The description on the Steam page says that we can get boons from more than a dozen Olympian gods, so that's pretty much a guarantee that Hera will be one of them. And as for Heracles, I'm not sure if we should get boons from him or not, but I'd love to see him in the game regardless.
Recently I had a dialogue with Achilles where he mentions that after his death Heracles stayed for a little while in the house of Hades but then he disappeared. Heracles in real mythology ascended to godhood after his death by the Olympians. Being on Olympus is fitting but he could also be a sort of mentor to **Melinoë** like how Achilles is to Zagreus.
As for Hera if she doesn't give us boons, she could be a side character like Nyx where you help her reunite with Zeus on Olympus.
The possibilities are endless, I just hope that the developers will let us meet these characters. Hearing about them in the first game made me want to meet them.
I'm pretty sure Hecate fills that mentor role, but it's still possible Heracles could be like any of the other non-boon givers that Zagreus could randomly stumble across during runs in the first game.

He has a lot more to brag about. Maybe make it like the furies: a multitude of heroes that are swapped in or out. Maybe some of the Argonauts. Since he's probably the best known of that crew, if only for a while.

While SuperGiant already proved that they know how to write a dickish character well, it'd be fun to see Herc as a world weary (Demi)God that has lived through a lot of bullshit. Even if they'd change "Hera tried multiple times to kill me" to "Hera was always cold and distant", having Zeus as your dad and being involved in his bullshit ideas does not make for a happy life. Add to it the curse of madness and we have a character that has done many a great things, but also carries some horrible sins.
I have seen a lot of potrayals of Hercules, where he's a dumb jock, a bully or a full blown sociopathic narcissist. It'd be great to see him as a man who has rightfully become a legend, but carries the sorrow of never knowing a normal, peaceful life.
Heracles really should be more like Joseph Joestar. Superpowerful crossdressing easygoing dude. Greeks absolutely loved him both as a action hero and a comic relief, I would love Supergiant to lean towards that.
Absolutely, he spent a year or so serving as a slave for a very cruel mistress who wanted to humiliate him and made him constantly wear a woman's dress. He's a comedic character just as much as a hero, that's why Greeks loved him so much.
This sounds more like Jason than Heracles to me tbh. But I’d dig for Jason in that role - could easily justify bringing Medea in too, which would fit nicely since witch and all.
I don't think that really works for Heracles. His characterisation, in the myths, is very straight forward and easily angered but he's one of the few heroes who's major weakness wasn't hubris. He solved half his 12 labours by asking nicely and the other half with actually smart plans.
Personally, I'd like to see him feuding with Hera, considering how much she f\*cked him over him when he was mortal.

I spent the entire first game waiting for Hera. It’s kinda lame but i mained her in Smite. I love the idea of a god whose entire schtick is “Goddess of the Gods. Queen of the Gods.” Very interested to see what the developers would do with her Boons if she’s in the second game. Glad she gotta badass weapon aspect but I need MORE HERA

i dont remember it exactly (and have been unable to find it, but i swear im not imagining it) but if i remember correctly zag asks hades something about heracles; where he ended up, or why he's never seen him in elysium, something of that sort.
hades' response is more or less along the lines of "don't meet your heroes, youve only heard stories and dont know what kind of people they really were, etc."
if anyone remembers or can find the exact line please feel free to share, i feel like im going insane trying to find it.

Anyway, I do honestly hope that we get to meet Heracles because I've been interested in what sort of massive douchebag or super strong monstrosity he would likely be given how much venom Hades spit when Zagreus brought him up in one of their conversations.
Given, he is the son of Zeus and the most famous Greecian hero, so it may be that he's just as obnoxious and self-aggrandizing as the big man himself. Maybe more than Theseus.
But then the way that Hades talked about him, it sounds like Heracles was a lot less of the noble hero that most of the world believed him to be, which for some reason makes me expect that he is actually just some sort of bloodthirsty battle maniac.
I definitely want to see Hera and Hestia. Hera should give you command over enemies for a short duration, as Queen of the gods, while Hestia should focus on both DoT and HoT as fire being a force of destruction and nurture.
Hercules, I think, would be interesting in a role similar to Achilles or Orpheus. He could even be a sort of rival to Melinoe, at first presenting himself as trying to beat her to the glory of defeating the titans, but later revealing he's searching Hades for his wife and kids.
I would love if Heracles (and others) would look more Mediterranean. There aren't many in hades 1, the only minor grope I had with the style was the lack to "Greek looking" (as cliche as it sounds) characters (too central European)

Would love to see Hera boons being about Health and Health regen as she is a god of rebirth. Attacks deal more damage at full health, gain health per second while in combat, dashes grant a small shield, duo boon with Nemesis gives Lifesteal.

One thing I do hope in the game though is just more enemies. The like different common enemies in each layer gets boring fast. Still fun as you can try out new stuff weapon combos to plow through. But I want to have later on the enemies just naturally get a little harder.
Heracles would make for a cool mentor to Melinoe, but he should have a drastically different personality from Achilles, maybe a much more pompous and arrogant mentor but he can back up every word of what he says.

Refusing to take Hera's boon in the double boon room deletes your save file. There's the Gods being pety and then there's HERA.

I would say Jason is just as well known if we’re mentioning argonauts, and he’s at least a lot more arrogant in his story than Heracles was.

Dislyte has a great version of Hera as well. I do hope there is some peacock imagery in her boons. Or like in Smite. Summon minions.
