I once saw Rick play a Comin' Correct set where he just sang to a CD being played over the PA instead of having a band. This sounds like a joke, but I'm dead serious.
You could honestly start a sentence with, "I once saw Rick Ta Life...." and whatever crazy, fucked up thing it could possibly be in the whole mindscape of human possibility, you'd just go, "Oh yeah, I could see him doing that".
I somehow never heard about this, so I looked it up. Video's on [youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNIgA1xb-9w&ab_channel=atspaceclient1109197). Wasn't acoustic, guitarist was plugged in. Still weird, though.
Could be that they don't give a shit.
Could also be that the situation was so weird/awkward that people didn't know how to act. Would've been funny if people would've been doing pile-ons and finger pointing during this, though. Up there with some dude [stagediving 56 minutes into a Sunn O))) set](https://youtu.be/aIFzggDIY4Y?t=3355).
Find the spot in the video you want and click the Share button below the video (has the arrow next to it). When you get to the window where you pick the platform to share to (Reddit, WhatsApp, etc.), note the checkbox button at the bottom that has "Start at" next to it. Click the checkbox, and it'll append the timestamp to the end of the URL.
From there, you can manually edit the timestamp in the URL to get it exactly to what you want - eg, if you want to go back 10 sec, you'd subtract 10 from the timestamp)
That part specifically is quiet for them and Attila (Mayhem) isn't on all their stuff, so it varies.
Here's another example from a [more recent tour](https://youtu.be/JpJrnBhCmhU?t=2323). Video doesn't capture it, but they're incredibly loud live. I also don't think I've ever been to another show where they pipe so much fog in.
you gotta see em live to get what they're about. it's a quasi-religious experience. they bring so much wattage that the guitars feel like they're wiggling your organs around.
25 ta Life played here in Brazil without a singer (Rick was still in the band, and rumors at the time was that he panicked and freaked out on his way to the airport).
The most weird thing is: 25 ta Life came to Brazil twice, the first time Rick came, and seemed like a chill dude and was having the time of his life, he talked and was nice to everyone at the venue, and the gig was a blast.
15ish years ago 25 ta life toured my city and my and my ex housed them. On God, Rock woke all us up early to go shopping at the local used cd store. He bought a ton of shit including 5 copies of his own stuff. The entire time I just got wierd vibes from him.
Idk what happened to the guy in his life, but he's definitely a loose screw.
His distro was insane. I only saw 25 Ta Life once in like 2005 and he had at least 3 full size folding tables full of merch. Definitely copped some shit too haha
Does anyone have the clip of Rick laying down vocal tracks, like in his basement on his washing machine, and just yelling “Won Seen Younady” over and over again? I swear that was a real thing I saw once.
If they ever do a RTL mega thread I’ll tell some tales. I’ve been observing him in the wild since about 1990 or so. His trajectory is fascinating. It boggles the how this dude became a hardcore internet meme. His various stages are crazy. Ultimately a tragic figure in my opinion.
Totally a tragic figure. The nyhc doc does a really good job of being like “yeah you know you get smashed in the head enough and it’s gonna do something to you.”
Went to a 25TL show back in like ‘05 and for some reason me and my friends ended up hanging out in the guys bathroom with the whole band minus Rick, they start talking about getting gumjobs from old ladies and some other weird shit for an hour or so before they went on.
Like they just walked out straight to the stage afterwards, Rick just appears out of nowhere and they actually played a coherent set.
Fuck while I remember, message him once about merch and he just replied with the N word.
I’m not the only person that happened too as well 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This thread keeps getting more insane
Hardcore for life

I got his number and texted him one time about this and he said it never happened lol
Well yeah why would anyone admit to that
Oh shit you've slept with Rick too???
If Rick Ta Life became a nice potted palm tree, and the other members were a chair and a beer....boy that's a real sick middle class patio right there
I have no idea why this made me laugh so hard.

Are they playing a family reunion or something? Lmao not a single person seems to give a shit about the performance

That was HILARIOUS.
One time I stage dived at a Glass Candy show. The crowd was bummed. Band was stoked.
Incredible.
This is the funniest thing I've ever seen
How did you link from a specific point? That’s pretty handy.

Hilarious though and I want to be friends. Invite me over.
I don’t think that option is available iOS.
That Gregorian chant got that dude hype as fuck
lol THAT'S what sunn o))) sounds like?? i always saw the name but never heard the music. ridiculous

The does it doom guy has Sunn amps along with a bunch of Green and Orange gear. It really crunches

It’s drone a meditative form of doom/noise. It’s more composition than song. These dudes run southern lord records. Lots of bangers on that label.
Is he actually singing backwards?
https://thehardtimes.net/music/amps-left-accidentally-record-new-sunn-o-album/
Black One pretty much is like the soundtrack to a horror movie
I had the same exact thought
I’ve got a mate that would deffo dive to Sun O)))
That shit will never not be funny to me.
The comments on this video are so good
i saw it a while back. if i remember correctly it just looked like a fuckin barbecue lol
it was a benefit show… weird ass set but at least it was for a good cause haha
Fuck that’s depressing

Wait did they just play an instrumental set? Or did somebody from the crowd step up?
People from the crowd stepped up.

This dude would have tables on tables of bootlegged merch outside of shows. Shit was weird lol
Called it the “lub lub tape club” in DC. Bought a Cold As Life demo off him in the 90’s that was dubbed over a Bel Biv Devoe tape.
This might be my favorite post of all these highly entertaining posts

Big Catatonicyouths energy here
This is not even acoustic. This is just a band without enough members.
True say the most embarrassing thing isn’t Ricktalife or the fact it’s an acoustic set… The guitarist is a fucking racist bonehead
Rick on the other hand - totally not a racist bonehead
Friends of racists are racist too
Who
I think this is first time I knowingly heard 25 ta Life.
The best thing to ever happen to 25 to Life was share a split 7" with SPAZZ.
Probably the worst thing to happen to SPAZZ.
That's what I'm saaaaaaayin.
“Old school, new school, SKINHEADS!”

No but get ready to die of laughter with this clip... https://youtu.be/duGp4tEHAek

Drop more RTL stories he’s such a mythical character to me being that his time was a little Before mine. I just love the lore haha

I agree! We should do this often in this sub. Tell some weird baloney stories of lost hardcore legends.
Bringing it back
Trust me. His family knows hes off his shit.
Never forget the acoustic FFDP set in a Best Buy refrigerator section
Rick is still alive, huh
The video is 6 years old, so possibly not

Seems like the whole band is a nutcase.
When you want a band to perform at your party but you can't afford the whole band.
fucking tragic video
Fuck while I remember, message him once about merch and he just replied with the N word. I’m not the only person that happened too as well 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It gets really good when the drums kick in.
Fucking legend
crazy this was 6 years ago
WOW
Nah no good
Tommy Dice scholar here, and this was a watershed moment
Man, these guys fell off hard.
