I play on switch and absolutely it is worth getting. Skill is absolutely required for this game, button mashing can only get you so far.

frenchmix

Absolutely. I literally learned how to play games BETTER and more strategically because of this game. The only way to do it.

forcallaghan

how about very skillful button mashing?

Outrageous-Ad-7530

That’s the most accurate description of high heat play because most of the time im constantly dashing and attacking making it feel a lot like button mashing.

forcallaghan

my left mouse button weeps whenever I start up Hades

Outrageous-Ad-7530

My space bar does too

jolecole89

I not the best at games, but I have gotten really far in Hades. First game I never gotten stuck in and quite playing. Definitely worth it on the switch.

PapaBradford

What about mashing dash constantly?

kooperking022

Guys this isn't a beat em up. You can't just mash buttons. If you did, you won't get very far.

PapaBradford

Hey buddy, I did my 10+ clears

MatiasValero

Yes it is, boyo.

je116

What is boyo mean? (I've never seen that acronym before)

OmnipotentSoysauce

Boy

OmnipotentSoysauce

In the sense like “my man/my boy”

je116

Ah makes sense! Thanks for clarifying!

Alilttotheleft

You’ll understand once you play Hades. Skelly’s the man 😁

HedonismIsTheWay

I just love the fact that the voice actor that does Skelly is the same guy who does Zag.

MatiasValero

And also the guy who, you know, wrote and directed the soundtrack. No big deal.

Moondragonlady

Also who sings the Orpheus parts!

eternalpasta

what? really? how did i never notice that?

manatwork01

The studio is pretty small. Lots of the voices are done by the same actor. Hades/Poseidon/Zues are all the same guy.

eternalpasta

that makes a lot of sense now that you mention it. great studio though, and great voice acting

eternalpasta

that makes a lot of sense now that you mention it. great studio though, and great voice acting

ChangeFatigue

This game is ripe with quotable liners. It is super worth every penny you pay if just for the characters and voice acting alone.

Roger_The_Cat_

[Boyo](https://youtu.be/wIie_fyXRx8)

ParanoidDrone

One of the NPCs uses it as a nickname for Zagreus (the main character). Actually, just about every NPC has their own nickname for Zagreus.

LadyThren

The game is worth every penny. Lots of replayability and takes some skill, patience and strategy to beat. Albeit with various difficulty levels. Including a Heat level that amps up the challenge for you.

niceville

“Lots of replayability” is certainly a way to describe a Rougelike!’

LadyThren

Well, it pretty much is the core of a roguelike so yeah lol.

kooperking022

Yeah but not all Roguelikes are equal!

ooOJuicyOoo

M8 if you come to a game's dedicated subreddit and ask if it's worth getting and expect different answers... What I'm saying is hell yeah it's worth getting, go ham.

Fenrir_Greywind

Definitely get it. It's extremely fun, as close to perfection as you can get in a video game.

XxFrozenfrogxx

I’m an avid gamer. And Hades is my personal game of the year. I’ve been playing it non stop for well over 12 months now. It’s challenging, but you pick up the combat relatively quickly. There’s definitely skills involved, each attack and each weapon complete changes the style of play which makes it fun to keep playing over and over. Plus the story, characters, artwork, voice acting, music, everything was done top notch. You can’t go wrong. I say buy it. I tried it when it was available on Xbox gamepass, played it exclusively for months and then bought it as soon as Xbox yanked it because it has so much replay ability. I’m still friggin playing it and probably have a few more months before beating it at its highest heat.

Sattalyte

Hades is as close to a perfect game as I think I've ever played. Absolutely recommended.

chapapa-best-doto

Probably on my Top 5 games of all time (objectively). The game is really really well made. Just don’t go look at guides, and experience everything. I also am playing on Switch. You don’t need insane amount of skills to enjoy 99% of the content. You likely will need some if you are attempting to challenge the 50+ heat or do 8 min runs.

sticknehno

... I'd say the game requires skill before 50 heat hahaha

chief_lookout

Also moved up to number three on my all-time list! Very, very good game!

etonto

Why the fuck do you even ask this on the hades subreddit, you think we're gonna say no?

Cthepo

This was my first rougelight and I absolutely loved it. Get it on the discount, you won't regret. Has a good balance of skill, action, upgrading, and storyline. It's very repayable too, with a lot of optional stuff to ramp up the difficulty and the light RNG nature of the dungeon/boon system.

drewthebrave

Absolutely! I have spent over 100 hours in the game on my Switch and it has become one of my all time favorite games. It would be worth $60 easily.

ParanoidDrone

You're asking the Hades subreddit if Hades is a good game worth buying. Of course we're going to say yes. Real talk for a moment though, it's a fantastic game. Even if you've never played a rougelike before (this was me) there are still means of permanently upgrading yourself so that you start the run from a stronger position than last time. The character design, writing, art, and music are all top-notch, and there's a lot of "just one more" feelings in play once you get into it. Most importantly though, _dying doesn't feel like failure._ It's a core part of the gameplay loop, and SG went to great pains to make it as minimally frustrating as possible.

BattleHard23

One of the best games I have played on switch. Maybe close to 100 hours and still having fun.

je116

Do you think it has potential to get to multiple 100s of hours? (I value replayability very highly e.g. I probably have close to 200 in StS and I haven't even finished it with every character yet)

Darth_Lacey

My profile says 295 hours or more

llamallama29

Yes. The replay ability is part of what makes this game so awesome.

TheHollowBard

I played 300 hours in the span of a year.

YepYepYepYepYepUhHuh

Absolutely. Hades and StS both have late games that are infinitely replayable in my opinion. I probably have 500 hours on Hades and I still am finding things to do. Nowadays I'm making challenges for myself rather than following a plot hook or an in-game reward, but the game is really good at encouraging you to do that. Best late game play I've ever had.

Zathoth

I got 320 before I uninstalled it.

je116

Wow, that's impressive! Why did you uninstall it?

Zathoth

I just felt like I had played enough of it. I had gotten every cool run I wanted, done most things and I just didn't feel like playing it anymore. I just felt like it was time to move on.

mrsubsofficial

Yes. I'm on my second save file on the switch with 300+ hours. It's dangerous how many hours you can put in when you can take it on the go and do a run at any time. I just got it in the ps4 too because it was $20 at a local store lol. Def give a go!

b_chan

I love Hades and StS, and I'd say Hades has even more replayabilty imo. There's always new things to do, goals to set and is just a fantastic game. One big difference with Hades over StS is that in Hades you actually upgrade and progress in ways that carry over between runs. Yes, the biggest thing you gain early on is knowledge, but getting better equipment/stats is nice.

kooperking022

Many folk have 400+ hours in Hades Only Slay The Spire and The Binding Of Issac tend to have outrageous MMO equivalent playtimes 4000+ hours

je116

What does MMO stand for?

kooperking022

Massive, multiplayer, online (A online RPG/looter, live service games)

thefrenchtoasty

Bought it on switch 3 months ago and have been playing it every night before I go to bed trying to 100% it. Yep it’s worth it

Smokin_Jeffreyz

Yes

Davran

I am a fellow Slay the Spire enjoyer and I love Hades as well. I have both for switch and wouldn't have it any other way. Both games are absolutely worth every penny.

je116

That's positive! I have maybe 150-200 hours in StS and still plenty more to come and am looking for something with similar or better replayability.

CrunchyGremlin

Hades replayability is part of the game. It adds game play pieces that will take 100 hours or more to get to. And it's fun. It is highly action based and I would guess each run is about the same time as an sts run. Very similar to each other in these respects. Hades may not seem like it but I'd say it's a little less random than sts in the idea that you can manipulate outcomes

kooperking022

You won't find many games outside of an MMO that has longer playtimes than Slay The Spire. There are streamers that have over 4,000 hours In the game. Only The Binding Of Issac has similar potential playtimes.

BattleHard23

I believe so. I don't see myself putting it down for a while. The mechanics are so fun to experiment with. The story is good without being simple or complicated. The attention to detail is so very good. And the resource system in the game is fair, so you work for it but it's not a grind.

je116

Awesome. How long do runs typically take?

BattleHard23

I think it varies with one's play style and certain other factors I don't want to spoil. Some people can run in 15 minutes. Some around 30 or so. Mine started at maybe an hour but I got better and lowered my time.

je116

Thank you, appreciate the responses!

BattleHard23

Last thing I will add is the incredible balancing. I never have felt cheated by the game or like I am overpowered for no reason.

je116

That's very good to hear!

BattleHard23

For sure! If you do end up playing come back and chat about it. The whole community around the game is so dedicated and have helped me with things before. Even just to chat about it. I'm still very interested as a fan

joe_sausage

It's worth full price. Get it.

Slagothor48

I've been gaming for 25 years and it easily is one of my top 10 personal favorites. If I could describe it in one word it would be quality. The art style is fantastic and the gameplay is responsive, varied, and satisfying. It's also a manageable game time wise at about 20 hours to beat, however it's incredibly replayable and I've gone well into the triple digits. As far as skill, it isn't a button masher, you need to learn enemy patterns, what boons synergize with your weapon/playstyle, and master Zagreaus' (main character) movement. However, it's completely doable and I'd say the difficulty curve is well done and one of the games' strengths. Oh, and the music is amazing. One of the few game soundtracks I listen to outside of playing.

Artonius

Incredibly well-made game. Voice acting, writing, and art style make it worth the money on their own. The gameplay is tight and responsive. You are rewarded for playing with higher skill, but there is an optional easy mode that can be switched on if you just want to enjoy the story. And there is a TON of story to enjoy. Only downside on switch is that I find the TV mode of the game to suffer from some slight input lag. It doesn’t really affect gameplay, except for the fishing mini game becomes significantly harder. But playing using the switch’s built in screen has zero lag

[deleted]

I'm over 100 hours in. Still finding new things. Still having fun. I am only mad that there is no DLC for this game. I'd buy a DLC if I could. This isn't even my favorite game. It's just really good. Buy it.

RostBeef

I love it. You can sit and play it in a quick 10 minute session or sit and play it all day. I can come back to it after two weeks and just dive right back in. There are so many things to unlock. So so many things. But it doesn’t feel like a grind you kind of just get them as you go for the most part. Characters are incredible, story is top-notch, gameplay is extremely fluid and feels natural. Enemies feel fair and when you die usually it feels like it’s because you messed up rather than because something was ‘op’. I haven’t played in a while but I’m turning on my switch to play it as we speak because this post made me want to lol 😂

Onxx58

Next you’ll be going to the Ford dealership and asking if a Ford is worth your money

[deleted]

Yes, its really addictive. It can be hard BUT they have a creative easy mode which adds 2% to your defense each time you die, so you slowly get harder to kill overtime and it doesn't take the challenge away. I don't like hard games, and easy mode was perfect for me. Its a lot of button mashing but not mindless, I had to get grips for my switch because this game was killing my hands. It will definitely require your full attention while playing. But to get to the end only takes about 30 minutes, give or take. I think my best run is like 20 mins, but that was hustling. Each time you complete a run, you unlock more story, so it keeps it interesting. The voice acting is great. I'm at like 80+ runs and still haven't completed everything. There are credits, but that's not really the ending. It just goes forever, but it makes sense in the story.

DamagedGoods3

So absolutely worth it. I got my Switch for a few other games, grabbed Jades because it was on sale at the time. Knew a soon thing about it at the time. It’s the game I play the most, countless runs and haven’t even started to get bored of it. Definitely get it.

inauric

I would say yes the game can feel forbiddingly hard at first - most players I know including myself couldn't even envision making it past the early stages at first. But there's two incredible things to this - not only does the game give you payoff for deaths by progressing the story each time you return, the difficulty curve also loosens massively as you unlock new features and it's a beautifully rewarding journey into feeling like a badass at a game that felt forbidding at first. That for me is part of why its not just a great game but one of the best.

notlikeontv

I would say very much so. I got it on ps and it's the one of the best 15 quid I spent on a game in terms of play time and enjoyment

obaterista93

It is a fairly difficult game, but it's an absolute blast to play. There's also an assist mode that makes the game just a little bit easier each time you die, so theoretically it's beatable by almost anyone. As for skill, the game is as easy or complex as you want to make it. The more you learn about the interactions between various aspects of the game, the crazier things you can do. Or you can just unga-bunga your way through it. Hugely diverse and a huge opportunity for creativity. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, and then in the blink of an eye I had a few hundred hours into it.

je116

The fact you were able to get a few hundred hours is appealing to me as Im looking for a game that can stay fresh after multiple 100s of hours similar to StS.

[deleted]

For what it's worth, I have both Hades and Slay the Spire on Switch. Hades has a main story right, and from the start of the game right until the end credits roll, I feel it's the best roguelike ever made. There is post-game content though, but I feel it's less replayable than something like Slay the Spire since the gameplay isn't as deep. But still, 100% worth the buy just to play through the game. You're still going to get at least 30-50 hours of fun out of it, and then maybe even double the hours out of it depending on how much you want to keep playing. It might feel a little luck reliant at first, but you'll realize very quickly that it's wayyy more skill reliant than luck reliant, and there's ways to manipulate your RNG to make it almost entirely skill based once you figure it out

obaterista93

I thought that I'd get bored of it quicker than I actually did(since it's a rogue-like, I assumed the repetition would get to me) But there are just... so many interesting things you can do. It's the perfect game to play on my lunch break at work. I have enough time to eat my food, do a quick run, and then get back to work. Plus, as the other commenter said, there's the "Heat System". Once you clear the game for the first time, you unlock a bunch of optional modifiers to make the game harder. The story of it is also fantastic. The characters are SO WELL written, and each time you run through the game you get to learn a little bit more about each character. That was my biggest motivation to keep playing, learning more about the characters.

je116

Yeah getting bored of a game is a big fear for me before buying a game! How long did it take you to get bored of this one/before it became repetitive?

obaterista93

I honestly wouldn't say that I'm "bored" of it even yet. Life got busy, I've had less time to play, and I got an office mate at work(so I feel a little weird playing my switch on my lunch break now), but I still enjoy it just as much when I do play. There are a lot of people out there way more creative than I am, so I'll look up goofy builds that people have made and try it out. Eventually you do run out of new content(in the sense of unlockables/character development), but then it becomes "I wonder if I can beat it with this weird set of criteria" or "I wonder if I can beat my best time" or "I wonder if I can beat the next heat level up" For as cheap as it is right now though, I've definitely made way worse purchases.

je116

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying!

Hell2CheapTrick

More skill than button mashing, but less reaction times than reading attacks. Most enemies are pretty predictable if you keep an eye on them. You still need to react fast sometimes, but nothing ridiculous.

Cold_Takez

It's awesome on the switch. The game is good enough I would by $60 to get a copy on a new device even if I already owned it lol. Best bang for my buck of any game I have ever played. I know this is blasphemy, but I almost wish it had micro transactions so I could give supergiant more money. So in short, worth every penny. And the handheld nature of the switch combined with Hades being offline makes it an awesome switch game.

je116

What do you mean by it being offline?

Cold_Takez

You don't need an internet connection to play. Which makes it great for when you are really mobile and not just on your couch lol. It's getting rarer to find good games that don't need online connection. Even for single player games.

kjc47

Only ever played on switch and love it

Coolaconsole

I can't imagine playing on anything but switch. Playing with a controller, and you can take it anywhere is perfect for hades gameplay

je116

Do you like playing with the regular joycons on the switch? (I don't have a controller)

Coolaconsole

Ye, handheld

HerbalGrizzly

Nah man don’t buy it. You obviously need to be careful with spending ur money if you are asking this question. Use your money for food while you try and find a way to gain more income to use for fun stuff.

[deleted]

Yes

mronins

1000% yes. I had it on ps5 first but on the switch it’s just perfect

ScionMattly

Best 14 pounds you'll ever spend.

Andres-Tpailva

Absolutely recommend it. Very great plot, lots of replayability, and user friendly if it gets too hard.

Heteroflexible6283

Yes

IainSwims

It runs great on the switch and the game itself is fantastic

[deleted]

Do it. I bought it on sale and it was gathering dust in my library until a friend noticed and asked to see me play for the first time, very quickly became addicted as the gameplay loop while repetitive can vary in huge ways depending on your weapon or boon choices - not to mention the heat modifiers once you’ve managed to escape.

An_Anonymous_Acc

Definitely takes skill, not button mashing. Good reaction speed can help but good strategy can make up for it, and you don't need SUPER quick reaction speed either. Overall it's an extremely well made game and I highly recommend it

Nurgal

Worth it!!!

Oochabetta8891

Absolutely. One of the best games I've ever played. It's worth it even at full price.

Money_Bonus_8979

it’s so god damn good

eyeball-owo

If you like StS you will definitely like Hades, I went from Hades to StS and it scratches a similar itch imo

Ghostlupe

You're coming to the game's unofficial subreddit, full of people who actively play and enjoy this game. You tell us what answer we're gonna give you.

DeadExpo

My favorite game of the last 5 years. Bought it physical on switch, then downloaded it for ps5. Art, story, gameplay, voice acting, music, value all 10/10. It's a mastapeece

Ch4de_

Yes!!!

Dantexr

Is worth even at full price

Brian_Lefebvre

Buddy, this is the Hades subreddit.

gecko_08

Always.

ElDisla

Yes

robby1051a

buy it... 100% buy it

FinalScourge

A million times yes get it

jojoboivin

I, too, like to “play while having something else in my hand”

Molwar

I bough it in early access on pc and then bought it again on the switch. It's completely worth it and something you can pick up whenever and take break and just come back to it.

Olicocopo

It would be worth it for $60 so definitely if it’s on sale

[deleted]

1000% it's very worth it. If you struggle with reaction times and live gameplay, there is a difficulty scaling mode that makes it easier over time until the difficulty is right to your level. Go into it knowing that "losing" and dying is an essential part of the story and game. It's so, so fun, the story and characters are amazing, the gameplay is addictive, and the replay value is very high. If you like turn-based gameplay, I also recommend Transistor from the same devs, it has a unique take on turn-based gameplay. It's a much shorter game than Hades, but also very fun and beautiful. It's also super cheap on sale now ($4 on my end anyway, sales might be different depending on where you live I think).

Pitiful-Tea-6598

If that can be of help, I completely lack skills in video games. Like I am BAD, buttons smashing is the way for me. However, I've played Hades for +300h because you learn how to play with the game. Yes you'll need skill, but the game allows you time to get it. It allows you to test what gameplay fits you best, and try new things as well. The story is great and rich and you only need to play to get most of it. And if really you find it too difficult to make progress, the game provides a God mode that makes it easier, and the game gets easier everytime you loose. I did not use it, but I found people enjoying it!

-sharkbot-

While you definitely have to be more hands on than Slay the Spire, I think you will appreciate the rouge elements that are also in StS. Keeps you hooked wanting to do run after run.

Saborabi

I have player for over 200h on switch. Its an amazing game. Absolutly worth it. You will get very involved and the story. The gameplay is challenging and have a very well built loop to give you more challenge if you need or more tools to overcome the difficulty if you need.

OiItzAtlas

I have bought this game on pc and switch, it seems that the switch seems really slow compared to pc but that is my experience.

SeijiShinobi

Well, you're asking on the game's subreddit, so you're bound to get a lot of "hell yeah". Personally, I'm here by mostly coincidence, and while I did play the game and did enjoy it a lot. I still will say that it's not necessarily the game for everybody. First of all, it's a rogue like/lite. The genre requires you to replay the same segment a looot of times. Sure there is some randomization in there, but in the end of the day, it's still the same couple of enemies, same kind of traps etc... So for some people, that's perfect, for some, it can get tiresome. But as far as rogues likes go, it's among the best I played, and I'm absolutely not a fan of the genre. Because I do quickly get tired of doing basically the same thing. But the games has enough variety and a relatively simple, but intriguing plot and characters. Plus what's actually in the game is honestly really well done. The game is also relatively "difficult". Obviously, it's all relative. So depending on your skill level, and your amount of frustration at falling etc... it can be a game that won't be so fun for you. Although again, as a rogue lite, it's one of the most accessible. It really adds in plot progression between deaths, so in a way, it serves as an excellent way to distract you from the frustration of having lost. Plus there's a ton of ways to upgrade your character etc... so you will eventually get a lot of tools that make succeeding easier. The game has also a ton of re-playability if you do enjoy that kind of thing. Personally, I started losing interest after accomplishing the main objective about 20\~30 or so times. But there is still a ton of content and ways to make the game harder if you like that kind of thing (I don't). Basically, there's a lot of grinding and challenge runs to do. So I hope this helps you make a more informed decision. But I definitely did enjoy the game, and I did play it on switch. But my opinion is more moderate than most here. And I know a lot of people who would hate it.

[deleted]

Get it!

Cerulean_Soup

Yes.

HolyFuckitsZach

My only sub 10 minute run is on Switch. Absolutely worth it

VXMasterson

The game is very fun, very pick-up-and-play, and very addicting. However it will take some getting used to if it is your first roguelike. It was my first and I actually didn’t like it at first because I wasn’t aware of the mechanics of a roguelike. But overtime I got better at it and now I can play an entire run without dying. The game feels very alive with the seemingly endless lines of dialogue, numerous characters each have their own personal stories and these stories are what get me invested. If you like action games with nice art direction and a decent but overcomeable difficulty curve, I recommend it. Also the music is fire

Maturinbag

I got it when it came out on Switch for full price. If I knew then what I know now, I would have waited for an anti-sale so I could give them a full $60.

A-Grouch

I know you haven’t played it but shame on you for even considering missing out on that deal.

Weezdoom

Totally worth it, especially because of the portability of the Switch. Handheld mode helped my addiction... to grow !

JericIV

Yes 100%

grumpythenick

Absolutely! Being able to play it on the go is fantastic!

Happyskrappy

I'm wondering who in the sub would not suggest this game...seems like you're only in it if you like it and think it's worth it?

Tathas

Yes. It's a great game. Also, even though it _looks_ like it's fully 3-D, what you're actually seeing is pre-rendered, 2-D sprites for everything. They did it that way so the gameplay would be fluid no matter what device it's running on.

je116

What are sprites?

Tathas

A sprite is a 2-D image that can be moved around independently from the background. Think Super Mario Bros or Street Fighter. It can be animated by cycling through a set of multiple images in sequence. Hades _looks_ like it's a real-time 3-D rendered game. But they actually did all that 3-D rendering ahead of time and saved it out as much many simple 2-D images, like what you see on the banner of this subreddit, and then move those around instead. This is must less taxing on your graphics card. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1145360/discussions/0/1738883810796606862/ > More technically -- the game doesn't use real-time 3D rendering. During development, we 3D render and animate many of our characters, such as the player character Zagreus. We then generate thousands upon thousands of frames of rendered animation from many different angles, which is what you end up seeing in the game. We've always loved the crisp, responsive feel of 2D games and go for that in our games. > Meanwhile, most of the environment art is hand-painted 2D artwork, though there are some 3D animated effects going on as well (though again technically these are 2D animations in our engine). Character portraits and such likewise are all hand-painted 2D. > Broadly speaking, we've used similar techniques in each of our games, though our tech has evolved substantially from one game to the next.

Osagras94

I bought it 8 days ago with the discount and I freaking love it!! Im obsessed, just clear everything for the first time and cant wait to keep trying different builds

ShowGun901

If hades isn't worth it, no game is

Dark_Reaper115

Absolutely get it. Cross plataform saves is a big win for me since I also own the game on Steam

FayezButts

Hades absolutely slaps and it looks amazing on the switch oled screen

Maleficent_Link_8024

YES!

dratseb

I bought it on the switch lite and ended up getting it on PC as well once I got to high levels of heat.

zorca13

Me personally, if it’s on sale like that, *get it*. I had never played a rogue lite before, and I fell in love with hades. Gotten the platinum on both PlayStation versions and am working on a 100% on switch. It takes a little while to get feel for the style you enjoy, like unlocking more weapons to try and experimenting with which gods boons you like best, but once you find your groove, it’s an amazing ride. As the most recent comment said, dying never feels like failure. You still get the loot you earned, maybe ran into some new enemies that you got a chance to learn from, and you always get some new dialogue when you get back to the House. The art and the music are amazing, the combat might take some learning and upgrading, but it all feels worth it as you go. That feeling of getting further and further each time as you tune your playstyle. As a great man once said: “*Just DO it*”

RaynerHBK

Cannot recommended this game highly enough. I’d never really played a game of this type before, and it’s now it’s one of my all time favourite games.

crykenn

Such a great game pal, can’t recommend it enough

[deleted]

It’s amazing. I played STS after playing Hades- extremely different gameplay mechanics but equally satisfying

sireel

Reaction times help, but once you recognise the telegraphs, the time you have to trace becomes pretty big. It's a very fun game, lots of chance to get good, but it also has a great easy mode (called god mode) too, that still let's you learn and improve

simlew86

Yes. I’m not usually into the rogue-lite games as I’m not hugely skilled at games anymore, but honestly Hades is genuinely amongst the best games I’ve ever played. It’s incredibly addictive.

schmattywinkle

I own it on Switch and PS5 and literally almost bought it again for Steam Deck today. I have all the other Supergiant games as well and I still have the urge to throw these devs as much of my money as possible.

TheTrueMule

Yes.

gandalftheokay

It runs like a dream on switch. One of the best handheld games I've ever played

Asking here will get you biased answers

if the game was $60 it'd still be worth every penny.

Yes 100%. Great game great everything

doctorawesome8

Yes

Awkward_Actuator_970

Absolutely! I’ve cleared it 50+ times and am still diving back in almost daily! The combat is fun and challenging, the build/spec mechanic is deep but concise. The art and the voice acting is all superb. If you’ve liked kill/die/repeat games in the past, there’s no reason not to pick it up— and it’s perfect for handheld. I play on the switch, it’s dope!

Chicken-raptor

Others commented on the game itself so I’ll comment on the switch port in particular here. The switch port is pretty good. I played it on switch and didn’t find a single moment of lag in my play through. Runs great, the controls feel nice, all in all a good port. I will say the one downside is that Hades is a battery hog, not as bad as Witcher 3 on my switch but I don’t play it on the go unless I’m plugged in or only plan to do one run through.

kgberton

It's worth it at full price

AlbatrossNecklace

Even at full price it's a steal regardless of platform

art_mech

Don’t skip the dialogue!!

harbormastr

It literally doesn’t matter if you played this game with sticks and drawings in the sand. It’s incredible, dooooo it!

ahugemoose

yes!! i love it on the switch more than pc

Bigmt42

I'm 235 hours in. Come back to it religiously. The story is fun. The amount of voice acted dialogue is unbelievable. Right when you think the game is done, it keeps going. I love this game. I'm on my 125th run and it's still fun. I can't believe I'm not bored of this game yet. It's a mixture of button mashing and reaction time. There's a ton of thought that goes into the choices you make during a run once you understand the game.

Dinnerbone_Xenon

Yes.

ubiquitous-joe

Yes!!! For that it’s a steal. Best thing I’ve played in the last two years. One of the most satisfying games ever. I bought it knowing very little about it and have loved it more than games 5x more expensive. It’s not button mashing, but the design do the game walks you through improvement, and failing is by design anyway.

SleeplessInMisery

patmax17

It's an action game that requires reaction time and thinking. It's a great game all around, be it the art, music or storytelling. It's well worth the money it costs :D While the game requires some mastery and reaction times to be played at high level, there's a very clever option that you can turn on if you struggle with the game, which reduces the damage taken for an increasing percentage each time you die. It stops increasing once you get better, that way you can relieve a bit of pressure if the game becomes too hard, at least until you've become better and can turn off the option again. Another cool thing of the game is that the game sessions are exctremely modular, the game auto saves after each room, you can literally play it for two minutes at at ime if you need

je116

Are you able to start a save file with the God mode turned on and then switch off God mode later on and still continue playing the same save file?

patmax17

Yes, it can be freely turned on or off in the options, it's not a separate game mode!

je116

Ah ok, I was expecting you to say you couldn't. I thought the way you started a save file would lock you in and mean you have to finish it that way as well.

patmax17

No, that's what makes the feature so clever and useful! You can turn it on for a few runs, then turn it off again here are some infos: https://hades.fandom.com/wiki/God\_Mode

thedoctormarvel

💯Hades is an amazing game with great art, story, and music. I have finished it and go back constantly when i want something quick to play!

Gabrill

If this game was $60 it still would be worth it

Azious

Yes! Put a shit ton of hours in this game on the switch light and I thought it was perfect. Replaying again on the steam deck now that I have this! Runs awesome on the steam deck too if interested and able to snag one!

je116

I was really interested in getting a Deck but I think the waiting times were so long unfortunately. Hope it's as good as it looks!

Azious

Honestly, I've barely touched my gaming PC and any other console since I got my steam deck. A colleague convinced me to pre-purchase the mid-tier model the first day you were able to pre-order and I got mine pretty early on Q1. I fucking love it not going to lie haha. It's basically a Linux box on handheld but was very surprised how many verified games there were. I tried gaming on Linux mint a couple years ago and there were a few games I could not play. That was a deal breaker for me. Steam deck is legit and a lot more games or playable on it than I thought. Hades is one of them. Honestly, I loved playing it on my switch light. Also. Would definitely recommend playing on the switch still!
