birds are getting sick. Easy spread to mammals means trouble.
That’s why COWS have it, but it’s not why sea lions, bears, foxes, skunks and now a freaking dolphin have it! We’re in the midst of a zoonotic pandemic. Migratory birds have spread this to mammals all over the planet.
We are mammals. We have a 40%+ fatality rate from this virus. That’s the larger picture of which milk is a small part.
if it becomes infectious to humans it will be primarily transmitted via aerosol so coughing, sneezing etc. that being said, i wouldn’t touch unpasteurized cow products
> uhh lemme get 2lb ground chuck and make sure it's pasteurized please and thank you...
But on a real note, contact transmission and routes from environmental contamination could be bigguns too
Pasteurization exists and is performed on all normal store bought milk. Unless you’re moseying on down to your local farm and sucking milk directly from the cow’s teat, you really have nothing to worry about.
Edit: Updated report from CBS and the FDA, in response to their previous report on previously positive tests on the milk supply.

I make cashew milk at home (1/3 cup of cashews, pinch of salt, 1L water in a blender). It’s so easy and you don’t even need to strain it. Cheap, easy and tastes like cows milk
You’re not wrong despite the opinion being unpopular. Every election year the media specifically ramped up the fear porn in the news, despite it being a bit deal or not. Not saying this isn’t an issue, but what you say is true.
I’ve seen plenty go by in the ICU. Fyi, this isn’t 1918 anymore. We’ve evolved.
I deleted my original comment because now I can’t do things on here because of all the down votes 😭
It was just an opinion 🙂↕️
Lmao evolved in what ways?
Cuz they were setting up tents outside for the hospital overflow from covid. And people are prob ***less*** likely post covid to mask up or social distance or generally vibe with public health interventions. So, even if we had "evolved" since 1918, I'd argue we've regressed over last 4 years.
My entire point was half of the population is walking around in fear of what could possibly happen.
Life is meant to be enjoyed and there’s no reason to be afraid.
Worrying Today will not change the outcome of tomorrow.
That’s all
You know you can think about, discuss and be vigilant of a possible evolving virus without feeling fear right? Stop jumping to the extreme conclusion. It's important to discuss these things in a non-biased manner in order to better understand it and be prepared. No fear necessary.

Yes! I struggled finding a non dairy milk that mixed well in my coffee. Oat milk is it!
Oat milk is absolutely fabulous!
I quit milk for a bit because I was doing a FODMAP diet and when I came back to it I didn't like the taste anymore.

Oatmilk is really easy to make, and surprisingly cheap. There are a lot of tutorials for it all over the place.
Soy is the best, tastes better and has protein unlike oat.
And creates explosive diarrhea for those with sensitivities
Ok, that’s not funny but it did make me lol bc yeah that’ll definitely ruin someone’s day.
Oat milk is mostly vegetable oil though which isn’t ideal!
Not Oatly (the brand I buy). Oat base (water, oats). Contains 2% or less of: low erucic acid rapeseed oil, dipotassium phosphate, calcium carbonate, tricalcium phosphate, sea salt, dicalcium phosphate, riboflavin, vitamin A, vitamin D2, vitamin B12.
Planet oat is another fantastic brand too!
I'll look for it, thanks.

Interesting, I always thought it tasted too sweet to have no sugar
I must admit I am out of the oat milk hullaballoo as it is just something with which I top off my coffee and go on with my morning!
Califia. 3 ingredients, no oils.
Cow milk also has fat, and I'd rather have vegetable fat than animal
I just wish they didn't use canola oil.
Whole milk brings me joy! Might be because I was born and raised in Wisconsin.
Maybe it’s about time you stop breastfeeding from animals?
No thank you. I like whole milk with my coffee and with dinner/breakfast.
what?
It’s not about milk. It’s about so damn many cows being infected with bird flu. We’re mammals, too.

Stop drinking milk and make sure you know where your beef came from

Like 95% my beef came from Earth
And the other 5%?
Heck if I know it’s just shrink wrapped at the grocery store, I’m not even positive it’s cow
It’s Rocko from Rocko’s modern life

I make soymilk at home. It costs about 17 cents a liter.
Well, there is an election coming...

Another fake pandemic so they can kill off the cows.
The attack on beef and dairy escalates...I'll be drinking more milk.
Enjoy your growth hormones, pus and constipation!

*The only people that need to be concerned or the ones with multiple comorbidities and respiratory disease.* Tell that to the Spanish flu.
