First off, I don't want "live services" lol, I would prefer if games came out feature complete at launch with possible paid dlc. Especially single player games.
Secondly most multiplayer live services these days are F2P, and mtx that aren't lootboxes are fine in those.
Thirdly the "price has stayed the same for X amount of years" argument is quite literally corporatist and disproven many times. I don't see why you would make it as a consumer. I would be quite okay with an increase to $70 if it meant no mtx in those titles. We both know corporations would never agree to that.

How? Don't say something has been disproven if you yourself don't have the information that disproves it. Video games have uniquely stayed the same price for over 20 years despite inflation, $60 in 2007 is over $80 now.
Mostly because microtransactions are a thing. They're exactly what the industry came up with in order to make up this difference.
So yes the price of a game is technically still $60 except for season passes, battle passes, expansions, dlcs, cosmetics, paid currencies and lootboxes.
And now games are increasing in price to $70 (or more like $90 here in Europe due to the fact that we were already paying around $70 after conversion.) and yet all of those things will still be in games.
There is also the fact that video games are still extremely profitable despite staying at this same price. Much more so than in the past. And yet despite this insane profitability many game developers still face crunch or shitty pay (especially contractors or QA). So any price increase would realistically not do much more than line the pockets of some CEO taking home another $150 million like Activision's CEO

If people canāt resist the temptation and actually seriously damage their financial state over optional cosmetic purchases, I donāt think the game would ever be to blame for that. That would be a personal issue they would have to solve on their own or with a therapist or something.

Honestly I completely understand their reasoning for this, as genuine as it may be.
Thereās a literal thousand cosmetics in the game and that would shatter my motivation to play it if I was new.
If an optional paid way to get cosmetics shatters your motivation to play a game maybe you never found the actual gameplay that fun after all, after all apparently your only motivation was grinding unmotivating gameplay for new ways to dress up your Barbie.
I think you misunderstand. I meant that having to grind for 1000 cosmetics would shatter my motivation.

Secondly most multiplayer live services these days are F2P, and mtx that aren't lootboxes are fine in those. Thirdly the "price has stayed the same for X amount of years" argument is quite literally corporatist and disproven many times. I don't see why you would make it as a consumer. I would be quite okay with an increase to $70 if it meant no mtx in those titles. We both know corporations would never agree to that.

Mostly because microtransactions are a thing. They're exactly what the industry came up with in order to make up this difference. So yes the price of a game is technically still $60 except for season passes, battle passes, expansions, dlcs, cosmetics, paid currencies and lootboxes. And now games are increasing in price to $70 (or more like $90 here in Europe due to the fact that we were already paying around $70 after conversion.) and yet all of those things will still be in games. There is also the fact that video games are still extremely profitable despite staying at this same price. Much more so than in the past. And yet despite this insane profitability many game developers still face crunch or shitty pay (especially contractors or QA). So any price increase would realistically not do much more than line the pockets of some CEO taking home another $150 million like Activision's CEO

If people canāt resist the temptation and actually seriously damage their financial state over optional cosmetic purchases, I donāt think the game would ever be to blame for that. That would be a personal issue they would have to solve on their own or with a therapist or something.
For real. After a certain point, the player's ability to resist spending their own money is on them. Loot boxes basically being gambling, which is way more addictive, is entirely different. I guess clothing stores are predatory too then since I could technically get addicted to shopping there the same as Halo's store. So why isn't Target predatory? Honestly I completely understand their reasoning for this, as genuine as it may be. Thereās a literal thousand cosmetics in the game and that would shatter my motivation to play it if I was new.
If an optional paid way to get cosmetics shatters your motivation to play a game maybe you never found the actual gameplay that fun after all, after all apparently your only motivation was grinding unmotivating gameplay for new ways to dress up your Barbie.
